"Thanks."

Ben proceeds and looks about the area.

"And that is why I take fights outdoors... or an indoor place that doesn't break too hard. The locals are definitely going to notice this gaping hole."

He then looks to the myriad of people.

"Anyways, we came here to see if anyone indoors needed any healing- woah, who's that guy?"

Ben looks in awe at the shining one that was called a 'Grim Reaper' by some individuals in the room. He then shakes his head, snapping back into focus and turning to Schala.

"I'm not really a healing kind of guy, but I'll help however I can."

And so, the battle had ended. Deoxys loomed in silence amidst the empty battlefield as movement stirred around it, the surviving forces recuperating from a long struggle. Indeed, it seemed as if there was minimal damage to the M.E.U compared to the complete annihilation of the enemy forces, and judging by the allies spilling back out from the palace, it seemed as if the Great Spirit was secured. All was well; so they say.

It's strange, battling again on such a large scale. The pride demon proved to give Deoxys some semblance of a real battle between powerful creatures, similar to what it had observed from its solitude on Birth Island.

Solitude is, perhaps, the wrong word. There were occasionally disturbances in the form of humans and their pokemon partners, arriving on the island with hopes to add another powerful creature to their team. Deoxys never eluded these 'trainers,' partially because they were so rare but mostly because they came to that remote island with such seething purpose. It would be a horrible insult on Deoxys' part to deny them a battle.

The outcome was always the same. Trainers fleeing from the island, their unconscious pokemon cradled in their hands. Arrogant and cocky as they were, the urban legends of the Hoenn region state that the meteor-dwelling alien of Birth Island never dared to bring any organism, human and pokemon alike, to death.

Deoxys would have preferred to keep it that way. Fortunately, these enemies were neither human nor pokemon. Nothing is off the table.

Deoxys loomed away from the gathering M.E.U remnants, leaving them to their recuperation as it drifted to where Ben and some of the other allies had gathered, within the confines of the palace. It touched down next to Ben in particular, eying his human form up and down.

"Schala! Wait up!"

Ben exclaims as he follows Schala into the palace, dashing forth.

Now, who else would add to the chain of chaps to join the other group?

@Atomic Knight @York
Elizabeth came over to Wade and Quentin with a questioning look on her face. She scrunched her nose up when she smelled the blood on them. "Are you two all right?" she asked. "That demon really did a number on you both."

Dorian smiled broadly at Connor. "In any case, I am grateful you were unhurt," he said, reaching out to clasp Connor's hand. "I must say, you do look quite dashing with a sword in your hand, amatus."

Other warriors and M.E.U. members were gathering now that the battle outside was over. The loss of life and injury was minimal, especially compared to the total destruction of the Revanchist mages. Some moved to follow Ben and Schala into the palace, but they were met by Josephine Montilyet, who looked quite shaken. "The battle is over," she said. "Anders was defeated and the Great Spirit is safe."

Origin looked up at Will but didn't speak. Even with his eyes obscured, he seemed to stare at her as if he was analyzing her.

"That one is exclusive when it comes to who he speaks with," Morrigan said to Will. "I am sure, however, that he is grateful for the protection."

@Hahli Nuva
"That's good news!" Ben exclaims with delight as he pauses at Josephine's presence. "But... you don't look very happy. Did something else happen?"

@Atomic Knight @Crow @CrunchyCHEEZIT @York @Alex Azure @Space_Candy @Yun Lee @Jeremi @Ver @Lucky @Ottonomous Ghost
Josephine took a moment to respond. "Oh? No... No, it's nothing wrong," she said. "I am just... not accustomed to being on the battlefield."

@Crow
"Well, good to hear that you're A-OK," Ben shrugs, "how about everyone else in the palace? We've got one healer tending to the group outside, so I'm just wondering if another's needed inside."

@Atomic Knight @York
Josephine nodded and stepped aside. "Go ahead and ask if you would like. There are some damages but we have managed to escape relatively unscathed."

Inside the palace were those that had fought Anders, as well as the Great Spirit, Origin. Most of the group only looked bruised for the most part. The bodies of dead mages, copious amounts of debris, and a golem that had been cut in two littered the floor.

@Crow

"It's... Over?" Schala managed to squeak out as she slowly started to catch her breath.

Her mind was still a little fuzzy from casting that many spells at once out in the field. Though she still took a good look at those in the room, taking initiative after Ben mentioned they were here to heal.

"Yes! That's right! If... There is no more Revanchist to worry about here, I'd be more than happy to use my magic to heal the injured and-..." She trailed off a little, smiling when Ben mentioned he wasn't very good at healing, putting a gentle hand in his shoulder.

"It's okay. You've done enough..." She said.

Then, a thoughtfull look crossed her face.

"But if you still want to help. Keep an eye on Origin for me, okay? I don't want a repeat... Of what happened in those ruins..." She added quietly.

Her gaze turned to Deoxys as he touched down near Ben, who seemed interested in the fact that the form of his was not permanent, tilting her head curiously before she remembered she was supposed to be healing people and... Quickly turned to do just that, if no-one stopped her anyways.

She would at least have some of her attention on Origin, incase the Revanchist forces still had one last trick up their sleeves, but she knew she alone probably wouldn't be enough if something did happen. They would all have to keep their guard up, for now...

"I'll be sure to do that then! But let me check..." Ingrid opened her little planner. "Oh dear, palace construction will have to wait. I need to go deliver a few things to someone. Ta-ta, everyone! Do keep Origin safe in the meantime!"

And just like that, Ingrid was gone.

It was then that Casta rejoined the group within the Palace. "Oh dear, what a mess this is...but it looks like Origin is safe, thank goodness. Are we taking him to your headquarters in Knowhere now, or keeping him here?"

Meanwhile, off in the distance, if you were paying enough attention, you could hear a shrill cry of, "Oh, GAWDS!!!" follwed by retching.

Sounds like someone didn't take too kindly to being drenched in demon blood.

"Perhaps it could be of some use to you in the future," Dorian said delicately. "I am sure you could take a couple of lessons. You are quite the studious one, after all." He stared at Connor for a long moment before pulling him a bit closer toward himself.

"Listen, one of these organizations has requested the help of myself and Maevaris. No doubt it has to do with all of this exhausting work with the Revanchist. I was wondering if you wished to join me? You don't have to, just... it might be very dangerous." Dorian seemed serious now. "As in, more dangerous than even this was. I have no desire to place you in the belly of the beast, my dear Connor."

Morrigan was ultimately displeased that the barrier of malevolence that she had spent a considerable amount of time on had been broken. Even if it had ultimately cost Anders his life, it proved her tactic to be fallible, which was not a trait Morrigan enjoyed displaying. She let out a long sigh and approached the unconscious Jennifer. "Anyone wish to help me get this poor girl to a safe location?" she asked. "'Tis the least I can do for her at this point." Morrigan directed the others around her to pick Jennifer up, eyeing Castle as he continued to make light of the situation.

As Morrigan lifted her staff to cast a spell on Jennifer, she felt the light brush of wind against her back, causing goosebumps to break out on her arms. Morrigan shivered. Truly, Buckingham Palace would have quite the draft until it could be repaired. She thought on what might be the best use of the Coven, only barely noticing something peculiar behind Origin. She opened her mouth to speak, but found that there was already a blade made of spiritual energy pierced through Origin's chest.

The Great Spirit opened his own mouth, but no made no sound. He simply fell limp off the sword, disappearing into nothingness. Behind the boy was some kind of spirit.

eVcLCgg.jpg

Morrigan cried out in rage and changed her spell to fire a bolt at the spirit. "Justice will be served," it said. "Vengeance will be wrought." The bolt collided with the spirit and exploded it into a green mist.

At a loss for words, Morrigan looked down at Anders' body. He had not moved, however--

"This... man... had a spirit inhabiting his body. He... 'Twas released when he died..." Morrigan's eyes went wide with horror.

She had failed.

" Perhaps it could be of some use to me in the future. I mean I didn't exactly lea how to shoot a gun on my first try. Or for that matter, cover up a murder, I do like to study." Connor stared back and didn't stop him when he pulled him closer to him.

" I knew that having a life with you was going to be dangerous- but it doesn't matter to me. I choose to have one here- I could have just gone home and forgotten about having great adventures. But I didn't. I don't care how dangerous a task can be,I would rather be in the belly of the beast, then off to the sidelines, waiting to know if you live or die. But we can have each others back. "No!!" Casta cried out in horror as Origin fell dead on the ground.

"We let our guards down for too long," Urbosa said gravely. "It shouldn't have nearly been so easy...I should have known!"

Medea was silent, though you could see under her cloak her lip trembled. "We cannot afford this to happen again," she finally said. "If it does, I fear we are all lost."

From where he stood at Anders' body, Lancer's eyes widened. "You mean...that was all a setup?!" As if an outburst reaction to having failed, Lancer ripped his spear from the corpse and hurled it at the spirit, not bothering to invoke his Noble Phantasm or caring that it had vanished.

The initial noise was enough to get Deoxys moving. The alien was abruptly consumed in a flash of psychic energy, vanishing with the eerie light as it subsided.

DEOXYS used TELEPORT!

The air behind Morrigan, Urbosa, Medea - anyone standing over the source of the wet thump - rushed outward as a flash of energy heralded Deoxys emerging from seemingly nowhere. The alien stepped forward past them, sparing no time even to recognize their words as it scanned the premises, arcs of a deep violet energy crackling between its tentacles like electricity.

"Where are they. WHERE IS THE ENEMY?"

The pokemon sharply raised its voice, conjuring an unseen force that violently shook the room for a split second.

There was no enemy to be found. No psychic senses nor mortal senses could detect any fleeing being - supernatural or otherwise. Deoxys seemed to realize this without anyone needing to say so, as the pressure radiating from its body finally beginning to vanish when it laid eyes upon the corpse.

Another failure.

"Consider him safe," Ben approaches Origin so that he could keep a closer eye on it. "So this is one of the Great Spirits huh, like the bird dude? They don't look related..."

Deoxys appears next to him.

"Oh, hey Deoxys," Ben casually greets with a grin.

Frank turned around to see the great spirit dead at his feet. "...Well shit. My bad."

"You mean...that was all a setup?!" As if an outburst reaction to having failed, Lancer ripped his spear from the corpse and hurled it at the spirit, not bothering to invoke his Noble Phantasm.

"What the-"

Ben was astonished as he attempted to swiftly move into action, but it was too late. Origin turned into nothingness amd there was nothing that could be done.

"I... I... I could've sensed him or even fought him as Ghostfreak, or even... or..."

Ben shook his shock away, then turned to Schala with a sad expression.

"I'm sorry..."

He looks back towards the former spot of Origin, eyes filled with fire.

"... but I'll make it right. We now know what the Revanchist is capable of, so we'll be better prepared for their next moves...

... we have to push on, or I imagine his brothers and sisters will share this fate. What we couldn't do for him, we will do for them."

Deoxys narrowed its eyes at Castle, seemingly aware of his implication and unamused by it.

"Ben copied my genetic sequence and became a deoxys during the battle. I was ensuring that the copy was not permanent. When the battle was over... I wish to ensure that there is only one deoxys, even if Ben did perform well."

The pokemon's words were heavy with intent. Was it jealous of Ben? No one can know, as Deoxys' piercing glare told no stories other than a strong distaste for Castle at the moment.

"If there is nothing else, I will go and--"

Thump.

"Dead and gone fella," Castle replied to the Pokemon. "Was just a little going away present with a huge payoff...for the bad guys that is." He probably shouldn't be joking right now but considering the situation. "There's a couple of those Great Spirits left right? Just don't let those get offed and we're set!"

Schala Zeal

As she went around, healing those that she could... Schala felt something.

A chill that caused the hairs on the back of her neck to stand up.

Was it a premonition? A gut feeling? Whatever it was made her suddenly stop what she was doing, suddenly making a break for Origin, just in time to see him get impaled by a spirit... Before Morrigan put it to an end.

"No... No! I... I should have... I could have-...!" She shouted, anguish filling her voice.

Tears welled up in her eyes... Soon streaming down her face as she collapsed to her knees, the memory of Artorius pushing her aside with a black mass... And slaying the great spirit Verius.

She was powerless then to stop what would ultimately happen, but here... She just missed something.

A small detail that could have meant life or death for Origin.

All she had accomplished by rushing here, was getting there just in time to witness the great spirit's end.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."

She continued on like this for some time... Seeming to have tuned out her surroundings for a short while, the full weight of her perceived failure practically crushing her... Even as she reached out to grasp the space Origin once occupied, as if somehow she could bring him back...

Will's eyes widened and she cursed herself for not reacting in time. In anger she summoned a large violet bolt of Quintessence and flung it at the far wall, obliterating the structure completely and turning the wall into charred ash.

"Are you FUCKING SERIOUS!?"

Another bolt crashed into another wall, shattering it as well. Will cursed herself. She cursed her friends. She cursed whatever god was watching up there. How could she be so blind? Anders probably had the assassin waiting behind the curtain and she just let him waltz up and kill another Spirit. Her entire skillset revolved around magic and Aether. She should have seen him coming, but didn't because her guard was down.

"How could none of us see him coming!?"

She prayed Himerish or The Council wasn't watching. Will rarely did such a poor job as Keeper, but after this she seriously considered handing The Heart back and giving up entirely. Would it have been any different if her old friends were here? Will growled softly and stormed off, pissed beyond words and needing time to cooldown.

"Well I mean..."

"You kind of opened the door for him. Not pointing fingers or anything, but if I see a door that's open I'm walking through it."

Dorian nodded and pulled Connor in close, resting his head against Dorian's chest. "Then I sincerely hope I am not a fool for allowing you to join me. I'm afraid you might be my biggest weakness yet, amatus."

@Lucky

Meira let out a long, heavy sigh. She leaned against the wall and waited, knowing there was nothing for her to add to the moment.

Morrigan was silent for a long moment as she let the others' despair wash over her. She closed her eyes. "'Twas not something we could have sensed easily," she said, her voice grim. "Spirits possessing hosts is not uncommon in Thedas, but 'tis rare for the host to still be in control of their body... In this manner, the spirit's presence is hidden. His presence remained hidden after the mage's death, just long enough for him to..." Morrigan shook her head.

"Even I could have sensed it if I had only not underestimated this apostate."

Connor Walsh

Connor wouldn't resist and would let him pull him close, resting his head on his chest. Eat your heart out, Old man Logan. This one was his. " Don't we all do foolish things when we're in love? I'll make sure to not be a weakness then," He simply asked in response. It was a good thing Dorian didn't know about movies in his world.

❝ ... shit. ❞ After all that work, Majima saw it all undermined by a sneaky setup made by their enemy. Oh he was frustrated. He was heavily tempted to go after that spectre that did this, but he barely restrained himself. He didn't need to expend more of his demonic powers here, especially when he's nearing the cap of controlling himself and preventing from attacking his own allies in a power-drunken frenzy.

So he leaned against a wall, sloppily slipping out one of those special syringes that the Witch of Miracles gave him. Better safe than sorry that he go injecting himself with this magical medicine before he really does lose control of his demon side.

❝ Welp, this blows... not what I was expecting in my first serious venture into saving the multiverse... but anything else we can do right now? I reckon we don't got the time to be moping around about a single dead Great Spirit when we got more in loads of danger. ❞ He knew that sitting around and being silent wasn't gonna help anyone here, so he had to ask about this before he went ahead to inject the syringe into the side of his arm. A moment of him flinching at the injection but he forced himself to stay calm when doing so.

Quentin gave a small smile at Wade, pink flushing his cheeks slightly as he was set down. He then scanned his own bloody frame, a look of disgust appearing on his face. The sting of injuries soon reminding him of his position, watching as the others run towards the castle. He limped as quickly as possible to catch up.

"Wait for me!" Quentin said meekly.

Blitzcrank, too, was very disappointed in himself. His entire purpose was to help others, and one of the main objectives of this mission was to protect the spirit. Its death would no doubt result in grave ramifications in the near future. This guilt only gave him more reason to serve the Coalition and its related forces.
Will's eyes widened and she cursed herself for not reacting in time. In anger she summoned a large violet bolt of Quintessence and flung it at the far wall, obliterating the structure completely and turning the wall into charred ash.

The steam golem couldn't understand the destruction that came from Will's anger, however. He was upset about the failed mission, but there was no purpose in destroying something because of it. He marched over to the destroyed walls and picked up its ashes before setting it back down on the ground, deeming it irreparable. "WHY DID SHE DESTROY THIS?" he asked to nobody in particular.

He would then trudge over to Carissa, who had just stood up from Ren after a while of contact, something Blitz found strange but would never understand. "IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH BUILDING REPAIRS, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP," he said, mainly looking for something to do instead of standing around and wallowing in obsolescence.
