I've used first person perspective (both past and present tense) in my own writing. It's a lot of fun in its own way, but it ain't gonna cut it for a roleplay. I mean, an RP is pretty much a story told by an omniscient narrator from the perspective of multiple characters, and if you were writing...

I guess for me it's gotta be the heart of the character-- their motivation, what drives them, why they're there in the story at all. Is it love? Power? Determination to do the right thing? I figure that out and the rest of the character tends to just flow from there.

I've always had a soft spot for the evidently mundane character in the midst of extraordinary circumstances who maybe isn't a great fighter, doesn't have some amazing power, isn't 'special' in any way but gets by on pure guts and determination. The character who gets the hell beat out of 'em but...

I think if somebody goes to the trouble of creating a story, a setting, a world for you to write in, you oughta go to the trouble of creating a unique character to live in that world. I'm also not sure what the fun is in writing a self-insert. Like, I get to be me every day. Don't get me wrong...

Hey hey hey, just dropping a quick little intro. I mostly write on my own, mainly poetry and the occasional fit of fiction, but I've done a little bit of roleplaying in my time and I've always found it to be a real hoot, so here I am. Looking forward to seeing what's in store here!
