Bound together by a common cause, the Elysian Vanguard grew to its prime at the peak of the Orsa of Terminus' rise to power. With its sworn foe defeated these legendary warriors have scattered across Valore to resume their lives, but old ties are not easily severed. With a kinship forged through blood and sacrifice, perhaps these champions of old only await a time when Valore might have need of their strength once more, a time where one might call them back.

The Elysian Vanguard is an order of guardians sworn to uphold the Light and to combat the Void and its taint wherever it might exist. Warriors, scholars, ambassadors, teachers, heroes and even reformed criminals, the ranks of the Elysian Vanguard come from all walks of life before swearing off home and country in favor of a deeper purpose. The Elysian Vanguard exists outside of the authority of any singular governmental body and maintains a stance of neutrality on matters of political strife.

Its primary place of operation is located within the Icy Peaks of Terra. The temple situated atop the snowy mountains was built to honor the fallen heroes who lay down their lives for Valore and it serves both as a place of remembrance and as a symbol of hope where new initiates are trained to one day join the ranks of these venerable champions.

Though once a prominent and revered order, the Elysian Vanguard has only just begun to regain its former presence within Valore. With a life-long service that spans generations of blood and sacrifice, this order still commands a great deal of respect, but its global influence has waned with the years. Will this ancient and archaic order rise to the challenge of claiming a place for itself in a changing world, or will it succumb to the ravages of time and fading memories.

Okay, the setting for this roleplay will be a planet recently fractured from years of heavy magic use and conflict that built up into an eruption of cataclysmic battles that have left entire swaths of the planet unstable on the planar level. It's during this shattering of the world that the Vanguard will be rising again to try and combat the growing threats unleashed by recent events. Prior to this point, magic and tech have largely evolved side by side through the years and heavily influenced one another, so expect to see elements from both sides of the spectrum throughout the roleplay.

The setting will vary from region to region as far as culture and geography go due to the need for the characters to travel far and wide, but expect a roleplay brimming with fantastical elements and containing both familiar and unique races and species found throughout. Due to the nature of the world, we even encourage players to bring their own creations to the table. We're more than happy to introduce new species, races, and styles of magic or magitech into the world.

The story will be following characters within the Elysian Vanguard in a sort of episodic fashion, with smaller stand-alone arcs to break things up a bit while a larger over-arcing plot will be unfolding. This will allow us to really adjust the pacing of individual arcs to suit the availability of individual players, without rushing the main story line and leaving anyone behind.

We offer a large amount of flexibility with character power levels and creation, simply due to the fact that the Elysian Vanguard is designed to combat high tier enemies. Since this roleplay focuses more on players vs GM fronted antagonists rather than player vs player conflicts, we can afford to be a bit more lax in this area. However please aim for balanced characters, regardless of overall power level. It's no fun for anyone if someone's character can 'do it all'. If we feel a character has so many abilities and powers that it negates the need for any other characters, we may require revisions.
 
What we're looking for in players: We're' primarily looking for mature writers looking to tell a story, rather than people viewing the roleplay as a 'game' to win or lose. We're pretty flexible and laid back when it comes to our expectations, so we have no word limits or player age requirements. What we do expect though are players that write well with others, who don't take things too personally, and understand that while we don't maintain word limits on our posts that this isn't a beginner roleplay.

Our focus is on quality vs quantity, and it takes skill to get across a lot of depth with fewer words rather than over-writing something to death that has no depth. We don't turn people away for preferring to write concisely as long as what is written has substance. We're also looking for players who are at a skill level as to able to make complex characters and partake in intricate roleplay developments. We like characters who feel like people rather than cookie cutter molds that never change or grow as they experience things.

Sounds good. I would also note that we allow people to make as many characters as they are willing to handle and can keep up with. Given the nature of the roleplay it'll give players the option and opportunity to participate in more of the smaller arcs if they want to, since many of them may be running simultaneously and one character can't be in multiple places at once. Not necessary of course, but the option is open to people that would like to.

I really like this! Is there any specific character sheet you would like us to follow? Or would you just like a brief description with like a picture or something?
 
We're really flexible with character sheets. The important thing is that you sell us on the character, and give an idea of any ability or noteworthy skill sets that the character might have.

How you want to go about that and what you want to include is up to you.
 
That is some really detailed lore, I have to admit I haven.t read all the way through the World lore yet,
Would a Dollhouse-type scenario fit within the parameters of this setting? If you're not familiar, Dolhouse was a Joss Whedon show in which a company essentially employed or extorted people into having their personas (including memories erased) and becoming "dolls" which could then be loaded with new identities that could fit the needs/demands of the company's clients. It was more complicated than that but that is kind of the gist.
I was thinking in a magitech setting the various identities (including the originals) could be stored in spheres or perhaps even tomes as spells.

Basically if the DOllhouse scenario is in play I would use one character of each gender as the core/template and for various missions load up different personas with different skill=sets.
