LORDKHAOS

KHAOS KOMES!
So Nos Malus Infinitum is a little universe that I'm somewhat developing.
It is inspired of Star Wars, Star Trek, Warhammer 40k(A lot of references to it here) and many other science fiction and fantasies.
What I was trying to make was a Grimdark Universe that doesn't take itself seriously.(Like the early days of Warhammer 40k). A lot of stereotypes will and shall exist.

This is the backstory I have developed so far. They are listed in order
bear in mind the years listed are Earth years

3500s~3900s

Humanity seems to have put aside their quarrels for the time being as they stand united. Together they reached out among the stars, seeking to find their destiny among it.
Within 300 years, the Milky Way was entirely colonized.
Humanity became the dominant race within the Milky Way. Human Metropolises sprung up upon almost every planet, Artificial Worlds with populations to several billions were constructed and the Dominion's great army and navy swelled in the Tens of Trillions.
From gene-infused, armor plated warriors to psionic soldiers to Battle Mages with enchanted weapons
Legions of Automated AI Grids and GMWs or Genetically Modified Weapons, creatures created in specialized vats for war.

Although labeled Dominion, it was a loose coalition of human star nations held together for mutual protection.

There were brief wars here and there but there are a few unique locations in the Dominion.

First off, the massive Blackhole in the middle of the Milky Way, known as "The Great Tear", radiates psyhic energies. Many planets near there have natural born psyhics although one could genetically be engineered to become one but it is a hard process and you are never as good as a natural born psyhic.

Second off, the Great Portal is a massive dormant Warpgate that exists in the East. It is an ancient construct that is most likely used by a far more civilized race that might have killed themselves off.
Due to studying this, the Dominion managed to manufacture their own warpgates. Not as strong as the ancient ones but gets the job done. Capable of traveling to about 20 to 30 star systems in a jump.

Third off, Rune Worlds are ancient worlds filled with magical artifacts and items. It teems with sorcery and is the birthplace of mages. Magic flows through the world and sometimes into the people itself, making them mages. The offspring of a mage who became one due to living on a Rune World become a natural mage themselves.

The Dominion by 3700s have sent out multiple inter-galactic expeditions to the Andromedan Galaxy and set up colonies there. It seems as if humanity has set aside their differences... or HAVE they?

It wouldn't be fun if there weren't a few genocides, a few planetary annihilation or a few intergalatic invasions, am i right?
Buckle up, madams and bois, this is going to be a ride!

4000s ~ 4500s

Remember the colonies in Andromeda? Yes? Great.
Let's say colonizing distant locations never went well.

First off, being foreigners, the native denizens of Andromeda are not every pleased.
From now on we will label the native Andromedans as "Natives" and the colonists as "Andromedans".
Tensions flared up in Border Conflicts and sometimes planetary raids.

The colonies in Andromeda were like
"Hey, pal. Can we like... increase our military strength?"

The Dominion was like
"NO! How can we be sure you won't one day try to revolt because we did something like... you know raising your taxes because we need to fund something?"
Spoilers... They did. AND as you know, taxation without representation has SEVERE consequences...
Like a birth of a new nation that becomes stronger than the parent nation in several hundred years...

ANYWAYS
The Andromedans were somewhat bummed.
And the raids continued.
The Andromedan colonies consists of about 120 systems.
And their standing army equaled to about 20 billion, small compared to what a standard Terran Sector was allowed to field.
Their navy was merely around 1,300 vessels and 10 Capital Ships.
Not enough to even stop mere piracy.

As such, the Andromedans grow restless as the Dominion had more problems to deal with. as they have detected a massive force of unknown beings encroaching from the East of the Milky Way.

The Terrans were taking no chances and proceeds to set up extensive fortifications but due to capitalism, requires funding.
Where did they get the funding?
Fucking Andromedan taxation.

The Andromedans were pissed.
First off, the Terrans can;t even protect them.
Second, they increase taxes.
Thirdly, they have to fend for themselves with a limited budget.

So the Andromedans were like
"You know what? Fuck it!"

And the Andromedans declared independence in 4300s.
The Terrans were like "Woah! Woah! Buddy... you can't just say you are independent"
The Andromedans were like "We didn'ts say it.. We DECLARED IT"

And the Andromedan Rebellion occured.
Because defending their home galaxy is less important than quelling some wannabe separatists in another galaxy was important, they slowed down their fortification projects and invested in trying to suppress the uprising.

The war dragged on for 3 galactic years when the Terrans realized something.
They hadn't finished their fortification projects.
That's when the intergalactic threat slammed into their under-budgeted defenses.

The Terrans allowed the Andromedans to be free and whatever in 4470.
They then have their armies and navies in Andromeda rush back to join the defending armies but the damage was done.

The Terrans lost 30 billion in their Andromedan War
The Andromedans lost 25 billion in it.
Both sides almost bankrupted themselves in the war

The eastern most Desdrian Sector laid ravaged.
Around 650 systems were decimated and consumed by a Devouring Hive Mind.
