[Dark Urban Fantasy] Chains of Retribution

Just a headsup we'll have these launched soon. We had a bit of a fiasco this past week with a leak in our living room ceiling that prevented me from getting things started.

Okay, after all the offline insanity that hung things up, can say we will be starting this up tomorrow! If anyone still hasn't submitted their characters, try to have them to me soon. People are welcome to join after things start if you need more time. Some of the information pages aren't quite finished yet, but for the sake of letting people get started, we're going to flesh those out as we go.

If anyone had any questions regarding information they needed to make characters and I missed it or forgot (seriously, last two weeks have been pure chaos!) just poke me a reminder here or in PM.

Oh, and just as a note. I'm going to be posting up a couple of completed scenes today that are from the original roleplay since they were more or less the turning point into the new direction of the roleplay as we split it off into its own thing. This is mostly to help set the mood of things, and because they were kind of awesome scenes to write and we want to preserve them. For new players who didn't have characters present during these scenes in the original roleplay you don't need to feel obligated to read them since your characters will need to learn about the events IC anyways, and they're quite lengthy (but you're more than welcome to!).

Okay instead of picking through everything for key points, I decided it was honestly just easier to copy over all our old posts from the night of the attack on the Bloodstone pack by the Scions. As mentioned above though, no one should at all feel obligated to read through it all! It's nearly 500 posts from the original roleplay that I mostly just moved over for the sake of the players that were involved in that event. Despite the number of posts, the actual span of time covered was almost entirely just that one single night, with some aftermath stuff the following day. A lot of action happened in that single night though with a lot of characters, hence so many posts. Characters that weren't present for these scenes in the original roleplay can learn about the happenings of that night IC instead of the players needing to read through all those posts.

That all said, we'll be getting the new threads posted up tomorrow to start the roleplay up and to get some new content churning out :)

Definitely still open. We're aiming to start today, but any late arrival can join up after their characters are done, so no rush.

The roleplay follows the urban packs, so yeah, we're specifically looking for pack characters. I wouldn't be entirely against a non-werewolf with good reason though. IE a family relation to a pack member kind of deal. Would need a very strong connection though, and a reason for the packs to involve the character in their business affairs, otherwise there won't be a lot of roleplay opportunity.

Ok so no vampires, gotcha.

Vampires WOULD be on the table later into the RP in an antagonistic role, but not at the current point in time. If you have interest in them though I'll certainly keep you in mind for when that particular aspect of the roleplay begins to progress (we do have some stuff planned that will incorporate vampires later on). Wouldn't mind some extra hands to help with that when the time comes. For now though, no vampires.

Ok cool, I'll keep that in mind when the time comes.

Rash and reckless, Gavion represents the ferocity of the Redfang pack. He is the son of Jouric Renard, the leader of this small, but proud pack of werewolves who, despite their criminal roots, strive to make an honest living for the betterment of all werewolves.

He is emotional, headstrong, temperamental, and is thus prone to lose his head when the situation goes south. However, he is a survivor as are all of the Renard's. Having overcome poverty, disease, and pack violence the Renard's have survived it all and escaped with their dignity along with a few scraps of hope.

With the knowledge that he will one day lead the Redfangs Gavion fears that his father is weakening the pack by promoting virtue over strength and trying to make honest citizens out of them. Yet he knows his place and recognizes his familial duty.

When Silvia Renard, Jouric's wife, was killed in the crossfire by Scions the Redfangs allied with the Bloodstones, with whom they've always maintained a working relationship, though it was always purely business. But the Redfangs seek more than vengeance- they believe that the Bloodstones can usher forth a new age for werewolves. One without bloodshed and crime. But Gavion is not the man his father is. He has not endured and learned from the trials and tribulations of Jouric Renard and thus fails to see the wisdom in patience and peace. He only knows action and violence.

Hm. We hadn't actually been planning for more packs, but I think I can spin this. We have in the past established that the Bloodstones do have an amiable relation with a lot of the smaller fringe packs, and often allow them to operate within Bloodstone territory in mutually advantageous operations. They also have been known to lend use of their doctor (a very rare and valuable commodity within the werewolf packs). So there's plenty of basis for there to have been past relations with the Redfangs. That said, I do have a few questions. Are you planning to play all the characters in the pack, or will you require players to help fill it out? If the latter, do you have an approximate size you're aiming for the pack to be?

My apologies, didn't mean to throw you a curve ball but I'm glad it works out. To answer your question I was planning on making two more characters tonight (Gavion's father Jouric and his sister Juliette). The 'Fangs are a rather small pack but if any players wish to make characters within their ranks I'm open to that possibility.

How small we talking? 5? 7? 10? Just need s rough idea and the number can change if needed as we work on things. Just need a starting ballpark that your envisioning.

Well there's the 3 I made, plus I'd say about 7 altogether I suppose.

Alright. I'll see if I can find some players interested in filling in with a couple pack members so you won't be roleplaying by yourself. The biggest challenge you're going to encounter, especially early on, is that all of the other players have characters who are in the Bloodstone pack. This gives people a lot of flexibility with roleplay for them. You on the other hand will be playing outside of the pack, meaning there's only going to be certain occasions when it'll make sense to be cross-interacting. It won't be as easy to include you in all things. Depending on how the pack dynamics develop, this may improve for you as the story progresses, but I can't say for sure. I would probably suggest you consider making an additional character who is a member of the Bloodstone pack so you can make sure you can be involved more easily on that end, especially while we work on building up your fringe pack into the story. Unless you just don't mind a slower pace, since I know you were looking to join my other roleplay also. Just let me know your preference.

I don't mind making another character for the Bloodstones.

Ah good, awesome. That'll help a lot with getting you involved early on :) And take the pressure off trying to force the Redfang side of things to be developed too quickly that it doesn't make sense. Can gradually grow them into the story, and get player interest for them as things go, and you can still participate with all the other players more easily.

Sounds good to me
