Akori Academy for a Better Future

Luna quickly turned and noticed the crumbling just seconds before it fell. Millions of thoughts were running through her head - Oh shoot will I die? How heavy are these? Maybe I could soften the rubble before it hits me- However, when she was surrounded by the earth dome and she had her hand out, she felt faint and sighed, surprised at how quickly everything had gone. She shot a glance at Lethabo. She hadn't tried attack him earlier - she knew her strength, there was no way she was going to be fast enough to breathe on him, let alone hit him. Hopefully, there'd be a challenge that involved less strength and more brains...

Meanwhile, near Lethabo, two bolts of lightning were shot at his legs and back from behind.

It was a nice try but it hadn't worked. Zadkiel dusted off his clothes as he got up. So it was over, huh. Maybe next time he'd have better luck. He sat in the seat off to the side. He was interested to hear the teacher's analysis. So he sat there eyeing Mr. Lethabo, waiting to hear what he had to say.

Emory always seems to be ok and seems to like Everything! Your a great Guy Em!)
@UnfortunateSoul
Aurona flips out and Grabs Alexi’s arm pulling it away.
“ The teacher said to stop! We can’t fight him any more!” She tries to get her peer to not smack the gym teacher in the back of the head or just slap him at all. Which was hard when the other person had stechy bendy arms.
“ No need for more violence !”

Tolliilian sat awkwardly in the back towards the middle of the class. She hunched over prepping up her head as she thought. She opened her mouth to critique some of the other students but stopped. It was the teacher’s job to do that, as well as the fact they would probably be offended if she informed them that their strategies were weak at best and deadly at worst for them against the teacher. Hiwvee she simply cut out all the ocmplicstion and Looked at who she had labeled as Blitzer girl ,Kylie, she was just thinking of all the ways she could vividly express what she saw as sheer stupidity in her strategy and the thousands of senarios she could face.
Or Eugene, or , the list goes on. But it all leads back to her. Here she was breaking down strategies and the effects their abilities would have in a one in one senario yet she had failed to act at all and do anything to contribute til the end and it was over. Her own failure began to make her simmer.
She went form battlefield stealth , to self reflection, to technicalities, and ended up at philosophy, specifically aginst time. Her head running away with the show. By now she was curled up, right as a rock and unless her name was called or she was touched she was elsewhere, running like a computer more than a human being.

Finally after who knows how long and by who knew how far the class was already along she Looks at the other others gives a small wave, of they ackowldhe her existence and just tears out little pieces from her journal to hand to each of them. Finding words and imporivments and a full break down of how the powers seemed from the outside in. Anyone could accept or reject this but it was mostly critical and object.

Eugene went up to the stool and sat down, but he wasn't happy. He didn't like being a glorified rag doll and he didn't like being toyed with. The teacher immediately initiated combat, and he was simply caught up in the middle. The young man was furious and maintained a constant scowl as he sat down on the stool, with a noticeable pain in his gut and a small bruise on his head.

Mr. Lethabo began going over to each student, but the sudden the lightning bolts going for him makes him jump out of the way of the attack. The attack didn't hit him, but the heat from the bolts of electricity singed his legs a bit, which pained him but it was an easily hidden pain. He forms a quick covering of rock over his lower legs to hide his singed skin and acted as if nothing had happened, since it seems the situation had resolved itself. First he walks up to Artyom.

"I am impressed with how you handled the situation but I feel you spent too much trying to get Eugene for a plan rather then see how you can defeat me by yourself. While fighting, try to figure out how you can defeat an enemy with minimal risks and if you are unable, then go to your peers for assistance. For instance, you threw the rocks back at me with increased mass, but what you could've done is throw smaller pebbles with the same mass so I would have been able to not see them as easily among the debris and you would have better accuracy." Lethabo moves to Eugene.

"You showed great durability by being able to take multiple shots, but you coward and refused to work with your teammates. This will get you killed or worst, get your peers killed. Learn to work with others and learn to make use of your powers better." He moves to Kylie.

"You also showed great promise. However you need to more aware of your surroundings more. I would have lost this spar sooner if you had not exposed your peer so soon into the fight. Remember that you are not the only one here and learn to coordinate with your team more. Giving a girl who is unable to fight properly does not count." He goes to Jack

"You also need to learn coordinate with your teammates. You have the ability to have great stealth but without great teamwork it will be fore naught in most situations. Spar a bit with others and work together to beat opponents as a team." He goes to Toliilian.

"Spend less time thinking and more time acting. It is good to do both, but if you can only do one, then act. Thinking while not acting will only be a hindrance to your team. Try making time to spend with people who are more impulsive and see if you cannot learn a bit from them." He walks to Alexia

"You first spend most of your time trying to distract me, which didn't work. You then, took to long to act. While you did, remember that in an actual combat situation, 1 second could mean life or death for civilians, yourself or your team members. Your attack took so long that my stunt of collapsing the ceiling could've killed everyone before you could've gotten it off." He walks to Zadkiel

"You did not even attempt to work with your peers. You simply tried to run in with no plan or strategy, simply to touch me. How do you not know I might turn your attack against your team member, use Kylie or Jack as a shield and make you grab them instead then finish your both off before moving on to the next one." He then go over to Ellen

"You are unfit for this form of combat. Instead of trying to attack me, help your peers if they are willing. See if anyone needed help or encouragement. Be a support member, not an attacking if you are unable to engage in combat. That being said I suggest you take some form of martial defense combat and learn what you can about medicine if you wish. It will allow you to be more versatile in your roles." He finally walks up to Luna

"Learn to act more quickly. As I stated before, standing around will not achieve victory." He said simply and with the final comment he had, he walks up to the front of the gym with the singed flesh being a bit less tolerable, but still able to be hidden.

"You are all impressive in your own right, but you all need to learn your strengths and weaknesses. Surpass your weaknesses and improve your strengths. That is how people become stronger in life. With this your initiation is done. Return to your rooms, or not. By tomorrow we should have classes starting and please enjoy our hot showers if you want." He said and bows to the students and waits for them to leave.

-----------

Eugene didn't really care for the fact that the teacher seemed to look down on him for simply trying to NOT get injured. It annoyed him but he kept quiet and when it was time to leave, he was the first out, taking a swift stride out of the now ruined gym to get a nice hot shower.

"Nice lesson, Teach!" said a voice in the back of the gym, applauding. A tall boy with spiky orange hair and green eyes was walking up to Lethabo. "I really get what you're sayin'. I thought I was gonna catch you off-guard with the lightning, but it looks like I was too slow, heh heh!" Etha smiled at Lethabo, seemingly not taking any of this - even the part where the ceiling might've collapsed on them - seriously. "If we ever do this again, I'm gonna hit you, you can bet on that, Teach!"

Luna, meanwhile, gulped as she walked back to her dorm. She knew she wouldn't be able to do anything, so she didn't do anything... and that got her lectured. But what if she just got someone else hurt? What would she do, anyway? Soften him up before she got punched away? Luna sighed. Here she was, making excuses for not acting. I'm going to do something next time, no matter how little it is. I did not get into this school for no reason, and I'm going to prove it. In the meanwhile... I need a time-killer. Might as well introduce myself to some fellow students, she thought, looking over her teammates. She was getting a lot of too pleasant and carefree vibes from everyone... except this blond girl with the purple eyes.

Why do I feel like this is a bad idea? she said, walking to her.

Alexis's arm swung wildly as Aurona tried to snatch the stretched out arm to the side, swaying from side to side as if she was doing that strange magic trick where a pencil becomes bendy. "But I like violence" The arm came hurdling back after a quick tug, wrapping around the blue girl's hips until the limp hand could poke Aurona's forehead with a pout. "I totally would have won us the whole class right there" When the teacher apparently started talking to Alexia, thinking he was talking to her, her face twisted in confusion. "I tried to distract someone? I just wanted to make everything shake with a big WA-BOOOM"

Listening to the gym teacher with a neutral expression Jack inwardly seethed at Lethabo's observations. Sure he wasn't the most sociable guy but he thought he supported his classmates rather well holding their opponent in place and making a weapon for that one girl.

But he understood his role here was one of a student and as such he might as well try to learn something. Perhaps he could cooperate better with his classmates, yet it seemed to Jack that such a style would nullify his strengths of stealth and surprise.

Jack might've pondered over his performance a bit more but he didn't really care what the teacher thought about him. He wasn't a hero and he never would be. The only reason he was here was to learn how to better control his powers and maybe do something good along the way. So he'd pass on the bright-colored leotard and corny alias and just work on progressing himself.

When the adrenaline suddenly faded from his system, Jack felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. The sharp pain in his dislocated shoulder was now much more painful than before since he had nothing to distract his mind from it. With the prospect of a shower on his mind he rose from his stool, holding his sore shoulder, and walked at a brisk pace towards his room.

As Lethabo spoke, Kylie only gave him a silent, sidelong glance. Even if he believed it was sound advice, the girl never cared much for being lectured in general. Of course, that was the whole point of being at a school, but it wasn't like she particularly chose to be here. Then again, the girl figured she may as well heed this so-called advice... or at least try to. She didn't imagine she would be thrust in many situations in the future where she'd have to coordinate with other students like a team as they're all forced into a fight or something, right?

That would just be troublesome.

In the meantime, Kylie tuned out while Lethabo tended to the other students, and before she knew it, it was all over. Wordlessly, she left, making her way back to her dorm, hoping to get another taste of her interrupted drink again, but of course, things in life weren't so simple. As he took notice of a certain girl beginning to approach her intently, she gazed upon her with cold eyes, about a notch or two below disdain but still eerie, her hand in the middle of recovering the soda she'd left on a nearby desk.

"... Do you need something?" She asked the girl walking up to her.

@UnfortunateSoul
Aurona smilies and tries to reflect this to Alexis by drawing a smoky face on her big black suit before she grabs the hand of the smaller girl and tries to lead her off so they can go cause mayhem together.
“ Ooh can I carry you? But let’s avoid getting the teacher to bury us alive why don’t we? We still have to meet the others and make so many new friends ! Let’s go check out the doend! Then maybe we can play some harmless pranks ok?”

@Emory ( comming for ya buddy)
Tolliilian had been lost in thought however she did have a hypothesis she wanted to confirm or deny. With this she looked around for the shadow boy before realizing he had gotten away. She got up and took off quickly running, easily dodging around students as she hunted him like a dog. HER THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE WOULD BE QUENCHED!
It was hard to catch up as she ran at her half clip and he was only briskly walking. Lacking in social grace she looked at Jack before calling out to him.
“ HEY SHADOW BOY!”
She stops before she has a chance to barrel into him she taps on his shoulder. ( you can decide which she touches.)
“ Hey you! Shadowo,shady. I have a question about your ability. Now I saw you Manipulste the shadows. Can you hide in another person’s shadows? Or inside of the shadows inside of a box?”

"I apologize if I'm too blunt for you, but I believe that this whole experience will be much simpler with an ally," Luna said, not wasting any time. "I'm not really all that interested in beating around the bush. You heard what Lethabo said after the challenge - we all have our separate flaws, and those could cost us a great deal if we ever need to truly set out on something dangerous. I saw what you were doing at the challenge, and it was actually pretty cool. So..." Luna said, giving a slightest hint of a smile. "What do you think? Or do you have any questions?"
@Ver

The opening felt a bit condescending for Kylie's taste, but as she listened to what the girl had to say to her, it was... still a bit jarringly assertive. Not that forward was necessarily a bad thing, even as the girl seemed to pride herself in being such, but it wasn't as though Kylie was in any mood to currently appreciate such a sentiment.

She could only furrow her brow as she referred back to Lethabo's lecture, highlighting what they needed to work on, or as she preferred to call it, their flaws, and there it was again. The pressing need to get better "just in case." The world was indeed dangerous, at least for people like them, but most of them went down easy enough with a punch to the face, and that was good enough for Kylie, even if she might get a dissenting voice saying "but what if?"

"I figured the whole point of any given school was to help us avoid dangerous situations, and yet, here we are being taught how to hurt people harder," Kylie said facetiously without even looking at the girl, letting the earnest compliment bypass her. She finished the rest of her soft drink, before easily crushing the can in her hand without even having to use her Reinforcement, and then proceeding to give a one-armed shrug toward the strange girl, finally meeting her gaze.

"Do what you want, at least if you're asking what I think you're asking. I don't really care about what that old man thinks."

@will30358

@ODSTDRAGON
Hearing his name, or rather "SHADOW BOY", Jack cocked his head to the side, disinclined to turn around. That was until he felt the tap on his injured shoulder sending jolts of pain screaming down his arm. He let out a slight groan under his breath but refrained from any loud noises.

Instead he lashed out and smacked her hand away with his good arm, before diving into her shadow. He hadn't thought about the action, in fact it was entirely instinctive. Yet it was different from his previous displays of umbrakinetic camouflage as he had been manipulating the shadows around his body. This time he'd manipulated himself, transforming his body into pure, ethereal darkness which allowed him to hide in the girl's shadow. The whole process occurred in the blink of an eye, suprising himself just as much as it would any onlookers.

Jack had grown up on the streets and this wasn't the first time a stranger had snuck up on him from behind. However, he quickly realized this stranger wasn't a threat presently and that his shadow transformation wasn't at all necessary. Letting go of the shadows his body materialized from the girl's shadow and there stood Jack holding his shoulder with a sly grin on his face. "I guess so," he said in response to her questions.

Tolliilian smilies at his reaction letting out a postivive squeak of sure excitement. Mainly due to her hypothesis being confirmed! She smilies delighted, and well she decided to fan girl a little bit.
“ That’s awesome! I’m just sad! I had a way to beat the teacher and this would’ve been so helpful to accomplish that goal! Say that’s pretty cool. I kinda wish my power was as good as yours.” She smilies before noticing that his shoulder isn’t right.
“ Anyway are you ok? Your shoulder seems off. Can you still use your arm?”
@Emory
( sorry for it being so short may re edit but this was posted before work and I’m having trouble thinking and paying attention)
She was thinking that he could still use it right? However her mind shifted to maybe when they got out of here they could become a infiltration team. If he became part of the shadows she could esstially hide him in a coat or pocket before going through a wall or ceiling. It would be impossible to keep them out.
Next time they may be able to take down Lethabo with ease. Or most other teachers for that matter

Watching Kylie's expression, Luna slightly winced. Damn it, came on way too hard. I don't want to play the cocky angle, but I'm not going to act desperate. "Well, in my opinion, if we're going to avoid danger, sometimes a little roughhousing is necessary," she said, not even thinking of strategizing anymore. "I'm weak. I know it. At best, I might be able to soften someone's skin before they get me. I couldn't do anything against Lethabo, and there's no point in denying it. Compared to you all, I'm awfully pathetic, heh." Luna seemed to accept this, knowing her flaws without letting them consume her. "But if I can replace strength for smarts, maybe I can find a way to solve that problem. In this type of world, people don't like people like us, but... maybe they just need a little compassion. Maybe we need to show them more compassion."

Luna shrugged before sighing. "That's way more cheesy than I expected. But anyway, I'm not going to blackmail or force you to work with me or anything. I just believed it'd give us an edge. Whether you feel like participating is entirely your decision, and I'll try not to get in the way of it."

@Ver

Jack's subtle grin persisted as Tolliilian inquired about his shoulder. "Oh this," he said, eyeing his shoulder. "It's nothing, I'm sure I'll be good in no time." Thinking about what she had said about her powers he thought back to the lesson with Lethabo. "Speaking of powers I didn't see you out there so I have no idea what your power is. So what makes you so... special?" He emphasized the last word as if he somehow felt it wasn't the proper word.

"..."

Kylie only remained silent for a moment as Luna went on, going from some sort of self-pitying to an almost grand speech about... something. Kylie didn't really know if she'd said anything to trigger this kind of response, but she quickly became a bit ill at ease. This girl was somewhere between insistent and lackadaisical, if such a thing were possible, talking of both roughhousing and compassion like they went hand in hand. Letting her hand fall to her hip, the blonde pursed her lips lightly.

"Jeez, you're a piece of work, aren't you?" Kylie asked, letting a sigh escape her soft lips, "It's not like I said no or anything. Like I said, do what you want. You don't need to try that much harder to convince me," she said, before beginning to turn around, tossing her crushed can into a nearby trash can, before speaking one more time.

"... I'm Kylie, by the way."

"Luna. Or Scarlet, whatever. Nice to make your acquaintance."

"Oh, we're making acquaintances?" said Ethan, coming near the two girls which a beat in his step. "That challenge was too bad. I thought I was able to hit him while he was distracted, but it looks like Teach knows his stuff, heh heh!"

Luna eyed the boy warily. Okay, who's this guy? It's obvious that I didn't exactly hit it off with her, but he came out of literally nowhere.

@Ver

"Why carry when I can carry myself?" She retorted... As she let her self get dragged along. "Friends? I'm not allowed to punch those" A pout stretching her cheeks, eyes looking out over the other students. She didn't expect to see so many mutants or for them to look so... Normal. Maybe she was just used to looking odd compared to everyone else. "I can pull pranks..." The girl grunted before muttering "Name's Alexis. People call me Al."

"Luna or Scarlet, huh? Those don't sound very similar at all," Kylie lightly snarked, probably the friendliest exchange she'd engaged in her entire time at Aorki so far. Of course, before she could say anymore, someone else helped himself into the conversation, throwing off the flow.

As a male student entered the fray, Kylie's expression took on a serious one again, her hand still poised on her hip. "I guess he wouldn't be a teacher if he didn't know what he was doing, physically at least," she said in a somewhat droll manner, "Not that it really matters either way. Given enough time, I would have been able to get to him no problem, but it is what it is."

@will30358

Zadkiel cringed inwardly as he thought about what Lethabo said. It could have turned out really bad if he had dodged. He needed to work on strategizing. This had been the first fight he had ever been in. Now he knew better than to try that again. So what was he supposed to do in a battle then. He was just about completely useless in ranged battle.

He shook his head, swaying the thoughts from his mind. They'd only make him depressed. On that note he jumped up out of his seat (not literally) and looked around. Everyone it seemed were either leaving or talking to each other. He wasn't one to start conversations so he started walking towards the dorm slowly, leaving himself open in case someone wanted to talk to him.
