A long time ago, longer than anyone can know, a man only known today by his last name, Ardin, found that man could manipulate four elements. Air, earth, fire, and water. He also found that one could only control one of those elements. Intrigued by his discovery, he dug deeper, found four people who knew how, and created a school to teach people how they could control their element with the knowledge of those four. Though Ardin is long gone, his school remains open, with potential students scrambling to join. Despite the amount of sparring that the different houses do with each other, they are encouraged to unite, not as their respective elements, but as one, the secret ultimate protection for the school. The appropriate age to join is eleven, and the age that most leave at is seventeen.

When new students come to ASE, they are first sorted into a house that represents each element. The way a student is sorted is: Said student enters a completely stone room that has a spiral cut into the floor. There are four pedestals in each corner. The water pedestal is more of a bowl with water inside, the fire pedestal has a piece of wood burning, the earth pedestal has a rock, and the air pedestal has a ball of mist floating above it. The student who's in the room then goes to each pedestal and touches the element on that pedestal, fire last for the student's safety. If the element they touch does the opposite of what it normally does, then the student belongs in that house. With water, it would be harder to break the surface. With earth, it would bounce. With air, the ball of mist would fall, but not break. With fire, it wouldn't burn the student. Fire students are stereotyped to be bold, protective, and the ones with the most offense, along with Earth. Water and Air students are stereotyped to be the thinkers of the four and are more careful.

The lessons are Introduction to the Elements, Element Essentials, Uses of the Elements, Combative Nature of the Elements, and Uses of Mixing the Elements. Let me know if there should be any others.

Personality: Although he tries to appear as "that cool teacher" who you can relate to and ask questions to without being afraid, he accidentally assumes the role of someone who doesn't quite get the jokes in the right way. He is usually tough but fair: a person who's got high expectations but is ultimately quite reasonable. His previous students might not be too fond of him initially, but they always seemed to respect him by the end and often achieve the best results in education due to his dedication to his subject. Due to him struggling to grasp the nuances of teen interactions, he can appear aloof but he genuinely wants them to succeed in the best way possible at life.

Role: Teacher / Air

Additional Information: He is the only air element user in his family of water element users and hence has a strong understanding of how water and air can complement each other. Strongly dislikes classism and hierarchies forming in student bodies based on ability.

Personality: A hard working and dependable girl who always tries her best at what she does. Seren is also loyal to a fault. The eleven year old also possesses a stubborn and curious side that often gets her into trouble. She's also quite reserved.

Seren is the first person in her family that is able to use an element.

Personality: Care-free, energetic, rebellious, and competitive Art likes to spend his time testing his limits and randomly engaging with others. He was born thinking that his gift made him a cut above others, and has little issue finding some way to try and show off.
Role: Student: Water
Additional Information:
Art's family claim that they're descendants of the first Water element user found by Ardin, and as such have instill a sense of "superiority" through their bloodline that continues down as an instilled lesson. While some in the family have manifested other elements, the family only puts their focus on developing those that display a Water element, leaving those without one or displaying another as a side-thought to the matriarch's agenda.

Personality:
Unequivocally known as the “Dorm-Mother,” Danae-Alisse is a calming, young woman who works to bring serenity and happiness wherever she goes. An emotional pillar that is both dependable and understanding, willing to listen to anyone’s problems, be it their darkest fear or simply how that one teacher is assigning too much homework. She always seems to have the time, even if it means missing part of a class or an activity, she’ll drop everything to care.

With regret, while all of this is quite true, there is a façade to her outward demeanor. Inside, she’s breaking apart. Intense emotional problems with roots in her past along with all the expectations of the students and staff, along with the war now surrounding the school has put Danae-Alisse’s emotional stability in a frightful state. Very near a full breakdown, all it will take is a single solid push to shatter everything. One can only imagine what will happen when it does.

Personality:
A good natured young man who enjoys the simple things in life. Like the leaves changing color, a freshly killed rabbit, babies being born, and just the socially usual day-to-day things of school. Most people find him quite strange. He himself finds everyone else equally strange. To him, people of this society move too fast, rushing by everything worthwhile in life. They’re quick to fall in love, quick to fall out of it, quick find new love again. Why not take one’s time on these things? Take it step by step. The solutions to problems don’t need to be immediate, but nor should one give up in the face of adversity. Persevere with heart and courage and one will overcome most any obstacle. Take nothing for granted for everything is like fire. Blazing bright one moment, doused the next. Fleeting images that must be treasured, but not hoarded. His strange manner and lack of relative social skills make this young man hard to grasp, except for his closer friends.

Name: Rhylihan Tal
Age: 41

Gender: Male

Appearance: Clad in an exhausted robe flush with sun damage and years of punishment Rhylihan towers in 6'1". Well shaven head misshapen from old and ghastly wounds plays throne too eyes blazed with fascination in the actions and growing of his students, Sporting a sturdy body custom to weight of armor and a back pack full to a greedy limit. Rhylihans heavy robe flows down his body to the floor keeping his feet out of sight, it hints to having once some design of a coat of arms or a band of some sort but is nothing more than a blotch of color on its back now. Silver trim fabric walls the edges of the robe kept in place with rather clean patch work from older damage leaving the places around the hood and sleeves oddly clean with their original color.

His right hand dressed in a fine steel gauntlet as it vices the earthen staff that wears a coat of bound leather along its mid section and crowned with jagged crystal; dented and chipped to a vile edge clearly used. Upon his waist a fine leather belt with links that latch to pouches and bags full of stones, small books and a small line of vials each full of some strange fluid.

Personality: He is a man enthralled, drunk---Near blinded by the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of magic and its true nature, All he has done in his life is to push spell weaving to its extreme exploring the unknown. Years spent risking his life to find inspiration in the aggressive world of contracts and bounties has found himself in a state of mental block. Finding a new joy in teaching others has gifted him a new window of insight through the curious minds of his students humbling him more times than he would care to state. Soft spoken and rather blunt while being deathly serious in his teaching has painted him to the student body as a grim and harsh teacher with abnormally cruel methods of teaching. Having seen when magic can do to others and what can happen when its poorly handled his harshness stems from a worry and care for the well being of those under him.

His blind chase of understanding and power has lead him down dark paths but each time he had the clarity to pull back but has time goes on and the weight of his mortality becomes ever more the cage he drowns his mind in malefic "what if's" While he does well to keep his desire and fear of those pursuits under control the uneasy of his mind festering with those thoughts make other teachers take caution around him but disregard it as him just being a odd person.

Additional Information:
+ While he has stressed keeping his past out of the sight of others it is known he was some sort of sell sword, the nature of his jobs are unknown.
+Keeps an extensive garden full of strange and odd flora from around the land.
+Some times makes staves for his students that show promise.
+Has a sweat tooth and is somewhat embarrassed about this going to great lengths to keep it unknown.
+Has a large pet snake named loaf who is a pudgy little creature. dances when you sing its name to it. Can be unsettling fast and has been seen slithering along stone walls facing the sun.

Name: Mavis Miller
Age: 11
Gender: Female
Appearance: Mavis is an average height for her ages. She has hazel brown hair and pale blue eyes. Her hair finishes at her shoulders and she ties two small part of her hair up on each side up with red ribbons. She has light-toned skin with an oval-shaped face. Her smile is huge and bright. (Sorry I know my description isn't very good, I can make a chibi or something if it helps)
Personality: She is very lively and energetic. Never being able to keep herself still it can become a bit annoying to the people around her. She is very proud of her school and shares a lot of team spirit. She is also proud of herself and tends to carry herself that way as well. Always seeing the positives in any situation and loves making new friends and discoveries. She is very confident and considers most of her friends as her family. Due to how bubbly and happy she is and always seems to be on some sort of sugar high she tends to find it hard to empathise with others when they are feeling down. She can sometimes find herself upset or angry, though this will only ever be because someone has hurt someone she considers family. She is sometimes just off in her own world as she is quite creative so sometimes needs to be brought back down to earth a little bit

Additional Information: Mavis doesn't yet know how to use or control the power she has, though the air around her does seem to change if she gets very emotional which doesn't always work in her favour

Name: Cherry Garcia
Age: 11
Gender: Female
Appearance: Cherry is short for her age. Her hair is light pink and goes down to her hips when she has it tied up in two high pigtails most of the time, she has bangs which she sometimes clips away from her forehead, but only ever if she is feeling confident. She has deep green eyes and freckles that are over the bridge of her nose. She has ghostly pale skin.
Personality: Unlike her element would suggest, Cherry is a very nervous and shy person. Mavis is one of her childhood friends and tends to let her do the talking and she follows her around like a lost puppy. When she does talk she is quite quiet and can sometimes stutter depending on how comfortable she is with the person she is speaking to. Even though she is shy and quite reserved, she has extraordinary passion in the people and things she loves, and can be quite stubborn about her ideas and the things she believes in.
Role: Student of Fire
Additional Information: Cherry's stutter can come and go depending on how she is feeling in a situation and it tends to be the letters s ,d and t she gets stuck on. Her power is currently quite weak and may stay this way though if she learns some good tactics she may be able to use it and still have a chance at winning a fit or using her power in other ways

Name: Mr Winterwood
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Appearance: He is a tall and well-built man. He is bold with jet black bushy eyebrows and green eyes. He has a slight tan and freckles down his arms. (Again, this is not a great description but I could make a chibi if it helps)
Personality: He can flip from being happy and encouraging to being mean, strict, and scary in an instant. Though he is not sure why this happens he just goes with it as it keeps the students in check and he hasn't gotten fired yet. You could say he doesn't seem to follow the rules of being a teacher too much or is a bit too laid back and may seem to not care about his job, but can definitely protect his students and takes things seriously when needed. He is also overbearing and a teacher the students are sure to remember long after graduating, some of good reasons and other for bad reasons.

Additional Information: He likes to think he gets along well and is friends with the other staff members, though some do find him hard to work with or someone they would rather not associate with. He is quite powerful and has full control of his powers

Name: Ms Fox
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Appearance: She is an average height for her age and has quite the delicate figure yet is slightly overweight. She has dark brown eyes, long black hair which she ties up in a high ponytail, and dark skin. (Another not very well described one.. sorry about that. Again I could do a chibi or something for a visual is needed)
Personality: She is a very lovable person who takes her job very seriously. It's her life's passion to teach and she does a good job of it. Always putting her students first and seems to be quite the mother figure for some of her students. Always ready to offer advice and is very thoughtful about the things she says and does.
Role: Teacher, she is a water element
Additional Information: She does consider Mr Winterwood a friend and tries to look out for him as she knows what he can be like. She also used to be very selfish and bad things happened to the people around her and this is why she is now very caring and how she is today. Her powers are not the strongest out there but she definitely knows how to use them

Personality : She's really innocent and cute, she's lesbian, she's extremely shy and gets flustered very easily, really smart but really immature, doesn't show her feelings, always looks happy, loves physical contact, secretly depressed, introvert, tsundere, creative, clumsy, gets distracted very easily, doesn't know how to defend herself, not very brave, doesn't talk much, insecure, doesn't trust people easily.

Additional information : She has a rough life at home, she has a kitten and loves to draw, has a beautiful voice but never shows it, usually puts make-up on to hide when her parents hit her but it can be removed very easily (she doesn't know that) people often think she's dumb because of how immature she is, she got bullied in her old school, has a tendency of hurting herself, is very good at hiding it but almost got caught once, loves the teacher and hates bullies but is too scared to do anything about them and has a plushie that she brings everywhere but hides it.

Appearance: Piercing green eyes, she is quite tall and built. Long black hair and she usually wears a white T-shirt and trousers.
Personality: She is kind and outgoing, often talking about everything she can think about, usually leading to some random conversation. She is sarcastic and witty. She makes jokes even out of serious situations to try and cheer everyone up. She hates rude and cold people, as it usually leads to them insulting her.
Role: Student, fire element.
Additional info: Liliana came from a harsh family, training her to her max, physical potential. Any mistake is rewarded with punishment. Hence her outgoing nature. She tries to cheer people up so nobody feels the same as she did.
