Melody took Mary’s comment to heart, and frowned, it takes one rude, if justified sentence to ruin her mood. Still, she pretended she didn’t know Mary meant, even though she muttering in her head many things that can’t be tastefully stated.
“Alright..I’m sorry..Oh! Sam and Rio how are you doing? Sorry Isolde, I haven’t seen her. Like..everyone is pretty much here though, so if she isn’t here, she’s probably coming. Hello to you too, Stanley.”
Melody didn’t even notice how loud her voice naturally was, and waved to them before going deeper into the library. A few minutes later, she came out and asked Rio something particularly strange.
“Hey, I think sixth and beyond years can go to the restricted section with no permission slip, right? Anyways, I utterly love making potions, and I want to read the recipes in Moste Potente Potions!”
Melody actually has no idea what was in it, but she heard from some class mates how that well..it’s a potions book.

Caleb had gotten lost on his way to the library. He blamed the school itself entirely for that.

He had always harbored the sneaking suspicion that Hogwarts was in some way, sentient. As this was more borne out of a semi-superstitious belief, he kept silent and simply tried to compensate by making a game of finding additional passageways. As he did so, he had the time to contemplate the mystery of their Head of House. Hogwarts usually wasn't exactly a bastion of safety, but the accidents were easily corrected and often was simply a matter of magic gone wrong. With her experience, McGonagall should have known this. So why... Why was she so worried?

What could make a great witch such as her affected so? He realized he was treating this as a very real danger and he frowned to himself as he approached the library doors. Entering quietly, he cleared his mind and looking back and forth, sought out his bookworm friend. He harbored no illusions to his ability to see through a mystery- His preferred method back before he cleaned himself up was to hit things. For something of this nature, he would need-.

With that, Miss Pleiades spun on her foot and walked away from from Melody with a grumble, rubbing gently at the elbow that had impacted with the ground first. After a moment of self-comforting, her hands moved to the next task of importance, digging out the note with the name of the book she required. A Restricted Section book... hopefully, the note was legitimate enough and could serve as a teacher's request that the librarian would have to fulfill if presented to her, or else snatching up the tome would be a hard-sell.

"Miss Pleiades."

He said formally as soon as he was in range. A minor gesture of respect from the Chinese descended boy, to a person he deemed 'friend' from a traditionally rival house. Though he knew she could take care of herself, he went out of his way to ensure her housemates had no reason to believe she was fraternizing with a lion, of all houses. No, this was merely something Slytherin could grudgingly understand. The third-generation Englishman, uncouth and muggleborn who sought out the naturally expertly House of Slytherin. Those who held onto their sneering views were satiated by the muggleborn groveling to one of their own and so equilibrium was preserved. He blamed Mary for that to be honest- Before, he wouldn't have cared what anyone thought and he still didn't.

Mary's reputation was another thing entirely and if a Gryffindor was anything, it was brave. Even if his pride was rankled, as a lion in its den poked by sticks, he would continue to do so.

Happier greetings would be done in private.

But he did come for a reason as he spoke.

"Hey, Stanley!" Rio threw a peace sign Stanley's way, painfully unaware of how the Hufflepuff felt about him. "Yeah, I know, right? I'll probably pop in here during N.E.W.T season a lot, but right now, I really wanna find Isolde." But she wasn't here, huh...

At Melody's question, Rio thought about it. "Uhh...yeah, I think so!" He remembered what McGonagall had said, but brushed it aside. "Why, need me to grab a book for you?" He hadn't been one to frequent the library, but he figured he could help his classmate out.

But he turned to Sam, realizing the poor kid was not doing so well. "Uh...um. Actually, let me see if I can't get a permission slip from McGonagall-just in case." He still needed to look for Isolde with Sam, and this would give him a chance to find her maybe! "Wanna come with, Sam? I think we have good chances of running into Izzy that way."

"Uh huh..." Stanley said absent-mindedly as he nodded, clearly not paying attention to Rio's words while he instead focused on his book. All he knew was that his quip had completely flown over the jock's head. Typical.

However, as Caleb entered the library and began speaking to Mary, Stanley gazed up at him with a quirked brow.

"And who might you be?"
He asked. He wasn't acquainted with everyone in Hogwarts, after all. Perhaps this person could prove to be a good friend.

The group could hear the shushing of the librarian, and that seemed to be the extent of energy she wanted to use up for this specific mission, being deep in what seemed to be far more important work.

Following the notes instructions it didn't take Mary long to find the designated place of what she could assume was a book at the end of it all. The only thing separating Mary and the restricted section was a piece of flimsy rope blocking it out, potentially the librarian as well, though she did seem to be preoccupied for the moment. Who knows how much longer that was going to take though. Looking at the note again the book could be found on the second shelf to the left somewhere in the middle.

As if suddenly noticing Sam, Sandra was ready to pounce when

Not having time to react Sandra could only helplessly watch as Rio and Sam scampered off. "O-oh, thank you! I will do my best!" She shouted after them waving as she did so.

It didn't take them long to find the library and the rest of the group that had gathered there for some reason.

"Don't worry about it, Cato," Mary didn't even turn her head back to speak to her friend, already ducking under the rope without a second thought. Not a flinch had been shown when she herd his voice, having almost expected his appearance and already accepted it. It seemed that, no matter what plan she had in mind, Caleb was dragged along for the ride in some way, and this wasn't going to be any sort of exception, "Something like this doesn't require any help whatsoever when the guard is already distracted. This seemed to be a clean job as the librarian had not noticed a thing. Scanning the bookshelf the note mentioned Mary could see all the text books that had to do with defence against the dark arts, no doubt copies had been moved here when Umbridge made her decree two years ago when she came to power.

While a copy of The Essential Defence Against the Dark Arts probably caught her attention, there was however one other book that stood out even more. The cover was in black leather and if she pulled it out she got a closer look on it.

Secrets of the Dark Arts. This shouldn't be here. It had been in the principals office for who knows how long, what did this mean? It was a new year. Summer was finally, finally over, and she was finally on her way back to school. Though, in all actuality, the young blonde hardly considered Hogwarts to be 'school'. It was practically home, for all intents and purposes; even despite all of the hardship she and all of the other students had faced in their years here. No, that didn't matter one bit to her. After all, all families have problems at one point or another. Obstacles that, regardless of their feelings for one another at certain times, they always come together to fix!

And oh, did she miss her family.

Admittedly, it wasn't like she had been completely isoldeated from this unbiological family over the course of the summer. No, she had sent countless letters and even visited a choice few people occasionally. But more importantly than anything else, she had been constant company to Sam, who was her number one priority. She adored all of her friends, sure, and she treasured Rio with all of her being. But Samael was of her own flesh and blood, even if only partially, and was also the most prone to needing protecting. So it was he that she stood by above all else, and kept a constant teal eye out for. Naturally, any who dared pick on him quickly learned why they shouldn't as well.

That didn't mean she wasn't excited as all hell to be back again, surrounded by friends and fresh faces and more. Much had changed since Voldemort's fall, but she was sure that everything that had transpired was putting them on the path to improvement. But regardless of how bad things had gotten in the past or how much better they were going to be come the future, she bounced in her seat for the entire ride all the same, unable to keep from bombarding both Rio and Sam with commentary and questions from where she sat near them both. After all, they were the two most treasured men in her life; it wasn't as though she'd ever stray far.

Except she kind of did just that come morning.

Intentional it was not, but Isolde had crashed and burned after arriving in the dorms all the same. It would've been nice to get to see her brother or Rio after the ceremony and all to at least utter a good night and a couple of I love you's, even without a hug attached, but even without her brick wall of exhaustion it wasn't as though she was a rampant rule breaker. She wouldn't have snuck out, which also meant she wouldn't have slept late. Even if the idea was probably tempting to some, she had different feelings on the matter. The longer she slept, the longer it was before she could catch up with her friends.

So come morning, she rose early, blew through her classes with anxious and eager but otherwise attentive airs, and tried really hard to not explode due to the extended periods without contact with--

"...Rio? Sammmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyy...?"

Hm. It was lunch period, wasn't it? So why was it that when she walked into the Great Hall that there wasn't even a trace of either of her two most treasured male companions? Confusion lit in her heart for the briefest moment, but flickered out like a dying flame, replaced immediately by worry. It was certain that the pair was fine, but after everything that had happened around this place in the past...

Her mind was set. Any intent to eat was gone, if it had even been there in the first place(she preferred using lunch hour to study anyways), and she immediately took to the halls with her heart of gold racing. "Man, I don't even see Kit-Kat," she muttered to herself with a mild frown, following up by biting her lower lip. Where the bloody hell were they, anyways? Rio may have been sociable, but Samael was hardly the sort to hang around crowds. So if he wasn't in the Great Hall, surely he had to be camped out in some remote hall or room somewhere. She just hoped he hadn't gone too far or shut himself anywhere too nasty.

Well well, what have we here...? One finger had already hooked and begun pulling The Essential Defense Against the Dark Arts from the shelf when the black-spine book caught the Slytherin's curious eyes, hazel irises widening as she read the cover after pulling it free as well. Had Swagglebone placed this one there as well, as some sort of trap along with Essential Defense? Unlikely, given that Umbridge would have preferred just to use some trumped-up offense to punish a vocal student for rather than risk the book itself.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, dear Stanley," However, she didn't have much time to make a choice on whether to take it or not, as she heard the shuffling from the librarian's desk - after a simple dismissal of Stanley's concern, she slipped the second book away and into her robes, not wishing anyone besides him to see it for now along with the other as she scooted under the rope once again. Moving a few feet away and circling around the library to appear as if she hadn't just come from the Restricted Section, Mary couldn't help but groan at the sight of everyone who had appeared suddenly in the library. Knowing how nosy people were, they would try to tag along with them if she began gathering her friends...

Screw it, they can either join or be sworn to secrecy with a threat or two. "Hey, come on," Each person who might call themselves a friend or acquaintance of Mary, from Caleb and Sam to Isolde and her friend Rio, would receive a tap on the shoulder and a demanding gaze as Mary directed to the entrance of the library, "Interhouse study session." For those who knew her mannerisms, they'd understand what a study session with Mary usually entailed when it came to materials and that they were almost never wasted time; however, whether the non-Slytherins would accompany her or not was a real question. Even if she didn't buy into her house's blood purity ideals, she was certainly a.. abrasive person if she thought someone was a disappointment or idiot.

As for the others in the library? They would get a stern glare to dissuade coming along, but somehow, Mary had good reason to believe that they would interfere regardless of her discouragement.

Before Rio and Sam had left, Kit just had to quietly scold his brother for rushing like he did. It fell on deaf ears sadly, but that didn't discourage the young Myre. Turning back to his own bowl he ate quietly , until he happened to look up and see the person both Rio and San had been looking for what felt like no more than five minutes prior. As quick as she entered though, she seemed to leave.

"Ah! Isolde!" he exclaimed as he stood, only to realize how loud he was in and practically shrink a bit, his face burning in embarrassment as ge quickly excused himself from the remaining Hufflepuff tablemates and quickly went to catch up with her, head bowed and eyes on the ground mostly.

In his rush, he'd trip and stumble with a small 'eep', and Isolde would feel the boy bump into her back.

Mary managed to get out just as the librarian came walking by. "Ah, nice to see so many students out here today." Was the woman's only reply as she continued on along the corridor.

If they wanted to investigate the book there was still ample time to do so before the next class started for everyone.

Stanley only sighed and closed up the book with a single hand before proceeding to follow alongside Mary. He had known her for years at this point and with that came the realization that she couldn't be stopped once she had her mind set on whatever it was she wanted to do.

So, when she called an "interhouse study session", Stanley only followed behind with his book safely tucked under his arm.

Exiting her last class before lunch, Nikki sharply rounded the corner and clung to the closest wall to escape the bustling crowd of other students all filing out of their classes at the same time. On the fringe of the wave rolling towards the dining hall, Nikki finally had time to breathe a fatigued sigh now that her intensive first-day classes were half done, while at the same time did she anticipate the next half. Unable to clear her head amidst all the noise, Nikki walked against the pack, knowing she'd escape it sooner or later. Sure enough, the further she strayed, the thinner the crowds became and the quieter the halls were. Finally with room to think, Nikki set her focus on finding someplace specific to hole up in.

What better place than the library?

So, the returning Ravenclaw continued to walk the halls. Unfortunately she didn't quite know the place like the back of her hand after nearly a decade away from it, and without the hustle and bustle of migrating classmates to occupy her thoughts, a slough of second-guesses and doubt quickly filled the vacuum. But still did she walk.

And walk,

and walk,

and walk...in circles.

After her third trip around the same cluster of classrooms, Nikki stopped herself to re-focus herself.
"Okay Nikki, what's your goal here?" she asked herself, "To find someplace quiet so I can think. Now where could a someplace like that be?" she again asked herself, looking down one end of the empty hallway she found herself in, then down the opposite end.

The realization hit her hard and fast once she took a moment to really think about it.

With a long, inward groan, Nikki leaned back against the nearest wall and slid down until she was at last seated. Flipping open her bag, she looked around inside with her hand, but stopped herself from gripping the book she sought to retrieve. Gaining a sidelong grin, Nikki peered into her bag, and held her open palm just above it. Steadily did the book float out from the leathery confines of her bag, and just as steadily did her grin grow into a double-dimpled smile. Raising the book up higher, Nikki very carefully brought her hand around the book to be placed underneath it instead; pushing it upward instead of pulling it upward. Thereafter, she began to bounce it up and down in the air, causing its covers to open and close, making it to appear as though the book was flapping its covers to maintain flight. She stared up at it with eyes glazed over, simply enjoying the rhythmic motion of the flying book mixed with the sheer wonderment magic held. But as she sunk deeper and deeper into thought, her smile faded - not entirely gone, but soulless; artificial.

Melody looked back and forth for the librarian and stepped a bit closer to Rio, and said something in a softer whisper.
“I’ve heard there’s some very interesting books in the restricted section..Oh, if you have to do something else, I can get it myself! Sure, it’s not allowed, but still! Moste Potente Potions, here I come!”
She went from her previous somewhat emptyish mood to a plucky, eccentric one. She waved goodbye and ran to the restricted section, there she looked around carefully and pretended to simply take some books near the section only restricted by rope. When no one was looking, or at least the librarian, she jumped in and began looking for her book. Well, there wern’t very much books in there, so she was bound to find one.

"Hi!" If Nikki looked up she'd see Sandra Mellanox staring down at her with a friendly smile and clipboard in hand. "Could I ask you to sign a petition to save the North American Thunderbird? Every year they lose more and more of their territory and according to statistics by 2020 it will be all but extinct in the wild!" She repeated the same sales pitch that she had for Rio and Sam. "Every name counts!"

This librarian seemed to be utterly hopeless at her job, at least the keeping the students away from things they shouldn't be reading part. It wasn't long before Melody found what she was looking for.

Most Potente Potions was just about in her grasps.

Nikki was so lost in her thoughts, staring up at the dancing book, that she hadn't noticed Sandra approach. So when she was addressed, Nikki gasped, and her concentration was broken. With her spell broken in the shock, Nikki's book immediately fell out of the air, and she reached out to catch it. She nearly fumbled it, but with one lucky grip she clutched it tightly to her chest with a sigh of relief. With her book saved, Nikki's attention shifted to hear out Sandra's pitch, and it appeared to have an instant effect on the newly returned Ravenclaw. Stuffing her book away, Nikki stood, rummaging around her bag for something to write with. "Ohhh, the poor things. I'd love to help however I can!" Nikki assured, wearing an empathetic smile, "Feels like every day I'm hearing about another endangered species. Crazy how global warming has such widespread effects huh?" she commented with an uncomfortable chuckle.

Sandra nodded in excitement at what Nikki was saying. "Right?! It's only fair for Muggles and Wizards to do their part in trying to reduce their burden on the planet! The animals were here long before us after all!" Realizing Nikki was looking for something to write with Sandra handed over her quill. "Like I said, every name counts!"

Melody pulled the book out with haste and skimmed through the contents, as if the title wasn't obvious enough. She smiled goofily and closed the book, proud of what she's just done, after all, McGonagall of all people gave out warnings. Just as she was about to leave, she noticed another open book on the floor, and crouched down to look at it.
"Hmm..Isn't this the book that wails out when shut? If I want to take it I should be real careful.."
She took the other book, as well as the book she was looking for, and began to make her way out, hoping the Liberian doesn't notice the books under the robe, although she tucked it in pretty well.

"Well...guess they're fine, then." Rio watched his fellow classmates take books all willy-nilly, unsure of how to feel. Not very, 'stay under the radar' of them, but Umbridge wouldn't care...right? He hoped not. "Wanna keep looking for Isolde, Sam? She's gotta be somewhere in this huge school."

@Jeremi

The Librarian was busy with restocking and putting books back in their original places for her to notice Melody leaving. It appears that there was to be much reading in her future.
