Is there a way to edit posts by loading a new page or something instead of the inline editor?

Personally, I really dislike the RTE (Rich Text editor). So I always disable it when I join a forum. However, I found here that with it disabled, I cannot edit posts at all. I click the edit button, I get the loading bar thing in the top right corner, but the box never actually pops up to edit...
