[Science-Fantasy/Magitech] Elysian Vanguard: The Rising Storm

I'm quite familiar with the show and while the concept itself could certainly fit within the overarching setting, I'm not sure it would necessarily fit with the Vanguard itself.

They're very morally driven and I can't think of a situation in which they would partake in such things.

Like... I could see some experimenting going on in Varnathus to utilize those kind of tactics, but even if the Vanguard where to stumble across such individuals, their most logical course of action would be to restore the original, not to turn it into a weapon for themselves.

This roleplay is more or less meant to be a bit of a contrast to the grim-dark feel of Chains of Retribution. It's a roleplay that focuses on the hope and resilience of humanity (I use the word humanity loosely since not all characters are human) against seemingly insurmountable odds. The Vanguard are your unwavering beacons of light standing against the dark do they're less shades of grey and not likely to utilize their own members as tools.

That is unless you were planning this to be an independent voluntary character ability rather than something done to them, in which case the characters themselves temporarily replace their personas with ones they have created for specific purposes. That would make it more viable that the Elysian Vanguard would utilize such an individual.

Understood, but what if it were not a tactic of the vanguard but rather a tactic of corrupt forces outside the Vanguard exploiting the intentionally exploiting the characters for whatever means. Interacting with the Vanguard could be a way for the characters to introduced into the RP and rescuing them from their puppet-masters a way of eventually recruiting the characters into the Vanguard.,
Just a thought. I am certainly willing to ditch the idea altogether but I am just really intrigued by the whole idea/challenge.

It may certainly be a possibility down the road, but for now we really need more characters that are already affiliated with the Vanguard. Most people have been showing interest in making characters who aren't members yet. Initially I was open to accommodating a few people, but unfortunately I haven't had a single new submissions for any actual Vanguard characters. Since the roleplay follows the Vanguard, and if everyone makes non-vanguard characters, we don't have enough players with characters already in the Vanguard for all the non-vanguard people to RP with and to still run the opening plot lines. Really need to make sure we have more Vanguard characters than not Vanguard characters.

Fair enough, I was not aware the ration was that one-sided. I will concentrate on making characters that are already established in the Vanguard. I have a couple in mind already.

Awesome, thanks. We do try to give people a lot of creative freedom though when it comes to developing the story and world, so definitely would be interested in turning that idea into a full blown plot arc in the future once we get a good lineup of characters established and the story underway a bit.

Just a headsup we'll have these launched soon. We had a bit of a fiasco this past week with a leak in our living room ceiling that prevented me from getting things started.

Okay, after all the offline insanity that hung things up, can say we will be starting this up tomorrow! If anyone still hasn't submitted their characters, try to have them to me soon. People are welcome to join after things start if you need more time. Some of the information pages aren't quite finished yet, but for the sake of letting people get started, we're going to flesh those out as we go.

If anyone had any questions regarding information they needed to make characters and I missed it or forgot (seriously, last two weeks have been pure chaos!) just poke me a reminder here or in PM.

Yep :) this roleplay can support large numbers of players and characters via simply launching more side-arcs as it grows to avoid oversaturating individual threads. That also means we don't put any restrictions on how many characters people want to play either (but each character can only be in a single arc at a time because they can't be in multiple places at once).

@Tiko Hey, so I'm working on my character but I was wondering if there's any major races or geographical locations I should know.

That's okay, the lore is vague to allow us to mold it to characters as needed so as long as you have a rough idea you should be okay to work on a character. Unless something just blatantly and outright makes no sense at all, we can usually work things in.

Just a reminder to everyone! Though we have started up this roleplay we still have plenty of room for more players, so if you're interested let us know!
