Non-Canon On a Cold Neverwinter Day IC

The cultists blocked the door, hands on their swords and presenting magic. They had angry looks on their faces, and were prepared to launch into a frenzied mob to tear the party apart.

"We're afraid we can't let you pass, Harpers." The woman in robes said. "Tiamat will rise, and you can not prevent that. Severin has declared it so." She held a large spear, which she prepared to swing.

The door behind you into the rest of the manor was unguarded and behind you.

As the orc stepped forward, his muscles and battle scars were clearly visible. His sword hand clearly displaying his biceps where his muscles rippled. His scars were numerous and covered his body, clearly the elements of a strong warrior. "I hope you are prepared for your death. Gruumsh will not be merciful."

"FOR GRUUMSH!" He shouted as he swung his sword.

Scorpia and Fjord would be a moment too late. The rat scampered into a nearby tunnel that had been dug into the foundation of the burning building.

"CATCH THEM!" Harper Boward shouted as she ran into the room, crossbow in hand. "We must get the crown back!"

She leapt into the tunnel.

The group would arrive after a small hill to a ruined tower. On a field below, several wearing Neverwinter Guard dress were engaged in combat with a group of orcs. One of the orcs cut a Nevewinter Guard before raising his head and shouting a battle cry. The other guards pulled back, spears in hand. In the ruined tower, a Harper Agent crouched with knife in hand, grabbing her shoulder.

Leoven would look towards her. "Cardiana, what's happening?" He asked, his voice calm.

The woman would wince in pain. "They blindsided us. Took Xalliana, I escaped but barely." the woman said, clutching a wound. "We're being massacred down there." She gestured towards the orc horde.
The situation was definitely a dire one; an entire warband of what seemed like mythical creatures, bashing and slicing against the organized rows of human guardsmen and warriors. Diarmuid's expression pulled back into a tense grimace as he landed by and listened to the young woman, fiddling with his blades' grips. No time to waste talking anymore...

"Ser Leoven, do what you can for our friend. Lady Wendy, we're going to turn the tide."

Without waiting for a response to his orders, the knight launched himself once more into the air, the wrappings of Beagalltach unfurling as he did so. Angling himself in mid-air so that his descent aimed for the wild orcish horde, Diarmuid narrowed his eyes to focus upon the one who had raised the war cry earlier while readying his blade. The only warning it or its comrades would receive before a shining blade of gold aimed to cleave downwards through the beast's body and Diarmuid landed feet first and cracked the ground around him was a resolute roar echoing from the sky above them, the words of a knight seeking to inspire those who faltered and required an emblem to rally behind.

"My name is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, son of Donn and foster son of Aengus! The First Warrior of the Knights of Fianna shall face you now!"

Fjord

Fjord would look over at the rat who had scampered into the tunnel and he knew that it seemed important to the Nashers, so he wasn't about to let them get it.

"If it is so important to them, we have to go after them- it will drive them crazy and I'm all for fucking with these guys," he said, diving into the tunnel after Scorpia and Harper Boward.

Kazuma when he realized their cover had been compromised.

Loath as he was to depend on a complete deviant pervert (even though he did that plenty with Darkness back home), Kazuma stood behind Merlin, attempting to take safety in whatever spells the mage was casting. In any case, despite Elizia's attempts to seemingly draw attention to herself for the sake of the rest of the group, it seemed to do little as the cultists focused their attention on each of them.

Still, he may as well carry his own weight too. He was used to doing all of that anyway back home, all things considered.

"Create Water! Freeze!"

Defaulting to his favorite combination of spells, the young man extended out his arm and fired out a stream of water that landed into the space between him and the group of cultists ready to attack them, and in tandem with his Freeze spell, the large puddle quickly froze up, turning into a slippery surface that would hopefully buy them some time.

"C'mon, let's find another way out of here!" He exclaimed, and with that, turned around, kicking down the door behind them before running deeper into the castle, looking for anything -- a window, most realistically -- that they could dive out of.

What the mage had in mind was a spell, but a fairly unconventional one. It was simple, really. Eventually, the guise of Magi Mari had to be discarded at some point, but that in itself was a gradual process. So...

❝ Kyaaa! Take this for mentally undressing meee! ❞ Magi Mari screamed in a panic, suddenly rushing to remove her shoes to briefly charge magical energy into them before chucking the pair at the cultists. With that done in combination of Kazuma's work, the mage bolted out of the room while pulling off the knee-high stockings with the same magical attack that was done with the shoes.

❝ Keep looking, Kazuma-kun! I'll hold any creepy cultist off with my special magic! ❞

Elizia let out a shout, as both of her adamant scimitars were drawn... Preparing to battle the Cultists head on, but seeing that the others seemed to be managing okay, her mind started to wander towards the door behind them.

While she did also want to fight the Cultists, there was another pressing matter on her mind; they were supposed to find out as much information as they could about this place.

And what's more is, she had to figure out what they were going to try and do to summon Bahamut. Or at least, where it was taking place.

If she could not stop the ritual, she could at the very least face the dragon before it would unleash its reign of terror amongst this place.

With that in mind, she took up a more defensive stance as she began backing towards the unguarded door behind her.

Seeing that Kazuma was already one step ahead of her, she motioned towards "Magi Mari", an impatient look on her face.

"Come on! Let's get out of here!" She shouted, feigning cowardice.

The notion disgusted her, but it was neccessary for the moment. She wanted to trick the Cultists into believing she was trying to escape, rather than trying to snoop around the place while she still could.

"So be it." Taric stared the orc down, refusing to back down. He had to save Xalliana, and he was prepared to do so. As his opponent attacked, Taric raised his shield to block the attack, using his mace to swing at the orc's torso.

Wendy, who saw the injured Cardiana, hadn't even thought twice before she started to work on healing her with her own healing magic. She knew this would drain her, but she wasn't one to ignore an injured comrade. It took her a few moments, but once she felt it was done, she rose to her feet, albeit a bit shaky. "There!" She said with a small smile. "Just rest a bit and you should be fine! Let us take care of this for you." She said to both Cardiana and Leoven, turning towards the hordes of orcs. Without a second thought, she rushed into the fray to assist Diarmuid and those who were still fighting.

Wendy jumped into the air, looking down at a large group of orcs on the right side of Diarmuid, deciding to make them her target of attack. Come on, She thought, Just like the others! "Sky Dragon..." She started, power swelling around her.

The tunnel was small, being intended for rat... people. However, the further back you got, the wider it got eventually leading into the city sewers. They scampered through the sewers as they wound throughout the city streets. The rat people drew swords and clashed with the Harpers including Boward. They would scamper towards another small tunnel they had carved out of the rock that looked to lead up once again.

The orc would recoil at the large gash formed on his belly. He roared towards the ceiling. "GRUUMSH DEMANDS A SACRIFICE!" He shouted as he picked up the large sword once again. He prepared to go for a Helm Splitter, to bring the large sword down onto Taric's head. "YOUR BLOOD WILL BE SPILLED!"

Looking over, Taric could see Lucina untying Xalliana.

Scorpia was not being gentle as she crashed through the small tunnel to try and get a hold of the rat, cracking and breaking the walls as they went. She sighed in relief when they finally got out. "Why is there always so much running. Geez..." Seeing the rats scamper about Scorpia stomed her foot. "Oh no, I'm not going to let you get away this time!" Trying to see if she could spot the one holding the crown she'd throw the thing that was closest to her at it...which happened to be Fjord. "Sorry~!" It sounded like she genuinely meant it too.

Fjord hadn't expect to be grabbed after he had attempted to use his magic. He dropped his concentration when that happen, wondering why the woman was throwing him. He had no clue if her aim had been true and if he would land at the time, but he would take a moment to attempt to summon his Falchion in mid-air, planning to drive it through the one who was holding the crown a the moment.

"Perhaps your lord shall grant you a boon for your sacrifice; allow me to make certain that you have a chance to ask for such a reward."

With that said, Diarmuid's body began moving naturally in sync with Wendy's magic to cut into the beasts' scattered ranks. There was no point in continuing to jeer and taunt the enemy before him; there was a needling awareness in his mind that they needed to end this battle before any other guardsmen suffered injuries, and thus the knight didn't hesitate to begin carving away arms and guts without remorse. The golden gleam of his trusted sword began to mix with crimson flecks of the orcs' blood, Diarmuid settling into a dance of destruction and death as he threw aside maces and axes that were returned with malicious strikes to the throat and chest for every orc that thought it might challenge him.

@RyuKeiko @Minerva

"Ugh!" Taric attempted to roll out of tge way of the orc's attack, trying to ignore just how undignified he must look performing such a maneuver. But seeing that Lucina was so close to freeing Xalliana gave him a surge of confidence. Perhaps he could try to finish this orc off? Or even wear him down as he bled out? Either way, victory would be assured one way or another.

"There will be a sacrifice indeed..." Taric said, standing to full height. "Yours!" With that, he charged forward, mace at the ready to try and get another devastating hit on the orc.

Wendy grimaced at the sight of the blood and limbs that seem to come from the carnage that Diarmuid left in his wake. I really don't want to fight like that... She thought to herself, but shook her head and focused on the task ahead of her. She had to stay focused, the people here are in need of assistance, and through the power of Grandeeney she would provide it. She could provide healing to those injured, but she had to fight these beast off first. Standing her ground, she noticed a fresh wave of Orcs charging her position after she knocked a few back. Using her magic, she boosted her speed once more and charged towards the Orcs, her magic swelling around her in preparation to attack.

By the time they had a moment to think up an escape plan without being attacked, Merlin had somehow returned to his regular appearance, but still holding onto a crumpled ball that was the stockings he wore as Magi Mari.

❝ Ah... I'm afraid that I am no use when it comes to plans, but I'm entirely convinced that those who accompanied me here have a better idea on what to do than me. ❞ He laughed it off, and casually pushed this task of "planning" to his allies. The most he could do was be a distraction, but it seemed that their enemies here were able to ignore said distraction. In conclusion, the Mage of Flowers was completely useless here.

"It's not just important to them. It's the Crown of Neverwinter. It shows who is from the line of Alagondar, and thus a ruler of Neverwinter." Boward said, reloading the crossbow as she stepped down into the hole. "Losing it is a huge hit for morale on all sides."

The cult would chase the group to the back of the house. When he kicked, Kazuma would break through a large door. They would enter a large ballroom. Two cultists followed them, slamming and blocking the doors behind them with a bust. They threw off their robes, revealing Harper Pins on their lapels.

"Gods DAMMIT!" One shouted. "We almost had Severin in our grasp, and our cover is blown." One shouted. "Months of work and meetings, gone. Now Tiamat might come and end the world in a few weeks." He was clearly angry, as shown by his large arm gestures.

The other was a blonde wizard, who seemed much calmer.

"We have a few minutes before they break down that door." She said. "What's the plan?"

They would need a game plan. There was a small *skritch-skratch* coming from the fireplace in the back of the room. Nothing to worry about, right?

Leoven would nod and crouch to the ground in order to treat the wounded Harper.

Meanwhile, down in the crowd, an orc would laugh as he swung his mace, hitting a Neverwinter guard in the head. He let out a gurgle as he collapsed.

"Gruumsh accepts your noble sacrifices." He said, laughing towards Diarmuid.

Only to be knocked back by Wendy's attacks. Several orcs would panic as they died from the unexpected magic. The others would snort and prepare to charge.

"WE CAN'T BE HELD BACK! FOR GRUUMSH!" They rallied.

By the time they had a moment to think up an escape plan without being attacked, Merlin had somehow returned to his regular appearance, but still holding onto a crumpled ball that was the stockings he wore as Magi Mari.

Arslan tried to think, though the sounds coming from the fireplace distracted him for a momemt. Taking out his short sword he went to investigate it, taking a moment to take a good look around the room for any other potential escape routes while he was at it.

He wasn't going to ask why Merlin had stockings in his hand, deciding it wasn't even worth it.

Fjord

" Well, now, that's just incredibly poorly guarded then. You have rats that can break in and steal the crown and make everyone in Neverwinter feel low mortale. Maybe it might be a good idea to stop them. I don' know why it would affect everyone, but I am not going to question it."

Fjord was a big guy, not stocky, but he had some trouble squeezing through the hole, but would eventually reach the other side as he looked over at the harpers and the rats fighting, looking for the crown, running his hand through his face to make himself look like a rat person so he could trick one of them into giving him the crown.

@Jeremi @Minerva

Fjord

Fjord hadn't expect to be grabbed after he had attempted to use his magic. He dropped his concentration when that happen, wondering why the woman was throwing him. He was nervous that he had done something to make her mad. He took a deep breath, looking back to see her apologize. Well that was nice of her to be sorry about throwing him. He had no clue if her aim had been true and if he would land at the time, but he would take a moment to attempt to summon his Falchion in mid-air, planning to drive it through the one who was holding the crown a the moment.

The skritch skritch sound would end, and all of a sudden there would be a large smashing sound as the wall crashed in, and...

Out popped Fjord's head, and several screaming rats, who had bolts and arrows in their backs, and were also crushed. This was followed by several more rats, and then by Boward who looked confused.

Meanwhile the female wizard would gesture to Merlin's stockings. "Give those to me and guard the door. I think I have a way of getting us out of here."

"Perhaps your lord shall grant you a boon for your sacrifice; allow me to make certain that you have a chance to ask for such a reward."

"YOUR BLOOD WILL SPILL, HUMAN!" the orc shouted. "GRUUMSH WILL NOT FALL!" The line of orcs just kept coming, one after the other. Tooth and nail flew, the stench of blood permeated the field. The orcs dying for Grrumsh in an attempt to satiate his bloodlust.

Meanwhile, the Neverwinter soldiers would be healed. They picked up spears and swords and shields.

"Regroup!" A wounded soldier said, pikcing up his sword. "We must retake the district!" They shouted. The soldiers began gathering into a formation and clashing blades against the orcs’.

“For Lady Marvell and Lord Neverember!” They shouted, praising their lord and savior.

@Minerva

The Orc laughed as the mace hit him. “Grummsh will be grateful!” He shouted, raising his sword once again.

There was a soft thunk sound as Xalliana had hit the ground. She twirled a dagger and positioned herself behind the Orc...

"Well it's not my fault everything went downhill! You can put all the blame you want on that garbage goblin there, but as usual, I had nothing to do with it!" Kazuma exclaimed, pointing an accusatory finger toward Merlin as he spoke. The boy was truly ready to crush Merlin like a tin can, considering his calm and lackadaisical manner, about to throw him in the trash where he belonged.

Still, they had little time to even bemoan their situation. Indeed, they needed to devise a plan, and very soon.

Jumping back, startled greatly as the wall was crashed in, the boy practically hid in a craven manner behind the female wizard, eyes wide in alarm. "And just what are you going to do with those?! I'm not sure you should even be touching them! You might already have herpes if he's been wearing them!!" He said in regards to Merlin's stockings, his mind barely able to focus on his magic enough to defend himself if absolutely needed be, not that he could probably do much.

Heck, if Megumin were even able to cast Explosion here, she may as well just murder both parties while she was at it, the entire place could come down on them! They were really between a rock and a hard place here.

Taric would do what he could to draw as little attention to Xalianna as possible, luring the orc's focus as much on him instead. He smiled, bringing his shield up to block the attack, going completely on the defensive now. "Yes...I'm sure he will be."

Fjord

Fjord would take some time to struggle a bit to get out of the wall. " Sorry to crash in on your moment.... but could someone like explain what happen that caused everyone to be yelling? I was trying to get the crown back.... but got a little too fancy for my own good, also, hi, I'm Fjord," he replied to them. For the briefest of seconds, Fjord accent had slid from Texan to British before switching back.
