Digimon vs Pokemon which is better!

I almost have to agree. Seeing the degee to what digimon can do. They have lots of power. the only Pokemon that could stand up to them is a legendary maybe.

Mods/Admins, feel free to smack me if this is considered necroing a thread.

Growing up I had both Digimon/Pokemon on VHS. I've loved both series but dropped off Pokemon after Diamond and Pearl and Digimon after Season 2/where TK's all grown up. I loved Digimon Tri as it felt like a shoutout to the older fans of the franchise. I've always framed it to myself as

Plot: Digimon

Characters: Pokemon.

I generally prefer Digimon for many reasons. Versatiliy in evolutionary trees, not limited to Generations for new releases(Granted, Pokemon has started doing this, but only in a very limited fashion), and so on.

I always thought...Matt’s companion was a wolf in first stage. Have not seen the new version but love the old digimon. Wasn’t a fan of digimon fusion. So anything up to that I love. Loved how the world was unique and the automatic evolutions.

Pokemon...big fan. Don’t like sun and moon anime. I have read online it is not canon and an alternate universe. I consider pocket monsters a reboot of the franchise. Ash is an idiot in about every season but really grows, from what I remember, in Kalos.
Honestly I love them both but would have to go with Pokémon.

I honestly can't choose. I love both. For their own reasons. I love that Digimon talk english, and I love that Pokemon talk in poketalk and are so darn cute.

Digimon, hands down for story. Pokemon is extremely successful but that's because they have a better foot in the door for the game industry, whereas Digimon has next to none. If you were to ask me if I wanted to play Pokemon, or play a Digimon game, I'd go for Pokemon. But in terms of actual quality of the story that the anime's tell? Digimon has it, hands down with no contest. The characters grow and develop throughout every series far more than any pokemon episode, where it's just the next Blunder with Ash and the iconic monsters. Digimon, you have one tamer (or chosen child,) and their partner. It's developing that bond and friendship to face the overall evil trying to destroy the world. It's far more personal and gives way more investment to the characters and digimon.

In my opinion, the two genres are so vastly different they shouldn't compete however. Pokemon is good in its own right for the gameplay. Digimon is great for the story of its anime. Pokemon is about trying to catch and tame all the monsters, digimon is about the personal bond between Digimon and their partner. Both just tried for two entirely different things.

I always felt that Digimon had the way better story lines, not to mention character aging, and character development. I watched Seasons 1-2 as a kid and loved them. My friend also coerced me into watching Digimon Frontier in high school. Both had very good character story lines in my opinions

As for Pokemon I watched the show and one of the movies when I was younger. I liked the side characters and the pokemon designs but didn't feel much for Ash at the main character. I am starting to see the appeal of the pokemon games though (like I bought Sun and Ultra Moon....and I enjoy them both)
