When all dials added up to thirteen, the television crackled to life.

BOOM!

At the exact same time, a bright green flash of lightning flooded the room, leaving the entire area in darkness right after, save for the glow of the television, which then began to play.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension—a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

The opening narration switched then, to a black-and-white shot of an imposing building.

View attachment 4573

The Hollywood Hotel. Built with the hopes and dreams of the silver screen elites, this stately tower was to serve as a beacon of glamor to the masses. But tragedy struck one night...

The sky darkens, clouds forming, and the sound of a violent storm plays. Another flash of lightning strikes, this time onscreen, hitting the hotel. The light envelopes the entire screen.

...and now that beacon has become nothing more than a Tower of Babel.

The sceen changes once more, to the hotel lobby you had all just exited. The camera makes a slow pan over the area, picking up the cobwebs and abandoned belongings, until landing on an elevator.

It is here where your journey begins...

There's a cut to the top of the elevator, where the dial slowly goes from 12 to the lobby.

Ding! The doors open, and within lies the duck from earlier. His back turned, he groans, uneasily getting to his feet and shaking his head. "Ugh...what?" Looking over his shoulder, he gasps. "I gotta get out of here!!" He makes a mad dash for the lobby, only for the elevator doors to slam shut in his face. Muffled pounding and screams can be heard as the camera pans to the side, where standing on the consierge desk is none other than Shiriki Utundu.

And it is here where your journey ends! Fools! Do you think you have what it takes to defeat me? You will never find your book, and you will never find the duck! I hope you all enjoy your permanent stay here...in the Twilight Zone!

He laughs maniacally as the elevator starts going up, reaching the ninth floor just as the TV set explodes in a brilliant flash of light. From there, you are all left in darkness...save for the sound of rainfall from outside.

On instinct, Sam pulled out her shield to block against the TV exploding. She put nothing to chance in this place. "Sound off, everyone still here?" She asked aloud into the darkness.

"What in Oblivion was that..." Ulfi asked slowly. She was now even more on her guard. Being far enough away to not be hit by the explosion, but still dazed by the light. She covers her eyes with her arms for a moment as her eyes slowly get used to the darkness. Whispering three words. "Laas Yah Niir." Using the Shout Aura Whisper to try and see if there was anyone else around. Unlike Detect Life, this ability also allows her to detect the presence of animunculi (like dwemmer spiders), undead, and daedra. It does not differentiate friends and foes.

There was no other presence to be found other than those in the room. Figment created a flashlight, shining it around. "Gee whiz...thanks, Sam! Your shield help keep us all safe!"

"No kidding, Leaf said, coughing as she stood up. "But what do we do now? Where are we supposed to go after this?"

"That couldn't have been a dead end, could it?" Dreamfinder shook his head. "There has to be a lead somewhere...any ideas?"

"Glad I could be of some assistance,"
Sam replied trying to look around. "Was just about to ask the same thing. Do we have any clue about where to go from here? I don't like that statue stringing us along like this. We got to try and get the upper hand on it somehow."

"Perhaps this elevator has some sort of service hatch, for maintenance. Close Combat can get... messy."

Caustic exclaimed, readying his Peacekeeper Shotgun for any hidden tricks or jump attacks.

"Hmm...I wonder if the video showed anything more..." Dreamfinder looked to the smoking television. "But I suppose there's no chance of seeing it now..."

Talky Tina whirred to life again. "Did the program stop anywhere important?"

"Not that I saw," Leaf said. The television stopped on the ninth floor...is that a lead?"

"Let's ask this thing!" Figment went back to the fortune toy, imagining a coin to pop in. "Is there something on the ninth floor we need?" Just as before, a little note popped out. "'All signs point to yes!'"

"Marvelous! So we go on up to the ninth floor then...oh, my." Dreamfinder walked up to Caustic, extending his hand. "You may have missed the memo, friend, but you'll need to turn in your weapons, please! This is a peaceful operation."

"Then we head to the 9th floor," Sam replied. "I wonder if it would be that easy..." She went up to the elevator and pressed the button to hopefully call it down to their floor.

Surprisingly, the elevator worked, and was big enough to fit them all. This Hollywood Hotel certainly had been grand in every way. Sticking together, the group would be up at the ninth floor in a matter of moments. As the doors opened, the group found the ninth floor was just a single room. It was rather empty, save for one woman standing at the counter in the center.

"I had performed as instructed, brandishing my weapons to protect us from the unknown being's trickery. Unless you'd like to experience a messy end and make yourself a potential test subject, you'll indulge me."

Caustic exclaimed with his arms crossed as he had put his Spitfire LMG away but kept his Peacekeeper Shotgun on his back.

"Whatever's going on here, you'd be best to remain alert."

Sam stopped anyone that was going out from the elevator as soon as she spotted the woman at the counter. “Stay on your toes,” She stepped out and spoke to the woman. “Excuse me, we’re a bit lost.” Perhaps not the truth but for Sam it certainly felt like it. “I wonder if you could answer some questions for us?”

"The rules of being part of this group are that we don't allow weapons, but use our pins instead." Dreamfinder offered a pin to Caustic. "We are a nonviolent organization. If you don't comply, I'm afraid we'll have to send you back home."

As she entered the room, the young Captain America would notice that there were others in the room: mannequins stood in alcoves on either side, lifeless and smiling. The woman, on the other hand, was quite real.

When Dreamfinder offered a pin to Caustic, he retorted by handing out his own.

"I had already been acquainted with one of these devices, hence how I was able to bring my weapons here. But if you so insist..."

He pressed in on the Pin and his weapons had then vanished, as well as any Gas Canisters he had placed in the area.

"I trust you plan on giving me adequate test subjects at some point, I'd hate to have wasted potential."

Yeah this wasn’t creepy at all…well might as well cut to the chase. “We’re looking for a statue, a mean-looking one.” She felt perhaps best to not say that they were looking for one that was alive. “Maybe you could tell us where it is? I’ve understood that it’s somewhere in this building, so if you can point us in the right direction I'd appreciate it.”

@Jeremi @Raynar Saassin @Lucky @Takumi @Donder172 @Sark @Crow @York @dark

"A statue?" The lady laughed. "Well, look around, dear!" She motioned to all the mannequins around. "We have plenty of statues here!"

"Isn't it a book we're looking for?" Leaf asked, walking up beside Sam. "Shiriki Utundu said we needed the book and the duck."

"Oh, a book!" The salewoman clapped her hands together. "Well, you're just in luck! We have four books in total, each held by one of our lovely mannequins."

"Oh, cool! C'mon, lets whip up some money and-"

"Actually, it isn't money that I want."

"What?"

"I specialize in antiques, you see. And I see an antique that would be right at home here!" She pointed to the Talky Tina doll, still within the elevator. "Tell you what: look around and figure out which book you want, and I'll give you one of them for her. Do we have a deal?"

@Jeremi @Lucky @Raynar Saassin @Takumi @Sark @Crow @York @dark @Donder172

Velma Dinkley

“ Are you going to be okay with being traded away for a book or do you think this is a bad idea?”
She asked, pulling the doll’s string as she took it out of the elevator and went to look at the displays to see what color books they had.

@Yun Lee @ Everyone

"Just as long as I don't get stuffed in a suitcase again, that's fine by me!" Tina said.

The four mannequins each held a book in hand, and looking at each cover you'd find four unique titles:

New Year's Nightmare: The Unsolved Disappearance of Harrison Hightower III

Rich Culture by the River: The Indigenous Tribes of the Congo

Curse Etiquette: Rules and Guides to Prevent Being Cursed

From Horseshoes to Table Salt: Encyclopedia of Superstitions

"They all look legit..." Leaf said. "How do we know which one is the one Shiriki Utundu wants us to get?"
