Zara's Park Tournament

Melissa cursed. The herd! "No... Jacob, we need to alert the Park Rangers." She wondered what the heck had just happened. How had they gotten away so fast?

Jacob couldn’t help but let his anger at them having somehow gotten away like the cowards they were. Silently, he turns on his heel and makes his way over towards the last remaining Ponyta. “They just took your entire family.” He says simply once he was facing the Ponyta. “I plan on hunting them down, and retrieving that herd. I’m offering you the chance to join me in finding your parents. Otherwise you can stay here.”

He holds his hand out towards the Ponyta.

"I'll help too." Melissa said. She still thought that they should at least inform the Park Rangers. But then again, there was only so much they could do. They had a whole park to take care of. Melissa and Jacob might be two people. But they could also try to find these guys.

The Ponyta walks up to Jacon. It didn't seem to hear Jacob as it sniffs his chest, where its mother had kicked the trainer. The kick had left off a small bit of the mother's scent which the Shiny Ponyta was naturally attracted to. The smell mixed with Jacob's natural smell making the baby believe that the trainer was, in a way its mother as it began nuzzling Jacob like it would a parent.

"I think it thinks you're its mom." Melissa grins at Jacob. "I guess the question is what we're going to do with it. You could take it, or we could turn it over to the park rangers. Either way, we should get moving. One thing we can't do is leave it here by itself."

Jacob nodded, a bit weirded out even as he withdrew a park ball and tapped it against the shiny Ponyta’s side, the Pokémon disappearing into the ball with a small sound. As the capture process went underway, he looks over towards Melissa.

“You’re right in saying that we need to alert the rangers. We’ll do it when we get to the next town.” He says, looking down at the softly shaking ball in his hand.

"Sounds good to me. That was weird, though. I mean, why were they talking like that?" Melissa wondered. She returned her Gardevoir to her Pokeball.

The ball shook once....twice....then three times before it clicks.

Congratulations you have captured ♀Ponyta! It seems to have an unusual color.

Moves: Tackle, Ember, Growl, Tail Whip
Ability: Flash Fire
NOTE: The Pokemon seems to have a healthy dose of curiosity and lots of energy.

After checking the Ponyta’s stats and abilities, Jacob confirmed his feeling that the foal was still quite young. He would need to train it in order to lean new moves, but that would come later. Turning towards Anna and Jason, he crouches and rewards them both with a pat on the head. “You two did well. Proud of you both.” He smiles, getting an excited tail wag and an embarrassed humph in return.

He looks over at Melissa. “Probably the same reason they looked like team aqua knockoffs. Seems that this group is going for a more Templar theme.”

"Probably. Ugh. I hate people like them. Is the Ponyta alright?" Melissa picked up her Pikachu and put her on her shoulder as she spoke.

“Yeah, the Ponyta’s fine. I’m going to think on what name I should give her while we move. Can’t just keep calling her Ponyta. It’d be like if someone named me ‘Human’.” He replies, tucking his Park gear away and striaghtening.

“Come on. Lets get to the next zone. It’ll be a while, so who knows, maybe we’ll find another Pokémon. Or more of those guys.” He walks past her there, enjoying the sunlight and faint breeze of the plains. As bad as what had just occurred was, it wouldn’t be his first time having to deal with some bullying organisation. Then again, those other times was just taking out a grunt and then running like hell, so maybe this was a bit different.

The two went on their way through the grasslands. The day turns to noon and the sun was at its hottest as it beats down on the land. Strangely enough it wasn't that hot as a cool breeze was passing through. In the tall grass close to them, a Purrloin was just finished off 3 cans of Pokemon food, stolen from its previous victims. It reaches for a can and holds it upside down to eat some more food, but when nothing came out, it looks into the can to confirm that it was indeed empty. It checks the other cans to make sure that they were all empty before giving a tried sigh and tossing the can away.

With all its food gone, the pokemon had nothing to sustain it for the night. That might change when its sensitive ears picks up the sound of human footsteps. The pokemon pokes its head out of the tall grass and looks out at the trail to see two unsuspecting trainers with their packs probably stuffed with food. The purple mastermind began to track the two, thinking up a way to swindle the two of their loot.

In front of the pair, on the main road is a pair of trainers, other contestants it would seem. A 16 year old boy with brown hair wearing green cap, a black jacket, white undershirt and blue jeans with a trio of pokeballs hanging from his belt and a 15 year old girl with red hair tied into a braid wearing a green and tan dress frantically looking around the tall grass for something. The 16 year old follows her having a look of disinterest at her predicament. As he wasn't the one searching, he was the first to spot the two trainers. He raises his hand and calls out to the two.

"Hey you guys trainers?" He asks them from afar. "Have you guys found a Purrloin with a bunch of canned rations?"

Jacob glances around, but doesn’t spot anything out of the ordinary. Certainly not a purrloin. He shakes his head. “Nah I haven’t seen one either. Although it’s good to know they’re around here. They can be sneakier than a weavile.” He comments. “If you want, I have a Mightyena. He could sniff it out?”

"Doubt it. Leah's been trying her hardest looking for the miscreant but by now I think it's gone by now." Said the young trainer as he walks up to the two. "Names Charles, but I go by Chuck." He said and he holds out his hand to shake. "The girl over there is Leah. She's the one who lost our food in the first place and she's been tracking it down for the past hour or so."

"Melissa," Melissa introduced herself. "We'll keep an eye out for it." Pikachu lept from Melissa's shoulder and looked around, as if looking for the Purloin herself, making Melissa chuckle just a bit.

“And i’m Jacob.” Jacob adds on, eyes glancing towards the roaming pikachu as his hand reaches forward to shake Chuck’s, nodding towards Leah. These two seemed of a decent sort, and it wasn’t as if a Pokémon stealing things was rare.

“Say, have you two seen some weird guys with crystals running around? They talk kind of funny, too. Like they’re from the dark ages or something.” He asks them, figuring that it couldn’t hurt to ask. Might help him in finding out more about those thieves.

Chuck looks rather confused. He tries to remember if he's seen anything or met anyone like that but when his memories failed him, he turns his head to look at Leah. "Hey Leah! Did we see any medieval cosplayers on the way here?" Leah didn't seem to hear as she climbed deeper into the tall grass looking for the Purrloin. "Hey Leah!" He raised his voice and finally Leah pulls her body and head from the tall grass, showing that twigs and grass are tangled in her hair.

"Yes Charles? Did you find the food?" She asks.

"Not yet. By the way, on our way out here did you remember if you saw any strange people a while ago? Like some medieval style cosplayers?" Chuck asks and Leah thinks about it for only a second before she shakes her head. The red head immediately jumps back into the tall grass looking for their things. Chuck turns back to the two trainers.

"Yeah we haven't. Sorry about them. What's so important about these guys anyways? I mean are you two part of a rival renaissance fair or something?" He jokes.
