Introduction

View attachment 660
A world where humans live in an ancient-cultured civilization, their cities are nestled in a lush continent of high-treed jungles, vast verdant plains and majestic, snow-capped mountains. This utopian society has a very special gift: dinosaurs walk among them. They are intelligent and are faithful allies of the peaceful cities. They exist alongside humans, helping them and being helped in return. They carry loads, build, even take part in sporting events and games. From the mighty sauropods to the tiniest bird-like reptiles, all are friends and welcome.
The cities have a task force made of humans and their bonded dinosaur companions. Only very special people can bond with very unique dinosaurs and both learn an ancient mind-linked tongue simply called ‘Old Speech’. Once one learns old speech one can communicate like this with any other individual who knows it. These special dinosaurs are called ‘Elder souls’ for they possess souls that have existed since the dawn of time, together, human and dinosaur are given the title Kunpari. These bonded pairs are protectors of the cities and keepers of peace.
But they are not the only ones capable of a special bond. There are more brutal forces also harnessing the power. There are several factions, allying most closely with the carnivorous animals that detest the restrictions placed on them. They believe that the world should be ruled by the strong, and the ban on hunting dinosaurs is an insult to the forces of nature that made them strong.
People and dinosaurs with these ideals were mostly driven out of the utopian societies, however many still exist beyond the civilized borders, confined to an area called ‘The Darklands’ and want nothing more than to topple the cities and plunge everything back into the simple rules of hunter and hunted. To them, the Kunpari are the greatest obstacle, and they will not rest until the dinosaur knights are destroyed.

- All STC’s rules apply and will be followed on pain of expulsion.
- This will be a literate rp and I want at least a paragraph per post. I understand writers block happens, but this is the minimum length I expect on average.
- Please respect all players
- Follow the CS outline I provide, putting the length I ask for in the specific sections and post it in the character repository thread I’ve made. Please do not use point form anywhere in the profile. Full sentences only.
- I am fully aware that many of these species did not exist at the same time, it’s more fun this way.
- You can play as one or both of a bonded pair, human and dinosaur as part of these Utopic communities. If you wish to play the partner of another player’s character you must first ask that person.
- For now I will limit applications to only characters in the cities on the side of good. The characters from the Darklands will remain npcs.
- I will allow some prehistoric mammals such as sabretooth cats because they are favorites but generally your companion must be able to move relatively quickly or be able to fight. I.e. I do not want to see any gliptodontes in here. In the end however I would like most submissions to be dinosaurs.
- Choose the size of your companion carefully. You need to think things through. There are thoroughfares for large dinosaurs but most of the city streets will only fit dinosaurs about the size of elephants. A brachiosaurus is massive and cool but likely would not fit in most places within a city and may be cut out of certain scenes as a result, generally up to the size of an elephant is ideal.
- There are a few carnivorous species that are not allowed in the cities and cannot be “Elder souls’ and this is anything in size larger than allosaurus (therapod half the size of T-rex) for reasons which will become clear. Carnivores that are permitted in the cities are forbidden from eating the flesh of humans and dinosaurs alike and instead are restricted to the mammalian livestock animals humans keep for food. The Elder souls are also repulsed by the idea of eating what they consider to be kin, regardless of species.
- Dinosaurs can be whatever colour you want though try and keep it semi-realistic. Hot pink is a very rare occurrence in nature.
- There is still debate on whether or not giant pterosaurs could actually fly, so I’ll say it here, in this rp, they can.

Common Job Classes

Large sauropods:
contribute to building and moving heavy supplies. They can also be adorned with plush rugs and cabs to carry families of importance on special days.
Pterosaurs: Are the ace fliers, generally scouts in times of peace but can also be brought into combat. There are also aerial acrobatics competitions as well as races through spectacular gorges and canyons with human riders.
Small sauropods and ceratopsians: the general they move small loads, help people in farming, gathering food, pulling small carts. They can also be armoured and trained for combat. Some few are trained as racers for the colosseums, guided by human riders.
Therapods: mainly in the military or trained for sparing sports, they can also be raced and take part in cross-country agility trials.
Thyreophorans (stegosaurs and ankylosaurs etc.): mainly help in terraforming and infrastructure placement. They help build farms and clear space for new buildings. They are also decorated splendidly and many are employed in the palaces and high villas.

The dinosaur knights:
All city dwellers have the ability to become part of a Kunpari pair. The Kunpari are charged with protecting the city, standing against evil and keeping peace both within the cities and between them. They act as ambassadors, messengers to royalty, warriors and teachers. The life of a kunpari bears much responsibility and they deal in any dilemma from fighting battles to solving small local disputes.

Locations
Tolares
The cities are home to the most diverse collection of creatures. One in particular stands at the center in both size and splendor: The city of Tolares. Tall, Grecian-styled columns decorate many of the buildings from palaces to sculptor’s studios to libraries. The streets are paved in smooth stone, the cobbles rounded from use. The entire settlement is built at the edge of a cliff, with the rear of the palace overlooking the vast flatlands. From there the city slopes down gently, back inland, creating tiers of buildings and stone ramps that lead to them. The front of the city opens to greet the forests before which sits a patchwork of farmland that feeds the city. To the right, just inside the gates a river flows, canalized when in the city limits to create a wide channel for boats and a bathing area for tired workers after a long day.

(More cities will be added later)

Flatlands
The flatlands are home to the largest dinosaurs, the sauropod giants and big carnivores. They are vast, sprawling seas of grass dotted with tall trees and rich marshlands.

View attachment 679
Forests
The old forests are home to the smaller sauropods, ceratopsians and thyreophorans. These jungles support trees forty stories high and are teaming with life from the forest floor to the highest canopy.

View attachment 680
Mountains
The mountains are where many of the ancient mammal species reside, rocky, snow-capped peaks and alpine plateaus create the perfect habitat for creatures with thick feathers or fur.

View attachment 681
Sea canyons
Deep rocky canyons and high-walled shorelines provide homes for many pterosaurs and pterodactyls. These sprawling cliff sides flank the flatlands and overlook an expansive, shining sea. This is also the favoured training ground for the Pterosaur flight corpse of Tolares.

These different species are by no means confined to their habitat types and many different animals can be seen roaming any landscape.

Darklands
Then there are the Darklands, a vast stretch of stony, desert-like plateaus and steep sandy canyons. Bubbling geysers are frequent as are the vapid salt pools that turn their surroundings white and pits of sticky tar that bruise the landscape as far as they eye can see. Fresh water is a rarity in these lands and greenery even more so.

Do we make a second bio for the dinosaur as well as the human? Also if I may ask, can there be different knightly chapters within the Dinosaur Knights, like some to defend the city, some to go on the offensive etc?

Yes, I would like a bio for the dinos and chapters sounds like a great idea. Go for it!

Hey, I kind of want to join this, but I'm interested if there is a possibility of me being something other than a common class:

Archaeopteryx (A winged, feathered theropod that can fly): mainly used for delivering messages to far away lands, but can also be enlisted in the army. Under the control of special trained "Bird Masters", these smaller sized dinosaurs can be quite lethal.
