"We won't find anything out standing around here." And with that, Akande ascended up the tarp and into the hallway.

Hospital beds...were they in the prison's infirmary, then? Hm... He would continue on ahead towards where Will was. "Ah, Will. Good to see you again. Find anything useful?"

@Atomic Knight @Jeremi @Lucky

As Dhaos followed Doomfist into the hallway he couldn't help but think about how Cole had seemed very eager to dissuade him from going down the stairs where he and Kokichi had emerged. For the time being though he kept those thoughts to himself. "Yes, 'Will', what information if any has your artificial mind grasped about the situation?"

Will smiled over at Akande when he would arrive here. " I did find some useful things," he said, producing the red and green herbs. " According to Mr. Wesker, these plants combined can be used to treat injuries."

Will had not immediately noticed Dhaos and his LED went yellow for the man, processing what he had had said to him. " From my understanding of the files I read in here, this seemed to be a type of infirmary that was used to combat a pathogen and it most likely was airborne or at least spread through some form of contact, they were isolating the sick from the healthy." As he said this, he would have been going about checking the desks to see if there was anything useful in them.

Looking around Ashe noticed where the herbs once were. Well this is certainly strange but all things considered given that he knows so little about this place perhaps maybe it wasn't so strange. Taking a moment to walk into the hospital like section Ashe noticed that it seemed that others had already checked the area out. Seeing another path ahead and not quite having seen Candi or Sera as of yet Ashe decided to venture into the path that would eventually lead him to them..

'I do hope they're both okay...' Ashe thought to himself as he walked past the others and went on ahead.

Kokichi thought on Thaal's words for a moment. "I don't think the Overseer cares about what I do," he eventually said. "Why, it's just a game, isn't it? Maybe she really wants to punish us all. Guess she wouldn't want us to win then, huh? All I know was that she would come to me. You know, eventually." He shrugged, looking bored now. "'Dunno what that's about. Was supposed to tell her all I could find out about you guys... things you might try to conceal from her. You guys have some special secrets like that, right? I bet you do. Everyone does."

He seemed like he would say more, but he stopped. He peered at Thaal's outstretched hand and smiled. "Why, of course I will cooperate! If I didn't, you'd just kill me anyway, right?" He clasped the other man's hand. "Betrayal is a little harsh though, isn't it? We're not really allies... It was only the Overseer who said we had to work together, after all."

Neither Isa or Cole seemed particularly happy about Thaal's statements toward them, but eventually Cole was the one looking amused. "I kind of like you," he said. "It might be fun to have you around."

Cole and Kokichi did as ordered and went before Pyke, with Isa following soon after. The scaffolding and tarp rope would hold for everyone... though Megatron presented a problem. He would likely send the whole thing falling, meaning once Megatron came up last, there would be no turning back.

"My apologies," Megatron maintained a serious expression, "with my wings clipped by the Overseer, that was the only option I had. It seems like there is only up now."

Megatron looks at the herbs Will had found and the explanation he provided.

"Tch..." Dhaos wasn't impressed with the new arrival and let him be as Kokichi's attention fell on Megatron. As the Overseer spoke Dhaos listened intently to what she had to say. Allies? He wasn't too sure about that.

"Then get to it," Dhaos replied annoyed. "If you need someone else with height then...I can be of assistance." The 6'7 tall Dhaos said. "Standing around in the same place will drastically lower our mortality rate the longer we stay."

This Cole fellow made Dagran just a bit uneasy, but he wouldn't bring it up. Instead he would turn his head to Pyke as he wrapped a hand around Kokichi's throat. He didn't apply any force for now, which was good.

"Pyke." Dagran nudged the sailor's unoccupied arm with his own, having crossed his arms as he had listened to Cole and Kokichi introduce themselves a few minutes ago. "Can you work with him regardless?" He asked, almost like a parent suggesting a child compromise with another over a toy.

@Atomic Knight @Ottonomous Ghost @Anybody
"Alright."
Lucy turned away from Wesker to avoid confronting him. It was a glare yes, but he shouldn't have been able to see through her so easily like that. Just turn around and walk away, Wesker was just a person, no-one special, and Lucy saw no need to waste her time on him. As much as she wanted to fight against him.

Lucy had to surpress a slight smile when Ashe was genuinely happy that she was alright. How could humans still be decent? It was possible somehow. Sure, he was in here for murder, but she was here for attempted genocide. At least she knew who her first ally was. Talking about allies..

So they all have to work as allies right? Lucy wasn't sure if she was to listen to the Overseer who locked them up here, but on a practical reasoning: If she worked together, she would have a much easier time, and the others wouldn't want to kill her. Case in point, that votatile sailor seems to explode at the very word of someone being a leadership. No allies there.

The tarp could be relatively good for being some sort of rope, and the others thought that as well. They even had the ingenious idea of climbing on each other's shoulders while the robot took them up. Sadly, Lucy would not be able to to that, since she was what, 160cm or so? Not a good height to do that, also with the fact that she couldn't possibly support another person on her shoulders.

"Don't fall, Those up there. There is only such much weight I can catch. Keep the hand steady, robot, and the shoulders also."

Lucys swore to herself, if they fall down...

"In any case, let us set up this rope ladder." Hela said to those with the tarp.

"...Ultimate?"

Now that was unexpected.

The mass of people that approached and questioned the boy about his title and attitude worked to obscure Izuru's diminishing presence within the crowd, but the piercing effect of his stare could still be felt no matter how many reprobates attempted to grill the boy about his talent. Meeting another student with a self-proclaimed Ultimate talent seemed to awaken memories and thoughts buried deep within the gifted student's psyche, drifting up to the surface of his mind.

Memories of an academy, certain people, things that were interesting at the time. And questions, such as why is this person lying?

Izuru opened his mouth to say something to Kokichi, but stopped himself, shaking his head and vanishing back into his little corner. Something within him told him that he won't need to pursue Kokichi if he wanted to interact with him.

And as usual, Izuru kept a distance from the work being done, having no interest in contributing.

@Atomic Knight @Whoever

Pyke
@Atomic Knight @Takumi @anyone

The dead man looked over his shoulder and into Dagran's eyes, refusing to let go of Kokichi. The eyes that stared at the mercenary were no longer Pyke's, or at least, it wasn't quite him. Rather than the eyes of a proud harpooner, they were the eyes of a sea monster. "Not 'till he tells me what I need to know," he responded simply. "I don't trust people who cower behind desks. You shouldn't either."
"Tagnled, yes. Wraped, no. If he had fallen, there'd be signs of concussion, or at least a snapped neck. Had he drowned in the tarp, his eyes would be caven and his lips would be blued. Human phisiology is unremarkable. It leaves clues as to its failures whenever it shuts down. It holds no recrets from me.

Bodies don't linger... well, not on their own. But if he was killed by a biological agent, such agent could linger. A single bacteria cell can live for up to 12 hours unfed, and they've got a whole organism the eat up while we play around with tarp. I'd rather not meet the same fate as this ape, and I doubt you would either. We're going need to take precautions, Isa. Unless you'd rather we spend our time sewing body bags instead?"

"Humans, humans, humans... pests of the universe. Where there's one, there's a dozen- no, thousands more" He released a strong sigh, rolling his eyes towards the floor above "What are you stories then? Murders? Pillagers? Or maybe something slightly more interesting?"

"Quite the arrogant pair, aren't you?" Sinestro muttered, the irony lost on him "All 'Ultimate'-this and 'Powerful'-that. We don't recognise you from the cells. You power bands could quite easily be fake. Your light would suggest that I'm correct. You arrive, the Overseer calls..." With a fist to his chin, Sinestro began to test their new allies. He was never a fan of forced alliances. Nor did he have much pacience for the notional of the enemy of the enemy being his friend. He was more than prepared to fight a war on two fronts. He simply had to groom the rest of the Alliance into seeing the light he had seen: that no one was to be trusted, that the only allies one had were those could defeat should you cease to cooperate. "I'll be the first to voice how little faith we should be playing in the Overseer's testimony, and so, the burden of truth falls to you; Cole, Oma, prove to us beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have not been sent to spy on us. I suggest you start talking. Some of our party have proven themselves to be far more... jumpy than the likes of you and I..."

"I like them no more than you, Pike" Sinestro sighed, rolling his counter fit ring between his fingers. "Let me appeal to the logical side of your brain, no matter how small it may be: This is not the way to achieve a confession. It's too crude. Too brash. He'll say whatever we want to hear to protect himself. He doesn't fear you yet; he fears his own mortality. Such a fear cannot be weaponized effectively. It's unpredictable. Chaotic. To find the truth, we must first find out what he wants. Then, what he knows. Then, and only then, can we push him towards the mount of truth. Blind violence makes him the victim. The Alliance will turn on you just as they turned on Hela once she attacked me..."

Charge Check: 1.75%

Enough for one last construct should the beast lash out any further

Under safer circumstances, Thaal would have sought to save those last sparks of light for their inevitable assault on the Overseer. But these were far from the safest of circumstances. Of course, Pyke had proved himself to be of no higher calibre that the common scum he had fought to arrest all those years ago. Had he more charge, he would have locked him away again, no questions asked. He was a liability. But if he could redirect Pyke's rage- weaponise it- he could prove to be an invaluable ally... a contender to possibly outmatch Megatron or Hela should their Alliance fall apart. His favour could prove to be... valuable in the days to come. And when it came to farming fear, having a powerful, violent lose canon would allow him to reap a bountiful harvest. Soon, the Overseer would find herself choking on yellow- he could see it now. Oh, he could practically taste it! Pyke could help him make that prophesy into a reality...

"So let him go, Pyke. We're going to do this like adults. If your instincts are correct, then you'll have our support and approval when the time comes to destroy him. But until we are certain, killing an ally will do more harm than good. It's not weakness, Pyke. It's strategy. You understand strategy, don't you, friend?"

"Oh, and Mr.Kokichi? I suggest you don't try to resist our friend here. We wouldn't want you to get hurt now, would we? Stay put until this cituation is defused. Keep Cole from frying him if you can. Besides... you having nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide..."
"Hehe, all that's true," Sera replied, taking another look at the herbs. There really wasn't much else to do but go forwards, and this "game" probably wasn't going to get any simpler or easier. After a brief pause, she started running after Candi, looking around at the various things they passed. More hospital beds, but this time with actual equipment to go along with them. Well, not like any of those things were useful to her.

Noticing Candi look back for a moment, Sera gave her a small grin and a wave. As they reached yet another door, Sera decided to barrel through it without hesitation. There wasn't much else to do other than move forward after all.

@Atomic Knight @will30358
"I say we take the med stuff," said Candi, looking in the room. "I doubt those could be as bad as what the herbs could be. Whaddya think?"

@Kaykay
Of the actual medical equipment, there were two first aid kits. Both had been ransacked a bit, but between the two kits, there were adhesive bandages, sterile gauze, tape, cotton, a face mask, medical gloves, and a thermometer.

There was not much else in that category.

@Kaykay @will30358

Will's idea to makeshift a new ladder out of rebar was not evidently working. However, everyone's combined heights did allow them access to the scaffolding.

"Seems like we got the raw deal then," Cole said to Akande, crossing his arms. "Considering we walked out of a deathtrap and into yours. Is this favoritism? What the fuck, honestly." He then sighed and looked at Cinder. "Probably. What are you actually planning to do by heating the metal?"

He tried to pointedly ignore Sinestro for the moment, but the man's incessant talking was getting under Cole's nerves. He shot the man a glare and shrugged his shoulders as if nothing could be done. "The hell do you want me to say? If you think I'm lying then there isn't shit I can say to convince you. I certainly don't know who the hell all of you are."

Kokichi seemed pretty jazzed about Megatron. He was mumbling something about how the robot's name seemed like something out a cartoon when Pyke grabbed him suddenly by the throat. The boy did not entirely look displeased immediately upon being grabbed, instead grinning back at the man as he started his diatribe. "Captain?" Kokichi said, managing a strained chuckle. "That's funny, I never said--" He winced upon seeing the strange vision Pyke was sending him. Though no more physical pressure was being pressed upon his throat, Kokichi felt as if he was losing breath.

"Ha... You gonna kill me if I don't agree, just like that? Right in front of everyone?" His eyes wandered around the room and his grin widened. He saw Izuru, lost in the shadows of the room, then Sinestro who was demanding proof of their claims. "Fine then, I admit it, I'm a spy. But not much good I can do when you know about it. Gonna kill me now or will you be putting me down?"

"I don't know what this guy's even going on about," Cole said with a scowl. He then held up his hands. "Look, I'll help you guys out, will that be enough? You might need me, considering I have few my powers here."

Will had figured it wasn't working after much analysis and made sure to be careful in making the human muppet ladder. He grabbed onto the railing and would see if he could do what akande said about tying down the tarp.down while offering a hand to the next person on the makeshift-human ladder. As much as he wanted to go after the girls, he knew that it was better to not seem flightly and ditchy. " I am actually surprised that worked, but I don't think we should all stand on this once though."
"I doubt our Overseer is playing favorites here; she seems to have a very low opinion of us all," Akande replied. "Though I do wonder...did she ask you to pick A or B on that bracelet if yours? We ultimately picked A, ourselves."

In regards to Kokichi, Akande merely chuckled. "Kids will be kids...I wouldn't worry about him too much. But it's a pleasure to work with you, Cole, even in a place like this. Oh-how rude of me, I don't believe I've introduced myself. The name's Akande. Akande Ogundimu." Noting their work paying off, he called up, "Good thinking, Will! Once we tie it down, we send people up one at a time!"

Pyke

Pyke gave Sinestro an angry glare. "Don't tell me what to do--" Abruptly, Kokichi conceded. It wasn't quite the answer he was looking for, but it was good enough. Simmering down and returning to a relatively cognitive state of mind, he released his grip upon the student. "So you're from that captain's crew?" he asked rhetorically. Although he was irritated at the discovery, he wasn't too upset. He knew what it was like to be used as a pawn. This only made him hate the Overseer even more. Perhaps Kokichi would be willing to help the group locate the mysterious person, with a bit of persuasion of course. "Seems like you've been used as live-bait. There's no way I'm lettin' you outta my eyeline now. Best help us in findin' the captain; I ain't afraid to kill. Never have been. So don't even think about runnin' away from us."

It appeared that Cole got the idea already.
"Why not?" Sera shrugged at Candi's suggestion. Having some medical equipment wouldn't be a bad thing at the very least. Gloves for touching unknown things like the herbs, bandages and gauze for wounds, a thermometer for...taking temperature. Not everything was going to be a winner. Unless one of the "scum" came down with a fever or something.

"We both take one, then?" she suggested while picking up one of the first aid kits, before they would presumably just keep walking through the halls.

"I hope they remain safe that seems rather dangerous..." Thaal rubbed his temple and bowed his head, trying to kickstart his little grey cells. The boy's confession was worthless under such circumstances, and could easily have just been a survival reflex. He hadn't turned himself into a bargining chip to say the least, trading his information for his life on the hopes that they would not trade him back to the overseer. Regardless, now was as good of a time as any to press his advantage and continue to assert himself.

"Mr...Cole, was it? I'm dissapointed. It appears as if even a man of your strength has failed to use his eyes. It took the mind of Sinestro to uncover the foe right under our noses. A shameful display, I must admit , under unfreindlier circumstances, I might consider you to be his accomplice, but right now... I just think you're a idiot. A powerful idiot, but an idiot none the less. Such is a compliment coming from me...Welcome to the Alliance"

He turned back towards the boy

"So, what is it going to be? Are you going to give us what we want? Start from the beginning. Or else I'll have to suggest that our mutual friend Pyke stops holding back?"

"Do not worry yourself, Pyke" Sinestro groan "I shan't be telling you've what to do- I'll simply recommend. Take my advice or leave it from now on, but know that it comes from an enlightened source much greater than your own. For starters, I suggest that you continue to watch the boy. Don't let him slip from your sight. I wouldn't trust anyone's else to do this task" His words were genuine, or at least, on the surface. He had to get Pyke on side- he didn't need add to his life of foes, especially not one as...useful as Pyke...
"Don't let us down, Ally. Once he speaks, you have our approval to punish this traitor. But until then, would you kindly resist the urge to kill him?"
"Or, he is lying."

Izuru was suddenly standing much closer to the group without any indication of him moving.

View attachment 3488

"There is no logical reason to care about a traitor within this group because the Overseer can see our actions regardless."

The Ultimate Hope shared an extended look with the Ultimate Supreme Leader. Izuru unintentionally allowed Kokichi to get a good look at the 'ghost' who evaded his sight - a tall, scary-looking guy with flowing black hair and red eyes.

"Normally, no one intelligent would believe such a ridiculous talent as the 'Ultimate Supreme Leader'. As I predicted, these people are idiots."

A sigh.

"How boring."

@Atomic Knight @Sark @Ottonomous Ghost @Takumi @Whoever
"She can see us, you're correct in that. But let me ask you this; what is the most effective way to kill a dog? You kill it before it can turn to bite you. I do not fear what information this boy can sell, however, I do fear what lies he can whisper into our ears and the knives he could place into our backs. I don't care for 'talents' or whatever it is you seen to pray to, but I do believe in being thorough. I have seen children with bombs on their backs before. Animals with blades.Commoners with cutlasses. Powers or no powers, a spy- or one who seeks to divide us by claiming to be a spy- should be- no, must be- punished. Of course, I'd expect the likes of you to defend him"
The scaffolding held strong, even with the tarp and the passengers.

Cole rolled his eyes at Thaal.

"Someone's got a complex," he muttered. "Cute." He sighed. "You picked A? Well, we picked B. Guess we're a match."

Kokichi raised his hands in defeat. "I was just picked out by our dear Overseer for my specific abilities. As Ultimate Supreme Leader, I run a powerful network of spies all across the world! You could almost call me the Ultimate Spy... but I wouldn't go that far." He tilted his head a bit at Izuru and tapped his chin. "Hold on, you don't believe me? Why, that's a little rude. You don't even know me and you've accused me of so much..."

"Can we stop?" Isa said, breaking into the conversation. "He hasn't done anything, neither of them have." He gestured to both Kokichi and Cole. "We can all start working to get up to the top of the room."

As Candi and Sera continued on, they went up a staircase and through a door that brought them back out to the tall, cylindrical room. Now they were even higher up on a platform way above the group. The platform seemed to also be a track of some kind for something like a cart and it went in a circle around the room way up to the top. A large machine that couldn't have been identified from below appeared to be a giant drill from Sera and Candi's positions.

"Look, they made it even higher," Isa said, pointing up. "We can follow them up there."

Cinder frowned, seeing that the tarp had already been made into a make-shift rope ladder. There was no need to make any hooks or anything out of the rebar, but she did have something else in mind for it in the end.

UfIQqE1.png

"That body got me thinking... ... What if we're not the only things around in this facility? We might need to arm ourselves." She said.

"But that is something we can worry about after we follow the others. I get the feeling going back won't be easy." She added, eyeing Megatron.

If this were a more organized group effort, she might have given Nishiki a dirty look seeing as he wasn't helping out that much, but to be honest... Neither was she.

All she wanted was to escape this facility, and if it meant she needed help from others, so be it, but like Thaal said, after they escaped... It was every man for themselves.

Not just that, but she herself found some level of resonance with his words; she too, had learned that fear was a good motivator. After all, it had been part of her plan, before she had died.

Quickly, she grabbed as many pieces of rebar as she could carry, attempting to string together multiple pieces of cloth in an effort to make a lengthy enough rope to tie together the pieces of rebar, allowing her to sling the clump over her shoulder without much trouble.

Then, came the hard part... Where she began to slowly, but steadily climb up the make-shift rope ladder, doing so second last (before Megatron anyways) and joining up with the others.

However, once she made her way up there, she didn't seem to care too much for the squabbles within the group, and instead, Cinder began to investigate the scaffolding around her. Namely the drill. Deciding she would get a closer look at it, incase it could be of use to her in some way, she decided to follow in the footsteps of Sera and Candi, but... Regardless of what she did, she decided to attempt to head to the top of the Cylindrical room, using the scaffolding.

Hopefully the pieces of rebar she had managed to carry with her in a crude fashion wouldn't be lost in the process, as she intended to make some improvised weapons out of them... Likely some kind of blade or spear. After all, it didn't seem like there were too many things to arm themselves with in this place... And perhaps that was for the best, considering that not many who she had met up with her were any nicer than she was.

"Ah! Megatron was it...? Are you perhaps concerned for miss Candi and that other girl that came up here first as well...?" Ashe spoke towards Megatron in a way simply looking to make some idle conversation. He had to admit he was quite curious of what exactly Megatron is but decided against question him at this moment.

"Concern is a rather strong choice of words, but that is not to say that you are entirely wrong, Ashe" Megatron maintains a cold exterior. "Ah... I see mister Megatron... Well regardless of your intentions i'm sure they'll be glad that you came along as well..." Ashe speaks to Megatron before noticing Cinder was approaching.

"Ah... I don't think we've met miss... I'm Ashe Bradley and it's nice to meet you..." Ashe would speak to Cinder as he noticed her. He decided not to comment on her currently only having one arm..

"The Overseer hasn't been entirely wrong; she was correct in seeking out your talents and creating fail-safes to limit mine. She was right in suggesting me work together for now..." Sinestro maintained a hard grasp around Kokichi's, his long fingers wrapping a half rotation around his hand. "And I believe that we will be getting on like a prison on fire"

Though he would never admit it, Thaal had grown quite fond of Kokichi over the course of their brief introduction. He was an irregularly regular figure, a clean mess. Everything he did seemed so simple, and yet so complicated. He admitted to being a spy under the smallest duress despite having every opportunity to deny his allegiances. He had worked for the overseer under equally smaller leverage, yet had opted to ally himself with her regardless. Was he a double agent? A triple agent? Or did he work solely for himself, playing either side with feinted loyalty and flamboyant titles?

He was a loose cannon, and he liked it. He was unpredictable. Uncontrollable. Should the time come, all the Yellow Lantern would have to do would be to direct the boy's cone of fire and use such a knack for deception for his own ends... but to do so he would need to learn Kokichi's cues, the calling cards for his lies. In the meantime, the lad had proven himself to be a man after his own heart; ruthless, driven, a survivor, all hidden behind a flawless facade, that of purity and carefreeness. Intrigued, Thaal knew to keep him close. His hand in his, Sinestro knew that forming the Alliance would grow to become a fruitful endeavour, even if the idea to form it had not been his own. Such a fact mocked him and his intelligence. Given enough time, he surely would have developed the idea to warm his allies to his own ends on his own, without having so many glorious opportunities thrown in his face.

First Hela's attack, then Megatron's rise to prevalence, and now Kokichi's almost-leak.

The cards were falling perfectly for now, but he had to place precautions should his supply of fateful blessings die out. He had to develop insurance... and such insurance would come in the form of a new ring...

"Now tell me, boy" Sinestro smiled a warm old smile "What is the first thing you plan to do upon your escape? What drives to play this little game of hers?"
Neither Isa or Cole seemed particularly happy about Thaal's statements toward them, but eventually Cole was the one looking amused. "I kind of like you," he said. "It might be fun to have you around."

"Typical human... Typical... Machochistic....Human..."
When the cabinets in the halls leading upward were opened, those searching found many empty and discarded files. What did remain were mostly redacted. Some did provide a little info. The wording and terms used in what could be seen indicated that the infirmary here was working to combat some kind of pathogen and that the sick were being isolated and contained from those who were healthy.
"Ohhh.... A pathogen..." Thaal whispered through a smile "It appears as if my suspicions were correct... and that poking around that body was not a good idea..."

Still... His Korugarian biology should have provided him with a greater immunity than the apes who had been working on a vaccine, or whatever it was they had been working on... unless

"Perhaps the others were right" He spoke louder "We very well might be lab rats. The body could have been planted to infect us with the same agent that killed him, and now we're meant to be exposed to some experimental and most likely fatally untested cure... which would explain those herbs... alternatively... as a man not unfamiliar to chemical weapons... these tests could have been conducted to remove natural immunities to the virus... it would increase its efficiency..." Juggling papers between his hands, Thaal soon found himself lost in the writings and ramblings that stood before him. No one redacted statements from legitimate scientific journals; it wasn't too soon to say that there was something grossly illegal, inhumane or openly hostile was being conducted within their facility... or that the Overseer was a far greater threat than he had initially believed her to be...
Will Nines

@Atomic Knight @Jeremi @Yun Lee

@Atomic Knight @Yun Lee @Lucky
"Or perhaps the pathogen was designed to combat the cure and not the other way around. We're dealing with very ruthless men here, Machine. You must at least attempt to match their creativity and cruelty with some of your own? We cannot out rule any possibility quite yet... but perhaps an unstoppable virus could have been the tool with which the Overseer cleansed those locked away with Cole and Kokichi... a swift, quiet massacre. As a machine, surely you would understand the efficiency in such a weapon? It's practically? And if we can develop such an understanding, then I am sure the Overseer's brightest and best could have too..."

"Rebar won't do much good against a virus, Cinder... nor will it help against guns. Save yourself the hassle and just fight with your fists; unless you're used to using screamer sticks of similar weapons, you're more likely to break your wrist in open combat, should the bullets and pathogens not get to you first..."

Will looked over at the yellow annoying man who had gotten into a fight with the horned lady. " I can read and comprehend quite well. The files I read was that they were combatting the pathogen, so your theory falls dead in the water on that notion. If the pathogen was designed to combat the cure, then the people would be working on curing the pathogen. We also cannot know that, making assumptions isn't going to help anyone. We do not know if the Overseer has any sort of knowledge or even knows about the pathogen. Besides- if the overseer wanted to kill us- why let us find weapons or climb up and find these documents? "How do we know that the Overseer had anything to do with this facility at all?" Akande stepped in right as Will and Sinestro began bickering, having none of it. "An abandoned quarantine facility could be an excellent site for her little game. Known only to those still living...if there even are those in this area still alive, judging by all the broken equipment and stains lying about. We're isolated from the rest of the world, locked up where no one can find us. It's as Will says: it's more atmospheric in nature than anything else."

Still, he did wonder... "Now, that isn't to say the Overseer isn't alone in this. I can't imagine one solitary being capable of capturing not just us, but the others locked away in that other cell group, giving all of us these bracelets, and coordinating it so we would all awaken and start playing at the same time. I am sure she has others behind the scenes, as well, helping her in her schemes. After all, there is strength in numbers."

As Will started looking at the desk, Akande joined him. "But what I still don't know is why, and that's my biggest question. Why are we here in this booby-trapped facility? To play some sort of game, yes...but what is the motivation for hosting it at all? Calling us scum, having us work together...either this Overseer is some twisted vigilante hoping to give us some sort of justice, or she's some twisted socialite who wanted to see us all play some little game." He shrugged. "I could be wrong on either counts, but there's little information to go on, as it is."

"Cull the weak and use the strong,"
Dhaos spoke up to Doomfists musings giving his thoughts on the matter. "I do not believe she is interested in all of us, only in the ones that will survive this ordeal. " I can believe that-,"
he said, carefully covering the pistol on the side of his body from being seen. That was in case of having to kill any deviants or infected or anyone like Thaal who kept insisting that he was wrong about everything or if worse things came to worse, himself. It wasn't like his memory couldn't be retrieved or uploaded to something. There was always other options. He knew what the crime of his was for being here, or rather the sins of the previous Connor 60. He had killed deviants and humans with no mercy and he was after just the upload features. The memories of his were also his, but he didn't dare to say that aloud. His LED went back to blue. " I imagine use us. I have the feeling that the bracelets can kill us if we don't play her game. And for her game, she wants us to work together, or at least have the illusion of working together. We couldn't get this high without working together, if she keeps doing things like this, we won't have a choice but to work together. Probably wants to make a team out of the survivors to do something for her," he added as an afterthought.

"Rehabilitation."

Izuru once again made his presence known as he stood a few meters behind Will, Akande, and Dhaos, staring off in another direction with a dull look. A strange ability of his it was; one could only ever acknowledge him when he wanted to be acknowledged. Otherwise, it was like he wasn't among the group at all.

"A game like this would logically be used to cull the negative characteristics that are shared among you all. Selfishness, deceptiveness, cruelty, even apathy. Place an idea in the head of the ignorant masses, and it will spread like an infection, producing a stock of like-minded individuals who could be manipulated at the will of the one who showed them what they 'need,' or what they know as 'truth.'"

He paused, his voice suddenly beginning to drip with bitterness. "Imagine existing only to be used by someone else, and seeing no reason to act otherwise."

He tilted his head downward, closing his eyes for a moment.

"What a pitiful, boring existence that would be."

"I think you might both right." Akande couldn't help but grin as he heard what these two theorized. "We work together, but those unsuitable for whatever her end goal is perish. That's a possibility. Already she cut down almost everyone in the other cell block...we should ask our friends about what exactly happened in that death trap of theirs."

As Izuru made himself known, Akande chuckled. "Well, she said herself rehabilitation wasn't her goal here. I suppose you may have tuned her out out of boredom, though." From his jovial tone, it was clear he was merely teasing, not making an actual jab at Izuru. "But the Overseer won't need to use me for anything. Thaal gave Will a lion's glare, his thinned eyes cutting deep into the android. Rage brewed and stewed within him, rising and falling with every breath. He swallowed it down. It wouldn't serve him to lose his temper. Not here. Not now. But nevertheless, something urged him to defend himself, to remind Will that no one walks over Thaal Sinestro and leaves unscathed. He would not be undermined by an overgrown microwave, not now, not ever.

His words were callous and careless, unbarred and unrestricted by anger or irritation.

"Oh, does it bother you to be called a machine, machine?" Thaal smiled a condescendingly smile "To be a mere imitation of life? I'm sure it kills you to know that you're never going to be truly alive. All of us came about as the result of billions of years of trial and error and growth and survival. You, on the hand, simply rolled off some godforsaken production line. And yet you claim to be of some higher intelect? You're nothing more than a chain of ones and zeros strung together and tied up in a tin shell. Your faulted ignorant logic simply brings down everyone around you. Try to put yourself in the shoes the shoes of a human for once..."

It was time to test the creatures coding. Would he get mad? Would he need time to process how information? Or wouldn't he simply read another one of his set responses? The possibilities excited the Yellow Lantern to no end.

"Machine, you're a programmed puppet. Scripted; Your mind is disgustingly closed. You out rule the possibility of biological weaponry based on several highly retracted files, only to go on to admit how coincidental this planted evidence is l. You underestimate our foe; if she seemks to manipulate us so, for rehabilitation purposes or for entertainment or god knows whatever else, wouldn't she take every advantage she could and plant false information? She could be covering something up? Warping our opinions? I wouldn't expect a box of numbers such as yourself to understand, but the living are capable of emotion- un-programmed, chaotic emotions- and these emotions lead us to evil- we kill, we cheat. Try to follow my logic, here. Save this file somewhere important; In your nativity, you have placed your faith in a source we know to be dishonest. Learn to be critical of this content. Learn that man is innately evil and will seek to manipulate your program. And so far, they have succeeded; You place your trust in documents that contain more retractions than words, and yet you dare to call me minded for questioning them? Quaint."

Perhaps there was some semblance of altruism in Thaal's words. Maybe he wished to see Will's breed of 'ignorance' undermined before he could convince the others to follow such primative lines of thought. Or maybe he had just grown to dislike the machine on a deeper, personal level. He didn't care. There were bigger fish to fry than their petty disagreements.

"But let's not fry your circuits, little robot. I won't take offence to you misusing my name; I'm certain it's simply another glitch in your system. But know this: seek to lecture me on fear again and I assure you, the Overseer will have to send her agents into the microverse to fish out your scrap..." After a heart beat of silence, Thaal slapped Will's arm lightly in feinted friendship, his friendly facade returning to him "But I'm sure it won't come to that. Perhaps we can still get along. Perhaps we can avoid killing each other, for now at least. Refrain from seeking to attack my pride again, little man, and I see no reason why we cannot co-exist"
"How do we know that the Overseer had anything to do with this facility at all?" Akande stepped in right as Will and Sinestro began bickering, having none of it. He shrugged. "I could be wrong on either counts, but there's little information to go on, as it is."

@Jeremi @Lucky @Sark
"At last... some semblance of logic" Thaal muttered, a knuckle to his chin "You've given us much to think about, Akande. Perhaps this 'Overseer' believes herself to be some sort of... 'hero' rather than the lawman I once believed her to be... the only question remains as to what grudges she - or her organisation- hold towards us? There are billions of creatures in this multiverse far more threatening than this the Machine or the young-ones...

"As much as it pains me to admit it, the Overseer had given us a fighting chance, just as the Machine suggested" Maybe Will wasn't as useless as he had predicted after all... "Don't misunderstand me; she can still and most likely will kill us. But like prisoners in group B, we were given a fighting chance. 50/50. With the information layed out for us and the dangers we have encountered so far, I cannot help but feel as if the Overseer needs us for something. That's she's using us for a task she's unable or unwilling to complete with her own staff... if she's willing to kill half of us already, then logic would dictate that she requires us to complete a dangerous task, one where a high mortality rate is to be expected...

Which makes me wonder... if this facility has gone to such lengths to quarantine maintain its quarantine, which do we have a corpse on the lower floors? And more importantly... where are the other infected?"

"Cull the weak and use the strong," Dhaos spoke up to Doomfists musings giving his thoughts on the matter. " It doesn't bother to be called a machine at all. I just have a name that you can use which is easier," he said, looking over at him and thought about how to address him and finally settled for something. " You know after nearly a billion of years of trial and error and growth and survival, you think you would be smarter after all this, but turns out the growth and survival couldn't account for arrogance and violent tendencies. I know what I am, and I know what I know. I have a simple question for you, yellow man. Without your powers and I assume that you have some with your arrogance, do you know who you are anymore without or are you just a shell?"

It would have been so easy to get mad at him for his view, but he had learned from his previous models and Amanda, it was better to outmaneuver and cause self- doubt then it was to punch and shoot the person when equipment was low.

" As much as you like to think that I'm programmed and scripted, my mind is not. I didn't rule out the possibility, I'm only going off the information that I can read. I can't attest for the emotions of the Overseer who we have only seen twice, but perhaps, underestimating her is a good thing. The more a person thinks you believe every word they speak, the less likely it is she will believe we can escape. How do we know that she even knows about the files? For all we know, this can be an abandoned place she had set up and some things were left behind by the people before. I wouldn't expect a man whose natural defense is to play the victim to understand, but I do understand how humans work. I know all the psychology and behaviors of humans, I wouldn't be an effective model if I wasn't," he said, looking over at him before deciding to add something. " Perhaps you never have considered the fact that I can lie about what I do and don't believe, but then again, you didn't seem that bright back in the cells and when you were getting beaten, so perhaps I misread the intelligence I thought you had," he replied back to him without missing a beat.

Will had made sure to keep his hands away from the pistol. If he drew it now, he wouldn't even think twice about shooting the man in the head. It was almost instinct to do just that. But for now, he had a lot of humans who trusted him and didn't know what he did as the Connor 60. Besides, some were already on the fence about him. But if there was a moment where the bullet can miss and kill some of his problems, well Will wouldn't stop it.

" You assume very little of me. Just because I'm nice doesn't mean I am a pushover. There's a difference between nice and good and don't make that mistake. " He didn't reply to his second statement, but he filed it away for later. There were others here and even though Dhaos hated him, he did think Akande and Hela and Wesker would take too kind if the yellow man attacked him.

Will pulled his arm, so Thaal would only be slapping air. He was not interested in a friendship or care for it thought. " As much as those tricks might work on humans, I don't believe a work you say. Besides, if you are worried so much about your pride, you should worry about the fall you will have for your arrogancne. Pride cometh before the fall, but I'm sure we can co-exist."
