unexpected friends

Holt leaned against the glass railing on the wide balcony. He would prefer to smoke his cigarettes inside, but he was for Faith to arrive. They had much to discuiss.

"A goddamn time traveller... What kind of mess did I get myself into?" he thought to himself as he took a long drag of his cigarette.

Faith walked onto the balcony. She was moving much better, though she knew that in this "modern day" she would have to move carefully so as not to re-open the wound or do more damage. This was going to be an interesting conversation. She had her translator turned to only translate other languages to English for her comfort, and so that the translator didn't accidentally translate her words into the native language of the others around her. That would be really hard to explain, after all.

"I'm aware it's none of my business. But what did your headquarters say?" he took another drag.

"Not a whole lot. I got the tech I need, and can give it out as long as I get it back before I leave. Beyond that, there's not much they can say."

"Fair enough. May I see this 'Tech'?"

"Yeah. You actually know about all this, and it could help you out. I can show you how to work it, if you decide you need it." Faith fished one of the extra translators out of her pocket and handed it to Carl. It was small, not microscopic by any means, but still small. "It's a general translator. It can translate the known human languages and a few alien ones. I've never heard Clark speak his own language, so it may or may not recognize his language and translate it."

"Fascinating..." he said as he took the small device, "How do I use it exactly?"

"Here, this here," Faith gestured to an outer ring, "changes the language you can understand. I have all of them set on general translation, so you'll understand all the languages it automatically translates. This here, "she gestured to a small red button, "is a button that allows the translator to listen to new languages and work out a translation. It'll get better as it hears the new language more often. And finally this," she gestured to a small green button, "changes whether or not the translator translates what you say into other languages. I could go a little further, because there is a way to translate into only one language while understanding them all, but that's where it gets complicated. This simple stuff will due at least until you get used to using it. For right now, it's been set up like mine, so you understand all languages while you can't speak any of them. Oh, and the buttons are colored not only so that you can tell which is which, but also because they're really small and would be hard to see otherwise."

"Fuck me sideways... Alright, I think I'll manage." he said as he hid it away. "So, you interested in how I met that wierdo?"

"Definitely."

Holt took a long drag of his cigarette before throwing it off the balcony.

"Alright." he said in a hush tone, "It all started two days ago if I'm not mistaken. I was driving in my car, making my way to my home town close to the black forrest. I was smoking a cigarette juta as I was a few seconds ago, until I saw something strange. At first, I thought it was a shoting star or something alike, but I was wrong. It was a damn spaceship. I wasn't terribly interested in it, believe it or not. As I drove down the road further, I saw someone. And you guessed it, that someone was our good friend Clark. To spare you the unnecessary details, he tried to steal my damn car. How you ask? Well, it would see that he was able to turn his finger into some kind of gas, if that makes any sense. But I managed to catch up to him on foot. Don't ask how. It was then that he also revealed another ability, shapeshifting. We then made peace and I took him over to my place so he could get some rest. After a long morning and some other bullshit along the way. We got here. Not much after that honestly. Oh, and he also likes human food."

"So he's some kind of shapeshifter, then. I'll have to discover his species to see if he's one of the few we know about. But I doubt it. We've discovered maybe four separate species since we knew aliens existed. One of which lead to these being possible." Faith gestured to her ears.

"Intriguing, but highly disturbing."

"How so?" Faith asked.

"I find the fact that humans would willingly screw an alien disturbing. That's all." Holt pointed out.

"Honestly, they didn't know, not until much later. Outside of the ears, and maybe how tall they were, those specific aliens looked like humans. Well, I mean, they're also stronger, faster, more agile, and far far more advanced in tech as well."

"Fair points, but still, somewhat disturbing."

Faith shrugged, "I suppose so. I never really thought of it that way. But then again, I don't exactly come from this time period."

Holt shrugged and pulled out his flask filled to the brimm with cherry brandy. He took a sip before offering some to Faith.

"It will take your mind off the pain."

Faith looked at him. "No thanks. I need to stay sober if I want to do my job properly."

"Suit yourself." he said as he resumed drinking. After a few gulps, he put it away. "Guess I better order some food for the room. I'm hungry as hell." he said as he moved back to the living room.

"Yeah, you'd probably better." Faith said, as she followed.

Blue winter rose
Anne stood up as soon as Carl and faith walked back into the living room. It felt odd to her they had walked to the balkony but, she hadn't dare to interupt them. "How bad is it?" she asked glancing in the direction of aiths wound.
The_Dujke

"The wound wasn't all that bad." Holt said in a light tone, "Doctor Carl fixed her right up!" he said in a joking manner.

AlissaMing

Faith rolled her eyes. "It wasn't that bad, Anne." She agreed. "The worst that was happening was my body was trying to go into shock. Though I suppose it could have gotten bad if it hadn't been treated." She was moving much better, though was being careful. 'Modern' medicine was a royal pain. If she could have done so without blowing her cover, she would have asked for some of the medicine from her time. It would have healed her much quicker without causing skin to break. As it was, she had to worry about breaking the stitches and starting the bleeding all over again. This was going to make things rather tough.

Silence

Clark moved over to stand a bit closer to the others. He didn't find their conversation terribly interesting. Even if he didn't know all the words, he could tell that the general conversation was about the wound. These people were strange. They seemed to fixate on odd things. An injury wasn't really that serious. Just out of curiosity he moved closely enough to grab the edge of Faith's shirt. He wanted to lift it up and get a look at that injury.
Blue winter rose

Anne nodded,"Thank you,"she said to Carl. "Hey, don't do that," Anne calledat the weird man whilst she stepped in their direction making clear with with gestures that he had to let go of the shirt. Angry and a bit shocked of the man's action she looked him it the eyes.
AlissaMing

Faith looked over at Anne as she thanked Carl, and felt Clark grab her shirt to lift it up. She pulled away from him, quickly. Though she was careful not to rip the shirt. She knew he was an alien, and likely didn't know human customs. Unfortunately, until the translators had begun to translate his native language, trying to teach him human custom would be nigh on impossible.
The_Dujke

Holt stood there and processed the entire situation. He almost laughed at how stupid it was. "My apologies. My friend here is so retarded he can't even be called a vegetable anymore. He is bound to do stupid shit." he said as a matter-of-factly, "I'm also his wrangler in some way. But be careful around him, sisnce I won't always be there to keep him in check. For an example, like right now." he said as he took a few gulps out of his flask, "Anyway, who's hungry?"(gewijzigd)

Silence

Clark knew the word stupid and he shot a look at Holt. Of course he was going to call him stupid. How was he to know that the females would react so poorly to this. He simply wanted to see the injury. Dropping the shirt he glowered and looked from one person to the next. "Fine." Mumbling in their language he turned away and sighed. Why were they so difficult?

Blue winter rose

Anne shook her head,"No, I am fine,"she said she had just eaten a couple of hours ago but, even if she hadn't she doubt if she would be hungry after the events that happends afterwards. She looked at the man supriced as she heard him speak in english. "So you do speak a bit f english?" she called out being aware of the fact that, that might be the only word he knew. Or maybe he could english/ german but, he just couldn't speak.

The_Dujke

"Yes, yes,... He does speak a bit..." He glanced at Clark as he went for the service phone, "But in any case. He can't hold a conversation with anybody." Holt put the phone to his ear as he finished speaking. "Hello? Room service?" "Yes, how may I help?" a male voice responded. "We would like to have some food delivered to our room?" "What would you like?" "I don't know, surprise us." Holt responded blandly. "Um, alright. What room are you residing in?" "Track the ID." Holt said as he cut the line. "Well, food is on it's way, I hope." He stated. "So why don't we all just relax a bit. It would do all of us some good." with this, Holt walked past the three of them and started moving the couch in the direction of the television. "How about," he paused " a movie cinema?" He asked with a polite smile.
AlissaMing

Faith looked over at Clark. She saw the confusion on his face and she wished they spoke the same language. Humans were testy about their privacy and personal space, and Faith was worse than most with how many secrets she was keeping hidden away. She turned her attention to Holt who mentioned 'movies' which she personally had never really experienced. She knew what they were and how they worked. Heck, the holo dramas she was used to were a close equivalent. Same idea, different medium. And as a rule of thumb, she knew how to operate such out of date equipment simply because it wasn't out of date at this time. And it would look weird if she didn't know how to use a shower. Still, she was eager to see how these movies matched up to the holos she was used to.
Silence

That man, Holt, he was trouble. With a growl of irritation he wandered into the living room toward the couch. There was enough space for three. Sitting in a huddle was a nice common practice and Clark decided he may as well. Sitting down with the two that were already on the couch he grinned. Holt was in charge for now, but Clark was sure that soon enough they'd be in a situation and then he could take control. He was almost ready to take control of the group. Most of their words were easy to follow and now all he had to do was wait for the right time to speak.

Blue winter rose

Anne raised her eyebrows at the what seemed complete insane action of the man. They just survived a shooting and he was just going to watch a movie. "I don't know how these things go, aren't they going to find us? I was planning on going home tomorow my parent would be worried" she said half to the couch as she moved her weight from one leg to the other.
AlissaMing

"You should probably call them. Just to say hi. As for what to do next, I don't think we'll need to lay low too long. Hopefully, still a movie would be a good way to pass the time." Faith had to mentally stop herself from saying holo, using movie instead, without too much of a pause. "Actually, when we leave this place, I'll need to grab a change of clothes and maybe even take a shower. My shirt is ruined." She went over to the couch, but didn't sit down, eyeing the TV with a curiosity she found it hard to hide. She didn't see many buttons, but knew there was a remote around here somewhere. But she didn't dare pick it up. She doubted she'd actually be able to use the thing.
The_Dujke

Holt sat crroked on the couch with his flask in his hand. "If I wanted to let you leave so soon, I wouldn't have brought you here in the first place. There are two reasons you are here." he said as he glanced at Anne, "The first reason is so you don't get attacked again. It would have been pointless to help you only for you to get in trouble again. The second reason is purely so you don't snitch on me. We wouldn't want that now would we?" Holt said as he drank from hi flask. He stood up and made his way twards the liquor shelf. He picked a bottle of cherry brandy. He began to speak as he started to fill the now empty flask."Speaking of leaving. Faith, if you don't have a place to stay, I could ask my friend to book a room. Hell, for you and Anne." once he finished, he placed back the bottle of liquor back on it's shelf.

Silence

As soon as the woman was standing near the couch Clark glanced at her. He'd seen this in a few of these movies and decided to give it a try. "Hey, get down in front!" She wasn't standing directly in front of him, but he figured that it was the phrase to tell someone a movie was playing. According to these movies, it was only proper to sit when viewing.

Blue winter rose

Anne nodded, as she thought about what to tell him she was sure that if she would give even the smallest hint something was up her father would imidiately come in action. As she glanced at Holt she realized that maybe that wouldn't have been that bad of an idea. With the man holding them in his room, she might need him to do so. Yet again she might get into big problems with Carl. "Yes, thank you,' she said to Carl taking the offer. Eventhough she didn't trust the man she still perfered being in a room with Faith then all alone. She reached out for her phone and went to the family app. Calling would very likely hinted her father something was up. She didn't wanted him to get stressed she was fine she could care of herself, she told herself but, inside she had to admit she was scared. As she hovered over her phone trying to formulate a message she heard Clark say a full sentence yet again. "What does he means?" she asked.
The_Dujke

"He probably wants you to sit in front of the sofa." he shrugged "But feel free to do as you please." Holt went to look up a movie they could watch. He didn't really watch movies, so he didn't know many by name. "Hmm, any of you have an idea for a movie we could watch?"

AlissaMing

Faith shrugged, and stood behind the couch. She left the last space for Anne, if she wanted it, and then answered Carl's question. "I don't have any suggestions." Most of the stuff she was familiar with hadn't been created yet, so her suggestions or references would go right over their heads.

Silence

Staring from one person to the next Clark couldn't help feeling a little frustrated. How could these humans be so indecisive. "Give me." Beckoning to the control he looked at Holt. If they couldn't decide what to do, or if they didn't want to try turning the old hologram on, then he would do it.
Blue winter rose

On the end she decided not to tell her father about what exactly hapened. He would likely freak out, that she had trust stranger and hadn't call him before. She also had the feeling her father would likely just come in to make things worse. She was an adult now, she could take care of herself beside, Faith was there as well. Without her she would have called way earlier. Instead of that she just did a short text, that Fleur had asked her to help her with her apratment tomorow. So she would come later. It was tricky bussness and in worse case scenerio her parents would somehow contract Fleur. Anne knew Fleur she would cover for her but, wouldn't rest until she had answers. When she was done texting she put her phone away. That was done. "You have Netflix? Videoland?" she asked as she sat down on the couch.(gewijzigd)
The_Dujke

"I don't even know what that is..." he murmured. He started to open and close every menu on the television. Nothing was working. Holt was getting agitated more and more with each consecutive failure. "You know what? Fuck it!" he pinched the bridge of his nose and handed the the remote over to Anne. "Here, have it. Hopefully you know how to use this thing..."

AlissaMing

Faith watched Carl give the remote to Anne and smiled. She would have thought that Carl would have been just as capable as Anne at working a remote. Not that she cared to give it a try. Oh, she could probably make the thing work, but she preferred to have to work with such old tech as little as possible. She knew the terms Netflix, though she'd never heard of Videoland, so she said, "Netflix is a streaming service. About $30 in American currency a month. It has quite a few movies and television shows, though not all of them. I'm not sure what Videoland is myself, though."

Silence

Of course Holt was far from helpful. He actually managed to completely ignore the comment. Perhaps the phrase 'give me' wasn't right. With a growl he leaned closer to Anne and beckoned again for the controller. "Give me." This time he was more insistent. Whatever they were doing was annoying him and he wanted to do something rather than stare at the others, or have them stare at him.
Blue winter rose

Anne took over the remote from Holt. "Well what do you like to watch?" she asked as she looked through the diffrent screens to see if there was anyway watching movies. She barely had time to figure t out before the strange man leaned over to her, to demanded the controler. A bit scared of the man she leaned back as she gave the controler. "Here, " she said.
The_Dujke

"You're giving him the remote?" he said surprised, "I just hope you know what you're doing." Holt went to take a sip from his flask. But knocking on the front door almoast made him spit it out. "Who could that be?" he wondered. Holt stood up and went to check. "The three of you, be quiet." he said as he made his way to the door. He unholstered his gun and had it at the ready. He took position behind the door. "Who is it?" he asked. For a moment there was only silence, but then came a response. "Room service." "Room service?" he repeated angrily "Why didn't you say so?." He opened the door to reveal a tall skinny african man. He was bald and black as coal. Holt looked disgusted, how could miller send someone like him to deliver food. "Sorry sir, but you didn't specify what your room was, so I couldn't be too sure." the mad replied in a thick african accent. "Fair enough, what did you bring me?" "I've brought you some ribs, roasted chicken with stuffing, a large welingham steak, french salad and - of course - beer." "I'm impressed, what do I owe you?" he said as he pulled out his wallet. "Nothing, it's on the house." he black fellow said. "I refuse to have it free, here have this, share with the kotchen." Holt stated as he handed the man a 100e bill. "Now scram." "Yes sir." the black fellow left. Holt put away his gun and took the wheel tray into their room. "Food's here." he said as he slammed the door shut.

AlissaMing

"Good," said Faith, who had, since she was behind everyone else, moved unobtrusively closer to Anne, in what she was aware Carl would recognize as a protective gesture all her own. It wasn't that she didn't trust Carl, though trust might not have been the word she would have used either, it was just the natural reaction of someone who had been trained for such a role. In fact, her hands had strayed to where her sword hilts were hidden. But as soon as Carl closed the door and yelled about food, she took her hands away, and smiled. "Oh, good." She was hungry.
Silence

Clark took the controller from Anne and he only sighed when Holt seemed to get edgy. There was no reason to be concerned. Without paying attention to the man Clark started to surf the channels and look for something interesting. What he usually found the most interesting was the news hologram. It was good to watch the news and see if there was anything new about his ship on the channels. His ship had been a big topic for a few days, though it had not been identified as a ship and he was starting to wonder what happened to it. He had to get the signal out to the rest of his people and then they would know to come here. Within a few minutes the conversation had turned to food and Clark glanced up at the others, but continued to scour the news stations for anything about his vessel.
Blue winter rose

Anne looked at the television as the strange man surfed through the diffrent channels. She nodded vagually at Carl before he disapeared in the direction of the door. As the man had returned with food she turned around in Carls direction to check on what kind of food the man was bringing in. She wasn't really hungry but, the act of eating would give them all something to do.

The_Dujke

Holt delivered the food to the couch on with little enthusiasm. "So... you find anything interesting?" he said as he sat down.

AlissaMing

"I don't know," Faith said, "I can't read a lot of the titles." She takes some of the food and starts munching on it.

Blue winter rose

Absedmindly Anne took some of the food and started putting bits and pieces in her mouth without really tasting anything. "There is quite a lot of english movies and programs on dutch television it should't be too difficult to find something, what time is it? on.. uh.." Anne stopped to think, 'half past 8, a lot of channels send out a movie,"

Silence

Clark finally came to find the channel he found the most informative and set the controller down. It was the local news station and that was exactly what he wanted to watch. There might be some interesting update on his ship in the hologram. Instead the video camera showed a short clip of them all fleeing the alley where the girls had been attacked earlier. There wasn't any direct footage of what happened, but they'd been spotted.

The_Dujke

Holt stared at the TV. He saw himself getting into his car. Thankfully he didn't have a registration plate. But what baffled him the most was that this was recorded after he had looked out for cameras. Meaning someone was just lucky, or some one got what they wanted.
Holt leaned even further into the couch. "We'll we've been seen..." he said as he sent a message to Miller, telling him to put a random registration plate on his car. "I guess we're doomed. Oh the horror."

AlissaMing

"Great...just what we needed. How on earth did we get spotted? I didn't see anyone in the alley." Faith asked.
Blue winter rose

Anne looked at herself on the screen there they were. "There must be a hidden camera somewhere or someonw filmed from out of a window," Anne tried answering Faith. Nervously she bite on her nails. this wasn't good. How was she ever going to explain this. Hopefully her father wouldn't have seen this or he would defently come here directly.

The_Dujke

"The question is whether I got sloppy or someone played us. It would explain why the two gunmen were so incompetent." he said as he casually ate some salad.(gewijzigd)

AlissaMing

Faith nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that would explain it. I mean, why bother hiring competent guards when you know you want to get a shot of something.

Blue winter rose

"Why would they do that? Sounds like a very sketchy plan." Anne judged. "I mean I highly doubt that they were expecting me too meet up with you. I mean what are the chanches?"
The_Dujke

"The chances are pretty big. Besides, anyone with an above average intelligence would have managed to change their plan within the relatively moderate time gap." he paused for a moment, as if in deep thought. "My question is, just who the fuck did you manage to get biting your tail? Because this is the definition of organized crime. And who ever is out to get you, must have a good reason."

AlissaMing

"It doesn't have to seem like a good reason to us." Faith responded, thoughtfully. "But I don't exactly see whoever this is planning like this or changing plans for no reason. I just question whether it's a reason WE would think of as good..."
Blue winter rose

Anne looked from Carl to Faith and back. She still wouldn't know why anyone would follow her. Like Fleur would us to say, she is likely the most boring people to stalk. Her father thinks diffrently about it. But, he thinks he gets followed all the time anyway. "I don't know,"she answered Carls question, then she stopped to think for a while. She had watched movies about people getting chased and kidnapped. The only reason someone like her would ever be kidnapped was because she was the daughter of girlfriend of someone who gets them angry. "Maybe," she said but, she didn't finished her sentence how could a farmer get in that kind of trouble. Eventhough he always seemed to think he did.

The_Dujke

"Go on..." Holt encouraged. Who knew? Maybe she knew something. Either way, they had a problem. He pulled out his flask and took a large gulp. He really wished they weren't followed, then again, he wouldn't be surprised to find out they were.

AlissaMing

"Anne, even a theory is better than nothing right now." Faith agreed. "You may not have a clear idea, but go ahead."
Blue winter rose

"Maybe it is because of my father, I mean I don't understand why anyone would want anything out of a farmer," she said and after a short silent she added, "he seemed to thing they do though,"
The_Dujke

A farmer? It sounded very sketchy. It wouldn't have been a big deal if he hadn't already dealt with something similar in the past. If it really was her father. Then it would make sense if he were in hiding, so to speak. Or who knows, maybe their farm was important to a mob. Who knew.

AlissaMing

Faith thought about it. "Unless there's more to your father than meets the eye, I doubt that would be it." Faith said slowly, unknowingly echoing Carl's thoughts. "Though I'm not saying it's not a possibility." She added hastily. "In fact it's the only idea we currently have, so let's go with that. But that does mean we need to figure out why they'd want to go after your father." And, she thought to herself, I need to find out if there's an angel on him too. Depending on his historical significance, it would probably be an Angel rather than an Archangel. If he doesn't have either, then I should see if I can get one assigned to him.

Blue winter rose

"How do you want to do that? If I ask him something like that, I am sure he would be here in no time," Anne asked as she looked from Faith to Carl. They likely had way more experience with things like this as she did.
The_Dujk

Holt chuckled "Well, ironically enough, all you have to do is give me the address of the farm, and the names and surnames of your family members. But I doubt you trust me that much." He said as he took a bite out of a rib.

AlissaMing

Faith waited to see what Anne would decide. If she gave Carl that info, she'd be giving Faith that info as well. Then Faith would be able to get an Angel or Archangel assigned to Anne's father.
Blue winter rose

Anne glanced over at Faith unsure what to do. She had always learned not to just gave away her information. "And how do I know you aren't part of them somehow?" she asked. 'or a member of a club that is against them or something, I don't know,"

The_Dujke

"You don't." he deadpanned. "But then again, I might be able to help."

AlissaMing

Faith saw Anne’s glance, and was astonished that Anne seemed to trust her so much so fast. But she shrugged at Anne, “Unfortunately, the decision is up to you. I don’t know how wise it is, but I’m sure even if he was working for the other side, you’re father would be perfectly safe.” <Or he will be as soon as I know where to get an Angel or Archangel sent> Faith thought to herself
Blue winter rose

"You don't know that," Anne answered. Eventhough she trust the woman more then the man afterall he was the one starting to shoot but, her fathers words to not trust anyon still echooed through her head. On the other hand if he wanted to do something bad how difficult could it really be for him to get the information out of her by force or just a intense search on the internet. "How would you figure out if my father was into somethig by knowing my surname and the adress of my farm," Anne said. "I doubt my surname would be that much of help, it is pretty common," she added.
The_Dujke

"Trust me, I know what I'm asking for." he assured her. "By giving me the information I'm asking for, I might be able to find out who's after you. I know it doesn't sound like it makes sense. But believe me, it works."
Blue winter rose

"Can't you tell me how you do it?" Anne asked trying to figure out another way, but she feared that in order to get anyway she had to give the man the information.
The_Dujke

"No."
AlissaMing

Faith said, “I’m guessing your dad told you not to trust strangers. But sometimes you have no choice but to trust.

Blue winter rose

Anne sighed deep. " Ok then, you have a piece of paper?" she asked
The_Dujke

Holt pulled out a pen and a peace of paper and gave it with little to no enthusiasm. "Just don't give me fake names. This is for your own good."(gewijzigd)
AlissaMing

Faith pulls out a pen, though she would have preferred a stylus and tablet herself. She handed it to Anne. “Not gonna write very much without a pen or pencil. Not on paper anyway.”
Blue winter rose

"Thank you," Anne said as she took over the pen and paper. Then she wrote down her lastname"Jansen" andthe adres of the farm as neatly as she got. Still not very happy with giving the information to a stranger. "Something else you need to know? My mothers maiden name firstnames?" she asked. If she was going to give information it be better be enough to reach the goal.

The_Dujke

"This should do." he said as he took the piece of paper. "Now if you won't mind, I'll need some privacy." Leaving the girls behind, Holt went out into the terrace began typing in the information into his phone. Sending it to someone who might be able to find something out.

AlissaMing

Faith made a note of the name and address. He was a farmer, now she just needed an excuse to get away from Anne for a moment. Not for long, just long enough to get an angel assigned to him.
Blue winter rose

Anne nodded as the man left the room leaving her alone with Faith and the other strange man. Nervous she looked in the direction of the door. "Would he be able to figure it out you think?" she asked

AlissaMing

“Carl’s a smart guy. He’ll be fine. What about you, Anne? How are you doing?”

Blue winter rose

Anne glanced down at her hands, "I am fine, why do you think he is helping us?' Anne asked. "He doesn't look like the kind of type that does things like this out of the goodness of his heart."

The_Dujke

Holt ran his fingers through his hair. It's been a while since he called this man. He didn't really have anyone else to turn to. He began to dial in the number. "Well, here goes nothing I suppose." he said as he pressed "call". He waited, and wited some more, and just as he was about to give up. He heard it. "Who is this?" asked a voice witch sounded like it would belong to a grumpy old man. "It's me Holt." "Holt?! What the hell! I tould not to call me after last time!" "Look, what happened last time was a misunderstanding." "Misunderstanding my ass! You almost got me arrested!" the yelled. "So what the hell do you want?" Holt gaining an opportunity to breathe, said "I've got a name, nothing special, just need you to run a background check." "Fine, but you'll owe me a big favour." "Alright, I"ll send you the info." Holt said as he hung up. He got lucky.
AlissaMing

“You shouldn’t judge based on appearance alone. It’s possible that he saw two women who needed help, and decided to help. But I don’t know him well enough to know for sure.”
Blue winter rose

"It isn't just appearance, I mean..." Anne said. "It is also the fact the way he killed those people< I don't know I get bad vibes from that man."

AlissaMing

“I’ll admit I’m not sure about him either, Anne. But killing people isn’t a sign of being a bad person, I hope you know. Just a thought.” Faith said.
Blue winter rose

"If killing isn't a sign of being a bad person, what is?" Anne asked.

“It depends on why one kills. If someone is trying to kill you, is it bad to kill them first? Not normally. It’s self defense. So why is it bad to kill defending another. I would understand if he was killing people who’d never hurt anyone. But so far he hasn’t. At least not in front of us.

Anne nodded, "Still," she said softly looking in the direction of the door.

“I’m not saying you’re wrong to not entirely trust him, Anne,” Faith pointed out. “You should always trust your instincts, they may be wrong, but it’s better to be safe. I’m just saying that it sounds like you’re trying to justify why you don’t trust him. But you shouldn’t have to justify. All you need is to admit you have a bad feeling.” Faith smiled slightly.

Holt returned with good news. "So, I have someone looking through some old documents and such. It will take some time."

Anne lays on a mattress on the floor and stared at the ceiling. She couldn't sleep not after what happened earlier that day. Her thoughts tumbled over each other as she tried to order them. She was scared, who knows if she could trust any of the other three adults in the apartment. Her dad would likely get mad if he heard she dared to go along with them. She didn't like putting everything on the man but, what could she do. Should she try to escape? Tried to talk to her father? He would probably just freak out but, he would get her safe she knew that. But, a little part inside of her didn't want to depend on him didn't want to admit she made a mistake. Wanted to show she could fix her own problems.

Should she call the cops? The man forbade her to do so but, they would likely be more able to keep her safe. If they believed her. She wanted to do something anyway. She hated laying her letting others fix the problem. She was scared for the man hunting her down. And that made her angry, why did they want to hurt her. What did she do? And at that moment she pitied it the man had killed them all. They should have asked. Would they be able to that? Anne wondered as went back in time in her thought playing everything off once again, trying to figure out how she end up here.

Faith had to make her call before she could sleep. She was a light sleeper by nature, but all mortals needed sleep. That said, she could run on less at need than most people. She waited for Anne to not be watching her, and retreated to the bathroom. This was going to be a long conversation, and she couldn't give away who she was. Carl knew. But she couldn't let Anne know. Besides, Anne would never believe her.

Faith activated her com, "Command, come in."

"Go ahead, Archangel Derwan," said the voice of her commanding officer.

"I've got a name and address for you of someone who needs to be protected. He's supposedly a farmer, and he's the father of Anne. Whatever this girl is wrapped up in, her father's part of it too."

"Got it. We'll get someone on it. Do you think he'll need an Archangel?"

"Not sure. Might not hurt."

"Alright. We'll get someone over there."

This was a nice mess he had gotten himself into. As he sat there with booze in his left hand and a cigarette in the other, he asked himself internally; "Why am I doing this, why am I helping her. How did I get myself into this mess." As soon as he finished that thought, he remembered. That damn alien. Clark. He should have never pulled over to help. And even after he did that, why did he try to help Anne. He was a professional, but what he did then was amateur. Did he really sink so low? As he thought internally, an extremely dangerous and foolish idea came to mind. But the more he thought about it, it became slightly less foolish.

"Shit... It would only be fair. I guess..." he murmured. What the hell did he know about fair anyway.

He put out his cigarette and placed the booze back on it's shelf. He would have to have a chat with Faith again, in private... again.
