"Hm. I've yet to encounter any trouble that a loaded bolter hasn't solved."

Titus continued walking. It is clear that he has absolutely no intention of taking anything that comes out of Raven's mouth as truth.

Sekiro followed a little bit behind Titus as he attempted to enter the forest, but he stopped as the party insisted that they wait. He wasn't a fan of hesitation, especially when it involved one of Kuro's orders.
As Titus continued walking he suddenly found Bayonetta standing in front of him. "Oh I know you and that frowny face are always in a hurry, darling. But consider this." She leaned in like she was going to kiss him but instead whispered into his ear. "I do not trust that many any more than you do, and that's why I think it will be smarter to have him near rather than far. If he tries anything you have my permission to pump him up with so many holes you'd think he was Swiss Cheese. Deal?" She leaned back with a smile on her face her voice loud enough for the others to hear. "Now wasn't that something exciting? I bet you don't meet many girls who do that now do you?"

Becoming slightly restless, he let out a barely audible sigh as Bayonetta did her thing. "It was not," he responded dully before turning to Raven. "Do what must be done. I would rather not keep my lord waiting."

" I'm not too keen on splitting up, but I think I want to go with the guy into the forest. Something about the checkpoint makes me uneasy, especially since the guards aren't something we are good at dealing with. We barely got the information we needed because we all kind of suck at digging up gossip."

"I could only dream of a world free from the influence of witches and sorcery," Titus remarked with his usual flat tone, trudging up next to Raven and the others. "It is no wonder the people here are so well off."

In all his years of battle, Titus has never seen any good come out of psykers and their machinations. He can hardly call it a tactically sound decision to risk the purity of one's soul in the pursuit of immeasurable power. Graia fell into the palms of Traitor Astartes because of a corrupted psyker, and it would be a psyker who led the blasphemous forces to spill any Imperial blood that hadn't already been defiled by the Greenskins. Even the Librarians of the Ultramarines, though they are battle-brothers all the same, tow that line every time they open their mind to the horrors of the Immaterium.

This wouldn't be the first time he's heard the word 'magic' be applied to the work of witches and psykers, and it continues to be an apt descriptor. There's nothing magic can do that loaded gun, well-oiled chainsword, and sheer spirit can't do better.

Titus regarded Raven with a curious stare, his steely gaze evoking his distrust for the man's hidden motivations. It is only instinct to distrust anyone and everyone who offers to help, mainly since Titus has long carried the weight of a renegade upon his pauldrons.

"... Very well. We will march to Halure, then. Onwards."

The Space Marine slammed a fresh clip into the Storm Bolter fastened on his left gauntlet, ensuring that the rest of his arsenal was loaded, primed, and charged. He would begin to tread down the path towards Halure with the rest of the party once they started their march, practically spearheading their advance with the rate at which he walked.

"In my world, magic is only a work of fiction from the Pre-War era, nothing more." Commented as he watched around the group.

"Wait a second..." Little My says, sniffing a little, "if you're going through the forest, then who's going to accompany us through the checkpoint?"

Something here is fishy, it's not adding up to the small woman, and she wants to get down to the bottom of it.

"Besides, who's to say that you aren't one of those witches? Witches are very deceitful if I recall my experiences with one."

Little My begins to think, and a smirk forms on her face.

"Yes, I can see right through your plan. You're gonna lead the forest group into the forest to get us all killed, while the guards to Halure are gonna kill the checkpoint group because of insufficient passes. You're a sneaky one, aren't you..."

@Jeremi @amwexia @Takumi @Yun Lee @Donder172 @Ver @Ottonomous Ghost @Alex Azure @Everybody
"Assuming they can kill us. If you want, I can accompany you to the checkpoint or go through the forest. I'm sure once they figure out what this shoots, they'll have any second thoughts about attacking any of us." Courier Six said as he taps on the front of Esther. "Besides, I am sure our blue armored friend can deal with them pretty much on his own."

However, the ordnance would be unsuitable for an urban environment, at least if you had any care about said environment. He somewhat did care, seeing how the area thrives, unlike most of the Mojave Desert. He decides to join Titus on his march. Partly because he wants to see the forest, he hasn't exactly seen one like this. The other is that if the others come across an ambush, he could try and ambush the ambushers. And there was something about the Space Marine that reminded him a bit of what is available in his world, power armor.

Wanda had been quietly listened on for a while about what they should do. “I do understand Raven’s reasoning,“ She finally replied. “A larger group might have more difficulty explaining to native authorities who we are without rousing too much suspicion.” She turned towards Raven. “If you truly are on our side and willing to procure a map then I’m ready to lead a group through the checkpoint if you are heading to the forest.”

“I said that didn’t I?” Raven replied. “Now if you’ll excuse me,” He made his way towards Lowtown. “Head out of town and wait for me, I’ll have it sorted out in no time.“

As he vanished down the stairs Bayonetta was quick to follow. “Don’t worry, darlings.” She suddenly vanished from view. “If he is planning anything I will be looking on from the shadows.” With that she was gone as well.

“Well…best wait on Raven returning outside the city then.” Wanda led them to the outskirts where the sun was high in the sky and the weather was beautiful. Despite the reasons as to why they were here the scenery was at least pleasant.

What might have felt a long while was probably around an hour or so as Raven returned with some provisions as well as the map he had promised. “That was fast,” Wanda replied as he handed the map over to her.

“Did you doubt me? I told ya ol Raven’s got everythin’ handled!”

“You did pull through didn’t you, luv?” Bayonetta had rejoined the group as well as she leaned down to whisper something into Wanda’s ear.

“Oh, gossip? Somethin’ I need to hear?”
Raven asked with a smirk on his face.

“Well if you’re interested what happened in the little girls room,”
Bayonetta replied with a cheeky grin. “Then I do have a tale to spin you.”

Raven's right eye twitched slightly. “On second thought…nevermind,” Raven replied dejected before addressing the group. “Alright we gotta head down the plains a bit before going our separate ways.”

“The question remains. Who will go where?”
Wanda motioned Raven to stand to the right of her. Those who wish traveling through the forest go with Raven and the rest will travel with me through the checkpoint. Keep in mind we need to travel inconspicuously.”

"B-Billy, that's not..." Riesbyfe uttered sheepishly, hoping that earlier would have been the last she heard of the impromptu name she came up with for their so-called guild, but life was seldom so convenient.

With a resigned sigh, once she was done twiddling her fingers together, the Shield Knight put a hand to her chin in thought for a brief second, before making her decision. "I suppose I shall elect for the checkpoint myself. I'd like to think I could blend in this world a bit easier than... others."

Frankly, it was a miracle more people weren't staring and murmuring amongst each other while staring at Titus.

"I'll head out with Raven," Jack said with a tip of his hat. Yeah, he trusted this guy about as far as he could throw him, so it was best to keep a close eye on him if he up and snitched. Heck, maybe the threat of some muscle would keep him in line.

Cu, in the meantime, stayed in his spirit form. "I'll join you all in the checkpoint," he said. "I can keep an eye out for any funny business."

" I think it's a great name for us. It tells what we are really doing and it also is a good motivator for anyone who messes with us, I don't trust Raven, so I'll head to the checkpoint as well, I could always get some more use of practicing the businessman act,"
he replied with a smile, joining the others at the road to the checkpoint.

“That’s certainly a name alright,” Raven nodded to Shazam’s enthusiasm. “Alright if anyone asks that’s your Guild and you were hired by the Zaphias guards to help patrol the area to get rid of any monsters. Not too much to remember right?” Raven motioned towards his group to follow him. “Come on, Halure isn’t comin’ to us.”

“Good luck,” Wanda replied to both teams. “We’ll see you at the end of the day once we reach Halure.”

With that the teams split up. Raven leading the group Northwest and Wanda leading her team on the road heading north.

Raven’s group had walked on for about an hour on grassy knolls and the sea to the west of them when he spoke up. “You guys always this serious? Ya don’t have any good stories or anything to tell ol’ Raven about? Figure it’s time we’d get to know each other after all.”

“The silence is very calculated,” Bayonetta replied having followed Raven through the forest. “Why don’t you regal us with a story about you? I’m sure you have a lot of stories to tell.”

Raven chuckled. “Not much to say I’m afraid. Bit of a vagabond so I don’t stay around in places too long to have a story to tell really.”

@Yun Lee @Takumi @TeamForest

Wanda’s team as well hadn’t had too much of an issue following the road either. Weird that both the guards and Raven had spoken about a lot of monsters but they hadn’t seen anything. “Keep your eyes open,” Wanda replied. “While I think we’re in the right to distrust Raven the threat of monsters are probably all too real. If you see anything suspicious call out immediately.“ Considering the rather flat surface of the area if there was something coming towards them the group would no doubt notice. “Though Bayonetta had followed after Raven when he was allegedly gathering supplies. She sat down on Ries’s shoulder, as per normal now, and watched as the unfamiliar scenery pass her by.

“Huh... I never have left Moominvalley that much before...” she says, making a realization.

She was a fish out of water. She knew she wasn’t like the others here, but she had only just realized how weak in comparison she was to the others.

Little My turns to Ries, the person who she’s latched onto since the beginning, and questioned herself.

Who is she? What’s her deal? How can Little My trust the person who she has trusted the most here?

Getting closer they found it to be a pile of corpses of different types of animals, some vicious-looking, others not so much. If Wanda hadn't spotted them the smell of rotting flesh would have informed them of it one way or another.
