Resolved/Answered RP formats?

I've seen some RP formats where a picture is present in every post, almost as if required. Is this a rule? Because I'm no artist, and it'll be hard to find pictures that correspond to whatever is happening... I'm also not used to that format, more of a casual RPer, and I'm only ever used texts.

Ahem. Not a staff member (so hopefully I'm not doing anything wrong by posting here... If I'm not supposed to, I apologize), but I can say from personal experience that I have never used an RPing site, nor been in a specific RP, that required a picture to be included in every post. I've used pictures in an RP, of course, but not every post. And I've never seen that posted as a rule anywhere on here. Of course, that is something you may want to discuss with your partner (if it's a 1x1), or with the GM if you're joining a group, to ask if this is something they expect in their story. If it is, and that isn't something you're interested in doing, simply avoid that group. Anyway, I hope that helps. But as I said before, I'm not a staff member, so you may want to wait for one to either confirm or correct what I said.

Mnemosyne is indeed correct. It's not at all uncommon for people to use pictures, but hardly required. We don't really maintain any rules over how people choose to design or present their roleplays. I personally only ever use pictures in OOC threads to make recruitment threads more eye-catching, but I never use pictures in IC posts. Some people do in both, or neither.

The only reason it would be required would be if a specific GM of a specific roleplay required it of their players, but that's not something I generally see occurring.

Ah, I understand now. Thanks to you both!

I really only use them if I'm setting a scene or happen to stumble on one that fits the scene then reverse engineer my writing to sand off descriptive edges to fit it.

It's not exactly a requirement to have pictures, it's mostly due to a RP'ers preference.

The use of pictures helps out a lot when people play as Canon Characters from TV Shows, Video Games, Anime etc etc, as most of the time there will be pictures of their facial expressions which helps a lot.
