Ages Eternal and the Hungering Dark (god RP)

Lazzamore

WAAAAAAAAAA-
Dawn rose on a new realities first independent day. Like an infant coming forth from the womb, it's umbilical cord cut, and it's first breath taken. The Allfather breathes in the world's breeze, and exhales it's first wind. The world relaxed into it's firmament. Plant-life and fauna evolved, in a period of time that felt like seconds to the gods. Millions of years have passed, and the world was no longer an infant. Millions more, and it stood on it's proverbial feet, which brought tears to the Allfather's eyes. Still, it was missing something. It needed guardians. The Allfather could see it approaching. The Wolf, starving and mad, drooled from the shadows, waiting for it's chance. This world could not remain unattended.

Hello everyone, Just gathering interest for a new rendition of Ages Eternal! Me and @ChelonianCommander will be running this one.

For those who are unfamiliar with Ages Eternal, I will sum up below:

The Gist

You play as a fantasy pantheon of gods. Each player plays as a god, and controls their many creations and followers. We start out in a primitive, simple world that we add in our designs to, creating races, nations, landmarks, beasts, you name it. The goal of the RP is to be creative with your character and fill the world with ideas related to your godly character.

The Twist

This time, we are not alone. A strange, alien pantheon threatens to overcome us and tries to gather worshipers from our own creations. The exact nature of this force is unknown, though one thing is made apparent: we must not allow them to do this, at any and all costs.

Time Period

Just thought to mention time periods. We didn't want this one to be as long as before, so we have a set goal in mind and a villain. after the villain is thwarted and everyone's ready, we plan to close down the thread and start another thread with another story for our characters. This Ages Eternal will be slightly more episodic, simply because we feel that will help it's maintainability.

EDIT: The Godly Realm

EDIT 2: We have decided to scrap the godly realm idea, the Realm field of your character sheet refers to the favored home of your god in the mortal world. Thank you!

EDIT: Power Level

Before we start, I thought I should make this clear so it's in everyone's mind: All PC's are equal in overall power level as of the start of the game. This doesn't preclude genuine character growth that increases power, of course. Simply that the starting point is an even ground to build onto.

EDIT: Starting Point

Since there's been some confusion as to at what point in in-game history we are starting, I think I should clarify here: The RP will start only shortly after creation, before society has formed and as our gods get into the world in earnest. So at the beginning, we have done very little or nothing to the world yet. We will probably start during or after our gods creation (your choice, if you want to describe your characters birth or not). Don't worry about changing sheets, your's is fine, just bare this in mind for the first post.

Name: H'mog, Lord of Domination
Apperance: H'mog takes the form of a large Orc (or perhaps, Orcs take the form of him) with slate grey skin and mighty tusks. He is cloaked in moss and lichen, and wears a similarly orvergrown beard. His feet are always bare, aside from two milky white snakeskin foot wraps, which despite being perfectly flat, are quite alive. With him always is his Axe of Quaking, a long-axe with a crystal shaft and solid head made of meteoric iron ore.
Domain: Domination, Stubborn Will, Orcs, Earth. H'mog's color is Grey.
Motives: To dominate, and lead his children to dominate. This must be done legitimately, of course, H'mog expects true independant strength from those who claim to be in his flock. In the end, H'mog is a perfectionist and will not settle for less, from himself or his people.
Realm: H'mog wanders, primarily, dwelling in no particular place but seeding his children everywhere in the world.
Powers: H'mog can dominate the simple wills of animals, as well as the movement of earth. He can summon rivers of stone and conjure earthquakes, using his longaxe as a focus. But his primary power, perhaps his purpose, is that everywhere he steps he 'seeds' Orcs to spawn. Orcs are apart of him, and he apart of the Orc. The first orcs of a lineage, an even number of male and female, spawn in earth that has been tread upon by H'mog.
Vices: Irrational stubbornness and an inferiority complex. H'mog will stick to his ideals to the end, be it his or his followers, or even his most loved ones, and his inferiority complex is so extreme that he feels he must prove he is superior, at all costs.
Perfered Deciples: His chosen people are the brutish Orcs. that said, other races might come to him and be found acceptable should they show enough will to exert it over others (displaying stubbornness and domination). Warlords, tyrants and their henchman are commonly in this number.
Overview: H'mog is Husband to Wryn. He is also the creator of the Orcs, and he fights for them as both their master and champion defender. Considering much of his perview lies within them, yet he is also their root origin, it is unclear which originated which. H'mog's existance seems to be of Orc morals, but the Orcs could not have predated H'mog. This paradox exists seemingly to confound the universe itself out of sheer Orcish spite.
9c15d0d9a5c7e7ba0a0bacaf1c0ed589.png

Name: Wryn, the Maiden Goddess
Apperance: Wryn appears to be a young human woman who is beautiful and slight in size. She is clothed in a gown of celestial white flowers, their pollen is rich in magical power that she leaves where ever she wanders. This dust is often collected by her druids for their own magic.
Domain: Flowers, Beauty, Enchantment, and a song called the 'Sonnetterus', which has never ending magic lyrics known by all her creations at birth.
Motives: Wryn wishes to inspire and be inspired. She desires for independence for her and anyone associated with her, and loathes outside control over her, and by extension her followers. Wryn wants adventure and romance, restlessly idealizing what she doesn't have only because she has yet to have it.
Realm: Wryn likes to explore and see new things. That said, her motivation for wandering is fueled only by discontentment. She wants to settle in a place, but 'the grass always seems greener on the other side', as they say.
Powers: Wryn's Sonnetterus is apart of her; all her creations subcontiously know the words and can use it's arcane power; The Sonneterus enchants the listener under the spell of the singer, granting the singer supernatural influence over the listener. Wryn's Sonnetterus is particularly powerful, though, since as a goddess she has more magical prowess to use it.
Vices: Wryn is flirtatious and discontent, not merely with her husband H'mog but with much of existance. She constantly wants more from her situation.
Perfered Deciples: Aside from her own creation, she will gladly accept the women of the world and some supportive men into her church as her Druids, whom generally idealizes beauty and independence.
Overview: Wryn is the wife H'mog, though unhappily. She is discontent with her husband, and didn't wish it to happen to begin with. H'mog and Wryn were betroved to be married by the Allfather for unknown reasons. Still though she searches for her dreamt-of romances and adventures, unbeknownst to H'mog of course.

Name: Mallaithu, The consumption of Malice, Fear and Dark Inquisitions

Apperance: The vision of Mallaithu is a dead warped oak, bleak bark crawling with flesh like decay that suffers a screaming paroxysm when he would speak. Creeping array of roots invading stone or earth alike as jagged branches as fingers clawing at one another spire into the sky. creatures of a lesser design (birds, deer etc) that come to close are blessed and turned into an extension of his physical being on the mortal realm, they flee out into the world both tormented and empowered by the flesh rend roots that fester under skin. These may be used as an avatar or killed to seed another tree.

Domain: Fear, Malice, Curiosity into the morbid, forbidden and arcane often leading to a lax or lost in ones morality.

Motives: Basking in blood spilled in hate, lies spun in malice and creeping madness born from questions unanswered, Mallaithu takes revelry--Nay, A near festive debauchery in the chaos he spins and desires only to have it infect the world--to have it all be one grand party for his own sake but as such is jealous of it and desires its safety for it is HIS entertainment but as such leads to self imposed contradictions of having to cull out of control mad men marching to worlds end he himself has made with other mad men.

Realm: Reeitha, a peninsula connected to the main land with a range of mountains cutting it off save for a single valley pass. Mountains give way to jagged stone hills as the slow warping of natural fauna blends the living shades of green to browns and blacks, the area as a whole is abnormal and thick with strange happenings, creatures and sensations. The injection of debasing roots towering into the sky, the earth and out into ocean making navigation hard as from the ground much of the sky is blocked by the arch of these roots--to in which bare alluring and colorful fruit that glow just so at night. This landscape melts into a swamp and there in small marshy islands growing thicker and blacker till even in mid day it would be pitch black on the ground--but one thing stands out one thing within this infected wound on the planet. Single over grown mountain perverts the oceans horizon, hollow and spilt looking like a maw of stone sewn with roots and swampy vines, within unspeakable beauty. Luminous fungi glowing, warm natural springs, painted stones and streaks of ores that act as glistening mirrors all the while glow worms wiggle about strung down their length of silk, All of it so inviting so loving so... perfect. For all its grand natural decore a single monolithic perversion stood out--A single foul oak brooding with unnatural light squirming as if constructed of rotten flesh thick with maggots, 'twas him waiting, listening and whispering.

Powers: To amplify emotions born of fear, hate and dark curiosity, Fleeting thoughts of desire or jealousness made to linger in the mind, to brood and roll slowly infecting a person--a root that branches deeper as time goes on strangling the mind to focus on the negative that in turn would breed action. To hint upon those mortals contemplation of their fears and thoughts in omission of punishment or effect of actions be it stealing, murder, rape, necrophilia, amoral testing, lying, debasing natures rule, slaving, cannibalism, blind pursuit, amoral zeal and even the controlling of nature. He can invoke insanity or horrid clarity, fog the mind with arousing visions of spite and self fulfillment. To be blessed by him is to see so clearly your goal but be driven mad trying to find the path to it that branches and grows the tightening coil of destruction be it outward or inward.

Vices: Suffers from paranoia and jealousness of the other gods, sure that they are up to something while snarling at any type of advancement by their followers. thinking himself the puppet master on his earthly stage makes him a vivid defender of it but in turn fills him with delusions of it being his and his alone making him bitter that he has to share it with others more so when any other person would ruin his theater pouring unhealthy attention into such things.

Perfered Disciples: To steal warp or other wise pervert the followers of the other gods, withering their purpose to an amoral base or warping messages to feed into mad pursuits are Mallaithu desired flock. Those that come to him or laid to influence are tossed to the depth of their own selves in such fever that make them hyper proactive lead in blind zeal, They inspire and often gain some sort of notoriety be it good or bad and with a guile only the devote could command spread their thoughts and actions out into their world infecting it as a venom.

Overview: The tears of the allfather, his love of his creation, wept for his maturing world in joy yet woe was it as those tears sank unto the infinite black and condensed slowly into a being of that same love--but horridly warped. Forged into Mallaithu the Consumption, loving the creation gifted to him.

MIGHT EDIT

Name: Mabon

Apperance:
Mabon is an archnoid centaur, similar to a Drider, with a pale spider like body with a human torso where the head should be and six spider like legs. Her skin is pale, her hair and eyes are entirely black, with the latter resembling gems. Mabon has a set of extra arms attached to her shoulders that end in scythe like blades and instead of human like teeth her mouth is full of needle like teeth. She wears a frilly dress of either white or grey in color and often wears one of many different necklaces around her necks, made by her servants or gifted to her by her guests.

Domain:
Goddess of the Caverns, Spiders, Indulgence, and Civility

Motives:
Mabon simply wishes to allow those who wishes to indulge in the finer pleasures of the mortal world to be able to, as long as they follow her rules and sacrifice their mortal soul for something greater. However indulgences does not mean one does not cannot be civil. Those who are found less them civil in her court are at best exiled or at worst consumed by their peers.

Realm:
The Cavernous Manor: an extravagant manor made of stone pillars, stalagmites and stalagmites along with a fountain of clear spring water, and a hedge-maze made of webbing and carapace. Many spider like creatures wander around carrying stone platters of drink and food as well as doing the labor such as cleaning and cooking and underneath the manor is a storeroom of 'wine caskets' which are in reality the trapped body bags of unfortunate victims who were bitten by Mabon or her servants and were left to digest and liquefy into a fine drink for the Court. Located everywhere in the manor are secret rooms where guests can participate in less then civil activities away from the prying eyes of their peers and located deep under the Cavernous Manor is a sanatorium where those who have given up to their bestial indulgences are locked up until they are used for the many games Mabon hosts, or until they are released onto those who dare confront Mabon's rule. Strangely enough there is a garden that grows pale fruit and vegetables with little or no light, and surrounding it is a stone gate that is guarded by 20 of her servants who only allows those with an invitation from Mabon herself are allowed to enter.

Powers:
Mabon has dominion over all spiders, specifically those who reside in the caves and tunnels underground and can see through their eyes, as well as the eyes of her servants and shrines dedicated to her. She is able to see clearly in dim/non-existant light and can spin a tough silk from her abdomen. She has the ability to inject a virulent venom through her fangs that causes paralyzation, and the liquidation of flesh after a certain period of time. The liquid flesh empowers her and grants her greater strength for a short time and heals her wounds. Finally Mabon has the ability to grant people lesser versions of her powers by having them drink her blood. Those who drink her blood become pale like her and their teeth become sharp and needle like.

Vices:
Mabon is rather vain, thinking herself more proper and sophisticated then the other gods. She has a taste for the finer things, wishing to taste the most exotic foods and drinks and throws lavish events that ranges from the mundane to the exotic and then to the extreme. She indulges in all delights from food and drink to more physical and sensory pleasures such as music and poems and encourages her guests to do the same, indulging in all their desires to their hearts content until the exotic eventually turn to the mundane and will never settle for anything less. However she is also a rather particular goddess. Her guests are allowed to dine, feast and please themselves and others as much as they want, only if they remain civil and follow Mabon's rules. Mabon is wrathful goddess and those who break her rules are punished accordingly with those lucky enough to simply be exiled while those unlucky are to be imprisoned in the courts dungeons and be used for everything from blood games, to being butchered and fed to their peers.

Preferred Disciples:
Mabon has no species she prefers, but instead simply those who wishes to seek out greater indulgences will eventually seek her out and should they decide to give up their mortality for the honor of becoming part of Magon's court. All they need to do is to make a shrine to her and prove to her that they deserve to attend her Endless Ball.

Overview:
Mabon was once a god worshiped by a dead underground race as a god of pleasure and joy. Grand parties and balls were made in Mabon's honor as the race saw their peace and prosperity was because of her. The race knew no trouble nor hardship being a thriving society separated from the surface world and thus were allowed to take part in all the pleasures their world has to offer. However with nothing to trouble them, the race soon began to take part in more exotic rituals. At first it was perhaps some blood sport here and their or some crazed man consuming his servant out of boredom, but as time went on the pleasures required to stimulate the race began to grow ever more hedonistic and barbaric in their indulgences and as well as worship as a result. Centuries went on and the race had turned Mabon into a goddess no longer a humble goddess of simple pleasures of life, but now she was seen twisted creature made into a beast of pure gluttony and lust as her people killed themselves in their frenzied indulgence and finally the once great civilization was destroyed by their own pleasures. The tunnels ran red and the stench of corpses was unescapable. Time took its toll and covered up all evidence of the race's existence, however the All-Father saw it all and saw potential in Mabon. He granted the goddess life, making her real and gave her her people's domain, the caverns, as her realm and gave her a second chance to truly serve her purpose.

However when she died, she was a goddess of indulgence and blood, but now resurrected and with no intention of letting history repeat, she set to make a set of rules for those who wish to indulge in their desires and made sure to invite only those who she things truly deserves an eternity of pleasures.

Side note this is subject to change, though technically it is a completed sheet. I may come back and perform edits or add-ons before the RP actually starts~

Name
: Tim Finnegan

Appearance: Finnegan appears as a simple creature, for his followers are simple folk. He has many forms, one for each mortal race (Although he mostly appears human). This is because he doesn't only want to inspire mirthfulness, but wants to participate in the festivities and row. Despite this, Finnegan has several defining features he carries through all his forms. His somewhat portly frame always has: jovial rosy cheeks (which are full of accompanying laugh lines), sparkling amber eyes that swirl like a fine liqueur, a relaxed air of warmth and mirth, and a deep, resonating chuckle~
(His form always has Muddy Red as the races defining color (E.g. Hair for humans, Scales for lizardfolk, skin for orcs, etc))

Domain: Mirth, Alcohol, and Ecstasy ( A bit redundant, but you get the idea ;p )

Motives: Tim's desires are purely to spread mirth and ecstasy to all living things. He firmly believes that everyone should enjoy the life their granted, and though work is important, not all the day should be wasted in the droll monotony. The god will go to almost any lengths to brighten the lives of his followers, whether that be through drink or dance, he's always ready to inspire mirth.

Realm
: Finnegan has no true home instead making it wherever his followers are. Tim Finnegan resides everywhere he's needed: Bars, Towns/Villages/Cities, Festivals, The Open Road, Peoples homes, etc etc.

Powers: Finnegan has the power to cause drunkenness at will and enhance the affects of drink over any creature. He can turn any liquid to alcohol. He has the ability to enhance Ecstasy and Mirth in creatures, even to the point of incapacitating them. Tim carries with him a constant air of Mirth that makes those around him more prone to jovial moods and general happiness.

Vices: Tim Finnegan has a hard time seeing the big picture, preferring to live in the now. This leads to a general shortsightedness. Being a god of Ecstasy, Mirth, And alcohol, Tim can be prone to an over indulgence and desire for pleasure above his own well being.

Preferred Disciples: Common folk, people who live hard lives deserve a little release and relaxation every now and then. Though he accepts all who comes to him, and considers all who enjoy life to be his disciples.

Overview: Tim is an odd god, for the fact that he is said to be born out of the need and the lamination of the mortal creatures (Perhaps even the world itself) for Ecstasy and release from the pains and hardships that they endure.

Naelio's Mortal Form (art by ManaBreakfast)

Name: Naelio (Nal-Io)
Appearance: Naelio normally appears as an enormous iridescent serpent marked with astrological diagrams. His eyes are completely black and filled with stars.
However, like most deities, Naelio also has a mortal form; which takes the shape of a tall, scaled man with a serpent's head. The color and pattern vary, but his eyes are always black with cross-shaped, white pupils.
Some say Naelio's eyes contain the entire night sky.
Domain: Messengers, Travel, Stars, Secrets, and Serpents
Motives: Naelio, as he would put it, is a simple fellow. He is content to serve his own devices and play his role as messenger of the gods. At least, that's what Naelio tells others. In secret, he takes great delight in playing tricks, gathering secrets, and indulging in less-than-savory pleasures.
Realm: At the top of any sufficiently tall mountain, or in the frozen north, where the Aurora Borealis dances in the heavens, one can make contact with Naelio. His residence, however, is on a much grander scale. Between the jealous moon and the earth lies the night sky where Naelio truly resides. He weaves between the stars, whispering secrets in the wind.
Powers: As the god of Travel, Naelio can go anywhere in the world (save for places he is unwelcome), and even slip between realms if he so chooses. Naelio also holds power over the Stars and night sky, which he can twist into physical form. Though he cannot directly control them, Serpents are his messengers. They carry out most of his work.
To those who attune their ears to his voice, he imparts secrets and hidden wisdom. To his most favored, he may even give a slice of the night sky to shape for themselves. He is also known to curse those who offend him with crippling and deafness.
Vices: Naelio is lecherous and impulsive, taking lovers on a whim. He is a trickster and will go a long way for a laugh, often at the expense of his kin.
Preferred Disciples: Naelio's own people, Serpents and Serpent-men, are his stereotypical followers, but any race who cares to listen can be blessed by the god. Those who travel great distances to commune with him, and those with sharp wit are Naelio's favorites.
Overview: Naelio deals in secrets. As messenger of the gods, he knows a fair few already. A curious and sly fellow, Naelio enjoys his kin but cares for himself above all. He's infamously fond of women.
His creations, the Serpents and nomadic Serpent-men, usually share these qualities.

Name: Letherion, Dragon Lord, The Living Storm
Appearance:
tqHMUbhNiNgGzmqq0Fh5cPGYHod-RvsxMZvMchg8CTlYW6AmQ8ahyeVe_AshxCI4uGskQP5C1aEIUWBMb3R1MA0-0F-TUHtm8HCM05-4-mT8pVo4hmJE2TYAIqftdZc42COJ5T_Z

When taking a mortal form, he appears as a young white haired man, with piercing purple eyes. Wearing no shirt and using large black wings as a cloak. His arms and legs are covered in black, iridescent scales.
Domain: Dragons, Storms, Wealth, Agelessness
Motives: To guide his people to their place beside him in agelessness by following his trials and proving themselves worthy of his gifts.
Realm: Within the skies wherever he roams and the ground wherever he treads.
Powers: Letherion can become a living storm, be it lighting, fire, earth, or ice, he has many forms and control over the elements his storms can take. In both forms he has monumental strength and durability, his scales shrugging of many forms of attack. He can grant his people, those who are of dragon's blood, agelessness, being able to be forever young, never aging, but still able to die to battle or sickness. To achieve this they must pass trials. The first they must amass a hoard of wealth and then give it away to others willingly, spreading the wealth. The second, they must endure the full brunt of every type of storm that exists. The third, is kept secret as to revealing it would make it futile and useless. He can also strip his people of their power and intelligence, turning a proud and intelligent dragon into a raging lizard who follows only it's base instincts.
Vices: Letherion is a proud being, overly so, to the point that he sees most that aren't dragons as beneath him and not worthy of his time or attention, but this changes as does his mood, like the weather he can be calm and patient or he can be a raging storm destroying everything in his path.
Preferred Disciples: Letherions disciples are those of dragon's blood. Dragons, half dragons, dragon kin. Even those with just a drop of dragon's blood in their veins is worthy in his eyes to be his disciple and are considered one of his people.
Overview: Letherion was birthed from the conglomeration of the storms of the planet. He is the first and most powerful of the dragons, in essence what every dragon aspires to be. And his first children, the first mortal dragons, were born when his blood fell to the earth from his godly form. The dragons were different as from the different storms Letherion was as they fell. Some were born with the ability to spit flames and swim through fire, some lighting, some earth and some ice, each possessing a portion of his elemental control.

Name: Oshia

Appearance: Oshia’s appearance could be described as being somewhat mermaidlike, possessing a somewhat humanoid torso and a long eel-like tail from the waist down. Her slippery skin is dark green with splotches of a lighter shade of green here and there. A thin layer of mucus keeps her hydrated even on land. However, all similarities to an eel-maid end from the neck up. Oshia’s headresembles that of an anglerfish, complete with an impressive set of jaws and a luminous lure protruding from her forehead. Her eyes are of a similar hue to her skin ,but lighter in shade, with horizontal-slit pupils.

She dons a cloak of kelp and presumably nothing else underneath. There’s kinda nothing to hide anyways, she’s more fishlike than mammalian.

Domain: Oceans, aquatic life, and saltwater.

Motives: At first glance, she wants nothing populate the seas with as many diverse creatures as she can come up with. But sometimes she has to admit, expanding the oceans (and thus her power over the world) does sound rather appealing. She’s too lazy for that however and that’s enough to dissuade herself from the idea.

Realm: Oshia generally lurks in the ocean depths but occasionally takes her rest in the Kelp Caverns, a cozy little underwater cavern deep in the southern sea hidden behind a forest of kelp.

Powers: As the goddess of the ocean, she would be most known for controlling the waves, tides, and the migratory patterns of sea animals. On a somewhat less observable note, she can also control the salinity of sea water and thus able to render certain areas of the sea unlivable when she wishes.

Vices: Her greatest vice would be sloth and misplaced priorities. The only thing this lazy goddess would bother making an effort for is in the creation of new critters - something that she seems to be almost entirely fixated on. Near everything else is just simply not worth even leaving the Kelp Caverns. She’s also rather apathetic to anything that’s not happening on her turf. There might be hints of greed (or rather, powerlust?) in her...

Preferred Disciples: Oshia’s followers typically consist of amphibious fishfolk of her own creation. She’s not picky when it comes to disciples really, anyone who wishes to live alongside the oceans is more than welcome. Even more so if they can survive in the open seas. The more the merrier, she’d say.

Overview: The goddess of the oceans was born on the ocean floor, formed out of the dirt and debri that have settled to the bottom. She probably would have stayed there too if she hadn’t realised how vast the ocean was. And how relatively unpopulated it was in her eyes. And that was when she decided, she would expand her horizons.

My vote is Free for all, honestly. I don't really want to do turns, but if we can all commit to rounds (all of us post once before posting again) that would be fine. We should take a vote between the two; What do you guys think?

Free for all has always been the norm for this RP. People tend to post one after the other anyway.

I would say we keep it.
