James swung their legs over the edge of the loft, kicking them back and forth idly. Their gaze scanned across the foyer below them, the sound of the wind outside rustling the tree leaves echoing in their ears. Tired. They were tired. When would some wretched human buy this godforsaken house already? Being chained to this house supernaturally was so annoying. Every time they tried to leave — they had essentially a twenty foot radius around the house to "explore" — they were plopped right back into the very bed they died in.

They'd read every tome hidden within the depths of the house's library. Every inch of this house had been explored at least 2 times. Since they couldn't leave the house and their stupid twenty foot radius, they couldn't go torment any unsuspecting children. No other ghosts resided in the neighborhood, so they were truly alone. Alone, and frustrated. Throwing their head back, they fell backwards onto the wooden floor of the loft. No noise was made as their back hit the floor, perks of being a ghost. The only noise they made that could be heard were the noises they wanted people to hear.

A footstep into the foyer caused James to jolt back up. Were they hallucinating? . . . They're a ghost. They're the hallucination. Being an idle ghost must really get to them. Directing their attention back to the matter at hand, they let themselves fall off of the loft and into the foyer, standing in the very middle of it. Finally, a human to murder so they could get out of this wreck of a home.
