"Mementos is...uh, hard to explain. As it is I still don't get it much..." He couldn't say much more than that, though, as suddenly somebody new showed up. In, like, the weirdest outfit Skull had ever seen. For real, she looked like a cosplayer!

"Hey! Hold up!" Joker usually led these negotiations and stuff, but maybe he could take a crack at it? "You can't drop all that info and just run off! The Hell are you anyway, teleporting all over like it's nothing?!"

@Crow

"Oh Knight, where are you in situations most dire!"

The strange lady didn't seem to calm from Skull's words as her boots made for a dash.

"That didn't work too well," Kokkoro adds as she vanishes, reappearing in front of the lady. As the lady runs towards other directions, she does the same thing again, effectively cornering her with her unstoppable speed.

"Excuse me, Miss, but I believe you have the right place. Please answer their questions. My allies may not be the most calm of individuals, but I assure you, they are in no way malicious."

The lady sighs as she halts her tracks. "Very well then. I am here not for aggression or feud, but for something important. And my name...

... my name is Pasha, the Ti- just Pasha will do. As said, I am looking for the Singularity of the Sky Realm...
"

"And why this Singularity specifically? Why not anyone else?"

"Are you willing to help?"

"Well, we don't even know what we're helping with... so..."

"For starters, what can this 'Singularity' be identified by, Pasha-sama?"

"I myself have difficulties, since I have not seen this person before. Well, for starters, he or she leads the crew of the Grandcypher, a-"

"That Grandcypher?" Shouko points to the Grandcypher that was parked not too far away. For Skull, that would be his first time seeing it.

airship-drawing-combat-4.png

"Yes, that- huh? Does that mean that the one I seek is closeby?"

"Well, if she's looking for someone on the ship, maybe we could invite her on. What do you all think?"

@Yun Lee

Skull shrugged. "Well, I ain't got any problem with it." I mean, it wasn't HIS ship. Turning to Pasha, he asked, "Hey, can you only teleport you, or other people too?"

@Crow

"Yes, I can indeed transport other people. I usually just do two to three at a time, but I've never actually tested its true capacity before. Let's just say that recent events have limited my capabilities lately."

"You know," Shouko adds, "we've been through a few 'recent events' ourselves lately... fuhihi..."

A few moments later, the group found themselves inside the Grandcypher, once more for most, for the first time for some.

"I will get the tea," Kokkoro adds.

"Oh, you're too kind."

"Would anyone prefer a serving of coffee?"

A familiar voice, belonging to someone who was already in the ship before them, rang. Now, where did they hear it before?

3040153000_serious.png

"You know, you shouldn't bring guests in without the Singularity's permission. I assume they'd be alright as long as these two don't do too much...

... they really are too kind for their own good."

"Wait wait wait, didn't we see you back there?

Oh and uh... full black, I guess."

"Indeed you did. But that was the me of another world, so I have heard from your earlier chatter. Since it's your first time seeing me, I suppose I should introduce myself.

I am Sandalphon.
"

Sandalphon joins the group with his coffee.

"You know, I expected the greater group to return. I assume they will be here soon?"

"You mentioned the Singularity, but who is this person?"

"Gra- Gran and D- Djeeta... is what most others on board call them. Personally, I don't find too much of a need to refer to them as such, save for simplicity's sake, which is why I'm getting used to it."

Sandalphon sips his coffee.

"Oooooohhh... those guys," Mirei hums in realisation. "Yeah, they should be back with the others any moment now."

Mirei follows Sandalphon's actions, sipping her bitter, black coffee. Her cheeks briefly expanded during this period, before she gulps it down, a bitter cringe evident on her face for a few seconds.

"So you do know them. Now that it has been clarified, all I need to do is wait. Thank you for the hospitality as I wait, ummmm..."

"Hayasaka Mirei!"

"Just Shouko will do..."

"Nikaido Saki. Don't you forget that name."

"Kokkoro."

"Aw, man! You guys got floating islands and freakin' airships but only coffee and tea to drink? How's there no soda around here?!" Skull sat down at the table, rocking back in his chair. Jeez...what the Hell had he gotten himself into? None of what these guys said made any sense, and trying to tune in and figure it out only gave him a headache. Man, why him?

Though, with everyone introducing themselves, he ought to do the same, right? Bummed by the lack of beverage options, he offered his, forgetting that he had been using his codename this whole time. "Name's Ryuji Sakamoto."

@Crow

"What's this Mementos place, anyways? I don't think I've heard of that restaurant," Mirei adds.

"What do they sell? Aglio Alio? Portobera Mushroom Carbonara? Pain on the platter?"

"I doubt that this Mementos Skull-sama speaks of is a restaurant of any kind," Kokkoro adds, "we should try to ask questions to each other later on, but for now, let's join the others."

Kokkoro opens the doors back into the building, before the group was interrupted by someone teleporting into the fray, right in front of them on the grassy patches!

6et4QDo.png

"Hmmm... this should be Phantagrande, in the Sky Realm. If I'm not wrong, the Sky Realm's singularity should be- oh! Well, this is awkward."

The lady, garbed in strange clothing and wielding a great staff, only just noticed our suburban friends and one mountain elf.

"Is it, really?" Mirei raises the eyebrow of her unpatched eye.

"Yeah," Saki growls, intimidating the lady, "don't think you can just teleport in front of us out of the blue and expect nothing to come out of it. You out to get us or something?"

"This situation is a lot more hostile than I thought. Maybe I ought to leave. Times like these are always so much smoother with the Knight around."

She panics, preparing to run.

"What are you doing?" Kyaru says as Yuuki approaches Gran and Djeeta, looking them in the eye while maintaining his smile. He reached into their ears, like a magician pulling a coin out in a trick.

Yuuki seemed to be doing something. He didn't snapped his fingers, he merely crossed his arms and maintained his gaze.

jOBVFqU.png

None could see what he was up to after that. Only Gran and Djeeta were fully aware of what he just did, and it was probably for the best.

"AAHH!"

As Yuuki shrugs his shoulders, he joins the group as Gran and Djeeta follow.

"Wh- what just happened?"

"I don't know, but don't you think that was pretty awesome?"

"I don't think you saw it either, Pecorine, but something tells me it's something we'll never understand. Ever."

"You will see soon," Johann says to Ian as the group proceeds. Onto the Forbidden Archives.

"Don't touch anything, that's how those Watchers popped out. Anyways, I think we've found something pretty direct here. It's about the Bahamut Totems and the Gears."

"Woah woah woah," Vyrn adds, "I think you're skipping a few steps here."

"I guess heading straight to the point does confuse some, now doesn't it? But yes, something like this happened three hundred years ago, so it's fortunate that we have some prior reference per say."

"I guess the same can't be said for the ones living back there..." (Crow)Lyria shook her head, then took her journal out, "I guess I should write this all down."

"From the perspective of the Skydwellers here, Pandemonium was replaced by livable land and seas, just as you described. This livable land and seas were in fact other worlds, and going down there was basically crossing into another world.

From an inference, I believe that these 'Gears' mentioned here and these 'Bahamut Totems' hold importance. These Gears, in their rightful place, hold various worlds in their place, but when they are scattered across worlds like they were back then, well... the worlds begin to converge, shifting away.

For you, Gran, Djeeta, Sandalphon and Lyria- s? Lyria. It's kind of like the explanation for how the islands stay afloat, just think of each island as an entire realm, and the control is in a core and not within each island itself. Only three different Gears are mentioned - the Diva Gear, the Trinity Gear and the Grid Gear, but we believe there might be more.

It seems that each Gear would be drawn to a world which it had more affinity with. The Grid Gear, which represented the importance of four elements, split into four and ended up in our world."

Illustrations of these Gears were displayed to the group.

"So this 'core' is where these gears are meant to be. What are 'Bahamut Totems' then?" Kyaru asks, pupils darting around.

"Bahamut Totems refer to people who have some type of embedded power in them, on top of their own, awakened when the Gears are displaced. It's said that something can be activated when all twenty-two are present in the same place at the same time, likely some kind of backup to fix the mess should the gathering of the Gears fail. Since these embedded powers are speculated to be pieces of a Primal Beast, or even a being beyond the Astrals, it might be possible that Lyria's abilities can sense them. Unless, of course, they're in a Primal Beast."

"You think bad guys will compete with us? Seems like that kind of story."

"That is possible, Djeeta, in fact, that is what happened in the past with a Lucifer of another world. He wished to use the Bahamut Totems to gain great power, and with them, he created some sort of 'Lesser Bahamut', as these texts call it- huh, some of this is faded. They really should use better ink. I know I would've if I lived back there...

... this part here mentions something about Yggdrasil, Tiamat, Collosus and Leviathan, and their link to the Grid Gear, but the faded text omits any further specification."

"Looks like we have a lead. I guess we should pay our friends a visit ASAP!"

"Hold your horses, Vyrn. Maybe we should see what everyone else has to ask first. Like this one...

What do the other Gears have links to?"

@Takumi @Kaykay @Gummi Bunnies @Jeremi @York @Crow @Lucky

"Fascinating..." Ladiva murmured to herself as she listened to their findings. "The plot thickens! I know we'll get to the bottom of this mystery though! I don't have a question really, I don't thin I'll get a straight answer just yet, but if there's a possibility of dastardly villains, then perhaps we should as Vyrn's says ask those that might know what to do next?"

@Takumi @Kaykay @Gummi Bunnies @Jeremi @York @Crow @Lucky @Crow

"Cooooming right up, Ryuji!"

A hand containing a glass of green-hued melon soda with an ice cream float and cherry on top reached forward, smacking upon the table in front of him. Some of the liquid was tossed upward by the force, but none spilled onto the table and all safely plunked back into.

3vxmxFK.jpg

"I don't think I've seen you around. Name's Lowain."
"I'm Elsam."
"Tomoi's the name."

"And we're the Lowain bros! Waheeeeey! Waheeeey!-"

WHYATUW.png

"-WAHEEEEEEEEYYYYYYY!!!!! LET'S BUUUUUUURRRRRRNNNN!!!!!"

During this, Shouko had just jumped onto her seat and screeched the ears of everyone in sheer excitement.

"Woah, woah, easy there, pal. Can't get too excited before the good stuff."
"She really is the fourth honourary Lowain bro!"

"Woah!" Lowain exclaims, "who's this new chick?"

"I am Pasha. I am waiting for the Singularity, the ones you call-"

"Gran and Djeeta, huh? Wait as long as you want, Miss! They always deliver, even if they can be fashionably late!

But yeah, we Lowain bros, we're the permanent cooking staff on board, and when we're not cooking for the crew, we're the playboys who playboy! Wa-"

Mirei points to Shouko.
"I don't think I want another popped eardrum," Tomoi adds.

And back to the conversation.

"Well then, glad to be formally introduced to you, Sakamoto-kun."

"Same man, same, fuhihihi..."

Mirei looks to her black coffee, then at Skull's newly-acquired melon soda, with eye most wide.

Well, she already had a drink though. She turned to (Crow)Sandalphon.

"M- milk for the coffee please."

"Coming right up.

Most people can't drink black coffee with a straight face for that long
, you know. Holding it in like that is actually impressive."

"You should see Asuka's photos from her business trip to Hawaii. This is nothing compared to that. She eventually caved in to the taste, though."

"What is this 'Hawaii' that you have back in your world?"

"We've never actually been-"
"Pizza."

"All right! Now we're talkin'!" Even through the mask, Ryuji's eyes visibly lit up at the sight of the melon soda. Man, that shit looked delicious! And it came with ice cream too? Yeah, this was definitely NOT the Metaverse. No one was nearly this friendly there...which kind of made sense, considering the whole "this place is the manifestation of corrupt desires" crap. No wonder Shadows wanted to kill you every chance they had. But man, what he wouldn't give to enjoy something like this once in a while.

Ryuji smirked as he picked the cherry off the ice cream, as a thought occured to him. Did Shadows even eat? Drink? Use the bathroom? There'd been a dining hall in Kamoshida's Palace, and he had some sort of weird food and drink thing when he turned into that gross-ass demon, but the guy'd never done anything but wander around and be a perverted piece of shit just like in the real world. Eh, he could just ask Morgana when he got home.

...if he got home. The second that thought popped in his mind, Ryuji shook his head as if to physically shake it out. No way, he was totally gonna get out of here! He survived his dad, he survived Kamoshida, and both guys had been way less friendly than the people he'd met here so far. Beginning to drink down his soda, Ryuji put his fear to rest for now, until a new realization dawned on him. Sakamoto-kun...? Aw, crap! He gave his real name away! Eh...that wasn't a problem, right? Wasn't like it could have any serious issues since this wasn't his own world and all. Right? That's what they said, that this was a different world? Honestly, who even knew what was going on at this point. May as well enjoy himself, if he was stuck here for a while...

"Aw man, that was great! Complimenrs to the chef...uh, whichever of you three made the drink, I mean." Nodding to the Lowain brothers, Ryuji turned to the girls. "Yeah, I ain't much for coffee, either. A buddy of mine back home is stayin' in a coffee shop though, and there've been days when he reeks of coffee beans at school!"

Ryuji took a moment to finish off his soda, wiping his mouth with his sleeve as the topic of Hawaii came up. "Hawaii, huh? I think we're supposed to go there for our school trip this year? I hope we get to go to a luau or something...those are from Hawaii, yeah? Pretty sure they're either there or Alaska..."

@Crow

"If that's the case, we better get going. I'm sure we'll figure things out somehow. Thanks guys."

"Oh! This is shrouded in mysteries that I have never stumbled upon! I'd love to accompany you and learn about that which I have not seen."

"Hold it Johann," Arusha tugs him, "you're helping me clean this mess up. Last time you went to the Forbidden Section, the Library stayed clean, but second time's the charm, and those Watchers that popped out just..."

Those michievious Primal Beasts had scattered books and stone decor all over the place. The battle afterwards only worsened things. To call it a mess was an understatement.

"Well, to be fair, it was the mu- wait, where'd your friend go, Nono?"

"If they haven't returned here, Shouko and the others who left are probably back on the Grandcypher..."

"Hmmm... think we have enough time and people if we all stayed behind to help for thirty or so minutes? I really doubt two people can't handle this chunk that easily."

"I'll see if I can gather people from the ship, then."

Gran briefly leaves the area.

A few moments later, a muscular-looking, pink-furred, humanoid cat-headed creature came along, starting to help move things to their original place with its big, bulky arms.

"MEOW."

"A bunch also went with Anya to Russia... maybe our Producer could hook a business trip up for us to go to Dubai... or Rio de Janeiro..."

"Well, I do more observing from above than actually enjoying things, so I am not too versed in reccomendations, but I do know some good coffee spots in the skies," Sandalphon contributes, "Fehrtyl Island has recently started producing a mushroom-flavoured variant of Kopi Luwak."

"Like the Bonito!"

"You should drop by Valeria Park when you have the chance," Pasha adds, "there aren't too many Theme Parks in Mistarcia, so it's always great to see one! If you're looking for an educational tour, there's always the four schools, famous for different reasons."

"You are destined to find something in Landsol, the Town of Guilds. Going beyond its borders will greet you with sights of the beautiful Astraean wilds."

Someone came down the stairs from the deck. It was Gran!

"Hello ladies and gentlemen! Am I interrupting something?"

"Hello again, Gran-sama. Is there anything you need from us?"

"The Hall of Knowledge got pretty messed up by the fight, and whatever preceded it. I was wondering if anyone wanted to contribute to putting things in place."

0qoiM7p.png

"It's my fault, isn't it?" Shouko hung her head low.

"Look, you know it's your fault, you learn from it, and you swear never to do it again," Gran smiles as he places a hand on her shoulder, "life's about making mistakes, sometimes I make almost fatal ones."

"You said it, other me!"

Another Gran walked out from the cabin areas and gave a thumbs up.

"Oh, no, no, we've already seen two Lyrias and two Sandalphons. We don't need this," Mirei shakes her head.

"Hmph, everything's so confusing!" the second Gran seemingly disappeared at the blink of an eye while a second Mirei popped out of the cabin corridors.

"Ah! You scared me!

What kind of world do you live in? Xenoglossia?
"

"OK Miku, that's enough."

A mist of pink smoke surrounded the second Mirei, only to reveal a strange looking cat as it dispelled, complete with attire out of feudal Japan(without the bottoms) and fur that swayed like smog.

eFM7UDY.jpg

"Meow..."

The cat-like being altered its body shape with what could be inferred as a shapeshifting ability of sorts, now standing upright, humanoid and exaggeratingly muscular in build.

"MEOW."

The strange cat bellowed in a deep voice as it proceeded to walk up the deck, a thud being heard as it landed on the island's soil, walking towards the Hall of Knowledge to offer its assistance, smacking its fists in the process, most of the latter process observable through the window by all. Mirei stared in shock.

"Wha- what was that?"

"A friend I met at Gravity Falls. Same place I learned about the existence of America and Dinosaurs. Long story."

"Gran? You mean like... the Gran I'm looking for?" Pasha gasps.

"That's right! Now you just have to look for Djeeta!"

"Wait, are we talkin' best spots back home? Cuz I know a ramen shop over in Ogikubo that'll blow your socks off!" Ryuji's mood had become far more casual as he chattered along with the others here. They all seemed pretty cool, and plus the melon soda had put him in a good mood. Why not enjoy himself while he was stuck here?

But it seemed that all came to an end as this Gran guy showed up. "Aw, man! We gotta clean up the mess from the fight? It's not our fault we got attacked!"

"What I speak of are about important artifacts known as the Bahamut Totems and the World Gears."

"Oh, you mean those things that Johann just talked about while a chunk of us were in the Hall of Knowledge?"

"How is it possible that such information is present in your libraries? Nevertheless, this saves time," Pasha replies, "this is about the Grid Gear, that symbolizes this realm and its many incarnations. When the Grid Gear falls, it splits into four, that go to-"

"The islands which Tiamat, Collosus, Leviathan and Yggdrasil inhabit, is that correct?"

"-indeed. The four pieces represent tetraelements, and will be drawn to the strongest Primal of each element that inhabits each island. I would reccommend that no matter your path, your second destination should be the ..., and your last destination should be ...."

"And how will we find the Bahamut Totems?"

"You will have to rely on fate for that - and of course - the Lyrias' abilities to sense them. They emit a similiar, but diluted version of the presence that Primals emit, so if by chance a Primal is one of them, you have no chance of sensing it."

Pasha looks towards the others and bows.

"I thank you for your hospitality. Whatever questions you have, I cannot answer right now, but I am certain that we will meet again."

She leaves the giant flight boat via the door, seeming to just vanish, likely through the same way she came.

A few scenes, the cleaning of the Hall of Knowledge, a well-hearted goodbye to our librarian friends and repeated stabbing of the Skip button later, the Grandcypher, while it flew in the endless skies, began to approach an island, covered by jungle and forest.

"The forest is always a pleasing sight to behold," Kokkoro says as she looks at the distant island.

"D- depends on what we're doing there," Nono looks towards Kokkoro, her usual sheepish self.

"There are many things in the many worlds that strike great fear in the hearts of many, Morikubo-sama, but the forest while I am closeby is not one of them," Kokkoro adds as she continues to pat Nono's head. "Hmmm... I am always on the recieving end of this... to do this to others... it feels great... I want to do this forever."

"Fuhihi... is this a game?" Shouko asks as she starts to do whatever Kokkoro was doing.

"Every damn time," Mirei and Kyaru sighed in unison, rubbing their foreheads.

"OK gang!" Gran exclaims for all to hear, "we're almost at the Lumacie Archipelago!"

"So, Gran," Yuuki adds, "you wanna give us a rundown on the place? It's most of our first times here."

"There will be no need for him to do that, young man," a voice emerged from behind all. When they turned behind, they would see what appeared to be an old woman who would be recognised by the Grandcypher crew members as being centuries old and has the physical appearance and brittle back matching her age a young, peppy, forever-seventeen young woman who was most young and energetic.

"After all, I'm the one who actually lived there before most of you were born. And if I haven't introduced myself, call me Rosetta."

A young lady from a land of frost was in deep slumber. She could percieve that which her mind could, but anything before her, not so.

"She sure sleeps like a log..."

"That's an understatement if I ever saw one."

She would instinctively, eventually awaken. Her eyes were clearly facing a ceiling, and she would see two faces before her that were slowly clearing up from a filter of grogginess. Her head was resting on what she could assume was a bed, pillow or plush item of sorts.

It was a bed, evidently.

Kasumi_%28game%29.png

"You're finally awake! Had a good rest?"

GaJQMJL.png

"You know, it's been so many hours I actually forgot where you said you carried her all the way from."

"You know, you're pretty forgetful for a self-proclaimed Great Detective."

"Hey, uh... sometimes, you gotta ditch some of the old to adapt to the new. That's how us detectives adapt to the modern age, ain't that right?!"

"It's been hours, not years. And that does not apply to this context. Are you actually a-"

"Yes."

Fjorm sat up in the bed and looked around. She coughed into the blanket.

"Thank you..." She said, looking around. "Where's Kiran?" She asked, regarding the hero that had saved her last time.

Ryuji was a bit miffed that he had to clean up, but on the bright side, soon they were off to...shit, what were they trying to do again? He forgot as soon as she walked in. Man this Rosetta...she was cute!

"Hey," he said as suavely as he could (which wasn't very suave at all). "The name's Ryuji."

"Who is this Kiran? Your boyfriend?" the burly, horned man asked.

"Well," the animal-eared young lady spoke, "when my assistant and I found you in the middle of the Tarvi Dunes, we only managed to find you. There was absolutely zero evidence of you going to or from anywhere, and absolutely no sign that anyone else was there. Simply put - wherever you came from, you came alone."

As Fjorm looked around, she would see two others in the room.

The first was an elven woman, standing beside Fjorm's lance that leaned against the wall, standing beside another, different lance that presumably belonged to her.

"Y- you're welcome..."

The second was a woman, whom in terms of height, was the shortest of all in the room. It could be inferred that she was of the same race as the burly horned man.

"Hold up, Tarvi Dunes? That place is dangerous, in more ways than one!"

"My hunch told me to go there, I followed it, and I got results."

"Occasionally, young people who don't know any better go there to pick a golden flower of legend. All things considered, you have less of a reason to go there than them."

"Well, here's your golden flower of legend right here, I'm a young person, I didn't know any better, I found her, I picked her up, and I picked her good," the animal-eared person comments, then turns to Fjorm, "... what was your name again?"

" So, fitting with the theme of everything here, what can you tell us about the place we have to enter? Any rules or customs that we need to worry about?" He asked.

"Well, good to meet you too, Ryuji~," Rosetta smiles back in her usual fashion, so to speak, "had a good day?"

She then turns to Ian. "The people of Lumacie don't turn visitors away, neither are they pursued should they enter or leave. That's their way of life. They live hidden in the trees, observing all from above. If anything or anyone is the slightest bit defensive, it's the Monsters that thrive."

"Lumacie's a lot less hostile than most of the places we've been," Djeeta adds as she walks towards and stands beside Rosetta, facing all as well, "I think it's because Yggdrasil herself is really nice, and Primal Beasts tend to have a big influence on the island they're bound to in more ways than one."

"That's one way to word it."

"And certainly fortuitous for us!"
Ladiva stepped up to the chatting group. "A path of diplomacy is so more satisfying then a path of violence!"

" I will be the first to admit that I am happy that the first place we go to isn't a place where we have to fight. So the only thing we need to worry about is monsters, that makes me feel very relieved.""

"I believe we are here."

"Definitely looks like the place."

"This is the place!"

As everyone left the comfort of the ship's deck, they would find themselves on grassy fields and greeted by lush jungles tempting them in. A aura of positivity filled the air as each group member's shoes (or lack thereof) would come into contact with what is most of their first experience with the soils of Lumacie.

"So the plan is to find Yggdrasil. I have been waiting to see her again myself."

"I'm sure she'd be happy to see us!" (Crow)Lyria chirped.

"And nothing will hinder our homely visit!"

As they ventured into the forests, one of their first sights would be what appeared to be a residential area. It was a very shallow trip, with not too much room to lose your way. Their goal was likely deeper within the forests of this place. You could choose the venture a bit deeper while waiting for the others, urging everyone to move on, or you could browse the area.

"Lumacie definitely feels welcoming," Kokkoro adds.

"Morikubo... doesn't know... Lumacie is very dense..."

"Breathe in, Morikubo-sama," Kokkoro adds, "and breathe out like this...

♫ Aaa... ♫ aaAaa... ♫ AaaaAaaAaa~"

"♫ Aaa ... ♫ aaAaa... ♫ AaaaAaaAaa~"

A couple of birds flew from the foliage, their wings fluttering as they landed on the pair of green-motifed girls respective fingers. The docile winged creatures warmed up to them near immediately, recognising them as no threat.

"I still don't know how she does that," Mirei adds as she observes them, "well, you can't convince me that this place doesn't have aggressive bears and wolves that'll charge at us, so... yeah. I'll go there when you all go there."
