Twisted Gifts

Vinny had meant to ask whether they would be up to experiments later that day or if they would have the time to themselves. It was about the only bit of variety left in their day other than the daily disasters.
Speaking of which.
Vinny's eyes widened as a bird boy crashed down in the hallway a few feet away. He thought he'd seen them before but wasn't overly sure. He shared looks with Ellen and Ashton as the traffic in the hall stopped. It started up again pretty quickly-even the oddities weren't that uncommon these days. Vinny sped up a little on his long legs as the bird boy checked themselves over. Must suck not having hands to catch themselves with. "Hey kid, you alright?" he asked. He glanced around for some staff. If he was injured surely one of them would be looking to protect his precious gift.

Ashton let out a yelp, jumping back and tumbling to the floor as out of no where as someone came crashing into the hallway, hitting the wall with a thud. Scrambling to his feet, moving much faster than usual due to the forcefields around his arms and legs along with the one on his side, Ashton followed after Vinny. As he got closer to the kid he instantly recognized them, though he couldn't quite remember their name, only that it started with an 'S'. Aston was much better at faces than names, only really knowing Vinny and Ellen due to seeing them most everyday. "They're awake and breathing, so that's good." Ashton stated plainly adjusting his glasses a bit.

Ellen jumped a few seconds after a boy with wings crashed down onto a floor, really loudly. He was..ah, she read his name on a clipboard one time during an experiment.
“Is your name Shobi? The boy with the wings?”
Although her voice was slow and gentle, it was sort of giving out a tone of superiority, as if Shobi was a poor, little soul suffering from his powers.

Ellen shouldn’t have been the one to think like that, given her own powers, but seriously? When has she crashed into stuff? And it couldn’t have even been that hard to use wings, birds had wings instead of arms, and they had no trouble with crashing.
...Oh right, she should probably stop staring at him, that really could scare someone.

“Is everything ok down there?”
Melody ran down the hallways, spilling quite a bit of her breakfast, that to say, she spilled a crap ton of beans on herself, along with the sauce. She only noticed when she stopped at where they were.
“Ah, sorry, I’m setting a bad image for you..Anyways, I heard a bang and I ran down here to see if one of you got a gun or something. Oh, yeah, the kid over there, are you alright?”

Melody recognised Shobi, but didn’t remember his name. She must have looked quite stupid, with her still holding a plate of English breakfast, and a orange stain on her coat.

((@garlic you there?))

Shohi grumbled. People shouldn’t really be making a big deal about this. “I’m fine,” he huffed “Just fell. The walls are too narrow.” He felt awkward, after all everyone was staring at him.

He tried to move, thinking everything was fine. He didn feel like anything was broken. However, his left wing started hurting, making him seethe in pain. This was the first time one of his wings got hurt, and it was strange to say the least.

Ember knew something was going on down the hall, but all he could think about was how tired he was. It was only his first day here, and he didn’t know any of these people. He’d just go back to the rooms and go back to sleep, just like he did back at home.

Melody gave a sheepish smile to Shobi. But stared at his wing with concern.
"Yeah, sorry, the hallways aren't built for fatties. No wait, I meant, it's not built for people with wider characteristics."
There she was, stumbling over her words again, goodness. She looked at the group up and down.
"Wow, you've got quite the circle. I'm assuming you're all going to breakfast or a recreation area? Must be nice to have friends or comrades, right?"

Ellen seemed unemtional, and sure enough, she mostly was, but she still was concerned for Shobi. Must suck.
"Are you alright?"
After saying that, she felt a pang of hunger, and her stomach rumbled.
"Say, miss, where is the cafeteria again?"
The caretaker seemed to be surprised her question, and replied hesistantly. Idiot.
"Well, about that...I forgot."
"...Ah you kidding me?"
"Well, I think its close by, so uh, good job getting here?"
The caretaker was clueless, and if it wasn't for the fact she wasn't a morning person and wasn't feeling emotional, she would have complained.

Ember opened his eyes once more to find a caretaker leaning over his bed, staring at him with quite the scowl. “I’m not a morning person” Ember said, before the caretaker had a chance to speak. “So what if you’re not a morning person? There is a strict schedule, which includes you getting out of bed.” Ember stares at the caretaker, shook his head, and fell back asleep.

Ember pulled up the covers and peeked back at the caretaker, snickering. The caretaker looked like they wanted to kick him out of bed... with their foot. He hit the jackpot- a short tempered caretaker. They were throwing their arms up in exasperation looking at a camera which he could only assume the scientists were behind. The caretaker realized Ember was toying with them and whipped the covers off the bed and stared at him very intensely “you’re kinda creeping me out.” They pointed towards the bedroom exit. Ember snatched back the blanket and pretended to sleep. The caretaker so so furiou, they pulled the mattress off his bed- with him on it. “Okay, okay. Jeez. A bit short tempered huh?” The caretaker just stared at him. He probably took it a bit far. He had a feeling this would come back to bite him later.
