[Spanish] Looking to RP to learn Spanish

So, I've got 5 years of Spanish but I'm still not very good. I need help with reflexive verbs, sentence structure and conjugation, especially on those weird ones like Ir and Ver and what not. I'm looking for a partner who knows as much Spanish or more than I do and can point out big and small mistakes in my writing. The topic and plot and all that is open for discussion but the posts are probably going to be fairly simple and I'll probably get confused at points, but if you're ready to try it, I'm ready to learn! Thanks for your time!

I believe our policy here stands that RPs should be English only.
 
You are indeed, correct birdee. :) We don't mind people roleplaying in other languages, but all users have to be fluent in English, and maintain English in the OOC areas so people can understand one another. Within a contained roleplay we don't mind the use of alternate languages.
 
As long as the RP is "simple" in the sense that it's not a crazy long and winding plot, I can make time for it and take you up on your offer Birdee.

I'm a native Spanish speaker and it's my first language but it's been 15 years since I used it as my main one (outside of work or talking with my family, so still pretty often but not full time).

I could use some more meaningful practice by writing stuff out and then actually checking up to make sure I'm still following proper grammar and not being lazy since part of my job involves me transcribing conversations in Spanish and those tend to be lazier towards grammar usage.

So, got any plot ideas you'd thought about beforehand for this?

I hadn't thought too much about it because one, this was kind of a spur of the moment type thing and two, I'm not even sure what I have the vocabulary for. I was going to say something modern day, either slice of life or light magic or something? But I'm deffinately open to whatever. I think I might be able to do a post apocyliptic zombie type thing. Perhaps a dystopia. Just... not something complicated. Please.
 
How about two American tourists get lost in Mexico during El Dia De los Muertos. They have to navigate their way through the Spirits and the underworld. Not anything too dark, just cool adventure that would fit the Spanish speaking portion well.
 
I'm fine with literally any plot you'd like to do Birdee. You're the one that can decide if one might be too complex for you :p My only limitation is time to post, which would pretty much be limited to three days a week when I'm off from work.

We can go with Salsa's idea if you'd like. I'll have to research more on Dias De Los Muertos though, not my culture. Also forgot to mention, while Spanish from all countries is pretty much mutually intelligible because it is the same language, there can be a lot of variance with the different Latin American countries since each one of the lot has over the years developed their own regional differences and dialects. So things like colloquialisms vary a ton from country to country.

I'm from Puerto Rico where we're taught Spain's Spanish and every Spanish teacher hits you upside the head with the RAE's book if you slang too much in class. Yet for all that 'official' Spanish learning and usage, our culture still makes up a ton of slang for it's lexicon and day to day talk relaxes grammar a lot.

But since we're writing and the purpose is to help you, I'll be doing my best to make my Spanish teachers proud, so I'll be striving to stick to what the RAE would term "proper" Spanish.

Ah, Puerto Rican? Just take my idea and use Mythology from Puerto Rico. I just assumed Mexico because it's the most common Spanish speaking area I can think of.

Whatever you're most familiar with. Don't worry about tweaking my idea, just whatever makes this the most painless.
 
Yeah, I was going to ask you where you were from to ask about that. I think that would be fun so it's up to you if we do Puerto Rican or Mexican mythology for a similar story. But yeah… learning spanish please ^.^ At least for the main body, characters can talk in slang all they like!
