A Strange Town

Jennifer raised her eyebrows at that comment.
“Patron? Is that like a chaperone of sorts? You seem a bit young to be stealing with no help besides Gale and Marina.”
An expert of magic, that’s what Jennifer needed, and yet...didn’t need.

“I feel like I can help with magic, but that magical part with all the knowledge seem to be...locked. Gone, but not.”
It was hard to explain, and Jennifer didn’t want to explain it. So she turned her attention to the time, and looked up to see if it was getting late yet.
@Alissa Ming

"Not exactly. We're all eighteen, and I've been a thief since I was, oh, six or so. No, a patron is someone who pays you to do something for them. They're like your sponsor or whatever." Amber wasn't sure how to explain what a patron was. "And this actually isn't my full crew. We're down a member. We'll figure it out as we go. It's what we're good at."
@MelodyMeister

Near where the two men are, is a tinkerer of strange artifacts.
@Maluon @ShadowCoyote0

"Well, I'm assuming she'll be consistent and come to your house. Maybe put up a few camera's, catch her in the act, break a few knee caps and then blackmail the truth out of her" His more criminal side came to mind as he recited this

"Oh, sounds like a great idea. I mean...It's creepy just how much it looks like my body..." Helen shuddered a little, wondering just who would do something like this and why.
@Kanassa

"Ah, good to see you don't have many qualms about the knee cap breaking. Most of my previous acom- friends look at me strangely when I mention that. We are friends, aren't we Helen?" He crossed his arms and smiled at her.

Helen gulped, and crossesd her arms tightly. She didn’t ave very much qualms, but..
“Yeah, friends...Don’t you think something less brutal and personal would be better though? If we get caught, we might get shot by the police.”
Helen made a nervous, but dark chuckle.
“Waterboarding would be another option. My dealer told me that it was a great way to get the victims spilling out secrets.”
@Kanassa

"There's always qualms, but as long as you have enough baking soda-" At her final comment Torian froze, slowly doing a double take at Helen, even pulling forward his shades to squint at her. "Where have you been all my life?"

The sun was starting to descend, perhaps it might be a good idea to get your shopping done and go back home. Or maybe do something..uh, not so legal, in the dark cover of the night?
A heist maybe?

She stopped for a moment with a shocked expression, as if she had an epiphany. But she then shook off the strange expression.
“Um..I’m not really sure! I’ve been here for nearly as long as I remember!”

Helen noticed the crowd of students who just finished school and pulled Torian to whisper to him.
“Look, I’m pretty curious as well, so if you want the truth, I suggest you start by pulling the girl from that group. You can do the water boarding and bone breaking stuff later.”
@Kanassa

(Sorry, my stuff hadn't updated in a while, so I didn't even realize people had responded.)

Amber relished the night. It was her closest companion. Yes, she could work during the day, and even utilized it at need, but the night was better. Even with the bright colors of her cloak, it was harder to see in the dark. She glanced at two of her closest friends. "Gale, Marina, go back to Jennifer's house. You guys will, naturally be our tech support." Marina and Gale nodded. Amber turned to Jennifer, unsure of what to have her do. If Gai had been here, she would have had him causing a distraction via his fighting skills. However, she didn't know exactly how Jennifer could help. It was unlikely she'd be able to be as quiet or agile as Amber, and that was without the magic she could not seem to control.

"You're saying that like pulling a random schoolgirl from a group WON'T look suspicious as all hell"

Helen chuckled a little again, and frowned when she noticed the sun setting. She had night shift, again.
“Come on, I expected a bit more tact. I don’t recommend tricking her with lollies, I’ve heard she was rather smart. Do something stupid and interesting, and she’ll follow! As far as I know, she’s strong in mind, not in bod-”
“Helennn! You’ve got work to do!”
As a whiny voice came from the shop, Helen growled a little, and began to turn back to the store.
“Anyways, good luck buddy.”

Jennifer sighed, and stared at the statue for a while.
“It seems that the shards go in here. I wonder what they uncover..”
Spacing out for just a moment, She heard Amber, and gave her an uncharacteristic serious look, instead of that fake smile she always had.
“Sorry, I’m not really sure what to do. But I think I can cause a distraction, or even uh, ‘take on’ one of them. A lie is something I’m good at, and I know that hitting someone on the head can kill them. A little murder won’t be anything much, if I covered it up.”
@Alissa Ming

"Ah, the whole lead down the alley routine. If only I had a midget..." He pats Helen on the shoulder, pulling her into a mini side hug and wonders off, as he passes the school children he intentionally looks around as if he was paranoid about someone following him, his hands hiding something under his coat.

The school children, well, the more smarter ones, kept away from the janitor naturally. Didn’t he know someone with his behaviour had amany rumours. He could hear the little girls whispering softly.
“There’s him. Over there.”
“Isn..’t he a secret agent in disguise.”
“No, where did you hear it from? He’s a revolutionaire..”

Whispers like this kept going, dividing the fearful school girls and the older ones.
Finally in the back, Torisn would be able to see that tall girl, with her eyes devoted to a notebook. She was easy to spot, no one else was near her.
@Kanassa

Amber shook her head. "No murder, please. As for the shards, I guess we'll have to find out, won't we?" She thought about what Jennifer had said about causing a distraction. "Still, it might be best if you act as distraction, rather than trying to keep up."
Gale said, "If she's going to be helping, then she needs a communicator, Amber."
"True."

That was true, Jennifer was pretty, kind looking, and had a charm to her. If anyone could be a distraction, it would be her.
“What’s a communy-cator?”
Jennifer had put her hand out to receive the item, although she raised an eyebrow on what it was. Still, she looked determined. She was ready, and the night was coming soon.
@Alissa Ming

Amber thought for a moment. "It's how we keep in touch over great distances." She motions to her ear. "I'm not sure what you have here in the way of electronics and security systems, but depending on where we end up on one of our jobs, Gale hacks the security systems then lets me know it's down. He can't do that from our base without a way for me to hear him from the location I'm at. We never know how far we're going to be from each other at any given time." As Amber spoke, Gale reached into his bag, and fished out an earpiece.
"You put this in your ear." he said. "You'll be able to hear us, as well as talk to us."

"I see, it seems exceptionally useful. Thank you."
Jennifer took Gale's earpiece and awkwardly put it on. It was clear this stuff was new to her. But she had a determined face, and gave Amber a good luck sign.
"As far as I know, there are ten or so council members, but three only come out during special occasions. As far as I know, I don't think they have a signifcantly large shard, so we can make do..Oh yeah, take this, by the way, I don't need it."

Jennifer reached into her dress and took out a make-shift map. On it, it showed the general locations.
The council members mostly were gathered around the central area. There was two on the far right and one on the left corner. The thing was...there was a lot of security at the left corner, since it was the sleazy bars and black market section. And worse, the centre did have a couple of night stores, so it was possible they would be seen.

"I got this from a rather...strange girl. She's kinda say, off her rocker, but her information is very reliable. So I'm sure there isn't any other major factors."
@Alissa Ming

He resisted smiling a little, he always liked to hear rumors abound, though they just made him wish he was a secret agent; they were awesome! Selling his act as the bottom of his coat caught the back of his feet, causing him to 'trip' forward awkwardly as he passed the lone girl.

Amber nods. "Great. Thanks. This map should help. Alright, we want to strike while it's dark. Everyone be careful, what with the curfew. If it can be helped, we don't want to be caught in the streets after hours. I really don't want any of us in jail."

The girl stopped and turned around, with a blank look on her face. It was hard to tell what she was thinking, but she was staring at Torian.
She must have recognised him, since she was obviously talking to herself about something, and she was reaching for her bag. She put it behind her back, but it seemed like a camera. Apparently.
“Excuse me! I want to kinda talk to you!”

Like a little naive girl, The girl was walking towards Torian. Doesn’t she know that it was curfew time soon?
@Kanassa
—————-
“The guards are usually around the left corner, but some are in the centre watching over the stores. The right side is mostly just the school and some recreation areas, so only one council member is there, and very few guards.”

It seemed the right side was the best place to start, when all the students leave that is. The centre seemed to be the most dangerous considering the stores and since most of them are there. The left corner has a gate, not to mention the drunkards.
“I don’t think we need to worry, the guards are usually on their own, and most of them are um...not very smart, let’s say. Anyways, Miss Dawn, where should we go first?”
