Murphy's Law (Raemy & Silence)

Raemy

Grandmaster
Evux

He clutched at the the wound on his smooth, bulbous head with his spindly, four-fingered hand and moved toward the road. He looked back to see the mangled wreck that used to be his ship. The crash had dug a messy trench and cut a line through the trees. "Damned peacekeepers," he mumbled in his scratchy, resonating voice, "No respect for my hard work," He then continued to walk toward the road.

He was about to break through the treeline when he saw the headlights of one of the primitive land vehicles of this world. A semi-truck, if he wasn't mistaken on its classification. He hid his small, three foot tall body behind a tree. The truck came to a stop and out came one of this world's inhabitants: a human.

"The hell was that?" the human said softly and started to creep toward the woods. The man seemed to be headed in the direction of his ship. As soon as the human walked past the tree Evux was hiding behind, he crept to the truck and hid behind the seat. After a few moments the human went back to his truck scratching the back of his head in confusion. He started the truck back up and continued down the road toward a what classified as a city on this backwater planet.

Ian Walker
Ian's alarm didn't go off on time. His only hope of getting to work on time was to cut some corners in his morning routine. He quickly put on his suit and tie and grabbed a granola bar. While eating that, he wet a comb in the sink and straightened out his medium length brown hair. He looked into the full body mirror to see if he was missing anything. "Lookin' good," he said to his reflection. Everything looked to be in order and slightly ahead of schedule. All that was left was to wait for his new partner to pick him up.

He wondered what his new partner would be like. Would they be human like him and his last partner or would they be some freaky-looking alien? He lightly chuckled at the idea. Sure there were more and more aliens being recruited into Department 7, but surely they wouldn't pair him up with one. Then again, perhaps that's why he wasn't given any information on his new partner. Or maybe he was just being paranoid.

He got a text alert from the department saying that his partner was about to arrive. Perhaps it was a bad idea to total his car by using it as a battering ram to break into that drug smuggler's den, but he wanted his partner to retire with a bang. With that thought, he walked outside to meet his new partner.

I.G.S. (Inter-Galactic Spy) Yanick

They were on his trail and he knew it. The best place to land was home. Who would think to look for a spy on their home planet and honestly who would be able to find him here? It wasn't like he hadn't heard the aliens say that all humans looked alike. How they got that impression he didn't know. Not all aliens looked alike. That was for certain. What he really had to worry about was the rogue aliens that had begun making their infiltration. Rogues with an agenda.

If they were going to round these rogues up he needed to speak to the I.G.C. (Inter-Galactic Council). "A lot more to this little movement than what they would probably like to admit." Stepping off his ship he started to look around. Next stop would be to obtain a ship. Something that could get him to Oberon. Grabbing his pad he typed a quick message into it. "The intercept worked. I have received the information and we need an emergency meeting right away." Anxiously glancing around he jogged down the steps into the subway.

Locker 472 had a few things and then he could grab his alternate id and shield. They needed to see him as a native if he was going to get into the council without getting shot. If a rogue unit found out he had the message and he was on the way to the I.G.C. there would be all out war long before it was predicted.

Dominic Rayden
Giddy was perhaps the wrong word for it, something more like ecstatic. Dominic was onto his second cup of coffee. Finally, after 75 years of being an analyst he was promoted to field agent. It took rounds of applications to get there. Basically they didn't want to let one of their best go and he knew it. Still it was irritating to be held back just because of his brilliance. Nothing about him said analyst except perhaps his reading glasses. Even aliens had need of them after years of staring at computers and typing busily away for hours on end.

Dominic brushed his hand through his thick black hair. He hadn't even noticed by now that it lost the cool smooth look it had before. Now it was back to the same rumpled appearance as it was when he sat at his desk. First day on the field and he was being partnered with an experienced agent. It was a good feeling. Nobody wanted to be partnered with the newbie and yet Dominic didn't consider himself such. So this should be a win win.

Filling his travel mug with coffee he walked out to his little car. Nearly groaning he squished himself into the front seat. At 6'9" it was next to impossible to find a vehicle that was semi comfortable without looking like something that someone would want to steal. Dominic was about average for a Pruggle. His eyes were a deep violet, skin an olive tone and the black swirls on his arms looked like tattoos though they weren't. It was all part of being a Pruggle. Somehow he always thought that the name of his race sounded like a fat short people rather than the tall, majestic, and brilliant folk that they were. Pruggle didn't even indicate that they were at times arrogant. Such a sad, humble sounding little name.

A grin came to his face when he pulled up outside the building and then he saw the man that stepped out. "Great...." Muttering under his breath he tapped on the steering wheel. "Ian Walker." What an asshole. That guy was always yelling into the earpiece. Never thought of the analyst on the other side. When the man opened the other car door his smile faded some. "Yep its you. You're Ian Walker...." By now he was grimacing and he offered one of his huge hands to give the man a handshake. It seemed an appropriate time for one. "I'm your new unfortunate partner, Dominic Rayden. Sure you've heard of me."
