Mr. Moonglade's Extraordinary Orphanage

Glitchy Dragon

NightCrawler
Mr. Moonglade was exceptionally tall. Six feet ten inches maybe...no, seven feet tall at least. Quite unusual... The man wore a white stripped light-blue button up with the very top button undone. He had a square jaw, covered in the black hairs of a light beard, blue eyes, black glasses, black hair with a noticable streak of grey breaking his slicked back hair, and light wrinkles.
"Anything else I that needs signing Mr. Koorson?" he asks from behind the red stable door, cigar bobbing in his mouth. He then clicks the pen in his left hand whilst giving the board and paper to the short pudgy man next to you.
Mr. Koorson was short...in fact, shorter than you. Say, four feet ten inches. He wore a traditional tuxedo with white gloves and even a black top hat on despite the Summer heat, yet, he seemed not to have even broken a sweat. His hair was white and he possessed all the characteristics an old man would have. Crooked teeth, extremely wrinkled skin, shaky hands, and more. "That'll be it. Mr. Glade sir. I trust you'll open your heart to this one just as you do to the others?"
"Of course Mr. Koorson. It wouldn't be an orphanage if I didn't" he chuckles winking at you. "Please, do feel free to visit not only for bringing in new chldren. I'd love to spend an afternoon chatting with you."
"Rubbish! Last time we 'chatted' you decided to pop out the beer and get yourself drunk that night. I had to watch over all of your bloody children for a days while you put yourself back together."
Mr. Glade responds with a laugh. "That was ten years ago. I've been sober for quite some time now."
"Oh? Maybe i'll reconsider then..." A moment of silence thus fell upon the three full of tweeting birds and farm animals in the distance along with the gentle sound of wind blowing through the grass and not too distant trees. Mr. Koorson turns quietly away before heading off with his walking cane towards the limo leaving your travel bag and yourself with Mr. Moonglade.. "Take good care of the youngin, Moon. I'm counting on you to keep them safe."
"Of course sir..."
And with that, it's just you and Mr. Moon now. You watch quietly as the car drives off into the forest before eventually being swallowed by the trees.
"Heh, now that all that's out the way, lets get down to business."
You hear creaking, presumably your Orphanage Parent opening the stable door all the way. Returning your gaze back over to your guardian, you nearly fall back as a large brown with white splotched beast-like body carry Mr. Moon out of the barn.
"I like to be the first one to share what my gift is since I know it can be kind of a touchy subject occasionally. Quite self-explanatory but the lower half of my body is horse...or a term that'd be more familiar to you, Centaur.

Heh, so I kinda died writing that OX.

Either way, the main focus I have going for this roleplay is that its a home for gifted/super humans to get away from all the probing and attention the modern day world is giving them due to their rarity. Despite this false-hope, thing eventually begin to unfold and go haywire as a mole(spy/betrayer) is amongst them. That and the drama of school life(for those who can go), and many other things go on.

All I ask is:
-Must be active and post at least a twice a day(more if possible)
-Write at least three sentences per post.
(May get updated)

Name: Kardia Smith

Age: Sixteen.

Gender: Agender.

Appearence: Has short brown hair barely up to xir chin and glazed eyes. Kardia's skin is a dark brown under xir clothes. Xe usually wears whatever xe can find that will fit, but xir favourite is an oversized, long-sleeved white shirt. The sleeves are long enough that xe has developed a habit of hitting people with them.

Personality: A quiet, unobservant person in general, Kardia refers to most of what xe can find as some form of machine, such as calling someone's mind the central procassing unit and the hands advanced sensors. Xe has a hard time focusing on matters that rely on feelings, very little being immediately important to xem. However, if something gets through to them, xe will and in fact has beaten people bloody to protect that thing. Xir thoughts are usually in the Heart Realm, where xe can easily observe how others' hearts react to external and internal stimuli.

Sexuality: Demisexual.

Kin/Blood: Unknown; xe came from a realm where xir body was simply created. As far as xe can tell, there isn't anyone xe can be related to.

School: Not a good idea to take xem. Xe has literally fallen unconscious on multiple occasions, having placed their entire mental focus on something interesting in the Heart Realm. Xir body can also shut down entirely if the interesting thing is interesting enough. The last attempt ended in xir body nearly being sent to a funeral home.

Quirks/Ability: The ability to access the Heart Realm, a place in which everyone's true motivations are revealed in the form of heart-shaped auras Kardia claims are their souls. Whatever happens to said aura, the person seems to feel somehow. Destroy one and the person loses all motivation, and their body quickly ceases to function.

Likes: Reading others' motivations, mechanical objects, making things, and childrens' toys. The dollhouses especially are xir favourite. Any toys xe collects or makes will be placed into a dollhouse for use.

Dislikes: Glue, people who persist in getting xem to do pointless things, and lectures. At multiple points has xe attempted to at least incapacitate anyone who tries to drag them off to hang out.

Background: Xir parents were already stressed about the proclamation of being magical at age four and spontaneous unconsciousness at school, but the last straw was when xe placed xirself in a funeral home by accident, having been wandering the Heart Realm. They confronted xem about xir behaviour and soon dropped utterly stone dead, souls having been destroyed by an exasperated Kardia. Xe was then placed into several orphanages, finally culminating in this one.

I'd like to join. My phone usage isn't quite as restricted anymore, so I can post at least twice now.

Name: Osiria

Age: Sixteen

Gender: Female

Appearance: Her hair is blonde, but she suspects it's turning white. It is straight, and goes down to her waist. Large grey eyes. She's uncomfortably tall, especially for a sixteen year old, and is sometimes afraid to wear dresses. Her favourite outfit, though, is a plain black sweater, along with a large grey scarf with tassels on the ends. She wears jeans most of the time. Her skin colour has changed over many years, and it's not just a tan. She was born pale, but when she was three, began to tan without going out in the sun. By the time she was five, she had run away from the orphanage and was a dark brown. She lightened up after a few years, and now has chestnut coloured skin.

Personality: Osiria, despite her innocent look, is cunning. She chose her own name, and for a good reason. She knows how people tick, and she can build on that to benefit herself. Other than her cunning and insight, she is ambitious, with many dreams and goals, and will never think for a second that she can't reach them.

Sexuality: Asexual

Kin/Blood: None that she knows of.

School?: Possibly. Will people recognise her after a few years though?

Quirks/Ability: It is just starting to properly manifest, and she is just gaining control, but Osiria can shapeshift. It's going to take a while. She also has a light form of Apelpisíakinesis, or the ability to control feelings of despair and/or depression. This isn't as powerful as the shapeshifting, and will likely only grow a teensy bit stronger.

Likes: Chocolate, heavy metal, snakes, roses

Dislikes: Cashew nuts, having her photo taken, drawing

Background: Osiria doesn't remember anything before the age of two. She just knows she livedon the streets, before stumbling across an orphanage. Of course she stayed there until the age of five, at which point she ran away because one of the other children was beating her up. She named herself when she arrived at the orphanage. When she ran away, she lived on the streets until she was about ten years old, and was found sleeping on a park bench by a kindly old man, who took her to a different orphanage. She didn't run away again, but odd things happened around her. Each of the children described her differently, some of them thinking she was shy and introverted, some of them saying she was helpful and kind, some of them claiming she was a goofy clown. Also, two children who spent a lot of time with her commited suicide. When people began to notice her skin was really lightening, they freaked out and pushed her to another orphanage. This one.

Ooh, me, me!

Name: Remi
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearence: Tall and atheltic, Remi has red-brown hair that styles upward in a bit of a sweep. He has fair skin and freckles, and bright blue eyes. He generally wears a pretty eclectic style. Usually a fan of jeans, and sleeveless jackets, he also often wears overall, and enjoys wearing waistcoats over long sleeved shirts in the winter months. He has a long thin red scarf that he often wears, and long necklaces. He has a leather cuff around his right wrist and wears cloth bracelets on his left as well as a whole bunch of silver rings. He contours like a boss and uses a fair bit of guyliner.
Personality: Remi is a chirpy, energetic guy. He really enjoys having people around, and isn't much into book learning. He gets obsessed with certain area, and is up on all pop fiction. He likes lying on someone's legs on the couch and throwing popcorn at contestants on the bachelor. He also likes walking into people's rooms and flopping onto their beds. He's very extroverted, and a party boy, and able to hold a conversation with anyone. He can be very savage if you get on his bad side, and is pretty judgemental. But he gets very excited about things so people tend to like his company. He's never going to be scared to tell you if he wants to be alone or exactly how you've pissed him off, meaning he's a pretty easy guy to get along with.
Sexuality: Gay
Kin/Blood: Two older brothers and parents he hasn't seen in years
School?: Yes
Quirks/Ability: Shadow manipulation. Remi can move his shadow, trap people by stepping on their shadow, and travel through shadows. He's working on transferring thoughts to people by writing on their shadow and manipulating them by moving their shadows, but that is still very experimental.
Likes: Trashy tv, new make up kits, parties, lizards and snakes
Dislikes: Coriander, driving, macho guys, cats
Background: Remi was kicked out of home at age eleven. He was into make up and dresses and was starting stomp on people's shadows. The combination freaked out his parents and his brothers, and that landed him in the orphanage.

Goody gumdrops! Looks like i'll be able to make one less ref sheet then! Sounds like a good character. I'll be posting the rp thread soon. Right after I create the remaining three

I must ask though, everyone, would you prefer that this is a new shipment of orphans? That basically everyone is new so they can meet one another and explore. Or would you prefer some are new orphans while others have been here for a while?

Hmm, I always like playing greeters and Remi's 17 so I would like for him to have already been there, but either way works. Also, is having two characters viable?

I'd prefer if some are new and others have been at the orphanage a while. It could shake up existing social structures and make it more personal if the spy you mentioned earlier wasn't a new person.

Hey, I'd like to get in on this too, before the RP starts. How young are we allowed our characters?

Name: Madeline, Madi for short.
Age: 11 (can adjust if absolutely necessary)
Gender: Female
Appearance: Her features are that of the stereotypical cute, chubby-faced child, round and sweet and Caucasian. Her hair is straight and pitch-black, her eyes are silver-grey, and her skin is pale with a smattering of light freckles. She wears simple clothing, sweaters and jeans and such. Doesn't care much about her appearance, lets her hair hang in her face and her clothes fray at the hems.
Personality: She's a quiet, soft-spoken kid. She has a chronic stutter, so she tries not to waste words and speaks with her actions. She's slow to trust, but not unfriendly, and likes to have friends once she's able to make them. She'll defend friends to the death, and she's stubborn enough to go through with it.
Sexuality: Straight, but too young to act on anything.
Kin/Blood: Human, she's pretty sure. If witches are a thing that have kin or blood, she'll actually be from that.
School?: Yes, but prefers not to if she can get away with it.
Quirks/Ability: She can move things with her mind, and use magic spells. She doesn't know much beyond the telekinesis, but she did manage to summon a familiar by accident once. He hasn't left her side since.
Likes: Pink things, horror movies, donuts.
Dislikes: Social situations, her stutter, being compared to horror movie ghosts.
Background: Her parents died in a freak accident. Or they were murdered. She's really not sure and has no way of confirming. During the cleaning-out of their estate, she swiped one of the old books from their collection and hid it. Inside were a bunch of spells, like real witchy spells. In a fit of loneliness and childish despair, she tried one of the spells to summon a companion, someone to keep her from being completely alone. She ended up summoning a shapeshifting Neko, and binding him to her. He's been by her side ever since, disguised as an ecclectic pet cat (for the most part).

And for the companion...
Name: Dageru
Age: Lost track, looks 17
Gender: Male
Appearance: Scrawny Japanese boy, with just enough sharpness to his face to make him mildly intimidating. His hair is short and blood-red, and his eyes glint yellow in the light. On top of his head are a pair of cat ears, and at his waist is a tail to match, all the same color as his hair. His teeth are a little pointier than a human's, and his nails a little sharper. He has the same outfit all the time cause he's usually in his cat form, a white t-shirt and dark jeans. Goes barefoot. Also wears a corded necklace that does double-duty as a collar (to ward off animal control).
Personality: You know asshole cats? That's basically him. He's touchy and unfriendly, and stays out of business that isn't his. Or Madi's. He's extremely protective of her and cares about her more deeply and paternally than he will ever show. And even though she can take care of herself most of the time, he'll step in to get her out of any sticky situation. Antagonizing the child will earn you his wrath. Too bad he's only 5'8 and literally a cat.
Sexuality: Asexual, demiheteroromantic.
Kin/Blood: He's long been part of the Neko clans. Seen a lot of shit.
School?: Ha, no.
Quirks/Ability: Can transform from cat to Neko form and back at will. Can also summon throwing knives on occasion, but he doesn't do that unless he really has to.
Likes: Madi, tea, peace and quiet.
Dislikes: Anything that sets off his danger signals, people messing with his person, the stereotypes his people have recently been bombarded with.
Background: He doesn't talk about his background. He's seen people and cultures come and go, and lately he's just been hiding out from society because no one reveres the supernatural anymore. They either kill, chain, or sexualize them. He was pulled out of his hiding by some random American girl with a spellbook, and was rightfully infuriated. ...Until he realized the child was grieving and alone, and only looking for companionship. He still would never be fully pleased about being forced into it, but the child didn't ask for much, and treated him with kindness in return. It wasn't the worst deal he could have been stuck with.

Are these OK? I'd be playing Madi more than Dageru, but he's still enough of a presence that I figured he needed a bio.

Perfect characters. There is really good synergy. Do tell, are your characters new to the farm or were they already members? Could everyone else answer this as well for me?

I think mine have been there for a month or so, but they can be new if no one else decides to be and we need a better balance.
