New User Howdy

Howdy, I like writing things, but sometimes the novelty of working on a project all on your lonesome can wear thin. Roleplaying on the other hand gives you fun twists and turns, social interaction, and best of all, instant gratification of other people seeing your writing.

I crave the dopamine.

Another thing; I read lots of web serials. Lots. All my literature consumption in the past several years pales in comparison to all the words that I willingly shovel into my brain from PirateAba (Wandering Inn), ErraticErrata (Practical Guide to Evil), Alexander Wales (Worth the Candle) and Wildbow (Worm.) If you've read them, let me know. I'm starved for discussion on those things, though I can't promise my input will be very substantive beyond "God I love these writers."

As you can probably tell from my literary grounding, I like sci-fi or fantasy that fully explores it's conceit. If you're going to pretend, why not go all out? So if you have any fun prompts, I'd love to join. I'm also a very partial to horror and deconstructing genre tropes, but I can appreciate lots of things so long as I can dig the world-building or the characters. Hope to do some fun collaborative writing with y'all!

Hey, I'm the first to get to say hi. So, how did you decide that sci-fi was the way to go? What is your favorite aspect of it?

Howdy, Silence. I've always been a big fan of sci-fi. Speculative fiction in general is really fun, but I enjoy the spectacle of big futuristic space battles, fun transhumanist stuff, and just the ability to investigate the relationship of humanity with technology and potentially aliens. My experience recently hasn't had a hug amount of sci-fi, though. Mostly just superhero stuff that has a sprinkling of sci-fi to justify the tech-genius superheroes and general setting stuff. How about you? Sci-fi your go-to genre?

Welcome!! Make yourself at home, get comfortable, be sure to read the rules and all that not fun stuff, but most importantly... don't eat the cookies, and don't believe a certain someone when they claim the brownies are spiked. ;)

Sounds good. The rules look straightforward enough.

Why not eat the deserts, even if spiked? I do not fear a good time.

Welcome to the site. I'd just avoid all the confections if I were you. Meats are better, anyway.

I also like a good sci-fi story, but I especially love crossover genres with sci-fi and fantasy elements intertwined. Sort of a "what if science and magic developed co-dependently" take on the world. And post-apocalyptica, especially where that meets the aforementioned matchup.

I haven't run a game on this site yet, but if I do, it'll probably operate at that intersection.

It also looks like you haven't been approved to RP yet, so I'd suggest that you make sure to re-read the rules related to that to make sure you get approved soon. After all, you're here to RP, right?

The speculative fiction intersection of fantasy and sci-fi is a pretty fun one. I've never played a game of Shadowrun, but I hear that's where it's at.

Also thanks for the advice. Taking another look at the rules it seems to be about engaging with threads, and I'm trying my best. Posting in other places is something I'm currently working at. I will say it's a little difficult to find threads that are active enough I'm not just kind of shouting into the void, but I'm patient. I also am here to RP, that's a given, but finding the right RP is also going to be a learning curve I imagine.

Maybe I'll just sit in the bulletin board forever.

Oh hey, sorry I have been a bit getting back to you. I recently got myself moved and things have been a bit chaotic. In fact I moved only 8 days ago. My stuff is still a bit scattered. Sci-fi is actually a favorite genre, but not always my go to. There are a few things I like doing. Mostly, I enjoy having a little political intrigue mixed with the sci-fi.

Oh that's no problem. RL stuff is important.

The political intrigue is the spicy part. It's a shame you don't see it done too often.

It really is a shame. I was a political science major and minor in history in college. That stuff is just too much fun.
