Byleth's hand stayed trained on his blade, eyes narrowed as he examined the room before them. To be perfectly honest, he had no idea what to make of this, but he'd seen enough while on missions with Jeralt and the other mercenaries to know that this massacre wasn't the end of their troubles, but the start. So he kept his eyes peeled for any potential threat, just in case they had bigger fish to fry, leaving the investigation to the more academic among their ranks.

"Displaces in time, huh? I don't suppose we can just ask 'em to take us all back to our own times. That'd just be too easy, huh?" Miguel sighed as the Doctor explained just what the so-called Weeping Angels were capable of, continuing to venture forward regardless. He ought to be used to stuff like that by now, being so close to the situation, and yet still so far away.

Beep.

"Wait, what did you--" The man began to ask Death's Head as his discs began to rapidly flash, but as Riker and the Doctor were the first to react, Miguel needed no further hints. "Aw, shock... Are you for real?!" He asked the agent incredulously, not needing any Spider-Sense to know he'd have to make a break for it.

As the explosion eventually came, blocking the group off from the threat of the statues, Miguel rubbed his head with a grunt, looking toward Death's Head as he deflected the criticisms from everyone else. "Sure, that might have worked out well enough, but you coulda at least given us more warning!" He clicked his tongue in irritation, but this was hardly the time to get too pissed about it, and besides, unlike his other namesakes, Miguel was perhaps just a bit more able to accept the necessity of calculated risks, and their validity so long as everything turned out fine, especially with Picard putting an end to any more potential comments.

As they all had no other choice but to continue further on, Miguel stopped briefly to give a whistle as he saw the dead Cybermen all over the place, impressed partly at they were still recognizable at all, given how old he had to guess this place was. "Well, it's just as well we were late. Those guys are terrible conversation," he quipped in response to the Doctor, before taking notice of the strange portal machine in the room.

"Well, well, hello beautiful. What do we have here?" He mused aloud as he walked up to the machine, checking out the controls and tubes to see if it was still active, and if permitted, seeing if he could try powering it up again.

The machine seemed to be fully intact and operational, which considering its surroundings was a miracle to itself. "Don't touch anything!" The Doctor came running up looking at the controls before giving Miguel an awkward smile. "Please," she added.

Riker stayed behind to cover the rear area while Picard walked up to the Doctor and Miguel. "Fascinating. Despite the death and decay around it this machine is still active. Do you know what it is, Doctor?"

"I have my guesses," She replied. "But I am pretty sure it's a Time Gate. Something else that shouldn't exist in your universe." Not being one to be able to leave things alone the Doctor started to fiddle with the controls. "In theory when this machine is powered up it should be able to create a portal between the past and the present. As long as both sides are open they work as an anchor to stabilize the corridor in time. Why the Cybermen would've built it here however I can't say." She looked around at the dead cyborgs around them. "I assume they never had a chance to activate it."

As she continued fiddling with the controls Death's Head took an opportunity to lean over and look down into the crevasse in front of the group. The problem was however as he looked into the dark. Two red eyes stared right back. "Arm yourself, yes?" Death's Head cocked his rifle. "Not alone in here, yes?"

"I am grateful for that," Yamato showed gratitude towards Riker for moving him out of harm's way, "I haven't thought that the risk of blowing up this place has its worth." He turned to follow the group, occasionally looking back as an additional precaution. Eventually, he was greeted by the sight of what might have been a fiery battle that played out against the Cybermen's favor. He perceived the metallic humanoids as relatively weak entities, but that is not enough to measure the strength of whatever slaughtered them in this area.

"Remaining intact despite being in the middle of a conflict... Whatever conflict occurred here is clearly one-sided," he assumed to himself as he headed to the crevasse, near where Death's Head is standing. Just as the mechanical agent peered down the rift, he followed suit, noticing the presence of two red eyes. "Everyone, stand back from the crevice and prepare to engage with potential enemies!" Yamato announced as he paced backward, assuming a battle-ready stance. He began selecting the Demons that could complement his current skills without completely trashing the portal by accident, currently unable to change any of his skills as of the moment.

With Death's Head blocking the path between the group and the Weeping Angels, Kiba huffed and shook himself off before following the rest of the group where the odd portal was placed.

Hearing that there was a threat in the crevasse, a low growl rumbled deep in his chest as he bared his fangs and went into a ready stance for whatever may be down there.

"Sheesh, alright..." Miguel only said as the Doctor, by instinct, came running up to his side as he attempted to have a look at the strange machine that had caught his eye, the man raising his hands in an almost defensive gesture. As the eccentric woman explained to him and Riker what it was supposed to be, he raised a brow under his mask.

"A Time Gate that doesn't naturally exist, huh? If I had a nickel for every time I stumbled upon something like that... I mean, I guess I'd have like two or three, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened that many times."

...

"Anyway, I--" He began to say, before Death's Head brought to attention another presence that seemed to be waiting for them to take notice of them. Seeing the menacing red eyes practically glowing in the dark, the young hero stepped into stance, raising his dukes prepared to defend himself, but not reckless enough to throw the first punch.

"Why dontcha come out and say hello, unless you wanna get hurt, shockface!"

The being answered Migeul's taunt with a roar as it emerged from the crack. A massive serpent like creature of metal and flesh pulled itself into view. It roared with a raspy mechanical tinge. "KIIIIIIIIIRK!"

The time gate suddenly came to life and on the other end was something the Doctor didn't expect. Staring back at her was the face she hadn't seen in give or take a thousand years. "Wait...that's me!"

Meanwhile...a hundred years ago

While the group of the present had decided to go in the backdoor, the group of the past had had no choice but to go through the main door into the facility. They had chased Lenore and the Cyberman across space and a massive battle awaited the Enterprise when they arrived. Fighting their way through the hellish landscape the main group had found their way through the facility and into the room with the time gate, Meeting them was Lenore and even more Cybermen.

If Lenore was concerned with the group being there she didn't show it. "Amazing! You managed to get this far Kirk...and the rest of your lost children."

Kirk armed with his phaser glared at Lenore. "Stop this Lenore. We can still salvage this. Tell the Cybermen to lower their weapons and we'll take them and you into custody."

Lenore laughed in his face. "We're far beyond that!" Pressing a button the massive machine in the room came to life, which caused the Doctor's eyes to go wide.

"A time gate? Do you know what this is?" He said as he ran up to it.

"It's too late! Now that it's activated the present and the future will meet ending them both!"

"What do you mean?"

"She means," The Doctor replied fiddling with the controls. "That she's turned this thing into a weapon. If I can't get this to shut down then it will figuratively and literally fracture time and space." He looked into the gate. "Did you get all that, woman in weird clothes on the other side?"

The Present

The Doctor nodded to her past counterpart. "Loud and clear! Also I'm actually future you but we don't have time to go over that. You lot!" She shouted to Picard and the rest of the group. "We're going to try and get this gate shutdown! Now I'm going to need your help to keep that...thing! Occupied when I do it. You think you can do that?"

The monster roared again and fired off a blast of energy from its mouth towards the group.

"Actually, the name's S-Man, not Kirk. Easy to get 'em mixed up, I know!" Miguel exclaimed as the strange metallic snake made itself known to the group, the man's attempt at a quip mainly there to assuage his surprise at the shape and state of the thing.

He plainly didn't know what to make of the creature, but he was prepared to strike first and ask questions later before the Doctor spoke up, identifying herself through the time gate that had just opened before them all.

"Huh--?!" He could only blink incredulously under his mask as a curly haired man on the other side of the time gate spoke back to the Doctor, a man whom the woman seemed to hint was... her past self? "If that's really your past self, Doc, I dunno whether to tell you that you've aged like a fine wine or a milk!" He could only comment.

"Who are those people?!" A certain female voice, unfamiliar to Miguel, shouted from the other side of the portal, her voice muffled a bit from the chaos and distance from Miguel's earshot.

If Miguel felt inclined to respond to the woman on the other side, any traces of such thought were snuffed out when the robotic serpent fired a blast of energy toward everyone, prompting Miguel to backflip out of its range, the strength in his leg muscles allowing him to leap back several meters.

"Say no more, Doc. Distraction is my middle name, and action is my reward!" The hero exclaimed, and with that, sprung into action. Spinning a web at the ceiling, Miguel leapt up and swung right toward the creature with the intention of landing on it and sticking to it in true arachnid fashion, and attempting to climb up its neck. He already had a plan in place, but he'd have to rely on the help of others to keep its attention so that he wasn't swiped off like a bug on a windshield...

Gaze landing briefly on the faces of those on the other side of the time gate, Kiba released a huff before his gaze snapped back to their opponent when The Doctor asked them to keep it occupied.

Kiba did his best to run out of the way of the metallic serpent's beam of energy and as Miguel attempted to stick and climb up it's neck the artic wolf attempted to also get onto the serpentine body before them, hoping to sink his claws and teeth into any flesh he could reach and keep it's attention.

Yamato leaped sideways to avoid the cyborg serpent's mouth blast, landing on his feet and summoning a pair of Demons to aid him in battle. Shiki-Ouji, the demon made of paper materialized by Yamato's side once more, and opposite from it materialized a golden entity that resembled a large golden tri-winged clock.

Weak: Fire; Null: Physical

Active Skills:
+ Tetrakarn - Shiki-Ouji sets up a barrier that reflects one physical attack.
+ Bind Voice - Shiki-Ouji utters a command that awakens a curse and sends it towards multiple foes to paralyze them.
+ Makajamaon - Shiki-Ouji uses magic to seal away the magical power of multiple targets to mute them.

Passive Skills:
+ Grimoire - A sinister force that allows Shiki-Ouji to inflict ailments more easily.
+ Endure - Shiki-Ouji can endure a mortal hit once per fight.
+ Victory Cry - A mystical energy that gradually restores Shiki-Ouji's life force and mana.

Null: Light, Dark

Active Skills:
+ Mediarahan - A spell that strongly heals Yamato and his active party.
+ Samarecarm - A spell that restores a felled demon back to good health.
+ Luster Candy - Norn calls forth mystical energies that raise the stats of Yamato and his active party.

Passive Skills:
+ Mana Surge - Moderately increases Norn's maximum amount of mana.
+ Mana Aid - Gradually restores Norn's mana.
+ Heal Amp - An aura that amplifies Norn's healing skills.

Yamato and his pair of Demons took advantage of his Hustle Auto-Skill to position themselves between the time gate and the serpentine monster, taking up a defensive approach in contrast to S-Man and the wolf boy's aggressive approach as the paper demon positioned itself in front of its summoner to serve as a tank while Norn positioned itself behind Yamato to provide support from behind. With a single commanding gesture, Yamato then ordered Shiki-Ouji to bind the foe with Bind Voice, the Demon complying by muttering large strips of paper into existence.

While Yamato took time to fully "synchronize" to the estimated strength of the monster, the summoned strips of paper swarm to their target in a serpentine path like the roots of a beast-eating tree before leaping to the right side of its face, spreading apart like the unfurling fingers of a hungry beast and preparing to wrap its eyes and mouth shut. This should at least keep it distracted enough for anyone to land a couple of hits, or so Yamato hoped.

Yamato somehow felt a foreboding presence observe him from the other side of the gate seconds ago, but that should not be his priority.

"I suppose who you ask I suppose," The Doctor's replied in unison to Miguel before they glared at each other. Meanwhile, Picard and Riker readied their phasers towards the metallic monster and fired, both realizing and sense of diplomacy were utterly lost on it. Death's Head as well readied his blasters and fired off a salvo as the Doctor and...the Doctor worked on either side of the time gate to try and shut it down.

The attacks from the others kept the monster occupied enough for Miguel and Kiba to stay on it, though it wasn't making it easy for them as one of its arms clawed towards the two in an attempt to rip them off.

With help from Kiba's and Yamato's attacks on the creature, as well as the two Starfleet members and Death's Head, Miguel attempted to use their diversion to his advantage, crawling upon the metal serpent's body, hoping to reach its head, the man eventually perching atop it. With a labored grunt, he thrust his clenched fist forward, aiming his hand toward the creature's eyes, and...

Fwizzz!

Miguel spun a web right at its visual receptors, hoping to blind the creature and render it unable to deliberately hurt anyone at present. Even so, the man knew that, even if it was a robot, the most dangerous kind of animal was a cornered one, so he wasted no time afterward clenching his other fist and slamming both of his hands down, hoping to smash into the serpent and eventually bash it to nonfunction!

Kiba had expected it to retaliate, just not like this. At least it wasn't thrashing about too much at the moment.

With Miguel and Yamato aiming for the creature's face and head, Kiba attempted to avoid the swinging claws coming in his direction and claw and bite into any more exposed flesh while he could still stay on.

The monster screamed in anger when it got its eyes covered and continued its trashing, but the continuing attacks kept it busy. As Miguel's fists met metal it quickly started to buckle. As the pieces began to fall away he found a nasty surprise.

Inside of the frame was the mangled remains of a human. "Kiiiiiirk!" She shouted as she reached out towards Miguel.

"Eugh, jeez... You look how I feel in the morning, friend," Miguel wisecracked in the face of the mangled person inside the frame, reeling away just in time from her grasp. "I still don't know what you're angry about, but I guess this Kirk guy musta been a real heartbreaker. I mean, a grudge that lasts over a hundred years? At some point, you gotta let go!"

With that, the man took his turn to reach out and grab the unfamiliar, mangled person inside the machine. "I'll even be your wings for you!" He exclaimed, and with that, used his super strength to attempt to rip the mangled woman right out, assuming that, as the presumed core of the serpent, it would shut down once she was taken out of the equation!

@Jeremi @Chaos Sphere @Takumi @Yun Lee @Everybody

The screams of rage were suddenly changed to screams of pain as metal and wires were separated from flesh. What little there was left of the woman squirmed in Miguel's one final time before falling over. At the same time the massive machine frame started to shake and slip back into the crack taking Miguel and anyone else on it with it.

Meanwhile in the past

The fight on the other side of the time gate was all but won as well. The only one left standing was a wounded Lenore standing dangerously close to the crevasse with Kirk trying to talk her down. "Lenore it's over! Throw away the phaser and take my hand! I'll see to it that you'll get the proper care you need!"

It was clear for the others though that Lenore wasn't going to listen. "Again you ruin my chance at happiness! Again you tore my life away just as when you murdered my father!" With a trembling arm she raised her phaser. "Perhaps only your death will bring me peace..."

"I did it!" Came the shout from the Doctors from either side of the time gate. A final flick of a massive switch caused a surge of energy to cascade out from the portal before it fell in on itself. One of the beams hit the Doctor head on sending him falling to the ground while another slammed into the ground next to Lenore causing her and a piece of the ground to fall into the crevasse.

Kirk ran up to the opening only to find darkness staring back at him. It seemed that the past and the present had been triumphant...but what now?

The present

The Doctor had a pleased look on her face as the time gate vanished before her. "Hold your applause," The Time Lord replied while turning around triumphantly. "But I saved time and space. You're welcome."

As the machine frame seemed to shut down without its humanoid core powering it, Miguel leapt off as the serpent slid back down where it came from just in time. As he landed on the ground with the tortured soul still in his grasp, the man could only shake his head in disappointment. What sort of festering rage could drive someone to do this to themselves? The full answers eluded him, but perhaps with a universe this big, it wasn't wholly his business.

Tossing aside the remains of the mangled person, the futuristic hero walked over to the Doctor as the scene seemed to calm down, and the past seemed to come full circle to the present. "That's alright, Doc. Modesty doesn't seem to become you," he snarked, before crossing his arms and raising an inquisitive eyebrow underneath his mask.

"So what happens now? No chance of divine reward for being the big shocking hero, I take it?"

As the fleshy and mechanical monstrosity began returning to the crevasse, Kiba jumped down to where the rest stood. As the Doctor spoke, the arctic wolf simply huffed in response giving the sense of being exasperated.

As Miguel tossed aside the mangled remains and asked what they did next, Kiba went take sure their mangled enemy was indeed dead before he returned to his human form.

@Jeremi @Ver @Chaos Sphere @Yun Lee @Everyone

Kiba found after a quick look that the woman that had been inside the machine was very much dead.

"I don't know," The Doctor replied to Miguel. "But I think I know what had been causing the TARDIS to stick around. It was the Time Gate. Even in its inert state the time energy it was pulling from all over somehow caused it to get locked in this time and place. Twice over in fact."

"Doctor, that does sound rather far-fetched," Picard remarked to the Time Lord who just shrugged.

"Well what do you want? To just say I have no blooming clue about how any of this fits together? I'll look like a real fool if the TARDIS is still nonoperational when we get back. Speaking of if I was here before, how come I don't remember it at all? I'm old but I'm not THAT old, you know?"

Picard went next to the corpse and knelt down. "If what you're saying is true. We were embroiled in an invasion a hundred years in the making. I believe I know who this Kirk was that this woman was so clearly obsessed over. The thing I can't understand is why this wasn't in any of our databases."

"A lot of things in this situation makes very little sense," Riker chimed in. "A puzzle with missing half the pieces."

To this Picard solemnly nodded. "It will take awhile but I think we'll manage to get some sort of understanding of what we were part of here. For now let us leave this place and return to the Enterprise."

The next day

Captain's log supplemental

I have informed Starfleet of what has transpired and understandably they've had a hard time swallowing everything I've told them, but they agreed that studying the technology and the planet is in order. Meanwhile it seems like the Doctor's intuition was correct and they are ready to leave with the rest of the displaced group in their TARDIS. I just wish it had happened under better circumstances.

"Is everything in order?"
Picard asked the Doctor as they stepped out of the blue phone box still situated where it had originally emerged on the ship.

"Just about! I should be able to get everyone back to where they belong...after a few trial and errors I bet. Speaking of," She looked over to the group. "If you have anything to say now's the time to say it because otherwise we're getting this show on the road!"

"Don't got any baggage here to speak of, so no worries on my end," Miguel shrugged in response to the Doctor's words. "This may be a time machine, Doc, but I'm gonna pray I get home in a timely manner! Eh?" He quipped, before resting his hands on his hips.
