Aliens and Monsters and Heroes -- 1x1 with ObsidianLight

As soon as Nova stepped through, she prepared to hold back the Prince from returning to Mewni. She drew her bow from its secret holding spot in a way denoting that she was readying to defend them if there were any strange dangers on this new planet, but she kept her eyes on Leon. It may sound incredibly disloyal, but she was ready to draw an arrow and threaten to shoot the Prince if he tried to get through the portal again. Hopefully he wouldn't call her bluff. Maybe that idiot Cassiopeia would help. He didn't want to go back to Mewni -- maybe that would cause him to assist in keeping Leon away. If Leon went back, so would Cassiopeia.

Vulcan worked on pushing away his lasting horror at how close he had come to getting Luna punished for something that wasn't her fault. It was true that he had witnessed to skill of females to wake up when they wanted, but really, he didn't blame Luna. She hadn't thought about it. He hadn't thought about it. It was his fault for not setting an alarm. He gave himself a hard shake when he stepped onto the beach through the fiery circle and looked around, trying to find something to think about. There really wasn't anything.

"ROARRRRRR!"

Vulcan and Nova spun around to see an enormous grey-green beast of some kind surging out of the ocean. The six foot spikes all over it's body were dangling with seaweed, and it's bleary orange eyes with pupils like a cat's rolled around the scene. It rose higher and higher, ten, twenty, thirty feet into the air. It started to block out the rising sun, then did, casting a black shadow over the beach.

The people on the beach ran for their lives. Nova had an arrow in the air in two seconds, but it bounced off the scales of the monster. She sent another and another, trying to find a weak spot, but all the arrows did were annoy the creature, and it bore down on them. Vulcan squeaked and ran for it. Nova grabbed to Prince's arm and hauled him away and the monster's clawed feet pounded the sand, closer and closer. The portal still stood open, but the three Mewnians were too far any for Leon to even have a chance of getting to it.

Then the monster stepped on the portal, and with an explosion that shook the ground, the portal burst up, the fire cutting the monster neatly burning off half of the monster. It groaned and fell to the ground, utterly dead. The scent of scorched monster flesh permeated the air, maybe Vulcan and Nova feel sick.

Vulcan stared at corpse of the beast. "What the hell is that?"

"And where did it come from?" asked Nova, also staring.

(I'M SO HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN!!! I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE NOT DEAD.)

Leon was gapping, but soon a mournful look crossed his face. The portal--his only way of getting out of this place--was too far away for him to make any moves to get to it. He looked at the monster, his stomach doing a couple jumping jacks. He coughed at the stench, fanning the air around his face.

"I have no idea what it is or where it came from, but I do know that it wasn't very happy with us."

He looked around, realizing they were the only ones left on the beach, but sirens could be heard in the background, slowly getting louder. As much as he wanted a chance to get through that portal, it seemed they couldn't stay on the beach for long. He had to think fast, if he couldn't get to that portal sometime within the next half hour, then he'd be stuck on Earth. Angry and irritated, he growled.

"C'mon... we'd better get out of here." He said to the two.
