Resolved/Answered Rather confusing to navigate!

First off, If there was some sort of thread that explains it all, I've most likely missed it, apologies in advance!

Anyway, what's the difference between the epic roleplay forums and Realistic section of the play-by-post forums? The realistic section/play-by-post is pretty understandable and something i am rather familiar with. But the epic roleplay forum, is a never ending maze of different sections and threads.

So, i would really appreciate your assistance in simplyfing this for me, please!

Thank you.

I've read it, when i first joined! Could you be so kind is to give me an example, please? Like the difference? If you have the patience to awnser my low IQ question, that is. Thank you.

An Epic roleplay is essentially a sandbox roleplay if you're familiar with that term. It's a large roleplay setting/universe in which many story lines take place. there's no single plot line that all of the characters follow, but instead there's numerous characters all pursing various plot angles throughout the setting.

The single thread roleplays (the ones found in the play-by-post forums) are just that. small roleplays with smaller groups of players all following a single plot so they only need a single thread.

Multi-thread roleplays fall in the middle. They may have a singular plot, but a large group of players so benefit from multiple threads, but not necessarily meet the definition of our Epic Roleplays.

If it was a single thread roleplay, then it would go under the 'realistic' sub-forum of the play-by-posts. You would use the bulletin board to post an OOC advertisement to get players, and then put your thread for actually roleplaying in, in the realistic sub-forum.

Okay then, thank you. You have awnsered my question! I suppose i will stay away from the epic roleplay stuff. It seems to be mostly sci-fi fantasy stuff anyway.

Also, one more unrelated question: Is there a severe deficit of players whom would partake in a realistic RP? Cause I'm having doubts that my realistic/historic RP plots will attract anyone. Since everyone is more into fantasy stuff.

Epic Roleplays are no specific genre. Just like single-thread roleplays can be any genre. It's just a matter of what people decide to build/run. That said, historic realistic RP does tend to be a harder genre to attract players for. I know we have some people that enjoy those kind of roleplays, but I can't say for sure how many. Your best bet would be to post up an interest check in the bulletin board and see if anyone bites. You can also hit up our live chat to talk shop with other players. Usually later in the evenings (North American time) is when you get a lot of people hanging out in chat. Can be a good place to look for players.

If you have trouble finding anyone, let me know. I can ask around a bit myself and see if I can send anyone your way that might be interested.

You're quite welcome :) Let me know if you need any assistance with anything else.

Okay, i promise this is the last question! The diffrence between the "Iterest check" prefix and "Open" prefix. Is the interest for recruiting players? Then what is "Open" for?

Sorry, it's just that this site is designed for roleplaying, and i mostly roleplayed on sites that weren't built for roleplaying. But don't get me wrong, in time i'm pretty sure i will enjoy this RP site with many different options :)

You're fine. If we didn't want people asking questions we wouldn't have a help forum :)

To explain the difference, 'interest check' is essentially 'hey guys, I have an idea for a roleplay, but want to find out if anyone's interested in it before I start setting it up'. 'open' is 'This RP is ready and actively accepting new players'. So one's more for testing the waters and feeling out player interest in an idea, and the other is 'we're ready to go! Start submitting characters!'.
