The Vampire's Apprentice

Clancy shook his head and stood. He walked to the door then looked back at her. "I hope you realize how unfair you are with these questions. You have literally asked for secrets partaining to my death, yet are reluctant to part with your given name. If you wish for someone else to give, you need to learn to give of yourself, as well. And I do not just mean cookies."

He walked out and carefully closed the door behind him. He was more sad and disappointed than angry, but there was little he could do about it. Just hope her snit fit was over by the next morning. Meanwhile, he had to mark which boxed he needed to be kept in the car. Or rather, box. There was not much he needed during the trip.

She watched him go, only moving after the door had clicked shut. Kitty rolled over so her back was to it. Why did he always have to be right?

The movers arrived the next day, a group of four burly, terse fellows. They looked vaguely similar to the werewolf bikers, but if they were werewolves and smelled vampire, none of them gave a single indication as they moved around collecting boxes and hauling them into the truck. All told, there was not that much to move, comparatively. Clancy had no desire to pack half of their larger items, keeping mostly the sentimental or the difficult to replace stuff. Even so, there was too much to fit in a single car plus his "coffin" plus passengers. His plant sat on a small box of things in a corner marked as the one box he did not want packed in the truck.

It was funny; she had mostly forgotten about the plant's existence, so to see it there was quite pleasing. As for herself, Kitty spent most of her time supervising and helping where she could, but mostly kept out of the way. What things she desired to bring with her in the vehicle were tucked neatly in a suitcase; everything else had been placed in boxes.

It was strangely silent once the moving of boxes had been completed. Would have been just the prefect time for a nap....

The moving truck had only been gone for about half an hour - if that - when someone knocked on the door. It was the twins waiting on the doorstep.

The twins grinned up at her. "We got out of school early! Mum said maybe we could help you clean or something! Can we?"
Sam came to greet them, licking their hands.

"If that's where we feel like starting." Kitty let the door close behind them and went to find the still-remaining cleaning supplies beneath the sink.

The twins ran around like a whirlwind! They were not particularly efficient, but they did do a good job with what cleaning they did focus on. Sam trotted amongst all three, inspecting their work and ensuring they were all doing good jobs.

Perhaps two hours later, it was time for the twins to return home for dinner.

Kitty waved them off and thanked them for helping clean. The door clicked shut before she sighed, somewhere between content and exhausted. Why were the days so long...?
The girl rubbed Sam's head, then brushed past him, heading upstairs. Sprawled boredly across Clancy's office floor, she was waiting for him. Or waiting for something else. Whichever came first.

Sam came trotting after her and flopped down next to her on the floor. There was still another hour until Clancy could rise, so he snuggled up to Kitty and heaved a giant sigh.

Kitty sighed simply to mimic Sam. It was nice, having his warm doggy self beside her. Plus, he was big enough to use as a pillow, if she so chose. Not that she did, but she could.

Sam gave her a lick then dozed off in no time flat. Naptime for doggies!

The sun slowly inched down, and at last Clancy was freed from his tomb. He came up a few minutes after sundown and looked around before nodding in satisfaction. Nicely done.

Clancy came up and almost tripped over Kitty. "What are you doing on the floor?" he asked as Sam moved with a grumpy look.

"Hm? What?" She sat up and looked around, then up at Clancy. "Oh, hi there," Kitty yawned. "I was waiting for you."

"On the floor?" CLancy asked, looking at her with his brow knit in puzzlement. "Why are you..." He shook his head. "Never mind. Would you like to come up?" He offered her a hand.

The girl finished her yawn before taking his hand, letting him pull her upright. She seemed cheery, all things considered.
