The Evrensel Conflict The Evrensel Conflict -- Chapter 1: The Only Easy Day was Yesterday

The Rancor let out yet another roar, this one more intense than the others, clearly enraged by Widowmaker's attempts at wounding it. The bullets didn't bounce off, but instead stopped right on the beast's skin, almost as if it absorbed the projectiles. Despite the aggressors being the two other fighters, it began a crazed charge towards Kiratta, who scrambled to leave her cover. It used its powerful claws to tear apart anything that stood in its way, lifting an arm above its head to try and rip the pilot to pieces in a single strike. She threw herself out of the way, the momentum making her roll roughly across the street before standing back up. Firing a couple of shots at its head, she aimed for the creature's nostrils, burning the sensitive flesh with a well-aimed blast.

She ran over to Reaper's side, still aiming the pistol at the now stunned creature. "I'm pretty sure it's skin is too thick for your guns to properly penetrate it... unless you keep shooting through it." Activating her com-link, the rebel rushed to another piece of cover, taking the time to look at the Rancor again. "Widowmaker, try to shoot at its ears or eyes. It'll come down a lot faster that way!"

(Can't forget the epic battle music!)

Corrin analyzed the situation, thankful for those long nights spent studying battle tactics with Leo and Takumi. She watched as the floating creatures charged for her, and brandished Omega Yato to slash at them rapidly. Had it been a normal blade, her attacks would have had no effect, but Omega Yato was the Fire Emblem in Corrin's world, and she'd be damned if the holy blade couldn't cut through some spooky sheets.

"If we can somehow get the bombs to attack the horde, that would thin them out and give Hector and Terra a chance to flee somewhere safe!

"Not a bad idea. I'll follow your lead." Widowmaker responded, acknowledging that she now knows a weak spot and began to open fire at the Rancor's eyes, hoping to blind and cloud it's vision. While Widow did not like to take orders from a complete stranger, at this point it helps them out of the situation.

"Urgh... Just how strong is this "Rancor" creature? It's nothing like what we've experienced." Reaper responded in a heavy grunt as he took cover alongside Kiratta, popping up every now and then to fire more shots towards the creature. "Ferocious too. The creatures you kept labelling as Geonosians, they were very organised by the seems of it. Just what are they?"

"Now that's something I'd like to know as well. And to further that point, they followed you so it's clear that they only found us because of you."

@Steely

Corrin's Omega Yato successfully sliced through the Ghosts and they evaporated in a puff of smoke. As Ephraim was about to agree to Corrin's plan, Terra yelled out to the entire party.

"Everyone, back away as quick as you can. This place is going to glow. In my Esper form, my Magical Powers double so this is going to be big." She exclaimed as she began to glow a faint aura. Hector and Ephraim immediately dispersed and ran for cover, Ephraim grabbing a hold of Corrin's arm as there was no time to waste.

"Ultima!" She then cast the spell as a blue spark of energy appeared in the centre of the area, which rapidly expanded to coat the entirety of the Monster Horde, and then exploding in a flash of light as all the monsters were eliminated.

All that was left was the Dragon and the Bombs that joined it. "That's the monsters cleared out. All that remains now is the dragon that flanked us." Hector and Ephraim shared the same expression of an open jaw. "What... kind of power is that..."

The Rancor's left eye was completely blinded as Widowmaker aimed for it, leaving behind a deformed hole oozing a dark green substance that appeared to be its blood. The creature was no less angry; much on the contrary, it appeared to have lost its mind to wrath now, striking wildly at a truck's cargo as it tried to touch the severed eye socket. Kiratta, on the other hand, did her best at focusing fire on its head, making sure that it had no rest. Her only breaks came when the pistol's battery began to heat up, prompting her to lay off the trigger as to avoid draining the ammunition.

The bombardment of questions didn't help her already scrambled thoughts, though she tried to answer as much as possible within the window of time created by the Rancor's injury. "I don't know why they're mostly coming for me! Maybe it's because we come from the same galaxy, I don't know!" Noticing the beast turning around, ready to come at them again, she started to run, circling the creature while maintaining her fire. "The Geonosians are insect people, basically! Comes with all the hive mentality from ants and such!"

A huge tremor shook the woman off her feet as the Rancor stomped the ground, creating a small fissure leading up to her. Desperately, she tried to crawl out of the way, though the creature's claws had already closed around her torso, tightening at an alarming rate. The pilot managed to slip her pistol arm out, triggering its fully automatic fire mode and holding down the trigger, causing a barrage of laser bolts to rain upon its face. "Q-quickly, blast its damned head! It's crushing me!"

Corrin watched in silent amazment. That was certainly one hell of an attack. Now all they had to do was go after the dragon and diffuse those bombs.

"Great work! Now all we have to do is take that dragon down and the rest of those bombs. I can help distract the dragon while the rest of you handle the bombs!"

Corrin shifted into dragon form, extending her wings before taking off into the sky and barragin the other dragon with bolts of water at a rapid pace, not unlike a machine gun turret.

"Sigh..." Reaper sighed as he slowly walked up to the Rancor again and began blasting it's hands with his Hellfire Shotguns.

Meanwhile Widowmaker kept on blasting at it's eyeballs, constantly damaging it as she saw that it was causing the Rancor to lose focus. Once she saw that it had grabbed Kiratta, she sighed as well and pulled out her grappling hook and fired it to the building opposite her and pulled herself in. Halfway through the grapple, she grabbed Kiratta and pulled even more to get them onto the other building. Once she grappled in, she dropped her with a quiet thud as she was already setting up a position against the side of the roof as she grabbed her weapon.

"Stay up here. You'll be safe from the Rancor here. Now if I can align myself the perfect shot..." She exclaimed as she aimed straight for the middle of the Rancor and pulled the trigger, firing a 100% increased power bullet straight towards it.

@Steely

"Wait..." Terra exclaimed as she unfortunately had to return back to her normal form. "Ugh... That really took a lot of energy out of me... Using that Spell twice in a single day was not something I was expecting to do..."

Hector looked around for a moment and realised something. "Wait a minute... Where did Undyne go?" He asked, observing the area and noticing that she vanished completely. "She was here standing with us when Terra appeared and now she's gone..." Ephraim added, also puzzled as to where she went.

"I noticed that she was taken by what appeared to be a squid when I landed but what kind of squid---" She then realised what the squid was. "Ultros..." She exclaimed with a cold shiver and a expression of disgust on her face.

@Hahli Nuva

Kiratta barely saw what happened as the Rancor's grip impaired her breathing, slowly falling into unconsciousness among the chaos of its roars and the pounding of the duo's guns. Her hand never let go of her pistol, however, the weapon steaming as the battery was completely drained in the automatic mode. The Rancor's grip loosened, and she was safely collected by Widowmaker, thrown onto the new spot like a ragdoll moaning in pain and gasping for breath. The woman's left arm was twisted at an odd angle, and there were clear bruises covering her skin thanks to the confrontation with the attackers.

Widowmaker's charged shot indeed fell the giant, blasting its way through the skull with a sickening, fleshy sound. The creature stopped wailing, finally, collapsing on its side with a loud, ground-shaking 'thud'. It gave a few, final moans before its movements ceased, and victory was very clearly theirs. Kiratta sat up against the wall, grumbling under her breath as she gripped her twisted arm. If one were to listen closely, her words were somewhere along the lines of a string of curses. "Okay, okay, you know how to do this..." The pilot said to herself, closing her eyes before yanking her arm back into place, a snapping noise confirming her success. "By the Force, this hurts..."

Shakily getting herself on her feet, she stumbled over to the window, sighing in relief at the sight of the downed creature. "Ah, finally... that big bastard is down. Good work."

"When you're paired with such a deadly assassin, you'd expect good results." Widowmaker exclaimed as she put her sniper back onto her back. Reaper shadowstepped up to the building and reconvened with her.

widowmaker-concept.jpg

"Reaper. Are you sure you wiped out all those "Geonosian's" that attacked us?"

reaper-concept.jpg

"They are all as good as dead. Nothing survives the Death Blossom. Aside from a few but we won't discuss that." He exclaimed, muttering the last part as quietly as possible. "Not so different from our usual missions, dealing with large crowds is a rare sight however, especially ones that were heavily organised like that one was just."

"Which reminds me... Kiratta. You might want to start explaining yourself. It's very suspicious that after we encounter you, a armed force comes to murder us."

@Steely

The gusts of wind did little to upset Cal's ship - after all, what's a little wind for a space-faring ship - as he plotted an evasive action that would take him right by the dragon's sides. The fireballs took some chunks out of the shields, but nothing was serious enough to demand his full attention.

LISA targeted the bomb creatures, blasting them apart as Cal activated boosters again, the inertia dampeners working overtime as it struggled to compensate for the G-force. He activated a small bomb bay door, releasing a single high-yield mine that attached itself onto the dragon, pulled the ship back into a horizontal stance, and detonated the mine.

@Raynar Saassin

The Bomb creatures took incredible damage from the barrage of fire from the ship's weapons as they exploded in a fiery puff of smoke. Once the mine had attached to the dragon, it exploded and caused the dragon to start falling to the ground before disappearing entirely with a loud roar of pain. Any monsters that survived the encounter with the group had ran off, never to be seen again.

This allowed Cal to land his ship and greet the group as the airspace was officially clear.

Corrin was in the air, and had taken the fight to the dragon attacking the floating metal object. She used her speed and agility to her advantage and was pelting the beast with magic water ki like hail, battering its body as it fell to make sure it was gone for good.

Once it was dead, she landed gracefully on the ground and changed back to normal.

@Raynar Saassin

Kiratta's frown returned as quickly as the drained, red-hot battery was ejected from her pistol, prompting the pilot to replace it with a fresh one sitting in one of her suit's pockets. "Don't start pointing fingers now. These things were trying to kill me much more than they were targeting you, if you didn't notice." She felt her anger building up, like hungry flames slowly creeping up to her mind... though she repressed it in time. A deep breath, a moment with closed eyes, and she held her hands together, obviously doing her best to maintain her composure. "What I mean is... I'm just as confused as you are, if not more. We don't even seem to belong to the same... universe?"

There was a lost tone to her voice, and her shoulders slumped, admitting defeat. "Again, I'll recite what I've told you. I'm Kiratta Forin, X-Wing pilot of the Rebel Alliance, leader of White Squadron. Since none of this makes sense, I guess... I pretty much fly starfighters against the Galactic Empire that controls the whole galaxy with its greedy little hands." Given the context, she had the feeling that her words made little to no sense to them. "I had just completed a mission when some green... wormhole sucked me in, and spat me out not far from where we met. I have no intention to harm any of you, neither am I related to that Rancor or the Geonosians. Something brought them here as well; the Geonosians aren't exactly friends of the Alliance, and the Rancor, well... it's a mad beast."

She glanced back and forth between the two, shrugging her shoulders. "So, yeah. I'm lost, and I have zero idea of what's going on."

The interceptor landed smoothly.

"LISA, divert fifty percent of reactor output to repairing shields and activate cloaking system, set two tasks as priority, then scan for salvageables. ALFRED, paint all local targets as friendlies, but do not disengage security measures."

"Roger, Pilot Ryker."

Cal jumped out of the ship's cockpit, bracing himself to meet even more new and strange faces. There's definitely magic here, lot of it. He just hoped that he can get used to it in time - and maybe make some money here or there.

After recovering from the large energy consumption, Terra finally stood up and dusted herself off. She noticed that Cal had arrived and so walked over to his side and introduced him.

"Everyone? This is my new friend, Cal. We were thrown into this world just like you were, and we met up together, although first interactions weren't so good. We've been trying to find survivors on this place and we seemed to find more then that."

Hector walked up to Cal first and introduced himself, holding his Axe over his shoulder.

"Name's Hector. Marquess of Ostia from Elibe. These people behind me are of similar calibre to me."

@Hahli Nuva @Agent Puncake

The two of them contently listened to Kiratta's story involving where she came from and they could not wrap their heads around most of what she said. A "Galactic Empire" and all this talk about "Starfighters." was all too sounding of a TV show or a film franchise. That's when Widowmaker figured out where she came from.

widowmaker-concept.jpg

"Sounds like she hails from the "Star Wars" Universe. I've seen numerous posters of it advertised when we were in Hollywood."

reaper-concept.jpg

"Are you so sure about that? I just think they are chatting a false tale just to make us not shoot her." Reaper implied, not believing her tale.

"Just walk up to her and check out her Uniform. If it has a logo that depicts a upside down semi-circle with what appears to be a blade going through the middle, then it's true."

"Fine." Reaper exclaimed as he walked around Kiratta and indeed noticed that same logo. The Logo of the Rebel Alliance. "So it's true then. Hmph. Too good to be true." He then walked off and Shadow-stepped to the ground and called to them on the com-link. "We are going to head out and see if we can't find some people." Reaper exclaimed as Widowmaker grappled onto the building they were on and grabbed Kiratta gently and lowered down to Reaper.

"Reaper, you take point. Kiratta you're staying in the middle, I want you in my sights at all times. Just because you helped defend against those creatures doesn't mean we fully trust you." She exclaimed as she changed her Sniper Rifle to Assault Rifle Mode and poked against Kiratta's back. "Let's get moving." "Agreed. Stay behind me, Kiratta. I'd prefer to keep you within Shotgun blast radius if it turns out you have plans to backstab."

@Steely

Yang was just minding her own business in the Emerald Forest outside the ruined remains of Beacon, practicing her punches and strengths. She was using live Grimm as target practice as that was to her a better form of practice than target dummies. Punching forwards to launch projectiles and rapidly punching their guts, she trained for several hours.

"Woo! Working like this is making me work up a sweat! Bet the guys would be all over me right now. Heh ha." She laughed halfheartedly as she began her trek back home when suddenly a dark void sucked her up and began transporting her into a new world against her will. "What the..."

Once it ended, Yang found herself in a ruined world, with broken down buildings, destroyed cars and equipment, and weapons of various types littered everywhere. Dusting herself off from the fall, she got up and immediately got into a defensive stance.

"Could of sworn I heard some movement... Better keep my guard up in case something decides to attack me."

"Hey." Cal nodded and, after some consideration, took off his helmet, figuring it was the best thing to do. "Uh, nice to meet you guys, I guess." He still had no idea what these places are, or if these people are connected at all, but best to tag along with them. Amazingly, money has shifted to second priority, and his primary goal now is to, simply put, survive. Then make money.

"So... you guys are all together, or something? From the same world?" He ventured a guess. They wore clothes reminiscent of a few fantasy movies Cal saw before, as well as some books, but he couldn't quite put his fingers on one yet. Maybe they were from something else altogether, who knows. Still, it's good to build at least some trust between him and these future allies - and potential clients.

Probably not, though. They looked more than able to handle themselves, and Cal just hoped that when - if - it came down to it, science will trump magic, or he can kiss his ass goodbye.

Corrin walked up to the newcomer Cal, and gently placed her hand on his cheek, feeling his skin under her glove. She studied his face intently, as if searching for some feature or mark. She didn't say anything, instead just brushing her hand against his face for a few brief moments.

@Agent Puncake

(@Raynar Saassin Actually, most, if not all, of the crew was teleported with them to this universe as well with the Corvette. Though considering they haven't entered the other parts of the ship yet, or the crew made it towards them, Raynar wouldn't know that for sure, of course.)

Shen weighted his options. He was quite certain it hadn't just been the the two of them. But he wasn't sure when they would arrive to help him get rid of the Spartan. And if they weren't...Well...He would need allies. And while he hated humans, he did see their use. He had used human resources such as weapons before, after all. Just never living resources...So the Spartan could be use of to them. And if not, well, the demon would have to let his guard down eventually. Long enough for him to ram his sword through his ribs.

"And how do I know you'll keep your end of the bargain?" asked Shen suspiciously. The deal would be like a sword that would cut both ways, after all. He to, would be vulnereble in the presence of Raynar. "You can easily but a bullet in my head when I'm asleep or turn my back to you." he pointed out. Its what he would do, after all.

Cal pulled back a bit when Corrin's hand touched his cheek. "Whoa." Truth be told, for all he knew, this was the standard way of greeting someone wherever she's from, but Cal still saw no point in being this abrupt. He didn't swat her hand away immediately, though, as - he reminded himself - he didn't want to be rude in front of potential allies.

Also, you don't wanna piss off a dragon woman. The latter is especially important.

Corrin blushed a bit, knowing all too well how odd this Nohrian tradition was. She eventually pulled her hand back, smiling lightly.

"I apologize if this makes you feel uncomfortable. Skinshipping is native to Nohr and is used to build trust and help me recognize your aura."

@Agent Puncake

Kiratta would certainly slam her head against the wall, repeatedly and with growing intensity if not for the wound already oozing blood from her forehead. While she did understand their feeling of uncertainty, they were obviously a thousand times more powerful than her; Reaper could easily snap her in two with his arms while Widowmaker appeared to know some sort of flashy martial arts to use whenever her rifle was out of the equation. The worst part was perhaps trivializing her 'world' as a mere fiction. Her glare was such that, despite her herself not posing any threat, the look in her eyes would take down an entire fleet in a snap. Still, she exercised her self-control. You're outnumbered. Keep your head cool. Just keep your head cool.

She endured being grabbed by Widowmaker out of the blue, only to be lowered by Reaper's side. Her expression merely changed from a scowl to an annoyed frown, her eyebrows furrowed deeply. Needless to say, the Rebel was far from happy.

Her eyes rolled back into her skull as they warned her once again, prompting her to store her pistol into its holster and turn around to face the large, dark-robbed man, even if the mask was a tad disturbing to look at. "Paranoid much?" She pointed a finger at Reaper, raising an eyebrow. "You just blasted an entire formation of Geonosians with a twirly, shoot-everywhere thing that I can't even begin to comprehend," her hand moved towards Widowmaker this time, or at least where she assumed the woman to be standing at. "And you picked out targets better than most of the Empire's scout units. Which are damned good at their job, despite the grunts being crapshots." A pause, and she sighed, obviously frustrated. "I'm a damned pilot. I'm good at flying things. If I were you, I'd only start to feel worried if I were sitting inside a cockpit."

Another pause and she returned to walking, shoulders slumped forward as she rubbed her forehead with her hands. "I'm not asking you two to be nice to me, or give me hugs and pat me on the back like some good old comrade. Just cut the suspicious attitude. Even if I had to perfect opportunity to fry both of your brains, I wouldn't take it, because I have zero idea of what's going down around here!" Kiratta stopped for a moment, looking at her surroundings as if searching for a new path to take. The lack of direction and answers only worsened her mood. "Let's just... try to get together for now. I'm pretty sure that trying to find out what's the deal with this place and how we got here is more important than wondering whether or not I have some terribly evil plan to even begin to hurt any of you."
