Background
Ever since the age of colonies, the African Continent had primarily been associated with the 3rd World due to poverty and the interference of foreign nations. Famine, war, and corruption were common and it did not seem to improve until 1995. When Magic resurfaced, it was as if Africa itself became alive. With Magic, it was no secret that war might ruin all the civil progress, but all in all, every region saw a massive amount of positive progress.

When the Catastrophe devastated most of the known world, Africa was an exception. Most of the continent was already harsh deserts and arid territories. The event caused a shift of climate, and soon, rich oasis began to appear at the once desolated deserts and it became a cradle of the world.

A powerful magus, Mugabe Ntaganda, appeared and unified all lands of Africa under his rule. His people continued to found the school of Voodoo, which is considered necromancy in Europe. Voodoo practitioners use the mana in a way that can only be taught by those who grew up in their faith and culture. They can see through the veil, the land of the dead, or the invisible world where death is the gateway to enter. Their dead ancestors walk these lands and when it’s the time of strife, they can call upon the spirits to seek vengeance on those who seek to harm their lands.

The difference of necromancy and voodoo is how it is meant to be used. The people of Haven are by far not evil, as voodoo is meant to be used for the living to seek the guidance of those beyond. It is part of nature and the cycle of life. Dark Voodoo Practitioners are more in league with the evil necromancers who trap the dead and enslave them to do their bidding.

Role during the Hundred Years’ War
Haven isolated them from the world when the rest of the world was in conflict. They had nothing to gain and instead fortified their borders. As the war never made it past the Middle-East, the African Continent was untouched.

Inherited Magic
Voodoo: Voodoo is a magic type that focuses on communication with spirits, as well as lending power of the realm of the death. As the practitioners wield the power of the dead, there is a grave risk of using this power. To avoid becoming possessed or lose their lives, many Voodoo mages use talismans, tools or voodoo dolls to act as a medium. The most common application is the summoning of voodoo warriors. By creating a voodoo doll, the one who wishes to summon warriors will call upon a spirit to give the doll a soul. The doll then empowered by magic begins to grow and take shape of a monstrous creature that exists under the master’s command for a moment of time.

Dark Voodoo: As Voodoo is not inherently meant for evil deeds, there are those with corruption in their hearts. These Voodoo practitioners created the Dark Voodoo Magic, where they can curse other living beings with a malformed spirit. These practitioners have traveled to Romania and even Hungary to further develop their abilities through blood magic. This type of magic is extremely dangerous for those they are intended to harm, and sometimes, even themselves.
