World Building Group Thread (our RP name is a WIP) [OOC]

I have an appropriate race as well already set to go whenever you guys eyes. They're fairly adaptable to any biodome save an artic climate.

We could have many different biomes, but a major city that is part of a trade route? I think that would be a great place to center a bunch of activity.

Here are the biomes I wrote up. If there's anything else people want to put in tell me.

Steppes -
A large flat area of unforested grasslands with little to no trees for miles upon miles, with brief wet seasons that allows for the grass and small trees and shrubs to grow.
Desert - A twisting land of sand and sparse vegetation where it can be blisteringly hot in the morning while freezing when it is night. Rain is fair and few between, but when it does the desert seems to bloom with life.
Mountainous - A range of tall mountains that graze the skies. While the mountains can have temperate temperatures near the base, the higher you go up towards the peaks the colder and thinner the air tend to get.
Tundra - A desolate landscape filled with ice, rock and snow. It is cold all year round with most plant life being found in the form of lichen and moss. Only the hardiest of animals are capable of living in this climate where the summers are freezing and the winters are even worst.
Jungle - A biome of dense vegitation and an bloated ecosystem. The jungles have but two seasons, that is periods of hot temperatures and humid air and times of hot temperatures and dry air.
Swamp - Swamps are often times wet, muddy and prone to flooding. There is as much water as there is land and what land there is is often made of mud or soggy. What water there is isn't safe however as many dangers lurk inside be it deadly predators, methane bubbles or even the consuming mud pits.
Taiga - The Taiga, or snow forest is a biome of dense trees and low shrubbery as well as frequent slowly periods and low temperatures. Warm periods can happen, but it is usually not as warm as areas like the Steppes.
Woodlands - The Woodlands is temperate land covered in trees and various other foliage. It is not too hot nor too cold, but the season changes brings an added level of challenge. The woodland as a 4 seasonal periods and temperatures it goes through yearly that is Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
Ocean - The Ocean is a vast expansive area of water that wraps around the entire planet, separating entire landmasses many thousands of miles apart. Life is diverse, but is found in vast pockets across the ocean, meaning only certain areas of the ocean can sustain any sort of meaningful population.
Cavern - Life is adaptable and hardy. If the conditions are even the slightest bit right, and life can spring up anywhere, even in the dark rocky caverns where no light shines life can appear. There is little to not light in the caverns and space is often limited, but there is enough water to sustain a population in the form of groundwater.

Those sound good to me! I've got an idea or two kicking around when we get more specific about what we want in terms of factions and population centers as well.

Aye! Sorry I have been AWOL, guys. I only have the usual excuses, RL stuff and all. Anyways my only thought is on your biomes, Chel, that I would like to invent new ones as we progress as well. So I think we should basically leave blank what doesn't have content, until we have a great idea for it. That's just my philosophy though. I like your list, all in all, though. You might add "Woodlands", or something to represent areas that get enough rain to be covered in vegetation but not quite enough to be a jungle, and has four seasons?

No problem. I'll add in woodlands and perhaps caverns and swamps as biomes as well? To make it 10 biomes as I am slighly OCD.

I like the idea of caverns! My idea was an underground area may be a city or province or small kingdom depending on how things are getting set up.

I've got my own race I'll be using. They have their own factions within the race. They are primarily interested in living in the dessert. However, that doesn't mean that they won't travel from time to time.

I have my own race as well, primarily mountains and forested areas will be best. Will also have their own factions within

....Robot kings? That's what I'm thinking of at least. Anyone want a CS? Cause I can provide a VERY long and detailed one.

CS? Also, you should note that VERY long doesn't always mean better. Sometimes it just means that busy people scan it and skip reading most of it. Quality, not quantity. That's what counts. Lol

I have my own race I'm going to be using as well. And the biom the usually preside in is not in the list. They usually preside around volcanoes or swamps. Though mountains could work. They are a tribal based race.
