The scaffolding held strong, even with the tarp and the passengers.

Cole rolled his eyes at Thaal.

"Someone's got a complex," he muttered. "Cute."
"Oh, I do. A superiority complex and a well placed one at that. Faith in my strength has kept me alive this long, just as, I would presume, have yours"
Kokichi raised his hands in defeat. "I was just picked out by our dear Overseer for my specific abilities. As Ultimate Supreme Leader, I run a powerful network of spies all across the world! You could almost call me the Ultimate Spy... but I wouldn't go that far." He tilted his head a bit at Izuru and tapped his chin. "Hold on, you don't believe me? Why, that's a little rude. You don't even know me and you've accused me of so much...
"The Ultimate Spy..." Thaal turned back to Izuru, a confident spark in his eye "Believe me now? If coming here has reminded me of anything, it is of the fact that people don't change. We came here killers, we'll leave here killers. He can here a spy, he'll die a spy...unless..."

Sinestro returned his glance to Kokichi, a knuckle stroking his chin. Should the Ultimate Spy have told the truth, he could prove to be quite the ally... He clearly had no horse in the race; he was a survivor, just like the rest of them, taking on a contract simply to stay ahead. In some ways, he respected him for that. He respected him even more so for casting off his obligations in the name of safety. By revealing his true allegiances, he had left the Overseer behind... and now they were all in the same boat again.

"What were your instructions, Kokichi?" Sinestro asked in a far less accusatory manner as he had in the past "Did you come here to feed us lies, or report information back to the Overseer through some concealed device? Are just a simple saboteur? The way I see it, the Overseer won't want you scurrying back to her hut any time soon, so, in the name of keeping all your fingers, it would be beneficial for all parties for you to tell us where we can find her and what she wants? If you were to, say, 'Spill the beans', then we can guarantee your protection. We can protect you from the Overseer's wrath"

He outstretched a palm to shake, his inner officer of the law leaping forward and pushing him to play 'Good Cop' once again. An old role, of course, but an effective one

"I Thaal Sinestro, offer your forgiveness and redemption for your would-be betrayal and safe harbour among us in exchange for your full cooperation. Are we in agreement?"

"Can we stop?" Isa said, breaking into the conversation. "He hasn't done anything, neither of them have." He gestured to both Kokichi and Cole. "We can all start working to get up to the top of the room."

As Candi and Sera continued on, they went up a staircase and through a door that brought them back out to the tall, cylindrical room. Now they were even higher up on a platform way above the group. The platform seemed to also be a track of some kind for something like a cart and it went in a circle around the room way up to the top. A large machine that couldn't have been identified from below appeared to be a giant drill from Sera and Candi's positions.

"Look, they made it even higher," Isa said, pointing up. "We can follow them up there."
"He hasn't done anything... yet" Thaal turned away from the newcomers, hushing his voice to hide his words from prying ears "With naivety like that, Isa, it's a miracle you've lasted as long as you have. You wouldn't have lasted a month in a traditional prison; you need to be critical of everything you see. Thorough. Practical, but not paranoid. I beleive Cole's testimony. I doubt he has the capacity to lie as well as the boy did. As for Kokichi, he had confessed to his crime. He withholds information, of course, but I now doubt he holds ill intent. I still do not trust him, but I can work with him. Understand this, young one; trust must be earned. You surrender it far too easily. Its a weakness many will exploit. Be thankful we're on the same side... Or else I might be calling your own loyalties into question..."

"But you're correct" He stepped away from her, gesturing for the rest of the stragglers to join him "We're wasting time on this witch hunt. The boy can tell us what he knows on the way... in the meantime, we must ask ourselves...: what is a mining drill doing in a prison? Perhaps this isn't a cell block at all..."

How insulting. So much for high security... perhaps the Overseer hadn't shown his talents the respect he had believed she had after all. Locking him away in a temporary cell alone was a strike to his pride, to say the least...
Izuru stared blankly between Sinestro's usual indignant babbling, Kokichi feigning innocence, and Isa attempting to break up the conflict. It seemed as if he had more to say to both Sinestro and Kokichi alike, but it could only manifest as a short, disengaging sigh from the red-eyed student as he began to step away from the group, aiming to reach Candi and Sera's position as Isa had gestured.

"...How boring."

To Thaal Sinestro, Izuru Kamukura was as predictable as he viewed everyone else - under any normal circumstance the boy's punishment would've come unhindered and probably unnoticed by the Ultimate Hope. Kokichi seemed to be as boring and dull as everyone else here, and Izuru had no motivation even to pay any mind to his lies. The Ultimate Supreme Leader may as well be no talent at all, making Kokichi among the untalented masses that Izuru held bitter contempt.

But that's a lie.

That word continued to float in Izuru's computer-like mind like a virus; 'Ultimate'. It carries with it a slew of memories and connotations, both positive and negative from an unknowing perspective. For Izuru, it was all a blur. He had no strong feelings for what had happened back then either way.

At least he thought he didn't. But that word, 'Ultimate,' no longer carried any positive connotations for him. It may as well be synonymous with...

'Despair.'

And where there is Despair, there is inevitably going to be that 'conflict' in its wake. A battle between two unpredictable forces, which logically ends in a conclusion that Izuru Kamukura, the Ultimate Hope, cannot currently predict an end. Seeking an end to that 'game' is what motivates Izuru to continue breathing. His existence seeking closure... and finding pieces that relate to that past is apart of that goal.

Someone like Kokichi is a negligible, circumstantial, barely relevant piece of the puzzle, but a part of it nonetheless.

It is at times like these when Izuru wonders if there's something within him - something he doesn't know is there - motivating him to pursue these things on a whim.

It would be more accurate to say 'someone'. But that is neither here nor there.

"And there I was thinking you didn't want to speak to me? You're too kind"

He turned back towards the boy

"So, what is it going to be? Are you going to give us what we want? Start from the beginning. Or else I'll have to suggest that our mutual friend Pyke stops holding back?"

"Do not worry yourself, Pyke" Sinestro groan "I shan't be telling you've what to do- I'll simply recommend. Take my advice or leave it from now on, but know that it comes from an enlightened source much greater than your own. For starters, I suggest that you continue to watch the boy. Don't let him slip from your sight. I wouldn't trust anyone's else to do this task" His words were genuine, or at least, on the surface. He had to get Pyke on side- he didn't need add to his life of foes, especially not one as...useful as Pyke...
"Don't let us down, Ally. Once he speaks, you have our approval to punish this traitor. But until then, would you kindly resist the urge to kill him?"
Pyke listened to the Yellow Lantern's words with a look of hateful disinterest. He already knew Sinestro was a load of barnacles from the start. He'd been playing buddy-buddy as if that would get the sailor's favor. The mildly condescending attitude, the fake friendliness... it was all to be expected from a leader. What was it? Ruler of Korugar? Ruler, captain, same thing. Both manipulated people. Pyke was used to being manipulated by the greed of Bilgewater. "Yeah yeah," he began, a hint of annoyance in his voice, "Already on it. Nothin' swims past me. And I don't give a damn if I have approval to do something. I'll do what I want regardless of what you folk think." He stepped closer to Sinestro. "Look. I don't like you. I like them less," he said, referring to the Overseer and her goons, "We're a crew for now. Later is a different story."
The scaffolding held strong, even with the tarp and the passengers.

Cole rolled his eyes at Thaal.

"Someone's got a complex," he muttered. "Cute." He sighed. "You picked A? Well, we picked B. Guess we're a match."

There Kokichi went with the Ultimate Supreme Leader thing again. Had it not been for the circumstances, he'd be swimming with the fishes. It'd be too difficult to kill him right now though, for a variety of obvious reasons. He'd meet his fate later.

Well, enough loitering around. He pointed at Cole and Kokichi. "The bilge rats go first." he declared. After the two of them went up, Pyke would follow suit.

Will smiled, happy that he had figured out how to tie a knot and help the group. He took a deep breath and looked down to Akande with a smile. " I'm going to go and catch up with the girls," he said, seeing as they had gone up higher into the room and was above them. However, the android got distracted by the strange red and green herbs and decided to see if there was anyway he could move them and pick them up, if he could he would. Barring any adverse effects that could happen from taking them up, he would then travel to the next rooms and stopped and looked through the cabinets.

The dead man looked over his shoulder and into Dagran's eyes, refusing to let go of Kokichi. The eyes that stared at the mercenary were no longer Pyke's, or at least, it wasn't quite him. Rather than the eyes of a proud harpooner, they were the eyes of a sea monster. "Not 'till he tells me what I need to know," he responded simply. "I don't trust people who cower behind desks. You shouldn't either."

"Trust is something I don't give too easily. As for people who cower behind desks, I have to work with them whether I want to or not." Dagran responded, staring Pyke down without a hint of fear. The Sea Monster would recieve a stern look, and nothing more. When it came to what else was said by Sinestro and company, the mercenary remained quiet, and was at least pleased when Pyke eventually did let Kokichi go.

Hela ultimately went with Will and the others to follow the girls, to ensure they were okay. She soon saw Will touching the herbs she didn't dare touch, and advanced with him to the next room. "I say... a wide array of storage places here..." Hela remarked.

"So, you did pick B..." Akande was suddenly both grateful and alarmed that his gut had been wrong. "I think whatever option we chose decided whatever puzzle we ended up with. And either way, we'd still end up meeting each other."

"Why not?" Sera shrugged at Candi's suggestion. Having some medical equipment wouldn't be a bad thing at the very least. Gloves for touching unknown things like the herbs, bandages and gauze for wounds, a thermometer for...taking temperature. Not everything was going to be a winner. Unless one of the "scum" came down with a fever or something.

"We both take one, then?" she suggested while picking up one of the first aid kits, before they would presumably just keep walking through the halls.

@Atomic Knight @will30358
"Seems legit," Candi said, going into the room, putting on the gloves, and throwing the other one to Sera. "Doesn't look like there's any poison in this one... not nearly as much fun, but hey, when you're kidnapped you don't really experiment different ways to die." Candi took her lollipop out of her mouth. She'd finally gotten to the end of it, and she threw it away before taking out a bar of white chocolate wrapped up out of her pocket... before removing the same exact one a few seconds later.

"Want one?" she asked, unwrapping one of them.

Wesker, having done his part, went up with a few of the others. He noticed Will near the Red and Green herbs. If his memory served him well, those could be invaluable. He approached the android and gave him a hand with picking them. "The healing properties of these herbs could be enough to save a life, not that they would benefit you much. The green ones work fine alone, but they work best when mixed with the red ones. The red ones serve no purpose by themselves however."

As Lucy put her efforts into working on the tarp, she still looked up at the three trying to do some sort of human ladder. They seem to show no sign of falling yet, so that's a good thing, she guessed. Not that she particularly cared, but some others did, and if they did fall down, then that would certainly be waste of time and resources. Nothing more to her.

However, Lucy still couldn't wrap her head around why people were so aggressive now. If they wanted to kill each other so badly, then couldn't they wait until they got their powers back? Or until everyone could get to a more convenient time?

And that 'Ultimate Supreme Leader', calling himself a spy. Weren't spies meant to be secretive? If that was the case, then those two uncooperative beings would be justified, should they try putting him out of their misery. It was best not to get involved in those three's business. It took far too much of her time to listen in, and an insurmountable amount to care.

...And finally, after lots of effort on their part, the tarp ladder was done. It should have taken sooner, but oh well, it was finished anyways. Lucy stared up at the height above and then at the somewhat flimsy rope ladder. Well, there was nothing to do now, with that she began to climb up the tarp. She was light, she wouldn't bring the whole thing down.

Will who had been first by the plants turned over to Wesker with a half smile and looked over at him and didn't mind the help, even if it was from someone who didn't seem to trust him, but only looked quite pleasant and he pushed this thought aside. " So, these plants can help to save a human's life? That is correct. It will not be able to help me, I run on Thirium 310, or as it is called back home, blue blood used to mimic human structures. I also have structures similar to human organs that are called biocomponents and a thirium pump and thirium pump regulator that helps the synthetic organs and the LED on me along with my optical unit and audio unit. Unlike most here, I fear that if I took a head injury or got too injured, I would shut down and would need replacement parts."

"Good. We only need to work together 'For Now'... should you hate them more than you hate me, then I fear for the state of their future corpes"
An assertion of strength; that was the only thing the seaman would respect. He clearly wasn't a man in love with his monologues or even his logic, and it had long since dawned upon him that Thaal Sinestro, Archeologist, was not the face that would earn his favour. Titles wouldn't pass. For now, he wasn't the custodian of Korugar. He wasn't the Master of Fear. He wasn't even the Ruler of the Yellow Tribe; He was Sinestro, the First Splinter Lantern. A man of will and drive. A man of little words and large actions.

His gentlemanly facade shattered.

"The moment we step outside, you're free to leave; kill as many suits as you like. Try to kill me if you'd like, should you wish to cut your liberty short. But hear this; until then, neither of us are looking for a friend. Hate me. Loath me, as I'm sure many men here do; we don't get locked up here for sainthood. But channel that hatred. Channel that loathing. It'll keep us all alive long enough to kill each other. I'm glad we're on the same page, Pyke"

Marching on ahead, Thaal reassembled his old mask. He was the Guardian's Golden Boy once again, and he had one last job to complete; he was going to bring the Overseer to his own, bloody justice.
"Trust is something I don't give too easily. As for people who cower behind desks, I have to work with them whether I want to or not." Dagran responded, staring Pyke down without a hint of fear. "Fair terms" Thaal lowered his brown, the tension from his brief interrogation fading from his face "But I'll remind you that there is always a choice; Those men behind desks cower in fear of action. They fear death. They fear sacrifice. Men like us have the power to bring their fears to light before them. Make them fear you. Let them cower. Make them cry. Make them bleed. After that... negotiation is no longer a necessity. Save your trust for those who've earned it; for those on their knees, fear is a much greater motivation that trust"

If Will could roll his eyes without seeming deviant, he would. " Yes, we may very well find something useful," he said, holding back the sarcastic tone to the woman. He had already started checking cabinets before she had said this.

"Right you are, Dhaos. It would be quite a shame," Akande responded, nodding. Clearly Dhaos did not mean it earnestly, but he would still respond to him as if he did. There was no need for any more conflict amongst them. "Especially after other potential allies were killed off in Room B. And that's why we must all work together to escape here. The Overseer said so herself, we are all allies in this game of hers. Though what this game actually is...I suppose we'll find out very soon."

@Jeremi @Everyone

Kokichi thought on Thaal's words for a moment. "I don't think the Overseer cares about what I do," he eventually said. "Why, it's just a game, isn't it? Maybe she really wants to punish us all. Guess she wouldn't want us to win then, huh? All I know was that she would come to me. You know, eventually." He shrugged, looking bored now. "'Dunno what that's about. Was supposed to tell her all I could find out about you guys... things you might try to conceal from her. You guys have some special secrets like that, right? I bet you do. Everyone does."

He seemed like he would say more, but he stopped. He peered at Thaal's outstretched hand and smiled. "Why, of course I will cooperate! If I didn't, you'd just kill me anyway, right?" He clasped the other man's hand. "Betrayal is a little harsh though, isn't it? We're not really allies... It was only the Overseer who said we had to work together, after all."

Neither Isa or Cole seemed particularly happy about Thaal's statements toward them, but eventually Cole was the one looking amused. "I kind of like you," he said. "It might be fun to have you around."

Cole and Kokichi did as ordered and went before Pyke, with Isa following soon after. The scaffolding and tarp rope would hold for everyone... though Megatron presented a problem. He would likely send the whole thing falling, meaning once Megatron came up last, there would be no turning back.

The green and red herbs had no adverse affects on Will as he picked them up, nor did they as he carried them with him. Thankfully, Wesker's insight proved that the herbs were likely safe and beneficial.

When the cabinets in the halls leading upward were opened, those searching found many empty and discarded files. What did remain were mostly redacted. Some did provide a little info. The wording and terms used in what could be seen indicated that the infirmary here was working to combat some kind of pathogen and that the sick were being isolated and contained from those who were healthy.

Naturally, the scaffolding hallway eventually led to where Sera and Candi were, where one could navigate the circular narrow pathway up to the top of the cylindrical room.

@Kaykay

"Haha, you only get to try that experiment once usually, so I'd want it to be a little more exciting than poison."

Sera continued walking with the other kit, staring up at the large drill. She looked around the track, but for the moment didn't see any carts. Not to mention moving up using a mine cart or something along those lines probably wouldn't work to begin with. So basically...they'd just have to walk some more.

"Well, if you're offering!" Sera accepted Candi's offer, taking the extra unwrapped candy bar. "Gotta have some energy if we're gonna climb up this room, right?"

Taking a large bite out of the chocolate, she began to ascend the pathway.

"We won't find anything out standing around here." And with that, Akande ascended up the tarp and into the hallway.
