The rest of the team appeared to be having better luck. Jianyu's vine held true, and her swift reflexes allowed her to reach both Terry and Xianyu before they careened over the edge of the cliff. But Fate is rarely kind to noble souls. Just as the three fighters flung themselves over the staff, the speed and ferocity of the raging water seemed to increase rapidly, its cold tongue cutting deep into the skin of everyone in the water.

"Can't---hold---on!"
Terry cried, he body pulled horizontal by the rapid flow. Even his environment suit couldn't save him from the cold sting. He doubted the Dolls were faring much better. Redoubling he efforts, he threw his elbows over the bar, gritted his teeth and shut high eyes tightly. Through chattering teeth, he began to groan, the strain of his injuries gradually growing too much for him to bear. Behind him, the water began to take on a vibrant crimson hue as the wound Hex had inflicted upon his were pummeled again and again.

Isabeu and Nezumi found find that the power of the rushing water too strong for only two champions to hold back. Once the three waterfall-bound fighter threw themselves over the staff, they would find the ground beneath their feet slowly give way, dragging them further and further along the river bank. The tighter they held the vine, the more their fingers seemed to burn. It was almost as if there was more to the vine than met the eye.

Despite her speed and strength, the sudden change in water-speed was enough to catch Kara off guard, causing her first fly-by to miss Xianyu. Instead, her first dip into the stream had left her with nothing more than a handful of water reeds and sea weeds, which seemed to rapidly wrap themselves around her wrists. By the seconds, the grip of the reeds grew strong and stronger, constricting her movements more and more. Before she knew it, her arm had been pulled beneath the waves by some seemingly un-tearable plant matter. With each passing moment, Kara found herself sinking deeper and deeper, until her passanger, Hyakkimaru, could feel the waves licking his own skin. Kara and Hyakkimaru were in a bind in every sense of the word.

Even that blonde girl, who had powers that resembled Superboy's was pitching in, while still trying to save a literally disarmed man. It almost made him jealous, as this whole scene reminded him of the very values the Guardian Council had sought to rid their members of. They were supposed to make hard decisions no matter what the cost, no matter how much blood had to be spilled.

And while he had never officially graduated before he had been imprisoned for his actions, some of these teachings never did leave him. No, instead they paved the way for his ruthless actions as the new "Elf Prince".

Revenge...

All he wanted now, was revenge for those that took Layra from him. Those that ruthlessly persecuted her and her family despite what they had done for Cielis.

But right now, his only goal was to survive. And the way he saw it, it wouldn't matter if he helped those at the river or not, but hey... This could very well be an opportunity to do away with some of the competition, right?

"So many targets... All in one place. I could finish this so easily..." He said, leering towards the display at the river.

His stone shone with blue light as he contemplated it, but then shrugged, turning towards Beetle, then Superboy (although the latter was probably still reeling from their encounter).

"So. What do you think? Should we save them? Or dispose of them?" He asked.

It didn't seem like Max felt strongly for either option, but it was a little strange that someone as cold and calculating as he was would even offer a choice to his companions.

"Not gonna lie, big guy, this would be a pretty great chance to get ahead in the game... " The Kryptonian-Clone groaned, clutching his side and slowly straightening out his back. Leaning on a tree, he caught his breath and cracked his neck. "My powers are slowly coming back to me now. Slowly. We've got an advantage though, so we should be fine, right? Besides. You both T.K.O'd me, so Kara should be easy pickin's. Plus she's literally fighting with one arm tied behind her back!" He broke into a half laugh half cough. "But it's up to you what we do now. It would be super easy to cut that vine with some heat-vision or a laser and send those Ninjas own flying down the river. Or we could give Kara a quick dunk. Whatever Arcade's put into the water, I doubt a Kryptony-Argony-whatever-she-is could handle a couple of lungs worth of it. Oh, and hey! One of them is just unconscious by a tree! We could throw her into the river without being seen if we play our cards right, powers or no powers. Or we could all play happy families and help them pull that rope in. But like I said. It's up to you."

"You're right," Scott nodded, gingerly placing his toes onto the ice-road. "I don't plan on finding out what Arcade has got waiting for us at the edge of that Horizon. Lead the way, Loa."

After cautiously making their way across the ice road for an hour or two, Scott came to a complete stop. Throwing his fist in the air to signal to the rest of his party to slow down, he squinted his eyes from beneath his visor. There was movement. Something glistened on a nearby cliffside.

"Ladies and gentlemen, looks like we've got some company--DAMN!! EVERYONE! GET DOW---"

Robin Hood fired, using Megidola on the distant group, sending rays of almighty light crashing down towards them.

Shazam-" Billy would turn into his alter ego and tackle the persona Robin Hood to the ground so that the aim of the persona would be impaired and the group was not attacked. Despite Shazam's best efforts the Megidola's blast radius was too great to be disrupted by the Captain's tackle. The column of light that sprang forth tumbled forth towards the ice-path and unleashed a mighty explosion, shattering the ground around the Red Team and engulfing the region in smoke and icy, rushing waves. In an instant, the team was scattered, throw into the freezing waves of the icy tundra. With mere moments for foresight at his disposal, Cyclops fired a mighty beam of his own towards his distant attackers-- a Mega-Optic Blast. Tearing his visor from his face and unleashing the full power of his mutation, the concussive wave soared across the waves and into the heart of the White Team's territory. A mighty explosion brought Billy, Goro and their allies tumbling down towards the ice bridge. Despite Shazam's great speed, he too would be caught in the blast and sent tumbling down to what remained of the path.

The recoil of the blast was barely enough to push Scott from the blast zone and back onto a sturdy piece of ice. Acting on instinct, he grabbed Eli's staff and frantically fished the boy from the waters. Eagerly, he stretched the spear out even deeper into the crater, gesturing for Alice to take hold of the other end.

"Are we alright, Team! Someone talk to me damnit!" He pounded the ice, desperately waiting for more heads to surface. "Someone talk to me!"

"They're trying to fucking kill us!!" Eli screamed through his chattering teeth, the shock of the waves forcing him into a fury. He had been one of the lucky ones. He had managed to throw himself over a nearby ice chunk before the chill got to him. Kate hadn't been so lucky. Stunned by the blast, she had been pulled into the blue and beneath the ice, out of the reach of all who didn't want to risk being frozen alongside her. Perhaps one among them who could breath beneath the waves could aid her, had the blast not stunned Loa as well. "They're gonna kill us!!" Throwing himself back up onto the bridge, Eli scrambled to his feet, the droplets of water against his skin already freezing under the cold air. He wrapped his furs tightly around his person. Despite his best efforts, it wouldn't be long before the symptoms of pneumonia would begin to set in. He'd have to get his revenge, and fast.

Staying slow and striking fast, Eli sprinted across what remained of the bridge, the point of a stolen arrow stretched out before him. With a warriors scream, he lunged forward towards the disoriented Goro, seeking to strike him in the throat with a piece of sharpened metal, a murderous glare in his eyes.

"I'm gonna kill you, you masked freak! I'm gonna skin you like this bloody bear!!"

Henry took a deep breath and looked at the area and saw his team fighting. That being said, if this shadows were coming from above, they needed to fall back. It was the only choice of action, especially if this was an ambush like he suspected. " Haru, Cho and Ratchet, we need to fall back. I don't know how long these things will stay up, but between the stalactites and the shadows, we don't have much of a choice in the matter," he said, making a retreat to away from the damage area and even further back, making sure to shoot at the unversed and what was going to make sure that they all survived with little damage.

"You'll get no arguments from me, Amigo--" Amadeus saluted, skipping from stalactite to stalactite with flawless leaps until he sat firmly in the center of the sand river. "Well, that's not entirely true. But, hate to say, but this bif-ol' brain of my is suggesting a different strategy, my guy--" He said with a smirk. Flicking his with a theatrical air, Amadeus rolled up his sleeve, revealing a large metalic band attached to his wrist. "You know, part of me really wanted to show this thing off at just the right time, but I missed out on some much needed brain-food this morning..." A green light began to leak from his armband, pulsing with each passing moment. Within seconds it had consumed his body, with emerald blood coursing through his veins. His jaw tightened. His muscles popped. Cho transformed. He growled, now more beast than man.

Pounding the stalactite at his feast with one mighty fist and catching a large javelin of sandstone shrapnel with the other, Cho-Hulk slowly leaned back, tightening his focus. The trajectory calculation would be child's play."

"Sorry, bro. But you caught me on a real bad day. But hey, I've been itching to play giant-monster-darts all week!!" With a mighty trust of his arm, the stone spear soared forth, striking on of the Unversed right between the eyes. "Boo-yah, baby! That what you get for messing with this mean green, smashing machine!"

"Sweet work dudes, keep up that cardio" Cho teased, throwing a thumbs up towards his brothers on the Purple Team. "Status Report on this one's ass: Kicked"

There were so many ways he could start this off, and he so wanted to see these guys struggle. As if to paint the signs of uncertainty into their minds, the masked boy let the powered up Unversed take the spotlight first.

While the smaller Unversed, which he called Floods, were meant for scouting purposes, Vanitas saw it fitting to let these Unversed, the Scrappers, loose to ambush the Purple Team. Without giving away their vantage point, the masked boy easily brought these manic Unversed to life, spawning them near the Purple Team. Without a doubt, these Scrapper Unversed scrambled towards them, wanting to claw at their prey. For now, Vanitas only spawned three of these, since he wanted to convserve energy for his contribution on the fight.

With the possible chaos to sprout from the sudden intrusion of the Unversed, Vanitas cloaked himself in darkness, and looking over at Mantis as if to signify that they might as well get the drop of them and bank in on this small window of opportunity. Similar to the Flood Unversed, he sunk into the ground with a pool of shadow to mark where he was. That lone pool of shadowy darkness crept closer to where the Unversed were ambushing the Purple Team.

Without speaking, Mantis seemed to understand Vanitas' suggestion. It would be a fun little game. And oh boy, did Mantis love games. With a wave of his hand, the darkness within the Unversed grew and grew. Once pinned to the cave wall by Hulk's spear, the first Unversed found the strength to pull itself free and recover from its injuries, black smoke replacing any damaged tissue. The creature lunged forth and struck back at Cho- just as it had done before- its claws cutting deep into Cho's larger, greener arms.

"Aw Crap-- this was not supposed to happen-- got new factors to consider-- got new things to smash!"

With a swing of his mighty fist, Hulk beheaded to Unversed, turning its severed head to dust with a single strike. With a wave of his hand, the Unversed recovered, striking Cho again. Cho barely dodged the second attack.

"A jeez okay..."

Grabbing the creature's arm in a swift counter, Hulk threw the creature back across the sand river and directly into one of its brothers, before retreating further across the river.

"Gotta get some time to think-- gotta think-think-think-gotta-get-some-brain-food-and-think--"

Turning back to Vanitas' black pool, Mantis nodded again, as if seeking approval. Hidden to all but the Masked-Boy, Tretij waved another invisible hand, raising the regenerative powers of the creatures further.

Loa was going to ask what Mr Summers was shouting about but it had been too late. The ensuing blast knocked her right into the water and even ringed her clock quite a bit. The amulet around her neck protected her from the worst of the cold but she still felt some it and it was the cold that allowed her to wake up and quickly swim up to the surfaces.

"What happened?" She looked up at Cyclops. "Anyone else in the water? How can I help?" She knew the longer she was in the water not doing anything the more the chaos would unfold.

Billy Batson/ Shazam

Billy was so busy arguing that he hadn't considered that the column of light wasn't going to be deterred from hitting the ground and he wasn't happy about it. God, everything was going so terribly wrong and he didn't like it. The last time things had gone this far south for him was when he had..... been fighting Sivana and he had tried to kill him by.... oh god, he hadn't thought about that in a long time. He was still terrified of dying, even when he was in his shazam form, especially when he was in it. There was something about being so distracted that he didn't notice the way that he had been caught in the blast radius of a second attack and he had been sent tumbling down the hill. He would be one of the first to regain his balance and at this point, he was happy about him not having advance senses that would fuck him over with that. Sure, he was ringing, but it didn't hurt him... probably thanks to his invunerabilty. He had been set on fire and been fine.

The group was a lot larger than there of three and he knew that he didn't want to fight them. But with Goro being an idiot, he knew that he had to figure out how to help the rest of them without being in danger. There were so many ways that he could see it going wrong and he didn't want to admit that aloud though.

Maybe it was because he had been focused or the fact that there wasn't as a great of a distance, he would be able to tell that one of those voices belonged to their lost team member. God, he fucking hated Goro now.

Billy didn't know how to respond to that, as Eli was right, though it wasn't a they situation. It was Goro and he wished he could show that he was on their.... wait, the blast seemed to have knocked one of them under and she hadn't come up. God, this was a stupid idea. God, if Freddy was here or Mary or any of his siblings, they would tell him that it was a terrible idea. But he didn't care. Using his super fast speed, flight and hoping his invunerabilty was enough to ward off the cold for long up, he would dive into the water where he was sure that the other woman had fallen and would try to see if he could grab her. God, Arcade was probably enjoying this, watching as Billy would fail. But he couldn't think of that or the fact that the last time he was submerged in water, he had been against his will and had nearly drowned. Don't think about that- just focus on saving this person. Focus on the now.

Billy wasn't sure what was going on above ground and he hadn't exactly given his team directions- but he hoped that he hadn't made a mistake. What would it matter though if he died? It didn't. He knew that nobody here deserved to die.... not for Arcade's game- not for this battle royale. Not ever again.

Come on, find the girl, get out and bring her back. I can do this.... I have to do this.

Terry cried, he body pulled horizontal by the rapid flow. Even his environment suit couldn't save him from the cold sting. He doubted the Dolls were faring much better. Redoubling he efforts, he threw his elbows over the bar, gritted his teeth and shut high eyes tightly. Through chattering teeth, he began to groan, the strain of his injuries gradually growing too much for him to bear. Behind him, the water began to take on a vibrant crimson hue as the wound Hex had inflicted upon his were pummeled again and again.

Isabeu and Nezumi found find that the power of the rushing water too strong for only two champions to hold back. Once the three waterfall-bound fighter threw themselves over the staff, they would find the ground beneath their feet slowly give way, dragging them further and further along the river bank. The tighter they held the vine, the more their fingers seemed to burn. It was almost as if there was more to the vine than met the eye.

Despite her speed and strength, the sudden change in water-speed was enough to catch Kara off guard, causing her first fly-by to miss Xianyu. Instead, her first dip into the stream had left her with nothing more than a handful of water reeds and sea weeds, which seemed to rapidly wrap themselves around her wrists. By the seconds, the grip of the reeds grew strong and stronger, constricting her movements more and more. Before she knew it, her arm had been pulled beneath the waves by some seemingly un-tearable plant matter. With each passing moment, Kara found herself sinking deeper and deeper, until her passanger, Hyakkimaru, could feel the waves licking his own skin. Kara and Hyakkimaru were in a bind in every sense of the word.

You both T.K.O'd me, so Kara should be easy pickin's. Plus she's literally fighting with one arm tied behind her back!" He broke into a half laugh half cough. "But it's up to you what we do now. It would be super easy to cut that vine with some heat-vision or a laser and send those Ninjas own flying down the river. Or we could give Kara a quick dunk. Whatever Arcade's put into the water, I doubt a Kryptony-Argony-whatever-she-is could handle a couple of lungs worth of it. Oh, and hey! One of them is just unconscious by a tree! We could throw her into the river without being seen if we play our cards right, powers or no powers. Or we could all play happy families and help them pull that rope in. But like I said. It's up to you."

After cautiously making their way across the ice road for an hour or two, Scott came to a complete stop. Throwing his fist in the air to signal to the rest of his party to slow down, he squinted his eyes from beneath his visor. There was movement. Something glistened on a nearby cliffside.

Despite Shazam's best efforts the Megidola's blast radius was too great to be disrupted by the Captain's tackle. The column of light that sprang forth tumbled forth towards the ice-path and unleashed a mighty explosion, shattering the ground around the Red Team and engulfing the region in smoke and icy, rushing waves. In an instant, the team was scattered, throw into the freezing waves of the icy tundra. With mere moments for foresight at his disposal, Cyclops fired a mighty beam of his own towards his distant attackers-- a Mega-Optic Blast. Tearing his visor from his face and unleashing the full power of his mutation, the concussive wave soared across the waves and into the heart of the White Team's territory. A mighty explosion brought Billy, Goro and their allies tumbling down towards the ice bridge. Despite Shazam's great speed, he too would be caught in the blast and sent tumbling down to what remained of the path.

The recoil of the blast was barely enough to push Scott from the blast zone and back onto a sturdy piece of ice. Acting on instinct, he grabbed Eli's staff and frantically fished the boy from the waters. Eagerly, he stretched the spear out even deeper into the crater, gesturing for Alice to take hold of the other end.

"Are we alright, Team! Someone talk to me damnit!" He pounded the ice, desperately waiting for more heads to surface. "Someone talk to me!"

"They're trying to fucking kill us!!" Eli screamed through his chattering teeth, the shock of the waves forcing him into a fury. He had been one of the lucky ones. He had managed to throw himself over a nearby ice chunk before the chill got to him. Kate hadn't been so lucky. Stunned by the blast, she had been pulled into the blue and beneath the ice, out of the reach of all who didn't want to risk being frozen alongside her. Perhaps one among them who could breath beneath the waves could aid her, had the blast not stunned Loa as well. "They're gonna kill us!!" Throwing himself back up onto the bridge, Eli scrambled to his feet, the droplets of water against his skin already freezing under the cold air. He wrapped his furs tightly around his person. Despite his best efforts, it wouldn't be long before the symptoms of pneumonia would begin to set in. He'd have to get his revenge, and fast.

Staying slow and striking fast, Eli sprinted across what remained of the bridge, the point of a stolen arrow stretched out before him. With a warriors scream, he lunged forward towards the disoriented Goro, seeking to strike him in the throat with a piece of sharpened metal, a murderous glare in his eyes.

"I'm gonna kill you, you masked freak! I'm gonna skin you like this bloody bear!!"

"You'll get no arguments from me, Amigo--" Amadeus saluted, skipping from stalactite to stalactite with flawless leaps until he sat firmly in the center of the sand river. "Well, that's not entirely true. But, hate to say, but this bif-ol' brain of my is suggesting a different strategy, my guy--" He said with a smirk. Flicking his with a theatrical air, Amadeus rolled up his sleeve, revealing a large metalic band attached to his wrist. "You know, part of me really wanted to show this thing off at just the right time, but I missed out on some much needed brain-food this morning..." A green light began to leak from his armband, pulsing with each passing moment. Within seconds it had consumed his body, with emerald blood coursing through his veins. His jaw tightened. His muscles popped. Cho transformed. He growled, now more beast than man.

Pounding the stalactite at his feast with one mighty fist and catching a large javelin of sandstone shrapnel with the other, Cho-Hulk slowly leaned back, tightening his focus. The trajectory calculation would be child's play."

With a mighty trust of his arm, the stone spear soared forth, striking on of the Unversed right between the eyes. "Boo-yah, baby! "Sweet work dudes, keep up that cardio" Cho teased, throwing a thumbs up towards his brothers on the Purple Team. "Status Report on this one's ass: Kicked"

Without speaking, Mantis seemed to understand Vanitas' suggestion. It would be a fun little game. And oh boy, did Mantis love games. With a wave of his hand, the darkness within the Unversed grew and grew. Once pinned to the cave wall by Hulk's spear, the first Unversed found the strength to pull itself free and recover from its injuries, black smoke replacing any damaged tissue. The creature lunged forth and struck back at Cho- just as it had done before- its claws cutting deep into Cho's larger, greener arms.

"Aw Crap-- this was not supposed to happen-- got new factors to consider-- got new things to smash!"

With a swing of his mighty fist, Hulk beheaded to Unversed, turning its severed head to dust with a single strike. With a wave of his hand, the Unversed recovered, striking Cho again. Cho barely dodged the second attack.

"A jeez okay..."

Grabbing the creature's arm in a swift counter, Hulk threw the creature back across the sand river and directly into one of its brothers, before retreating further across the river.

"Gotta get some time to think-- gotta think-think-think-gotta-get-some-brain-food-and-think--"

Turning back to Vanitas' black pool, Mantis nodded again, as if seeking approval. Hidden to all but the Masked-Boy, Tretij waved another invisible hand, raising the regenerative powers of the creatures further.

"We've been spotted by another group alread-" she started, before startling at the light arrow coming their way, and fast.

"Shit!" Alice hissed upon Scott's warning, barely having time to duck out of the way before freezing cold water hit her.

Luckily, Scott quickly came to her aid she sputtered when she was out of the water. She ws pissed, cold, and feeling colder by the second.

"Thanks." She huffed out tiredly, but gratefully, as she wrapped her arms and the fur pelt around her tight to try and conserve heat.

"H-Hold on...!" Janyu began pulling her staff in while also trying to get back to shore. "Hurry! PULL US IN!!!!"

For her part, Xiayu grasped the staff with both hands, breathing hard as she attempted to help Terry however she could. He was bleeding so much and the water would only make it worse at this point. If they could just reach Steven, then maybe there was a chance...!

Using his super fast speed, flight and hoping his invunerabilty was enough to ward off the cold for long up, he would dive into the water where he was sure that the other woman had fallen and would try to see if he could grab her. God, Arcade was probably enjoying this, watching as Billy would fail. But he couldn't think of that or the fact that the last time he was submerged in water, he had been against his will and had nearly drowned. Don't think about that- just focus on saving this person. Focus on the now.

Billy wasn't sure what was going on above ground and he hadn't exactly given his team directions- but he hoped that he hadn't made a mistake. What would it matter though if he died? It didn't. He knew that nobody here deserved to die.... not for Arcade's game- not for this battle royale. Not ever again.

"Don't you dare touch her!" The X-Men screamed, unleashing another full-power optic blast towards Batson, seeking to blast him deeper below the ice than his lungs could take him. Propelled by a warrior's instinct, Scott's mind dared not turn to philosophy or faith. He was a man of action. An optic blasts always screamed louder than words, after all.

Blinded by the fog of war, Scott either didn't realize or didn't care which team had launched an attack on his own adopted tribe. He was far too focused on protecting his own. His battle-instinct consumed him.

The deeper Billy and Loa dived, the more difficult it became for the two to see. At the very edge of their vision, they could still just barely make out the fading form of Kate as she peacefully drifted bellow the faces, just out of reach not matter how fast they swam. Yet as they continued to make ground- or make sea, as the case might be- Billy would find a sudden striking pain in his lungs. It appeared as if being able to breathe in space wasn't enough to help him breathe in Arcade's water. Loa, on the other hand, still had the benefit of her Atlantian amulet to keep her breathing underwater. By his own calculations, Billy could only remain underwater for another minute before being forced up for air.

Perhaps it was a trick of the eye, but out into the depths of the ocean, something stirred. Just along the horizon. Something large, dark and fast. From beneath the waves, Loa and Billy would still be able to make out its mighty cry. Something was heading towards them. Something nasty.

The more Nezumi stared at the vine, the more it seemed to change, evolving under the strain of the situation. It slowly began to turn within his grip, writhing and releasing a new acidic coating. Barbs slowly began to sprout from its flesh, taking upon the appearance of dozens of tiny teeth. Ultimately, Nezumi and Isabeu were met with a tough choice- releasing the rope to save themselves, or hold strong despite the pull of the stream and the burn of the vine, and thus risk injuries that might stay with them for the duration of the week regardless of whether or not they could save Terry and the Dolls.

Billy Batson/ Shazam

Billy had been able to hear that before he was fully submerged and he would address the fact that everyone here was a raging idiot after he saved Kate or died trying. God, he was going to die, trying, wasn't he? This was a huge gambit and for that matter, one he wasn't entirely certain was going to work. Perhaps there was a certain part of him that wanted to die.

He didn't like to acknowledge it often, but there was a part of him that wanted to die if he hadn't gotten that phone call from Sivana about saving his family. His plan had been to jump off that roof and kill himself. But one call changed that. One simple phone call. He narrowly dodged out of the way of the blast and dove in. But, Billy forgot something rather important about his Shazam form....His chest was constantly generating electricity from the lightning bolt ensigna on his chest....and electricity is a conductor of water.

Billy wondered what was so different about this water that made it so he didn't have long. Freddy had actually been the one to equate his powers to Greek and Roman Mythology and a touch of Christianity after being in the cave.... well, more that he had found the writing that the wizard had literally carved above the thrones. S for the wisdom of Solomon ( which loved to take vacation days) H for the strength of Hercules, A for the Stamina of Atlas, Z for the power of Zeus, A for the courage of Achilles, M for the speed of Mercury. So, yes, it was bugging him greatly that he only had a minute despite the invulnerability and speed making it hard to cover ground. But he would make the most of that minute.... he had too.

God, he had to warn the others that something was coming- but on the other hand, if he did that- he likely would receive a face full of laser. God, he needed to figure out a plan and fast. He couldn't use his electricity.... well, not underwater at least. Flight, Wisdom, super stamina. He just gunned it as fast as he could for Kate, ignoring the beast for now. Someone was going to die... he just wasn't sure who.

This was bad. This was really bad. Even without sight, Hyakkimaru was able to tell from the feeling of rushing water assaulting them and the distant soul signatures of everyone else, this river was a huge problem for just about everyone. Something was constricting Kara from moving, which was resulting with him being in a dangerous spot concerning this rush of water. Taking a shot in the dark, he swung his arm blades at what he figured to be the constricting factors that was holding Kara down.

With the Unversed serving their purpose well along with Mantis's help, the rogue keyblade wielder found a perfect spot to make his appearance and join the fray. Right at the mere moment that one of them would suggest moving away from the chaos, Vanitas's voice boastfully leered at them.

❝ Too late. ❞

Taking into account the placement of his Unversed, Vanitas leapt out of his pool of darkness in a position where the Purple Team would be surrounded. Before he would land, the masked boy swung his keyblade in a wide arc, sending a Dark Thundaga spell their way while the powered-up Scrapper Unversed engaged with a feral need to tear their claws into their targets. Regardless of whether or not the thunder spell hit them, Vanitas didn't waste time to get into a fighting stance upon landing on his feet, keyblade raised with the intent to kill.

❝ Try all you want, but you lot just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. ❞ He awaited for what they planned to do, seeing no reason to rush in and attack when his Unversed filled in that role already. Nor did he want to put himself in a bad position and have to rely on his hidden comrade to back him up for a careless mistake.

Instead, her first dip into the stream had left her with nothing more than a handful of water reeds and sea weeds, which seemed to rapidly wrap themselves around her wrists. By the seconds, the grip of the reeds grew strong and stronger, constricting her movements more and more. Before she knew it, her arm had been pulled beneath the waves by some seemingly un-tearable plant matter. With each passing moment, Kara found herself sinking deeper and deeper, until her passanger, Hyakkimaru, could feel the waves licking his own skin. Kara and Hyakkimaru were in a bind in every sense of the word.

"Not gonna lie, big guy, this would be a pretty great chance to get ahead in the game... " The Kryptonian-Clone groaned, clutching his side and slowly straightening out his back. Leaning on a tree, he caught his breath and cracked his neck. "My powers are slowly coming back to me now. Slowly. We've got an advantage though, so we should be fine, right? Besides. You both T.K.O'd me, so Kara should be easy pickin's. Plus she's literally fighting with one arm tied behind her back!" He broke into a half laugh half cough. "But it's up to you what we do now. It would be super easy to cut that vine with some heat-vision or a laser and send those Ninjas own flying down the river. Or we could give Kara a quick dunk. Whatever Arcade's put into the water, I doubt a Kryptony-Argony-whatever-she-is could handle a couple of lungs worth of it. Oh, and hey! One of them is just unconscious by a tree! We could throw her into the river without being seen if we play our cards right, powers or no powers. Or we could all play happy families and help them pull that rope in. But like I said. It's up to you."

"You're right," Scott nodded, gingerly placing his toes onto the ice-road. "I don't plan on finding out what Arcade has got waiting for us at the edge of that Horizon. Lead the way, Loa."

After cautiously making their way across the ice road for an hour or two, Scott came to a complete stop. Throwing his fist in the air to signal to the rest of his party to slow down, he squinted his eyes from beneath his visor. There was movement. Something glistened on a nearby cliffside.

"Ladies and gentlemen, looks like we've got some company--DAMN!! EVERYONE! GET DOW---"

Despite Shazam's best efforts the Megidola's blast radius was too great to be disrupted by the Captain's tackle. The column of light that sprang forth tumbled forth towards the ice-path and unleashed a mighty explosion, shattering the ground around the Red Team and engulfing the region in smoke and icy, rushing waves. In an instant, the team was scattered, throw into the freezing waves of the icy tundra. With mere moments for foresight at his disposal, Cyclops fired a mighty beam of his own towards his distant attackers-- a Mega-Optic Blast. Tearing his visor from his face and unleashing the full power of his mutation, the concussive wave soared across the waves and into the heart of the White Team's territory. A mighty explosion brought Billy, Goro and their allies tumbling down towards the ice bridge. Despite Shazam's great speed, he too would be caught in the blast and sent tumbling down to what remained of the path.

The recoil of the blast was barely enough to push Scott from the blast zone and back onto a sturdy piece of ice. Acting on instinct, he grabbed Eli's staff and frantically fished the boy from the waters. Eagerly, he stretched the spear out even deeper into the crater, gesturing for Alice to take hold of the other end.

"Are we alright, Team! Someone talk to me damnit!" He pounded the ice, desperately waiting for more heads to surface. "Someone talk to me!"

"They're trying to fucking kill us!!" Eli screamed through his chattering teeth, the shock of the waves forcing him into a fury. He had been one of the lucky ones. He had managed to throw himself over a nearby ice chunk before the chill got to him. Kate hadn't been so lucky. Stunned by the blast, she had been pulled into the blue and beneath the ice, out of the reach of all who didn't want to risk being frozen alongside her. Perhaps one among them who could breath beneath the waves could aid her, had the blast not stunned Loa as well. "They're gonna kill us!!" Throwing himself back up onto the bridge, Eli scrambled to his feet, the droplets of water against his skin already freezing under the cold air. He wrapped his furs tightly around his person. Despite his best efforts, it wouldn't be long before the symptoms of pneumonia would begin to set in. He'd have to get his revenge, and fast.

Staying slow and striking fast, Eli sprinted across what remained of the bridge, the point of a stolen arrow stretched out before him. With a warriors scream, he lunged forward towards the disoriented Goro, seeking to strike him in the throat with a piece of sharpened metal, a murderous glare in his eyes.

"I'm gonna kill you, you masked freak! I'm gonna skin you like this bloody bear!!"

"You'll get no arguments from me, Amigo--" Amadeus saluted, skipping from stalactite to stalactite with flawless leaps until he sat firmly in the center of the sand river. "Well, that's not entirely true. But, hate to say, but this bif-ol' brain of my is suggesting a different strategy, my guy--" He said with a smirk. Flicking his with a theatrical air, Amadeus rolled up his sleeve, revealing a large metalic band attached to his wrist. "You know, part of me really wanted to show this thing off at just the right time, but I missed out on some much needed brain-food this morning..." A green light began to leak from his armband, pulsing with each passing moment. Within seconds it had consumed his body, with emerald blood coursing through his veins. His jaw tightened. His muscles popped. Cho transformed. He growled, now more beast than man.

Pounding the stalactite at his feast with one mighty fist and catching a large javelin of sandstone shrapnel with the other, Cho-Hulk slowly leaned back, tightening his focus. The trajectory calculation would be child's play."

"Sorry, bro. But you caught me on a real bad day. But hey, I've been itching to play giant-monster-darts all week!!" With a mighty trust of his arm, the stone spear soared forth, striking on of the Unversed right between the eyes. "Boo-yah, baby! That what you get for messing with this mean green, smashing machine!"

"Sweet work dudes, keep up that cardio" Cho teased, throwing a thumbs up towards his brothers on the Purple Team. "Status Report on this one's ass: Kicked"

Without speaking, Mantis seemed to understand Vanitas' suggestion. It would be a fun little game. And oh boy, did Mantis love games. With a wave of his hand, the darkness within the Unversed grew and grew. Once pinned to the cave wall by Hulk's spear, the first Unversed found the strength to pull itself free and recover from its injuries, black smoke replacing any damaged tissue. The creature lunged forth and struck back at Cho- just as it had done before- its claws cutting deep into Cho's larger, greener arms.

"Aw Crap-- this was not supposed to happen-- got new factors to consider-- got new things to smash!"

With a swing of his mighty fist, Hulk beheaded to Unversed, turning its severed head to dust with a single strike. With a wave of his hand, the Unversed recovered, striking Cho again. Cho barely dodged the second attack.

"A jeez okay..."

Grabbing the creature's arm in a swift counter, Hulk threw the creature back across the sand river and directly into one of its brothers, before retreating further across the river.

"Gotta get some time to think-- gotta think-think-think-gotta-get-some-brain-food-and-think--"

Turning back to Vanitas' black pool, Mantis nodded again, as if seeking approval. Hidden to all but the Masked-Boy, Tretij waved another invisible hand, raising the regenerative powers of the creatures further.

With the Unversed serving their purpose well along with Mantis's help, the rogue keyblade wielder found a perfect spot to make his appearance and join the fray. Right at the mere moment that one of them would suggest moving away from the chaos, Vanitas's voice boastfully leered at them.

❝ Too late. ❞

Taking into account the placement of his Unversed, Vanitas leapt out of his pool of darkness in a position where the Purple Team would be surrounded. Before he would land, the masked boy swung his keyblade in a wide arc, sending a Dark Thundaga spell their way while the powered-up Scrapper Unversed engaged with a feral need to tear their claws into their targets. Regardless of whether or not the thunder spell hit them, Vanitas didn't waste time to get into a fighting stance upon landing on his feet, keyblade raised with the intent to kill.

❝ Try all you want, but you lot just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. ❞ He awaited for what they planned to do, seeing no reason to rush in and attack when his Unversed filled in that role already. Nor did he want to put himself in a bad position and have to rely on his hidden comrade to back him up for a careless mistake.

Kara growled in frustration, attempting to throw the seaweed she had grabbed back into the water, only to discover that they were binding her in spite of her super strength.

"What the...? Hey! Let go of me! Stupid... Reeds!" She growled.

Unable to help the others for now due to the state she was in, Kara though quickly, deciding to try something risky.

"Alright! Wanna do this the hard way? Let's go!" She shouted, as a familiar red glow shone in her eyes.

With that, making sure she wouldn't hit Hyakkimaru in the process, as she began to use her heat vision to try and burn away at the reeds constricting her. Unknowingly though, she was leaving herself open for a surprise attack...

Max was eerily silent at first, his gaze darting from target to target. Though in the end, his attention seemed to Zero in on Kara, who was struggling to break herself free of those vines, concentrating with her heat vision.

With a smirk on his face, his stone suddenly shone, causing his metallic gloves to emit a bright, blue glow as he prepared to finish her off.

"I'm taking out their big gun. Right here... Right now." He said suddenly.

However, as both him and Kara were concentrating, there was at least a brief window of time to stop him before he blasted Kara with his stone magic.

If his encounter with Superboy had anything to say about it, he had a feeling the blast would be enough to knock her into the water.

No...no! Everything had gone so wrong. The vines were toxic...and oh God, Janyu had tied the damn thing around her waist. And Kara and Hyakkimaru were also in danger...there was really only one thing to do. To save as many lives as she could...Xiayu would need to use a gamble. It was dangerous, possibly fatal, but it had to be done.

"Janyu!" Xiayu called to her sister, who turned to look at her. "I...I love you! Don't forget that, whatever happens!"

"Xiayu, what are you-" Janyu started to speak, before her eyes widened at fhis sudden realization. "No! Don't you DARE!"

"It's all right. It may work. Just...stay strong if it doesn't. Okay?"

"Xiayu-!"

But it was too late. Xiayu let go of the staff, continuing to go towards the waterfall. If she was successful in her gamble, she would reach Kara and Hyakkimaru and could help them. If not, well...maybe the waterfall wouldn't hurt too much.

Propelled by a warrior's instinct, Scott's mind dared not turn to philosophy or faith. He was a man of action. An optic blasts always screamed louder than words, after all.

Blinded by the fog of war, Scott either didn't realize or didn't care which team had launched an attack on his own adopted tribe. He was far too focused on protecting his own. His battle-instinct consumed him.

The deeper Billy and Loa dived, the more difficult it became for the two to see. At the very edge of their vision, they could still just barely make out the fading form of Kate as she peacefully drifted bellow the faces, just out of reach not matter how fast they swam. Yet as they continued to make ground- or make sea, as the case might be- Billy would find a sudden striking pain in his lungs. It appeared as if being able to breathe in space wasn't enough to help him breathe in Arcade's water. Loa, on the other hand, still had the benefit of her Atlantian amulet to keep her breathing underwater. By his own calculations, Billy could only remain underwater for another minute before being forced up for air.

Perhaps it was a trick of the eye, but out into the depths of the ocean, something stirred. Just along the horizon. Something large, dark and fast. From beneath the waves, Loa and Billy would still be able to make out its mighty cry. Something was heading towards them. Something nasty.

The more Nezumi stared at the vine, the more it seemed to change, evolving under the strain of the situation. It slowly began to turn within his grip, writhing and releasing a new acidic coating. Barbs slowly began to sprout from its flesh, taking upon the appearance of dozens of tiny teeth. Ultimately, Nezumi and Isabeu were met with a tough choice- releasing the rope to save themselves, or hold strong despite the pull of the stream and the burn of the vine, and thus risk injuries that might stay with them for the duration of the week regardless of whether or not they could save Terry and the Dolls.

Billy had been able to hear that before he was fully submerged and he would address the fact that everyone here was a raging idiot after he saved Kate or died trying. God, he was going to die, trying, wasn't he? This was a huge gambit and for that matter, one he wasn't entirely certain was going to work. Perhaps there was a certain part of him that wanted to die.

He didn't like to acknowledge it often, but there was a part of him that wanted to die if he hadn't gotten that phone call from Sivana about saving his family. But, Billy forgot something rather important about his Shazam form....His chest was constantly generating electricity from the lightning bolt ensigna on his chest....and electricity is a conductor of water.

Lightning surged forth from Shazam's chest and engulfed the Ice Path in a vibrant white light the moment he touched with the water. The hints of kryptonite floating within the Murderworld Sea only helped the current travel further and further across the region, sparking and crackling across the bridge.

[CRACKLE] [CRACKLE] [CRACKLE]

[BOOM]

The pockets of air exploded beneath the ice. The bridge ruptured, shattering into smaller and smaller pieces. The waves leaped, glowed and danced. The Red and White teams were send flying.

Blessed with the speed of Mercury, Billy was fast enough to pull the raging battery within his chest away from the battle on the surface before the region's population was truly decimated. Yet, with Arcade's magic limiting the powers of the Game's Participants, we could not outrun the blast its. Thunder coursed through the waves.

[BOOM]

Lightning pierced the hearts of Loa and Kate, energy surging through every cell in their bodies. Within moments, all life was forced from their bodies. Sending them into a numb tailspin beneath the waves. Warmth flooded the region. The blinding lights soon began to fade.

"What happened...?" Scott murdered, scrambling to his feet and wiping a pool of warm water from his face. A striking pain overwhelmed his senses. He rushed over to one of the many new breaks in the bridge, staring down into the abyss. Through the blackness, he could make out two lifeless figures, drifting through the black. "My God..."

@Under the Ice: Shazam, Hakeye Loa and Hnikar

After the light from Billy's unwitting lighting blast died down, Shazam would find himself lost beneath the waves with two corpses drifting just beyond his reach. Deeper still, he would be able to make out the now conscious body of Hnikar, who's mastery of lighting had protected him from the thunder-bomb. Still, from the corner of his eye, he could make out a stirring figure. Just beyond the edges of his vision, he see that the creature was stalking him, circling him, having danced just outside of the blast radius. It was a clever girl for sure.

With 40 Seconds of Oxygen remaining, the two submerged champions would hear another muffled roar. The creature was merely moments away.

"Aw-Right! It main-event time! Time for the smack-down of the century!"

Exploiting the pseudo-Kryptonian's vulnerability to magic proved to be a fruitful strategy, with the blast of concentrated stone magic striking Kara between her shoulder blades. Following up Max's blast with a rapid sledge hammer punch of his own, Superboy's slowly rising strength gave the Stone Blast the slight push it needed to shatter Kara's guard completely tossing her and her passenger into the ravine.

However, with the vines binding Kara to the river-bed now severed, Kara would find herself able to swim without a broken wrist. The shock of hitting the water, combined with his injuries, would flood Hyakkimaru with an intense pain, leaving him even more vulnerable. This would worsen with the absence of his arms, which sat on the riverbank beside Isabeau and Nezumi. Unlike the Dolls and the Batman, the River's two more recent residents still had a fair amount of time to react in before being washed over the bridge of the waterfall.

The desperate howls of the struggle downstream and the flashing lights of Max's most recent attack would be enough to gradually reawaken Weapon Hex, who would find the affects of the Trigger Hexed Trigger scent now subsiding. Separated from her party, she would find herself met with a choice-- follow the sounds of the struggle or retreat further into the jungle.

"No!" Terry cried. "Xianyu! D-D-DON'T!!"

Helpless and reeling in pain, Terry could only watch as Xianyu's body was sent tumbling downstream and out of sight, having been taken by the will of the waves. With Hyakkimaru and Kara preoccupied by Max and Conner's assault, they would find themselves unable to help the Doll as tongues of white water lashed at her skin. Tossed around like a Doll, she soon faded from sight. Anything she had been trying to say was lost to the roar of the waterfall.

Even whilst enduring the toxic sting of the vine, Isabeau and Nezumi would find the strength to pull the Jianyu and Terry from the ravine. Battered, bruised, and lashed, the last remaining Doll would surface relatively unharmed. Terry's injuries remained grave, his already grave injuries having been mode severe by the beating.

"She could still be out there... she could be okay---she could be---NO!!"

Hnikar's eyes opened wide, his cheeks puffing to contain the air he was breathing. The thunder god was limited by factors, including time, and someone from the enemy team - the one known as Shazam - was right in front of him.

And what did he do?

He waved at Shazam as his legs waddled towards him, tiny sparks of electricity combined with the water conducting it beneath his feet allowing him to propel himself forward.

Just then, he noted the roar. Wielding his spear under the waters, he looked left and right. Dangerous beasts of the seas were present, but what kind? Archelon? Killer Whale? Perhaps the legendary Leviathan?

When someone you love dies, there are many ways to react. You can scream, you can cry, you can disbelieve it. Or, you can be completely and utterly numb. As one Doll became a lifeless corpse, it appeared the other had become the same; Jianyu was lifted from the river practically unmoving, eyes staring off into space.

The fire that had erupted yesterday, when Xiayu had been poised to die in a duel with the Flash, was put out, leaving nothing but cold. The girl who went down thinking of others, putting them before herself. And Jianyu was left alone. The selfish, bratty little sister who cared for nothing but herself and her sister. And now that Xiayu was gone...what was left?

Well, she could scream. She could cry. She could disbelieve it. But instead, she turned her head towards Terry.

"...You said the Orange Team did this?"

"Don't you dare touch her!" The X-Men screamed, unleashing another full-power optic blast towards Batson, seeking to blast him deeper below the ice than his lungs could take him. Propelled by a warrior's instinct, Scott's mind dared not turn to philosophy or faith. He was a man of action. An optic blasts always screamed louder than words, after all.

Blinded by the fog of war, Scott either didn't realize or didn't care which team had launched an attack on his own adopted tribe. He was far too focused on protecting his own. His battle-instinct consumed him.

The deeper Billy and Loa dived, the more difficult it became for the two to see. At the very edge of their vision, they could still just barely make out the fading form of Kate as she peacefully drifted bellow the faces, just out of reach not matter how fast they swam. Yet as they continued to make ground- or make sea, as the case might be- Billy would find a sudden striking pain in his lungs. It appeared as if being able to breathe in space wasn't enough to help him breathe in Arcade's water. Loa, on the other hand, still had the benefit of her Atlantian amulet to keep her breathing underwater. By his own calculations, Billy could only remain underwater for another minute before being forced up for air.

Perhaps it was a trick of the eye, but out into the depths of the ocean, something stirred. Just along the horizon. Something large, dark and fast. From beneath the waves, Loa and Billy would still be able to make out its mighty cry. Something was heading towards them. Something nasty.

The more Nezumi stared at the vine, the more it seemed to change, evolving under the strain of the situation. It slowly began to turn within his grip, writhing and releasing a new acidic coating. Barbs slowly began to sprout from its flesh, taking upon the appearance of dozens of tiny teeth. Ultimately, Nezumi and Isabeu were met with a tough choice- releasing the rope to save themselves, or hold strong despite the pull of the stream and the burn of the vine, and thus risk injuries that might stay with them for the duration of the week regardless of whether or not they could save Terry and the Dolls.

But it was too late. Xiayu let go of the staff, continuing to go towards the waterfall. If she was successful in her gamble, she would reach Kara and Hyakkimaru and could help them. If not, well...maybe the waterfall wouldn't hurt too much.

The pockets of air exploded beneath the ice. The bridge ruptured, shattering into smaller and smaller pieces. The waves leaped, glowed and danced. The Red and White teams were send flying.

Blessed with the speed of Mercury, Billy was fast enough to pull the raging battery within his chest away from the battle on the surface before the region's population was truly decimated. Yet, with Arcade's magic limiting the powers of the Game's Participants, we could not outrun the blast its. Thunder coursed through the waves.

[BOOM]

Lightning pierced the hearts of Loa and Kate, energy surging through every cell in their bodies. Within moments, all life was forced from their bodies. Sending them into a numb tailspin beneath the waves. Warmth flooded the region. The blinding lights soon began to fade.

"What happened...?" Scott murdered, scrambling to his feet and wiping a pool of warm water from his face. A striking pain overwhelmed his senses. He rushed over to one of the many new breaks in the bridge, staring down into the abyss. Through the blackness, he could make out two lifeless figures, drifting through the black. "My God..."

@Under the Ice: Shazam, Hakeye Loa and Hnikar

After the light from Billy's unwitting lighting blast died down, Shazam would find himself lost beneath the waves with two corpses drifting just beyond his reach. Deeper still, he would be able to make out the now conscious body of Hnikar, who's mastery of lighting had protected him from the thunder-bomb. Still, from the corner of his eye, he could make out a stirring figure. Just beyond the edges of his vision, he see that the creature was stalking him, circling him, having danced just outside of the blast radius. It was a clever girl for sure.

With 40 Seconds of Oxygen remaining, the two submerged champions would hear another muffled roar. The creature was merely moments away.

"Aw-Right! It main-event time! Time for the smack-down of the century!"

Exploiting the pseudo-Kryptonian's vulnerability to magic proved to be a fruitful strategy, with the blast of concentrated stone magic striking Kara between her shoulder blades. Following up Max's blast with a rapid sledge hammer punch of his own, Superboy's slowly rising strength gave the Stone Blast the slight push it needed to shatter Kara's guard completely tossing her and her passenger into the ravine.

However, with the vines binding Kara to the river-bed now severed, Kara would find herself able to swim without a broken wrist. The shock of hitting the water, combined with his injuries, would flood Hyakkimaru with an intense pain, leaving him even more vulnerable. This would worsen with the absence of his arms, which sat on the riverbank beside Isabeau and Nezumi. Unlike the Dolls and the Batman, the River's two more recent residents still had a fair amount of time to react in before being washed over the bridge of the waterfall.

The desperate howls of the struggle downstream and the flashing lights of Max's most recent attack would be enough to gradually reawaken Weapon Hex, who would find the affects of the Trigger Hexed Trigger scent now subsiding. Separated from her party, she would find herself met with a choice-- follow the sounds of the struggle or retreat further into the jungle.

"No!" Terry cried. "Xianyu! D-D-DON'T!!"

Helpless and reeling in pain, Terry could only watch as Xianyu's body was sent tumbling downstream and out of sight, having been taken by the will of the waves. With Hyakkimaru and Kara preoccupied by Max and Conner's assault, they would find themselves unable to help the Doll as tongues of white water lashed at her skin. Tossed around like a Doll, she soon faded from sight. Anything she had been trying to say was lost to the roar of the waterfall.

Even whilst enduring the toxic sting of the vine, Isabeau and Nezumi would find the strength to pull the Jianyu and Terry from the ravine. Battered, bruised, and lashed, the last remaining Doll would surface relatively unharmed. Terry's injuries remained grave, his already grave injuries having been mode severe by the beating.

"She could still be out there... she could be okay---she could be---NO!!"

Nezumi cursed, keeping hold of the vine despite the pain he was in nd pulled as hard as possibe. Once the two were out he untied the rope from Jianyu's waist and discarded it before turning to Terry. Removing his gloves and tossing them to the ground for a moment, the singer carefully tried to assess the damage.

Jianyu's limp, dead eyed state was one he was personally familiar with, and Nezumi regarded her thoughtfully. Then she spoke, and that made him a bit uneasy on top of his irritation at the situation he was put in.

"If you intend to do what I think you are, now's not the time. We need to regroup-if that's even possible-tend to any wounded and come up with some kind of plan of action." He spoke up. No, now wasn't the time for a possible suicide mission for revenge. Though he wasn't sure if the possibility of her waiting for a proper moment to strike would be better or worse. Honestly? He knew little of her, but felt he got a semi good reading of her in the last couple of hours at the least. Revenge, for her, could come later.

Alice blinked at being called a soldier, and tried to remember if Scott ever mentioned being part of or trained for a war. Her mind came up blank on that front, but she nodded and pulled out her gun anyway.

"Yeah, dunno if it's still in any condition to fire." She replied with a bit of a grumble, though her voice was clear. Shortly after, she winced slightly, cringing a bit at his outburst towards Billy.

Then everything went to hell in the span of possibly minutes.

"!!" Seeing the sea of flame from the enraged man's visor, Alice grabbed Scott's arm. There was no telling about the ice bridge at this point, and if he was blinded by rage he could make a mistake that could hurt himself and the rest of the team he's been looking out for the last few hours.

"Scott, tone it down some!" She spoke. It looked like she'd have to have some form of rationality amongst the multiple emotions running through her at that moment.

"Look, we're still on ice, and it may be sturdy now it could melt sooner or later with how much heat you're making." She tried to reason, if not to calm him than to at least have him reign in some of his power for a bit. She eyed the rest of white team warily, even as Eli still tried to kill Goro, and ws prepared to either shoot or stab them if need be if or once they retaliate.

"That's right, m'darling!" A voice called from the clouds. Floating down from the sparkling hue came Arcade, drifting on a wind. "That was 110% the Orange Team's fault!!"

"Well, when I say 110% I really mean... well, it's mostly the Orange Team's fault. I mean, I controlled the water pressure, but that's like saying I loaded the gun. Somebody else pulled that trigger. I don't generally show the highlights early, but--"

With a click of his fingers, the sky above the jungle seemed to transform into an enormous screen, replaying the events of the previous morning. From the positioning of Arcade's chosen nano-camera, Jianyu could just make out the distant outline of their camp, marked out by the tower of smoke that had leaped from their campfire. At the base of the frame, she could make out the what seemed to be the base of a large stone dam, with small streams of water dancing over the top layer of some distant rocks.

The replay then showed the trigger scent raining from the sky, and the camp fading into the Orange Fog.

"Be patient, now. Its coming up soon... any... second... now!"

A masked figure darted past the camera, and delicately laid a compact explosive device just in front of the frame. Even from behind him mouth-scarf and goggles, the enlarged picture made it clear to see that the Winter Soldier had destroyed the dam and flooded the region.

"Everything set up on your end, James?"

"We're all good here. She'll blow in thirty."

"Betta get moving then--"

In a flash, a red and yellow blur appeared behind Bucky, bracing his neck and back with his arms.

"You sure about this, Buck?"

"Sure I am. This thing should clear out the whole river. Should thin the heard."

"That's not what it---"

"What?"

"--nothing. Betta get outta---"

In another golden flash the two vanished. A heartbeat later, flames engulfed the sky, followed by a flash of rushing white water.

"Well, you all know what happened next--"

With another click of his fingers, Arcade's camera rapidly fly across the island. The sky projected scenes of Hex slicing at Hyakkimaru and Terry. Jianyu saw herself get tossed around the river. The final scene looped; Xianyu slipped over the edge of the waterfall over and over again.

"Ah. Looks like its stuck. Might have to turn it off and on again."

A few more awkward moments passed.

"Nope. That's just gonna keep looping. Well, at least its a good show. She really flailed about as she fell. Like a... rag doll. The joke was there. Couldn't help it. Say--- you kids wanna see the body?"

A distant explosion rocked the jungle.

"Hear that? How about this?"

"Consider it a beacon. A little RSVP for a little Murder Party. That's the sound of me showing you exactly where to find Mr.James 'Bucky' 'I-Killed-Your-Sister' Barnes. You get to kill him. Smash him. Pulverize the fella who killed your sister. Just like you gut's telling ya to do right now. But here's the catch-- this offer will only stay on the table if you leave now. Right now. As in right now. Sure. It means you leave dear old Terry. Sure, it means you leave precious Hyakkimaru and Kara high and dry. But... you'll have a shot at getting justice for your sister! You can be a real bog-boy Avenger! But you'll have to hurry, little killer. The clock is ticking..."

Hnikar's rightward glance would leave him face to face with the lurking beast. As is soared forward, the ice bridge above began to shake and rise, trembling in its water wake. At a glance, the enormous creature was hideous. Long and fat and coated in scales as rough as rusty metal, the megalodon-hybrid tore through the waves, its jaw unhinged to reveal a sea of jagged dagger teeth.

You're the worst superhero ever. As Billy watched as his act to save people ended with two dead instead, he couldn't but help reflect on something that his foster brother had told him after he had nearly crashed a city bus... he couldn't help but feel that sort of shame again. Though he didn't dare to admit it, there was a part of him that wonder... he couldn't dwell on that fact right now. He wouldn't even bother to wave back or even acknowledge the beast, sending his own body propelling up as fast as he could, using his lightning as a boost to the surface. Maybe he didn't care about the others there, or maybe he forgot he was in water, but it would definitely hit the surface with him along with the ensign, causing a second burst of surface electricity to happen.

No way am I doing that!

I'm not gonna kill anyone.

How strange. Just five minutes ago, that would have been Jianyu's immediate response to Arcade's offer. It may have been even more crude, more profane and hostile, but she would have absolutely told him to take his beacon and stick it where it hurt.

But that was five minutes ago. When she still had a sister.

...and when it was still asleep.

Jianyu had never told anyone about this. She hadn't even told Xiayu about it, that was how scary it was. Maybe Xiayu had the same thing and never told her, either. But she'd never know now. She was on her own, and she knew exactly why Arcade had brought her here.

You see, the thing about M. Bison that people didn't seem to get was that just because he was dead, didn't mean he was gone. The man, while still mortal in the end, was still as powerful as a god, and if you were chosen as a target of his fucked-up schemes, you felt the impact every day for the rest of your life. Depression, PTSD, physical ailments, and who knows what else. And it would take hours of therapy and medication to undo even a fraction of what he did to you.

But with Jianyu, and possibly others...it was a bit more complicated than that. There was more to the story that she kept a secret from everyone else. It was no mystery how Bison was able to control them all so effectively: Psycho Power. A wicked energy that fed on negativity. Fear, anger, despair...it grew power from malevolence. Once free of Shadaloo, just about everyone no longer had to worry about it. They could go back to being normal people. But Jianyu wasn't normal. She was mouthy, rude, selfish, lazy, and bad tempered. All qualities that Psycho Power fed on. She knew some of it had never fully gone away, and lingered within her as if she were the perfect host for it if she was ever pushed over the edge.

Well, watching that clip? Seeing her sister die over and over? Knowing she was killed deliberately?

Yeah. That was enough.

Jianyu had gotten to her knees, but doubled over, clutching her stomach. It was churning within her, begging for release. The grief of losing Xiayu, the hopelessness of the situation, the fury at seeing her killers, the fear of being alone...so much negativity made it unbearable. And yet...it called to her, in a way. Avenge her, it whispered. I can show you how.

And, in the end, it was too much to refuse.

Jianyu slowly got to her feet, unsteady at first, but she managed it. Her emotions were still shut off, as she remained uncharacteristically quiet. She looked at those around her, her "team." People who thought they could work together to get out, when in reality the desire to work together got two of them killed already. Nice guys finish last...and Jianyu had never really been nice in the first place.

"Xiayu died for us," she said. If they looked closely, there was the faintest trace of a dark aura around the Doll. "Don't you DARE let that go to waste." It was as close to a goodbye as they would get. Not like she had been close to them, anyways. That out of the way, she turned towards the sound and started moving. There was a lot more to think about and figure out, but that would come later. There was only one thing on Jianyu's mind right now.

The Winter Soldier was going to pay.

"Scott, tone it down some!" She spoke. It looked like she'd have to have some form of rationality amongst the multiple emotions running through her at that moment.

"Look, we're still on ice, and it may be sturdy now it could melt sooner or later with how much heat you're making." She tried to reason, if not to calm him than to at least have him reign in some of his power for a bit. She eyed the rest of white team warily, even as Eli still tried to kill Goro, and ws prepared to either shoot or stab them if need be if or once they retaliate.

"We're--on--Ice--"

Scott panted, regaining his composure. He closed his eyes righted and rubbed his throbbing bow. He dropped to one knee to catch his own. He shut off his optic blasts, and released his fists.

"We were supposed to look after own. Its what I was trained to do. To lead my kind to a better tomorrow. Now... Now a mutant from a future I screwed up just got... because I wasn't strong or smart enough or good enough to keep her safe. I can't bring her back, but I can make all this mean something. Shazam is a double murderer, Alice. Loa needs justice."

His emotional state wasn't helping anyone. He knew that. He had spent his whole life knowing that a war was coming. A revolution. Some great change that would transform his people's path. But when faced with the blood and fire of change, all he wanted to do was punch something. Blast something. Replace his pain with someone else's. Loa had warned him of the man he would become. A terrorist. A villain from a bedtime story. He couldn't let his passion eat him up. Right now, he needed direction. He needed the professor.

"Alice... I need your objectivity. If you want to fall back, I'll fall back with your. We might be able to reach the Badlands before the Bridge breaks down completely. But I stand by what I said: Shazam has to pay for what he's done."

As Billy watched as his act to save people ended with two dead instead, he couldn't but help reflect on something that his foster brother had told him after he had nearly crashed a city bus... he couldn't help but feel that sort of shame again. @Under the Ice+Over the Ice
Billy's second electrical surge was less dramatic that his first, with all of the Red Team's currently out of the water. The shock of his swift resurfacing and the force of the second electric explosion was enough to separate the ice bridge further, with crashing waves claiming even more of the path. Knocked off both their feet and their guard, the Champions could only watch as their numbers were divided further. The Bridge had drifted into three main segments.

On the First, Scott and Alice stood, their backs to land. They had a path to retreat back to the Frozen Forest or to the Badlands. As wet as they were from the lashing waves, returning to the colder regions would open them up to the possibility of falling ill and being more vulnerable to the cold. A quick retreat would mean abandoning Eli to fight the White Team alone.

On the Second and largest segment, stood Jak. The size of the second segment allowed Jak to move freely towards the Frozen Plains or back to the Northern Clearing as he saw fit.

On the Third, Goro and Eli continued to battle. The third segment was slowly drifting towards eastward towards Otherside Cliff. If the two fighters remained on the third segment, they risked drifting off course and into the wider ocean.

Between each segment, several smaller chunks of ice floated freely. It would be a risky journey, but if they were careful, the Champions might find themselves able to travel from one main segment to the next. Falling below the ice would be a great risk, however. The shock of falling into the icy water would render the Champions little more than fish food, and lingering outside of the main segments for too long would attract the attention of the beast beneath the ice.

Even without sight, Hyakkimaru was able to tell from the feeling of rushing water assaulting them and the distant soul signatures of everyone else, this river was a huge problem for just about everyone. With the Unversed serving their purpose well along with Mantis's help, the rogue keyblade wielder found a perfect spot to make his appearance and join the fray. Right at the mere moment that one of them would suggest moving away from the chaos, Vanitas's voice boastfully leered at them.

❝ Too late. ❞

Taking into account the placement of his Unversed, Vanitas leapt out of his pool of darkness in a position where the Purple Team would be surrounded. Before he would land, the masked boy swung his keyblade in a wide arc, sending a Dark Thundaga spell their way while the powered-up Scrapper Unversed engaged with a feral need to tear their claws into their targets. Regardless of whether or not the thunder spell hit them, Vanitas didn't waste time to get into a fighting stance upon landing on his feet, keyblade raised with the intent to kill.

❝ Try all you want, but you lot just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. ❞ He awaited for what they planned to do, seeing no reason to rush in and attack when his Unversed filled in that role already. Nor did he want to put himself in a bad position and have to rely on his hidden comrade to back him up for a careless mistake.

"So you're the dude behind all this crap?" The Hulk cried, blocking the thunder blast his a shadowy-meat-shield before tossing the nearest Unversed over his shoulders and into the sand stream. Whilst the creature was dragged across the Drylands and out of sight, Cho roared, leaping forward like a green cannonball. A green hammer-fist raised above his head, he charged towards Vanitas, leaping across the sandy rapids in a single bound.

"Alright bud, looks like I'll have to bring your scheduled butt-kicking appointment forward a few days! Hope you've cleared your calendar!!"

Striking down at the Masked Boy, Cho sought to hammer down upon Vanitas' key blade, the strength of a dozen rhinos compacted into his punch. Turning back towards his team, he released a mighty bellow.

"I'll cover you! If you wanna run, heap straight up! Follow the light! If not, there's still chores to be done down here!!"

Jianyu had gotten to her knees, but doubled over, clutching her stomach. It was churning within her, begging for release. The grief of losing Xiayu, the hopelessness of the situation, the fury at seeing her killers, the fear of being alone...so much negativity made it unbearable. And yet...it called to her, in a way. Avenge her, it whispered. I can show you how.

And, in the end, it was too much to refuse.

Jianyu slowly got to her feet, unsteady at first, but she managed it. Her emotions were still shut off, as she remained uncharacteristically quiet. She looked at those around her, her "team." People who thought they could work together to get out, when in reality the desire to work together got two of them killed already. Nice guys finish last...and Jianyu had never really been nice in the first place.

"Xiayu died for us," she said. If they looked closely, there was the faintest trace of a dark aura around the Doll. "Don't you DARE let that go to waste." It was as close to a goodbye as they would get. Not like she had been close to them, anyways. That out of the way, she turned towards the sound and started moving. There was a lot more to think about and figure out, but that would come later. There was only one thing on Jianyu's mind right now.

The Winter Soldier was going to pay.

"Now that is delicious!" Arcade cried, writhing his hand. He clapped, grinned, and, on his command, the trees of the Jungle seemed to part behind him. The long, earthy trail they revealed seemed to stretch on for miles, however, the shaded passage seemed to have been carved across relatively flat ground. The journey to the Orange Team's camp would likely only taken them half an hour if they really set their minds to it. "I knew bringing you here was a safe bet. Between you and me-" He turned his head to the left, then to the right, before staring back at Jianyu with a sickening grin on his lips. "I always liked you more than your sourpuss sister. And I mean that. I really do. But hey, I won't keep you any longer. Besides, I've got somewhere to be, and my little path wont be here forever... so Go Kill Somebody... I'll be watching..."

After following Arcade's path for some time, the trail slowly went dead. The line between 'path' and 'jungle' seemed to grow blurrier and blurrier with each step.

The edge of the jungle seemed to be a total dead zone. No animals. No rivers or lakes. Nothing but silence and trees. Yet at as they walked, they caught sight of a new path- a path of destruction carved through the green. Fallen trees smashed into splinters. Burned grass. Small, hand dug ditches no deeper than a fist. Someone had stripped the region bare at neck break speed. Soon, even the tree population seemed to thin. A glance to the skies revealed reason why.

Across the cloudy canopy, a wooden boardwalk had been stitched together from bark, flint and vines. The job would have taken a normal man a month or two to assemble. It must have taken the Kid Flash a handful of minutes. At the heart of the boardwalk sat half a dozen huts, warmed by neatly thatched roofs and warmed by small fires. No matter how long the Champions surveyed the scene, they couldn't seam to find a way to reach the huts from the ground. Burn marks across the trees implied that the Orange Team's resident speedster ferried his allies from the forest floor and back again.

Hushed chatter could be heard coming from one of the huts. A metallic arm glistened in the light of fire. Unmistakably, the Winter Soldier was resting in one of the huts.

Yet to reach him, the Vengeful Champions would have to find a way to scale the 30 foot trees raising the Orange Camp from the forest floor, each of which had been stripped of its branches. Alternatively, they could attempt to lure their foes out of their comfort zones and into battle. Either way would be a risk, but then again, revenge was never an easy path...

Arcade's comments really did nothing but fuel her energy, and Jianyu ignored him as she walked on. Bastard. At the end of the day, it was really his fault this all happened. But it was all right. He would pay for what he did, too. Jianyu considered him her sister's killer just as much as she did the Orange Team member...though currently she didn't have a prayer of even injuring him right now. The immediate target, the killable target, was the one she focused on.

Through the jungle, Jianyu didn't dare think of anything but her mission. Within her, she already felt emotions building up like a floodgate, aching to be let out. But she refused to let herself feel anything right now. Bison had been the same way she remembered. Calm and calculating, rather than overly emotional, and that let him channel his Psycho Power effectively. Meanwhile, whenever he possessed Jianyu and the others, their emotions flared up out of control, and they went berserk. Unable to do anything but feel, it made them puppets, free for him to use however he wanted. Suddenly she kind of understood why they were named Dolls; they'd been just that. Toy soldiers to use up and toss aside after they'd been broken.

Well, this was one Doll that didn't break. And one that refused to let this island break her, either.

Upon her arrival at the camp, Jianyu surveyed the scene. She knew exactly which tree he was in, which hut to target. But...she had to be careful. That entire team was unpredictable. So, before stepping one foot into their setup, she surveyed the scene for any traps, or soil that had been tampered with, in case the Winter Soldier had planted even more bombs. That had always been Xiayu's job...no. No. Stop. Wait until this is over. Focus, damn it. Focus.
