Lucy had to put a hand over her nose. She was used to the sight of death, obviously, but she wasn't quite so used to the smell of old corpses. As Lucy usually just passed by those she killed, she rarely saw the sight of not freshly-cut-up corpses, and definitely didn't see rotting covered up corpses that died from some kind of disease often. The sight was quite unusual to her. Weren't dead bodies often spewing with blood? And out in the open?

As the others looted the body, Lucy looked up at the ladder. If only she had her vectors, and then she would get up no problem. But now, she was like that vector-less, unfortunate diclonius that Nana sensed. She couldn't climb up even with her light weight since the ladder looked like it would break any moment. She yelled up the ladder for those two girls to hear. Why did they have to depend on those two girls?

"Less talking, more working before the ladder falls apart. Getting a key in a hole can't be taking so long."

She was eager to get out of this room as well. But for now, she simply had to make sure that the two girls in charge of getting her out don't lose their one chance. While the crate over there opened up a disgusting smell of something dangerous, she was going to do something far more productive and pleasant.

"Let's make sure this tarp gets up before the ladder falls down. Otherwise everyone is stuck here."

Megatron could still transform into his vehicle mode, though it was not very useful within this space.

@Crow

When the tarp was moved to reveal what had fallen, it turned out to be a dead human body. An intense, sickening smell overcame the room. Isa gagged and coughed, unable to respond to Larxene for the moment. The body was dressed in the attire of a soldier and his face was red and bloated. On his belt was a single pistol and a ring of keys with two separate keys.

Isa continued to cough, though whether it was due to the smell or Larxene putting his arm around him was unclear. "Who--?" He grimaced and pulled away from her, finding himself annoyed with her for a reason beyond her just being touchy. He exchanged glances between Larxene and the dead body, his mind unable to comprehend exactly what was happening. Isa had never seen such a thing before... or at least, so he believed. "... Doesn't look like it'll be long for any of us," he said to Larxene.

As for the tarp, it was tough and sturdy, evidently strong enough to hold at least a single adult male in suspension. With the tarps down, the two storage crates could be opened from the front.

The ladder and scaffolding creaked loudly once Sera started climbing up. It was a long way up, too big for anyone to get up to without the ladder. It didn't seem at risk of falling, at least for the moment.

Suddenly, a light above the closed door between the storage crates turned green.

"A soldier who dies with bullets in his gun... shameful" Sinestro began to search the corpse for any identifying features, name badges or signs of rank. "Whoever or whatever killed this man, it did so some time ago. Bodies don't smell right away. That would imply that we are not in any immediate danger ourselves. Still... It will be valuable to find out the standing of this bag of bones... if he was decorated and armed when he died, then we might be in trouble; people who die in accidents rarely have enough life to wrap their bodies in tarp... this was a murder..."
Megatron remained silent through Hela's compliments. The thought of leading a faction after (unsuccessfully) disbanding the Decepticons, that was something.

"A slap on the wrist, as they say, until she does so again. While I have picked the path of mercy, many others may not," Megatron responds, "do not waste this provided chance, Hela. Do not threaten or hinder us again."

And so they have arrived in the room.

Megatron attempts to shift the metal plating on his body, seeing if whatever took their powers took his ability to transform into his vehicle mode. If successful, he would transform back.

"Using human physiology as a basis for 'superhuman'. How quaint. Not that my transformation will help in an indoor area such as this one."

Megatron looks at the shaky ladder.

"I respect your decision, General.. she is still useful" Sinestro deactivated his dying ring, erasing his remaining constructs and returning his uniform to its traditional colours. With its charge depleting at an accelerated rate, he knew that he needed to reclaim his traditional weapon sooner rather than later; the slapdash counterfeit wouldn't be enough to take on Hela should she turn on them again. Beyond that, Hela had taught them all a valuable lesson; going against the will of the group would not go well. "We should remain vigilant. I doubt she will accept her fall from grace... gracefully..."
Cinder would not be able to gather any fire. Her powers were completely drained.

The pistol contained six bullets, as evident by the clip of ammo it contained. The keys also looked rather rustic as they were old lever-type keys. The man himself did not have any external wounds to indicate he had died via a murder. It was undiscernable if the man had died from some kind of poison or if it had been a deadly pathogen. "Don't go near him!" Isa blurted out, his eyes going wide. He looked around for a moment but, after a moment, was embarrassed over his outburst. "... He looks sick."

The door with a green light above it had no sort of spot on or around it to place a key. It was a large metal door that pulled up like a garage door, but it seemed stuck in place for the moment.

The ladder did not break or rumble further until Sera reached the top. From there, the metal scaffolding moved in a circle around the wall to a door all the way across from the ladder. This door was locked and looked like it required a key. The scaffolding held strong, at least with only Sera's weight. The structure did shake when Candi started to climb up as well, though it still seemed to be holding.

As for the crates, they opened just fine without any key.

Unless, of course, his sickness is airborne, at which point we're all already dead..." A charming thought to go with a charming scene.

Avoiding the toxic crate, Akande looked into the one with the other items. "Perhaps we can tie some of these together with the tarp, tie it up there, and get a few more people on that scaffolding?"

The feeling of the gun against his hand felt nice. It was weird to think about, but even though Will himself had a gun before getting here, he had never held. The last time he has felt a gun against his hand wasn't his own memory. It was the RK800-60 memories that showed that. He didn't mind the gun and made sure to not pull the trigger as he held it close. " Do either of you two need a key up there? It's NOT needed on the crates," Will shouted to the girls up above. Will also tried to open the crate.

"B-be careful miss Candi! I Please don't get hurt..." Ashe responded as he saw Candi go up the ladder.

So the containers didn't require key and that door didn't look it it'd be moving anytime soon. Also Isa did have a point when he looked at the body again from afar. So that led to the question of what the keys were used for.

"That's good thinking there.. Perhaps something up there requires a key..." Ashe spoke in a way slightly praising Will when it came to thinking that perhaps the keys go up there.

"Yeah, I'll take one! You never know when there's gonna be a keyhole and you don't have a key," Candi said, creating a third braid that would catch the key if Will threw it. "Thanks, dude!"
@Lucky
Will Nines

Will looked over at the keys and after a few minutes of playing around, he would attempt to get a key off the ring and toss it up to Candi. "I'll keep the other key, tell me if the one I throw you doesn't work and we can exchange keys," he said.

@Crimson Spartan @will30358 @Atomic Knight
Candi grabbed it with her white-and-blue braid, then too one of the braids holding onto the ladder off so that the new braid could throw the key to it. Then, the braid that now had the key extended, causing Candi to grunt, but allowing it to reach Sera. "You should probably take this.... damn. They sure fucked up my powers - I could make twelve of these things with ease, and now it fucking hurts." Candi grunted. "Please take this as soon as possible. Then we can continue our delightful discussion of you being a great person."
@Kaykay
Hela watched all of this play out with folded arms. She hoped nothing bad happened to those young ones... She'd hate that. If there was one kind of person she didn't kill, it was children and teens.

"I totally did! Getting locked up in the same place, figuring out puzzles together, in-fights, makes us feel like a real alliance doesn't it?"

Some might have disagreed on that last bit, but at least she seemed overall friendly enough. Upon noticing the door and its keyhole, she called down to Akande.

"We found one! Though I don't think anyone else should come up here or we're gonna come tumbling down to our doom. It's barely holding us two girls up!"

After giving her report to the large man, she followed up on Candi's hair catch as if it were the most natural thing in the world. While looking down and calling to Akande, it was inevitable she'd see what was going on with the key after all. Taking the key in her hand, she began to move to test the key out on the door.

@Kaykay
It seems that Sera and Candi had achieved their goals.

The key opened the scaffolding door easily, allowing Sera and Candi access to a dark hallway beyond. From an initial glance, it looked to be in the same condition as the rest of the facility. The scaffolding still held strong.

@Kaykay @will30358

Opening the left crate revealed a horrifying mass of strange, noxious material. It appeared as if the crate had contained something else at some point, but had been overtaken by a red, splotchy disease. It did not look dissimilar to the sickness afflicting the dead man.

As for the right crate, this one revealed something more useful: cloth and metal material. Most of the metal seemed to be refuse, being composed of short rebar that had been cut down.

"Being stored in a crate like that. I don't think it's mere chance." She said, peering at hte rest of the crates more closely now.

Her eyes fell upon both the left and right crates that were just opened, the former containing the same kind of sickness that had afflicted whoever the body once might have been. However, the latter contained some rebar, which might be useful to arm herself with.

With that in mind... She carefully armed herself with a piece of rebar for now (disregarding Arkande's usage of most of the rebar anyways)... Occasionally looking back at the body.

She hadn't had much in the way of experience with such strange diseases that could re-animate corpses, but... Ruby had mentioned such occurrences here and there when they used to talk, many years ago now. 'Zombies' she called them.

Asking others to help for Lucy (even from Kouta) were among the last things she expected, but really? Some of those other likely-criminals were willing to help too, and that in return, could only benefit her. In fact, even if it was out of selfishness, everyone seemed to want to do something. Well, except for one.

"You two. Over there. Don't you dare be so pathetic that you rely on others to do the dirty work."

Izuru seemed to have withheld his presence entirely, as the other two 'slackers' were called out for their inaction while he remained ignored. He wasn't particularly pleased about this; actually, he's never really been pleased with anything. It was a dull observation to make as he watched the group with diminishing interest.

Though, the patterns of cooperation spreading among the group did earn a prolonged stare from Kamukura. Selfish, malicious people - 'scum', as the Overseer put it - putting aside their negative traits and pooling together their talents to achieve mutual survival. Some of them are even becoming friends or comrades with one another.

Izuru pondered on what this was. The observation made by Dhaos (another uninteresting person) seemed to be most applicable to this - superficial comradery spurned by a despair-inducing scenario, only to be cut to pieces once someone has the leg-room. That was the most obvious pattern that people of this caliber would follow. It will turn out to be true for someone in this group.

But.

Is this hope?

An objectively twisted hope, yes, but it's 'hope' regardless.

It matched up with everything that person said to him. Izuru unconsciously rose one hand, feeling for something within his suit pocket.

"...?"

Izuru raised his other hand, quickly rubbing his eyes with a briefly confused look. Shaking his head, he returned to watching the group toil away from a safe distance.

"Humans are a foolish race who only seek the betterment of themselves, through war and bloodshed the only language they speak." Dhaos replied brusquely before looking over to Sinestro inspecting the body.

"We are like the living dead already,"
Dhaos replied. "Until we have broken free from our shackles and confronted our Overseer then we're nothing more than rats." For the time being Dhaos was content to stand around and let everyone else do the work. What was the point to put yourself in potential harms way when others could do it for you?

"Oh, I wouldn't say that" Thaal crowed in response "A prison and a fortress look awfully similar should one blur their eyes. Of course, the Overseer has forced us to trade our old cells for the larger one we explore now, but from a certain point of view, we already are free. Free to talk. Free to fight. To explore. Free to plan. From where the Overseer sits, she may seem to be pulling the strings, but, should we tug hard enough, it will be she who is tied to us. In the meantime, I suggest we hurry up and press this advantage before the Overseer decides she wants to start bladdering on again. Perhaps the first step in achieving a status greater than that of a rat might be to start helping, wouldn't you agree, 'sir'? Complaining about futility achieves nothing"
❝ What a damn shame. In any case, we're already doing better than that unfortunate fellow. ❞ Nishiki nonchalantly made an offhand comment on the infested corpse that they've run into. Aside from getting his suit dirtied by whatever that was, he didn't plan to get any infections from that cesspool of a decaying body, so he made sure not to linger too close to it. Addressing their current progress with this apparent puzzle...

❝ Speaking of which, it's quite pleasant to know that I am not needed to assist with the work laid out for us. How dependable of you lot, I might as well watch, huh? ❞ Nishiki smirked as he simply kept watch of how their plan was going about with the resources they had at hand.

"That's right. Keep watching. Keep up that effort and soon you'll be watching the inside of a cell again. What were you locked up for again, Nishiki? Criminal negligence? Or was it just public loitering?"
Lucy said nothing in return to Ashe. She was helping out, and that was it. She simply nodded slightly in return, while focusing on getting the tarp up. She turned her head to the others.

"If there are things that can be put with the tarp, put them over here, now."

Lucy pointed to Nishiki and Dhaos. Of course, they were baddies in a prison, but there was a line between evil and petty. Lucy...crossed that line years ago, but nowadays, she isn't so pathetic that she stands back and lets everyone do the work. If anything, even back in Japan, she was the one who worked hard to bring the end of humankind. In other words, Lucy, at the very least, had the virture of being steadfast to her goals. But these two?

"Dead weights. The lot them" Thaal groaned, continuing to work around the tarp. No rest for the wicked, it seemed. "We're wasting our breath. We'd be better off leaving them behind regardless of their supposed power, if they're taking advantage of our hospitality and labour now, they will surely do so again. I shan't be putting my life on the line for such likes of them, and I doubt the rest of our new Corps will be too thrilled to do so either"

Cinder recoiled when Isa yelled out at her, narrowing her eyes at the body. She was annoyed at her investigation being interrupted, but at the same time... She too was wary of the body after getting a good idea of what caused the death in the first place.

Sinestro also had a point, but at the same time... Something else occurred to Cinder.

"The less we put down to chance the better. We can't be relying on luck if we want to get out of here in one piece, now can we? Maybe sealing that body back up inside a crate might be the best course of action; the less time that thing is in contact with the air for, the slower its decay. We need to limit our exposure to potential infectants. Wedge it shut with some of that rebar if the lid won't stay down. On the double"

Isa growled in Sinestro's direction. "I've not heard of a body lingering in such a manner," he said sharply, eyes narrowing on the man. He then gestured up toward the scaffolding and then even further to another support structure even further up the tall, cylindrical room. "Couldn't the man have fallen down into the tarp and gotten tangled that way?"

The tarp being used as a makeshift ladder held strong while it was moved up the ladder, though as the group began their operation, the ladder shook violently. There was a cracking noise that echoed around the room.

As for the garage door, Will would find it would still not budge, even with the rebar. However, such an action was not needed, for the door began to suddenly open on its own. The hallway beyond revealed was dark and foreboding, but a staircase was visible at the end of the hall.

"Well, then. Let us not waste anymore time." Akande started down towards the staircase. such an unusual place this was...

The dark hallway beyond the scaffolding door lit up occasionally from faulty ceiling lights that flickered constantly. It was a long hallway that made a right turn eventually, but along the hall was debris and abandoned hospital beds. A door on the right side of the hallway was open, revealing a room that held broken science equipment and traces of what seemed to be a small greenhouse. Small red and green herbs had been left growing in small terrariums.

Radec grabbed some of the metal rebar from the other revealed crate. The infectious disease/fumes didn’t seem to bother him at the moment. The clothing didn’t seem useful at the time.
“I’ll close the body in the crate.”

The Helghan lifted the top up and shut it with the piece of Rebar he had.

He grabbed a another piece of rebar and stood, observing

"Um... what was that?" Hela asked, regarding the CRACK! noise.

@Atomic Knight

"Finally."

Izuru, stirred by the progress being made and nothing else (blatantly disregarding the loud cracking noise), stalked forward down the hallway with the stairs after everyone else. The absence of light helpfully left his presence even more shrouded, save for the dim glow of his eyes. He had nothing to say to the others for the time being.
