Otherworld Academy for Wayward Gods

"Breakfast already? Well, I'd best be going, thanks." She smiled, giving the Profesor a lethargic handshake, not mentioning the comment about her tardiness. It was the first week and sleeping in was to be expected of her, just as it was for the rest of the year. But Yhi decided that maybe she should try to be less than thirty minutes late, maybe 15? Nah, 20, she thought.
Yhi made her way to the Elite table, smiling a giving a few 'hellos' on the way and grabbing her favorite breakfast. When she reached her seat she sunk into it happily and beamed at the other students, unconsciously making the table a bit brighter.
"Good morning," She said with a blissful smile. "What was all that commotion about?" Stifling a yawn with her left hand, she lazily poked at her omelet with her fork. She slowly took a bite, savoring the bite. She'd have to find out who was doing the food this year, it was absolutely delicious.

Thanatos walked into the dining hall, unaware of his change and sits at the outcast table, wordlessly digging into his large country breakfast, paying close attention to the conversation over at the Elite table, realizing that Louis was trying to speak loud enough for Aila to hear. he shook his head and said "damn high and mighty dicks" suddenly realizing that he had changed from Mors "fuck" his head hangs low as he prepares himself for the rest of the day.

Aila heard the voice from behind her, needing to take a moment to realize it had been Louis who had spoken. Looks like he really plans on going through with his promise. She couldn't help but be surprised, having spoken to him more in the past two days than their entire school career. She had half expected the entire Elite table to have something to say about what had happened, but it appeared both Vulcan and Louis had not felt the need to tell them all about the incident the night before. Maybe...maybe I have judged them incorrectly.

There was still a bit of niggling doubt inside her, a voice that wouldn't be completely quietened by what she had seen since arriving back for senior year. Don't let your guard down...who knows, maybe this all is just further elaboration of a much grander prank in the making. One that was produced by more than just Ren but rather the entire group of Elites. They've never done much to help or care about anyone but themselves before this, so why start now?

Aila hushed the voice, instead surprising herself by whispering back without turning around. "Retribution? Music to my ears....I will admit I'm surprised that you're going through all this trouble. You're going to be in the same boat as me if this goes awry."
"Please. If it comes down to it, I can make 'er seem like the bad guy 'ere, easily. A cheerleader known for pe'iness and gen'ral snake like behaviour against the word of a football ace and partial oath god? I've got this in the bag." He says smugly, leaning back in his chair, hands behind his head, in an effort to get closer to the Usual. It was going to get old real fast, having to mutter like that.

"I'm only doing it this way, with Vulc, because I do like Ren, just a little, and I think all she needs is a little guidance right now. If I wanted, I'm pretty sure I could win in a public screaming match. Probably not behind closed doors, but that's why it's happening now." He says, mildly proud of himself as he laughed at a joke from one of his companions.

"Besides," he continues, face darkening ever so slightly. "while you two don't like each other, there are boundaries ya just don't cross. I'm not some sort of simple minded, mean spirited Jock that's gonna take every chance to laugh at someone that ya see in those dramas yer too fond of. I know wha's righ' an' wha's wrong. Last nigh' was firmly in tha wrong."

"You're right about her reptilian reputation. You've got your affiliation on your side as well now that you mention it, but I still wouldn't be as confident as you are now if it was me going up against her." She stretched herself, throwing him a momentary look over her shoulder that wouldn't have been too noticeable from the otehr Elites sitting in front of him.

Her green-gold eyes shone, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. I'm actually enjoying this conversation...who would have thought that an Elite would have the time of day for a Usual. Especially one who has made troubles with one of his friends. Her voice heightened from slightly above a whisper, the girl tiring too of needing to mutter under her breath.

"As someone who has been on the receiving end of her wrath and public screaming matches, I think you guys better be stepping on eggshells when you bring it up. You might want to hope as well that she hasn't seen that I put my name on the cheerleading try-out sheet this morning, because she'll already be spitting and irritable before you even get a chance to open your mouth."

She ducked her head down as he laughed at one of the other Elites jokes, not wanting to make it obvious that Louis was conversing with many of the Elite's 'public enemy number one' if Ren had any influence over them. She looked back when the laughter ended, her face suddenly darkening as he mentioned the night before. She was revisited by the embarrassment and fear she had felt then, quickly turning her head to hide her furrowed brows and thin-lipped expression.

"I used to think of you as that. I've started changing my mind....you're not completely horrid as I initially thought. I also don't watch those American drama's, I find better company with books and Mau. " her tone was light-hearted, the girl putting on a sideways-smile to cover her momentarily somber look.

She looked up, seeing that Nina had joined them in the hall. She gave the girl a small wave, unsure what else to do. She wished she could have thanked her better last night, but it was too late to say anything now.

Izanami indignantly finished her breakfast, despite the stares. Maybe I sat at the wrong table, or, whatever, doesn't matter. She thought, thinking to her schedule for the day. My next class is... history! I think... She brought out her neatly folded papers from a pocket in her kimono, reading it while walking slowly to a "less judgey" table. Ugh, this crap is so confusing! She vented, scolding herself for whining. "Whatever, i'll just ask someo-" Izanami's personal ramblings cut off by bumping into another table. The usuals. It was an innocent and unassuming name. She shrugged her ponderings off and sat down, looking to her left.

"Nina, right?" She asked, offering a friendly smile, fidgeting under the usual's stares at the newcomer.

"Gee, thanks lassie. Glad to know I'm getting somewhere on the 'Aila approval scale'. Can't be an honour many have achieved." Louis says sarcastically, rocking forward in his seat and ending the conversation there. Dangerous territory, that. Would need to be careful. Besides, he had said what he wanted to say. Next time he opened his mouth, it might be a bit more serious.

Of course, he made sure to keep an eye on Vulcan. The guy was practically sweating bullets by the time he had finished talking with... Aila. He'll figure out a nickname later. What was more important was that it looked like Vulc was going to screw the pooch.

Standing up, the jock moved his seat back and jogged his way around the table, smiling at a few pals on the way before ever so politely kicking the person closest to Vulcan from their seat, the guy a younger year and respectful of the older players.

"Oi, ya got this man. Doesn't matter wha' she says, i'll back ye up, hear me?"

Aila couldn't help but chuckle under her breath, taking the male's standing and moving to the other end of the table as a clear sign that their conversation was over. She had found the dialogue...pleasant. Strangely enough, she did not feel the need to immediately gouging her eyes out after having an actual conversation with an Elite. This was off for her, since that was the only sensation she had ever experienced after her little snippets of conversation with Ren.

She noticed that Iza had now joined Nina, the cat goddess shifting round to sit opposite the pair. She had something she needed to get off her chest and knew now was the best time to do it since Ren wasn't here yet to cause her usual drama.

The female placed a hand on Nina's, saying quietly "Thanks for the help last night. I know you don't like taking sides or getting involved but I'm sure that you getting the door open made the situation end a lot quicker." Aila's nimble fingers lifted from the other girl's, looking to Iza instead beside her. "Hey there Iza. I didn't see you at orientation yesterday, what happened?"

Her feline friend padded in then, the cat jumping up onto the table bench before giving an odd-sounding meow. It may have sounded threatening to most, but Aila knew it was a cry for attention. Mau often acted like a tame house cat and his antics brought a grin to Aila's face. She obliged him, suddenly letting out a guffaw as she noticed the feather's stuck to the corners of the lion's maw. "Oh, you've really done it now Mau. If you've hurt one of Athena's owls during your little game of 'catch' you like to play with them there's going to be a special place reserved for you in Tartarus." Her hearty laugh dialed down to a chuckle, the female plucking feathers out of his fur.

Thanatos sat in his room, not enjoying the idea of going back to class. he stood up, grabbing his silver glove and his stygian iron broadsword, deciding to see if Hercules wanted to have a quick bout before class and heading down to the training room. on the way, he tried to shift back to Mors but had no luck, his wings were still their trademark rough and tumble look, his clothes still dirty and worn. he still wasn't able to become his more likable form, no matter how much he tried "dammit dad, you couldn't give me a little help here?" he shakes his head as he nears the training room.

Nina's smile widened, and her blond waves bounced along her shoulders as she nodded. It was still able to surprise and thrill her when people used her new name. Granted, no one here knew her from her previous life, but still, there was something exhilarating about having people finally see her for, well...her.

"That's right...and you're Izanami, yes?" She tucked her hair back behind her ears and extended one slender hand towards the other girl. "I think we had a class together last year, but we never really got acquainted, so...nice to meet you!"

As Aila joined them, Nina turned her attention to the cat goddess. "Oh, no problem at all, Aila!" Her grinned turned sheepish as she squeezed Aila's hand before letting her go. "I'm just glad you're okay--and that the door is still in tact!" As Mau padded in, Nina extended her hand patiently towards the large cat, letting him sniff her and nuzzle, if he wished to.

Aila chuckled, collecting the stray feathers and piling them up on the table in a mass of tawny brown, grey and white. Mau turned his head slowly at the sight of Nina's hand, tilting his head to the side with a quizzical expression on his face. He looked at Aila with his golden-hued eyes wide, confused in a way.

"Go on then, she's not like that snake-tongued witch."Mau slowly came forward, his wet nose brushing against Nina's hand while he sniffed quietly. Once content that her smell did not match those of the shoes he had chewed, he gently stretched forward and allowed his head to rub against her palm. Aila chuckled under he breath, thankful that he was behaving himself. Mau lay down, placing his head on his paws and closing his eyes to nap.

Aila turned to look at the Elite table, finding that Vulcan appeared as nervous as she would be if she had to talk to Ren this morning. Louis was talking to him, the girl assuming that he was psyching him up although the fire god still looked like he was about to throw up. Glad it's not me in my place. Would be a pretty pointless conversation anyways since Ren thinks she can never be wrong. I still can't believe they're actually going to risk facing her in all her petty glory.

Once Ren stepped into the main hall, the mood seemed to mellow and everyone's energy seemed to dissipate. Even those who hadn't been warned knew than something was about to go down- and something serious at that. She strode into the room as if she were walking onto her private yacht, placing one foot in front of the other so methodically she might as well have been walking along a tightrope. Her otherwise smooth brow seemed to tense and wrinkle after noticing the response the room had given her; she was used to taking people's breath away, but not like this. Maybe it was the fact she was already wearing last year's cheerleaders uniform, already presuming her place on the team. Maybe it was the fact she was wearing her back-up Vans instead of her Air-runs, the only shoes the lion hadn't already destroyed. Zeus only knew why.

She bowed her head down, as if the weight of all those eyes was finally taking a toll on her neck, and made her way towards the Elite's Table. She pulled out the only free chair- sandwiched between Vulcan and Hathor- and sat down silently, without so much as a crumb of food in front of her. She wasn't hungry- girls like her weren't allowed to be 'hungry'. Instead, she simply rested her chin on her wrist, and began to stare at a candle on the wall. Watching it flicker and dance finally relaxed her, its warmth unclenching her fists and slowing her breathing.

"Are you alright, R?" Hathor muttered, laying her double buttered slice of toast back down onto its place. Even she felt the need to eat today- riots were getting closer by the hour, and she would need all her strength if she was going to be able to put 'Head Cheerleader 2 years running' on her college application. She would need her A game. That being said, even she had opted not to wear her uniform today; she thought it would be poor taste to the girls who definitely wouldn't make the team, and would just direct more jealous hatred towards the table. "You seem tired?"

"I'm fine, Hath" She muttered, her jaw till pressed shut by her palm "Just had another run-in with that bitch in the dorms. You know the one". Aila was swiftly becoming a thorn in Ren's side. She was finally getting to her- a standard that as of yet, nobody else had managed to achieve. To have feelings for another human being- even if these feelings were loathing and hatred- was a complex she was not familiar with. The Cat Goddess' actions and words seemed to sting and burn much more than she had anticipated; there were times when she felt like she was looking into a mirror. Both girls were pretty. Both were fit. Both had experienced things no one else in the school could possibly understand. Both could lash out when they felt as if they were being placed on the defensive, only Ren was villainized for her actions. Why? Because she had the balls to strike preemptively. The had the guts to hate before she was hated. That way she had something to blame for her reputation-- something she could control. Maybe she was a bitch, but she was a bitch who had used her reputation and the fear it bred to put herself in a place in society in which she couldn't be hurt or harassed. Until Aila came along. An outlier in the equation, who knew how to fight her reign. And now she was amassing a following-- something she could not stand for.

"Hey Ren, could I have a word?"
"Piss of Vulc. I'm not in the mood for any of your shit today"
Vulcan turned back towards Louis for one last push of support and reassurance, before diving into the fray. It wasn't going to be pretty, but it had to be done. Louis was doing it for Aila, and he was doing so for his friend...and possible personal gain. Either way, he would be the hero when they came toe to toe, right? He took a deep breath, and continued, he sweats drying and his anxiety fading in exchange for a burst of righteous anger. She wasn't going to get off the hook that easily
"Really? Because you seemed to be in the mood for a lot of shit yesterday. Tell me: How much of 'a shit' do you have to give to sneak into an innocent girl's room, break into her luggage and fill it with toys just to screw with her? Because I'm guessing its a lot of shit"
Ren jolted to a start, taken back by the sudden opposition. Of course, Aila had recruited some lettermen to do her bidding. The cow was practically yellow with cowardice. First getting a cat to do her dirty work and now boys. It was a natural progression...
"Excuse me?" She snapped, striking Vulc with a glare sharper than Louis' spear.
"C'mon Ren, tell us why you did it. Why did you prey on Aila like that? Why did you cross the line?"
"I don't have to explain myself to you, Vulcan; I can practically count the number of brain cells in that thick skull of yours on one hand; I really doubt that you would understand. Maybe if you were a little smarter you wouldn't have sided with that bi--"
"Drop the act, Ren" Vulcan snapped, raised his cheeks up into his eyes. He could play defensive on this one; he would have to push on as far towards the tri line as he could, and if worse come to work, he could always pass the ball back to Louis. If worse came to worse, they could take her on together. "You're not fooling anyone anymore. Everyone knows your jealous"
"I am not jealous"
"Then tell us why. Why. Did. You. Do. It"
Even under her foundation, it was still clear to the Elites that Ren was going red, not out of embarrassment, but rage. She was approaching breaking point and getting dangerously close to head biting territory. Her fists clenched again, her emerald nails piercing the top layers of her skin. No... she had to compose herself. She wasn't about to let Vulcan provoke her. There was no way in the Underworld that she was going to let him win
"Listen here, asshole" She whispered, leaning in towards the Fire God so that nobody but him, Louis, Hath and himself would here. "I'm not about to pour my heart out to your new best friend, just because Louis set you up to play me. Just like I said yesterday- it's not going to happen. So you can send your boyfriend back to his new girlfriend and let her know where I stand" She leaned back over to her seat, and placed her cupped hands back onto the table, acting as if nothing had happened. A forced smile appeared on her crimson lips, the perfect defense again any invasion; with nothing but a twitch of her lip, she had dismantled Vulc's entire offensive, convincing him that all of his challenges and tribulations fallen on deaf ears, and done nothing to dampen her mood.

Vulc was stunned by the Ren's words, every line striking deeper and deeper. He had been caught off guard and reduced to a gauping mess. At least Ren had shown the courtesy to whisper her threats as opposed to publically tearing down his reputation. No... he couldn't give up now. For Louis, for his reputation and for doing the right thing, he had to persist, no matter the cost.

"Ren..." Vulcan called out, trying to wrangle Ren's reputation back from the rest of the table. Instead, he was met with a worried look from Hath, as if screaming for the Footballer to just let it slide. Before he could react, Ren was back on the front lines, ready to finish of her wounded prey
"I told you to do something, Vulcan" Her tone was slowly raising, not so much so that the teachers could hear, but that anyone trying to listen in on the gossip could start to pick out a word or two. "I'm going to ask you again. Tell your boyfriend" He flinched again. Ren knew that her last statement had got a reaction out of him the first time- why did she need to shake up her strategy again? "To tell his girlfriend- or boyfriend or whatever she fucking calls herself- that no matter who she pays off or bribes or screws to try to stab me in the back, I'm not going to start groveling. I'm not going to ask her to forgive me for having a bit of fun in this damn school. I'm not going to let her sit with us to make up for it and I'm sure as hell not going to 'make friends' with her just because you all want to play Happy Families. Get up and tell her, or I will" And with that, she rose from her seat, her face somehow still masked in passiveness and made her way towards the gardens. She wasn't going to stick around for Vulc to try to scramble together another defense. She wouldn't want him to embarrass himself. Her journey came to a halt as she passed the Usuals, throwing a glare towards Aila, before slowly walking over to the Breakfast Bench. Maybe she would eat after all...

Vulc turned back towards Louis with a face of sheer confusion and fear "See what I mean? She's the Hydra Reborn..." He cracked his neck against his arm and took another swig of his orange juice, drying his strained tongue. "I'm going to go in again. For retribution or however you described it-- but I'm going to need some backup..."

Louis smiled. He had expected it to be a challenge, but he found himself restraining laughter. Watching as the furious girl stormed past, he span in his seat, grin evident on his face. "Ya need ta be more asser'ive mate." He tells Vulcan, watching the girl and thinking on his next actions. "You need ta keep 'er off balance. In'errupt 'er, ge' in her face. Don't let her do what she just did, rolling and pickin' up speed. Now, i'm gonna get 'er back over 'ere, and ya need to use tha' chance." Really, it was like fighting a battle. Tactics and everything.

"Yer right Ren!" He calls out, leaning back and making sure that his grin was on full display, not a trace of fear or hesitation. " Ya ain't jealous of Aila. Yer scared of 'er. Scared because she can do everything you can, bu' simply be'er. Ya ain't stupid, far from it, an' that's why you go ou' of yer way to bully someone. To mock her, an' prey on 'er fears like the serpent ye are. Because ye know that, if given the chance, she could easily replace ya. Ye know it's tha truth, or I wouldnae say anythin'." He pauses here, the silence of the hall deafening, before continuing." Now, despi'e what you may think, I ain't doin' this for the ca' goddess." He leans forward for this, grin perpetual yet face darkening.

"We're callin ye out on yer shite because ye've gone too far, blatantly being a bad person, and need ta know yer place, head cheerleader." He didn't like saying this. Despite how she was acting, he liked Ren. But he needed her incensed, enraged and willing to throw down. Even if he was wrong, he knew Ren. She wasn't going to back down from a challenge like this, especially not from a god such as himself. IF she did so, she would be condemning herself. The only way out was to fight.

Looking over at Vulcan, he tried to convey 'Our last shot. Make it count or we're fucked.'

It wasn't the easiest thing to convey with your eyes, but he liked to think he got it through.

"You're starting to talk like a boxer again, mate" Vulc teased, making the most of his fleeting moments peace before he jumped back into the conflict "I knew I should never have let you borrow my Rocky Box Set"

Ren turned around with an almost pained expression on her face, her eyes screwed up tight and lips pouting after hearing Louis' intervention. He just didn't know when to stay down and let things slide. Now she would have to attack him too...things were starting to spiral out of control, dangerously so.

The idea of being afraid of Aila struck hard. Maybe she was. Maybe, beneath her make up and scrunchies, the thing she feared most was the idea of being replaced. The prospect of falling from her ivory tower and watching someone take her throne. The idea of anyone doing such a thing made her sick- esspecially Aila.

She opened her mouth to retort, to tear down the sportsman for trying to take a stab at her ego and spit on the woman she was. How dare he- how dare any of them- presume to know her!? She felt her anger growing inside her like bacteria, multiplying by the second.

"You insolent, you arrogant, you think that you--" Her tongue stopped mid word, floated in he mouth for a few fleeting moments, before sinking to te bottom of her mouth. The realisation had struck her right at be core, numbing her brain and chilling her soul "--You can't lie...you..."

Everything he was saying was true- at least to himself. He believes each and every word- every counter and every blow- with every fibre of his heart. These weren't insults he was firing- they weren't slanders or lies or exaggerations made to hurt her- they were truths. There was no defence against words like those. She would have to fight fire with fire

"Alright Mr.Truth God. You think you've got me down to a T. You think you've managed to break me down and cut me apart like some... criminal case, but you've forgotten who you're dealing with. I know my place, Louis- it is where it's always been- the top. You've never been one of US. You've never really been an elite. You're too busy playing saviour to girls like THAT to belong with us. There's a reason we sit away from people like THAT, Louis. What do I have to say to get it through you thick head?"

"That's enough, Ren!" Vulcan matched the cheerleaders tone, finding his voice and courage again. He shouted with a voice trained to carry across an entirely football field- it would certainly get her attention from across a lunch hall "Shut up or fuck off- your choice! Stop trying to make this more and more personal that it actually is. I dont give a crap why you're doing any of this anymore- none of us do- all we care about is how to make you pull your head out of your ass and STOP"

Ren stared at him for a moment in total bewilderment, then back to Louis, then back to Vulcan again. The God of Fire and the God of Oaths. A match made in the Underworld. She turned her back on the elites and made her way towards the doors in silence, unable to muster the strength to bite back. It was finally over- no use in fighting a loosing battle. She turned to Hath, hoping for a look of encouragement or support, only to find her too distracted by another jock to dare. One finally turn to Aila- a glare and a curse under he breath for the road- and she paced out into the hall

The room took on a suddenly icy tone, conversations ceasing mid-sentence and a hush falling over some of the students. Aila knew immediately that Ren had finally made her grand entrance, the female's eyes already boring holes into her back as she made her way towards the table of Elites.

There's still a chance for them to back out...She thought to herself, unable to stop herself from turning to glance at Vulcan and Louis.

The female carried herself with an air of superiority, finding the empty seat and easing into it at the place she belonged among the self-decided tops of their senior class. Aila was resisting the need to glare in her direction, Mau doing it for her. The cat stared at her, his pupils contracting as his lips pulled back (revealing immature canines) as he gave off a small growl. The cat goddess finally couldn't help herself but look in Ren's direction, holding back an instinctive eye roll as she noticed her outfit of choice.

Of course she would be so obnoxious as to wear that...trying to stake her claim before she's even tried out. Rather pretentious in my opinion.

The female watched unabashedly, turning in her seat so that she faced the Elite table with a proper viewing angle. She wasn't fazed bout Ren knowing she was watching...besides, like this she could focus on reading people's lips to help her pick up in any whispered words. Her cat-like hearing hadn't developed fully just yet, but she found that if she could watch people's mouths as they were saying something, it made trying to pick up on the words easier.

Hathor seemed concerned about Ren, but the other female was in a snappy mood as per usual and had to immediately draw attention to herself. She probably get's her self-worth from how much people are sobbing over her latest broken nail. Ailuros picked up on Vulc speaking next, although with the look that could sour milk on Ren's face Aila was already sure that the male was heading into dangerous territory. She focused harder, able to make out most of what they were saying.

The cheerleader immediately bared her fangs, digging right into the male at the question he threw at her feet. At her toxic and sharp-edged comeback, Vulcan threw down a gauntlet of her own by proclaiming her to be jealous. It was then that Ren listened and Aila had to use all her self will not to lean forward as the words became less audible. The look of a freshly cooked lobster that was beaming from Ren's face made Aila very pleased though...more than she would like to admit.

Ren raised her voice, breaking her little facade of being unaffected. This was a sign of trouble to come, that much was clear. Her words caused Aila to hesitate, furrowing her brows and making her previously bright eyes dull with irritation.

To tell his girlfriend- or boyfriend or whatever she fucking calls herself- that no matter who she pays off or bribes or screws to try to stab me in the back, I'm not going to start groveling. I'm not going to ask her to forgive me for having a bit of fun in this damn school. I'm not going to let her sit with us to make up for it and I'm sure as hell not going to 'make friends' with her just because you all want to play Happy Families. Get up and tell her, or I will"

"Not all of us lug around daddy's wallet and whip it out anytime things aren't going our way. I haven't bribed anyone" She said calmly, slowing quelling the little voice that was telling her to stay out of this before she made things worse. The words were coming out though and once they started, there was no way she was going to stop. Her voice didn't rise in volume though, remaining restrained too.

"I also wouldn't want to sit at a table with a vapid goddesses who thinks the world revolves around whether or not the staff has had their clothing steam-pressed or air-dried. I sure as hell don't want to be friends with someone who thinks it a good idea to belittle those around them in order to put themselves on top you sulky, whiny little snake."

The situation in the room was a gunpowder keg ready to explode and when she heard Louis throw in his own bit as she was trying to storm off, she knew that the match had been thrown. The gods words were the perfect trigger, Aila standing as she prepared for what was to come. She got Louis and Vulcan into this mess, it felt wrong to sit back while they fought her battles.

It was over sooner than she thought, the girl retreating out the hall. Probably to reload and rethink her plans. I feel as if a battle has been won but there's a whole war ahead of me.

Ren gave her one last poisonous look .The female crossed her arms over her chest, standing tall as if she was an unweathered mountain. She wouldn't appear frail, especially not in front of her.

Once she was gone, Aila made her way over to the Elite table. She didn't go all the way, hanging back a fair distance. She had already caused enough ruckus today, but turning the social heirarchy completely on it's head by getting too close to the Elite table might be asking a bit too much.

She cleared her throat, just enough to get Louis and Vulcans attention, then spoke despite how her brain had suddenly emptied of all clear speaking ability after what she had just witnessed.

"Um....thanks." She looked to Louis, rubbing the back of her head as she scrambled for words. Don't act self-righteous...be less lampost-up-your-ass-ey.

"You were true to your promise and I can appreciate that. She can be quite a handful and by no means do I think this is over...in fact I think you've just poked at a sleeping bear, but I'll deal with whatever comes. You guys played your part so, ah, thanks again. I'm sorry for any trouble this is going to cause you and don't expect anything else."

Pity this little collaboration between the different pyramid rungs has to end. She thought to herself, disappointed that this might be the end of their help after all they had had to go through. Sure, she had also enjoyed socializing with them but it was mainly the their help she was after.

At least, that's what she was trying to convince herself of. Aila found it difficult to admit that she had enjoyed this friendly interaction and might even miss it if they all went their separate ways.

Louis looked up at Aila, cocky grin still in place. “No problem Lassie. Although I would retrain yer comments, just for a while. They may have stung, but random insults like that are gonna weaken the case.” He says, his Law side shining through there as the god sat, unperturbed as to the Snake goddess’ panicking comments to him. “But yer wrong on one part. This is over.” He tells her, standing up with a slap on his legs.

“We’re persistence hunters, us humans. Once prey is weak, we track it down and finish it off, not let it recuperate and come back stronger and more aware.” He tells the cat goddess, smiling just a bit wider at her as his eyes snap, just for a moment, to the same dark grey seen in storm clouds.

Moving past Aila, eyes reverting to near neon green again, he swiftly makes his way towards the exit of the hall. He needed to finish this, make sure Ren wasn’t able to fester with her thoughts. He cared about the girl, and would hate to see her devolve more than she already has.

He knew Vulcan would easily be able to handle the scene back st lunch, now that Ren was fine and she had no support. Maybe the guy could even become kingpin himself, with the snake goddess fallen from grace as it were.

Following Ren’s path, he spots her quite nearly instantly. After all, there was no way she could outpace him. He knew she was aware he was there, but he didn’t say anything. Couldn’t really. She needed to turn and face him, or he wouldn’t leave her alone.

Yhi stared open mouthed at what had just unfolded. She had idea that such a big thing was happening, and she didn’t really know how to respond. Part of her wanted to go after Ren, but part of her thought she should try finding out more about what happened. She cautiously approached Aila.
“So, snakes in your room?” She asked apprehensively. “I could talk to her in a less-screamy way if you want...” all Yhi wanted to do was bring back the peace. She glanced at the retreating form of Louis, she felt as though more bickering would start going up in the halls. She couldn’t believe she didn’t see this coming...

No problem Lassie

Aila found his grin to be infectious, her own soon appearing of it's own accord. She raised a brow at him however, retorting playfully with "Lassie? I'm pretty sure that's the name of a dog in a famous movie. Kinda ironic for me to be called that don't you think?" Her grin softened to a mere smile though before she continued. "I've never fired back unless a comment was dealt out to me first, so there's no need to worry about that. I know it's hard to believe but I'm actually pretty friendly if I'm not being personally attacked. I hope it is over, but I can't help but feel like I've tipped over a domino that has put into place a chain reaction."

Boy, are those cheerleading tryouts going to be interesting with her majesty fuming like she is now.

His eyes seemed to change colour, Aila's own narrowing at the odd sight. It was there and gone too quickly for her to properly see it though, the girl chalking it up as a mild bad-night sleep induced hallucination. Louis then followed after Ren, Aila letting him go without another word.

Yhi stared open mouthed at what had just unfolded. She had idea that such a big thing was happening, and she didn’t really know how to respond. Part of her wanted to go after Ren, but part of her thought she should try finding out more about what happened. She cautiously approached Aila.

She sighed softly, making her way back her Usual table's seat. Yhi spoke up, asking after what had occurred the night before. "You can try speak to her if you want, I fear she'll just blow up at you if it has anything to do with me. You heard correctly...I went to go get some water last night and instead got met by a cobra. I get these--" She stopped herself, about to say the word 'nightmare'. The life-like visions were a weakness of hers, something Aila didn't like admitting to having. In her experience, when people found out you were weak they found a way to use that weakness against you. The incident with Ren was proof of that. Louis' ability had already pulled out the admittance of her getting the nightmares but if she had any control over it she would have as little people know about them as possible.

"--these, um, nights of dehydration. I just wake up in the middle of the night thirsty as hell and it can be a pain." Ailorus covered her tracks, clearing her throat as Mau inched closer. The half-grown lion nudged her hand until he could slide his head underneath it, placing the tips of his paws and his head on her lap.

Izanami's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh! I don't remember that, I just transferred. Buuuut if you do remember seeing somebody that looked like me last year, I sure hope they weren't the reincarnation of Izanagi." Her cherry lips formed into an amused smile as she continued her thought. "I've been looking into my mythology and crap, y'know, and apparently.." The girl leaned in, as if to tell an outrageous secret. "We were supposed to be 'married'." She fake whispered as her hands formed quotation marks in the air, scooching a little bit closer her companion. Hmmm, dunno what that'll mean for me when I turn 21. Not really interested in the whole following your destiny stuff. She thought, furrowing her brow as she looked up towards Alia. "Hey Alia, I couldn''t make it to orientation because of a flight today, damn parents didn't bother to reschedule. Also.. I heard about the whole snake thing.. I'm really sympathetic with you on that. I'm terrified of fire. The witch who did it sounds like a total jerk." Izanami's usual composed façade shattered as she grinned wickedly.

"Don't mind 'assisting' you on pay back.." She trailed off, as the snake herself entered the room haughtily, and sat down at the Elites table. Coulda guessed she hanged out with the hotshots. She quickly settled down, watching the argument ensue. She didn't even flinch when Alia left the table. She was curious herself as to what it was about, and assumed she was going to ask about it. Kinda admire her confidence, gotta say. As the cat goddess sat back down at the Usuals table, Izanami offered the goddess a warm smile, and respectfully extended her pale hand towards her feline accompaniment, letting the lion sniff her first. "What was that all about, Alia?" She asked smoothing down the hem of her kimono with one hand, the other still stretched towards the cat, letting it get used to her presence.

Mors returned from the training room after a heavy match with Hercules, sporting several small bruises on her legs and her side. she walked in, blindfold pulled tight around her eyes, and sat next to Izanami, completely unaware of what had just happened, preferring to simply preen her wings back to their state of utter perfection. "what's up Aila? superbitch decided to make it personal again?" she was picking at the rubble and straw in one of her wings, waiting for the cat goddess's reply.

Aila absent-mindedly stroked her cat's ears, focusing instead on talking to the four people at the table. She had always been friendly with Yhi, Iza, Nina and Mors. They were all from different pantheons but Aila like to think that that's what made it easier for them to get along. Without any expected relations or needing to learn about unruly pasts with deities from the same cultural base, it was easier to start friendships from scratch rather than them be tainted by ideas of what had happened in the past.

She answered Iza's offer of assistance with any payback, but shook her head with a regretful sigh. "Louis had the same idea that I might try and say or do something that will make everything worse. I'm a goddess of warfare, not revenge...at least, that was the past me. I have the same ideals now though. I don't 'get revenge', I just defend myself if need be. I don't see the point in starting or causing the continuation of a 'thing' with Ren, I will however end it if she insists on perpetuating her bitchy attitude."

Mors then joined them and asked a similar question much like Iza had in terms of why this had all gone down. Aila looked to Nina, knowing that she already had a full story of what had happened. As uncomfortable as it was to talk about how she had been made so vulnerable, Aila knew that Ren would be more than happy to tell anyone that asked so there was no point in keeping it a secret.

She looked down momentarily, Ailuros scrunching up her mouth and narrowing her eyes as she pieced together the words. "Her royal highness left me another little gift last night. A cobra this time, less plastic and more scaly than the others at orientation yesterday. I....I got, um, cornered by it. Couldn't move. Snakes are unfortunately a small kryptonite of mine.I screamed. Nina got the door open and--" She was still surprised by the last part, her brows lifting to show her confusion "--...and Louis came too. He's a nature god, so he managed to get the cobra away." She decided to leave out the part about what he said just before he left, the girl looking around the table at her...friends?

Yes....my friends...she decided, smiling at the realization.
