Azoria (Sign-Up and OOC)

Plot: Azoria is a rather large city with the worst crime rate in the nation. It's a big city with your normal stuff; tall buildings, skyscrapers, you name it, it's here. But that's not what makes this city stand out from all the rest. Azoria is a city with the most mutants and super-powered humans on the planet. Even magic users. There is a law that is strongly against mutants however. Often hunting them down, locking them away, experimenting on them, you name it, it's being done to them. Some however wish to change the world and make others see that mutants aren't as bad as everyone likes to believe. Others don't bother trying. Why protect a world that hates you? Others are corrupt and twisted in their own ways, instead of helping, they ruin the image further.

The government is corrupt. They don't care about anyone or anything. Only themselves. There are a few kind souls however, but it is rare. Anyone that is 'different' is treated like an outcast. A monster. A freak. A demon. And they have ways to deal with those types.

And they're not very good ones...

The heroes and sometimes even villains alike, are going to have to put a stop to many threats that befall Azoria. They will be put to the test, pushed far beyond their limits. But will they be able to succeed?

Rules: 1. No godmodding or powerplaying obviously.

2. No one-liners since the Roleplay really doesn't go anywhere with them. At least a paragraph or more please.

3. You can have as many characters as you'd like, just keep track of them all and use them. Though I will make a list of who controls what Pokemon to help keep things in order and for everyone to remember what characters they play in the Roleplay.

4. Be sure to include other Roleplayers in your posts. No one likes feeling left out. We're all here to have fun and Roleplay after all. That can't happen if people are ignored. So do your best to include other people's characters in your posts.

5. Your characters cannot be overpowered or be perfect. That takes the fun out of the Roleplay and story. So please, don't do this. I know this is a super-human Roleplay, but please give them flaws and weakneeses.

6. Romance is allowed but keep it PG.

7. This Roleplay is LGBTQ friendly. If that's not your thing, maybe don't join. I won't stand for hate or bashing.

8. You can write in third or first person, whichever is easiest for you!

9. Have fun and enjoy yourselves! Please don't stress out about this. It's meant to be fun.

10. Site rules apply obviously.

Name: Elsie Walker

Nickname: Ellie, Dead Fish

Villain Name: Lady Cosmos

Age: 14

Gender: Female

Appearance: Elsie is a somewhat short child, having yet to grow past 4'10" in height. She has a bony build and wouldn't seem to be a hero in appearance, but she certainly has non-human traits. Elsie has two forms: Her normal form, and the form she uses when using her magic. In her regular form, Elsie has bubblegum pink hair that has a natural split down the middle to separate it into two long bunches that reach her knees. She also has bright blue eyes that are only bright in color- they have little to no sparkle in them, as if lifeless for reasons unknown. In her magical form, however, her casual clothes change into a gothic dress, and her hair turns black.

Powers/Gadgets: Elsie, a magical girl of sorts, has the power to control cosmic energies and make use of space debris with just her mind and a lot of expendable energy. An example of her power is pulling asteroids or meteors towards the planet and driving them into the land or onto her enemies. This is in fact her primary attack, actually.

Personality: Elsie has two personalities, which cause people to have a harder time distinguishing her from her dark side. When in normal form, Elsie is a quiet girl with an albeit calculating personality. She has a high mental aptitude, but only really uses it if there's a dire situation. She's a bit cold to those around her, at least outside of her close knit group of friends. She's known by friends to be a skeptic about the supernatural and hard to scare, and also very sarcastic. When in her magical form, however, Elsie's personality takes a turn for the worst. Her calculating demeanor turns into pure sadism, and she gains great joy watching people suffer. Not one to get her hands dirty alone, she uses her cold yet calm and calculating demeanor to gain 'friends' and 'allies', though she treats them all as peons due to her ego.

History: Elsie is the only child of a broken household. When she was eight, her mother remarried a violent drunk, whom she was forced to live with due to her age. Because of the violence against her and her mother, Elsie often avoided going home. She found a safe haven with an older girl who saw her one day walking down the street, covered in cuts and bruises. The older girl couldn't leave her alone, and took her home to tend to her wounds. Upon seeing her, the older girl's parents decided to take her in permanently, though never sought to adopt her.

When she turned twelve, something major happened. She was finally 'found' by her mother and violent stepfather, and forced to return home to them because the police refused to arrest them when she'd been 'kidnapped' and 'just remembered things wrong'. When she found a peculiar letter in her mailbox one day, it told her it was going to save her life- and, the moment she felt her body change, her sadistic mind came to the forefront. Not knowing how to control her new powers yet or even what they were, Elsie unintentionally brought her house down by pulling a small asteroid to plummet onto the house with her stepfather still inside. When her mother arrived, she fled the scene, and hasn't been seen in her home town since.

She arrived in Azoria and decided it was a good place to set up shop to start enjoying her newfound powers. And that, friends, is when she decided the world would know her name- no, not Elsie Walker, but "Lady Cosmos", villain of all villains instead. She's been working on building a name for herself for two years, ever since.

Other: Elsie is from one of my current projects, sort of, so this is also helping me get to use her in a different light. So... thank you for that!

Name: Alice

Nickname: the Gravedigger, Queen of the Cemetery

Superhero/Villain Name: Madam Death (are somewhat neutral characters allowed, or do they have to be either a hero/villain? If not allowed, she's a villain i think)

Age 73

Gender: female

Appearance: Her face is essentially just wrinkles, with grey eyes. She is surprisingly fit for her age, being able to walk upright and elegantly while wearing a dark red polonaise dress and a tournure. She doesn't wear shoes or socks, nor does she wear gloves, as she needs to be able to touch the ground. She has a false braid on the top of her head, with her hairs curling at the back of her head (typical 1870s hairstyle).

tldr: she's dressed as 1970's nobility, except without shoes.

Powers: She can revive the dead (of any species whatsoever) by touching the soil they are buried in (must be relatively close to the place she touches the ground like a few meters or smth). The newborn ghoul reveres her as their queen, but she has no absolute control over them. The ghouls also do not have any recollections of their previous life.

Personality: She let's herself be served by a big undead population in the local cemetery. She and her people prefer to keep to themselves, and they are unwelcome and even dangerous to intruders. She finds good manners to be of upmost importance though,s o she can be convinced to help someone if they treat her with proper respect - or more likely, have one of her subjects help, as she is hesitant to leave her territory.

History: Born to a somewhat wealthy family, she was pandered to the extremes. Her parents (and butlers) did quite literally everything for her. When her parents died, she was quite incapable of caring for herself and kept bossing people around, leading to her being socially cast out by her surroundings. In anger, she went to the cemetery her parents were buried and started complaining to the graves, even beating with her fists the way a little child does when they want something. To her surprise her parents came out of the grave to pander her once again - this time not as their "little princess", but as their queen. Over time, she learned to control her power and wake up more ghouls to serve her, and with the help of her parents as advisers, she learned how to properly rule a kingdom.

Other: eh not really I don't think? It's my first character on this site so I still have to get used to writing in a bit more detail, so please don't mind if my writing has a bit of a weird rhythm (or lack thereof) ^^

Name: Alesea

Superhero Name: Feline Defender

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: View attachment 5171

Powers: Her hands can gain claws like a cats that she uses to climb up stuff. She also gets cat ears and a tail on top of it. She has night vision, allowing her to see well in the dark. To add onto that, she also gets other cat-like things as well to help her deal with the many dangers in Azoria. Due to having magic powers, she’s most skilled in healing. Unless fatal, she can heal most any wounds. She can't heal things like blindness, deafness, or anything like that. Healing takes mana and if she uses too much too quickly, she won't be able to use them for awhile. She can turn into a small black cat with green eyes.

Personality: She’s very sassy and snarky. Perhaps a bit rude-ish and mean. She won’t stand for disrespect and rudeness from others. She has a habit of hissing or growling like a cat whenever she’s upset. She can be sly and clever, sneaky, and silent. She has a soft spot for animals, mainly cats and her friends. She's distrusting of strangers however. She purrs when happy. She will not stand for disrespect to those that she trusts or people being rude and a dick in general. It's one way to quickly piss her off and she won't hold back telling whoever upset her off in a fury of hand movements.

History: Alesea was born an only child. Her first ever pet was a fluffy white cat that was given to her when she was just a little over a year old. She named the feline Princess and the she-cat became her first and real best friend for the longest time. While not remembering what happened due to how young she was, she found that she was given powers and cat-like features and abilities when she stumbled across an odd cat. Little did she know that because of that, it was going to change her life forever. Her other powers she got from poking her nose into things that she shouldn't have. It wasn't long after that that her powers began to show themselves. Knowing what this meant, her parents sent her off to Mutant Academy to better control them before they got out of hand. Sadly, she had to leave her beloved cat behind, but that was okay. She ended up making a few friends while she was at the school.

They formed a group together called Nightwatch as they watched over and protected Azoria once the sun had gone down. It was the only real safe time for mutants like them. Slowly but surely more heroes ended up joining them and as such, they created a building where they all gathered every night to speak to one another. They called it Mutant Haven. Each of them was given a Division in the city to guard over and protect, as well as devices to use to contact the others close by for backup should it be too much for one hero alone.

They had everything under control for awhile. They fought crime and other no-gooders that showed up to cause problems. They even got some help from the local police force that wasn't corrupt and hated them. But their time of things going easy and peaceful were at an end. Slowly but surely more dangerous were lurking inside and outside Azoira. Dangers that would push them all to their limits if they wanted to protect the city, despite how much it had wronged them. It was what a hero did after all. If only it were that simple....

Other: She has a fluffy white cat named Princess. She’s a huge cat lover. She was born deaf. Whatever is written "like this" is what she's saying in sign language.

Name: Taylor Rye-Lee

Nickname: Taylor, Riley, Doilyhead, or Klutz

Superhero Name: Heavy Rotation (Hebirote for short)

Age: 15 turning 16, baby!

Gender: Male

Appearance:
  • Hair color: Black with a few white strands.
  • Hair style: His hair is very long, reaching his back and usually tied into a ponytail. It's unkempt for most of the time, even when he's out doing his hero stuff.
  • Eye color: For some reason, it's gray. It gets darker the more his power is in use. His real eye color is brown.
  • Eye shape: He has with a slight roundness to his lower eyelid.
  • Skin color: He's got a warm-normal skin tone, but he gets tanned very easily.
  • Body shape: Well, he's... Very insecure about his stature. He's about 5'5" or 165.1cm and weighs about 130 pounds or 59kg.
  • Clothing and equipment: He's usually seen in a sweater and some pajama pants. And his hero gear consists of... Jeans and a different sweater with his hero name embroidered into it. He always has something to cover his head, but never his eyes.
  • In general: Just a young, short boy, with too many strands of white hidden in his black hair. Sweaters and various knitwears are right up his alley.

Powers/Gadgets:
Taylor has the ability to share a very heavy vertigo with anyone! Downside is, if he's not using his powers, he's going to experience the very strong dizziness for himself. The way to do this is by intiating eye contact with the creature or person. He can control how the vertigo is going to pull the person.
However, when it comes to strength, it's distributed evenly. Example: when he isn't splitting the pain into other people, he's going to experience it 100%, but he'll only experience 50% of the pain when sharing it with one other person. The pain can never truly be gone. It's just the nature of his powers! When he stops using it, everything will come back to him.
The more his powers are used (and the less pain he feels), a horn on his forehead will grow and his eyes turn into a darker, more normal brown color.

Personality:
Taylor is always a bit anxious about things, always fidgeting in his spot. He's a solo vigilant, which means that he's going to get beat up very badly if he loses. He isn't very strong, and his ability is subpar at best, so he's usually scared and skeptical. However, his gut feelings aren't very bad, so he'll go on with it if his stomach doesn't turn midway. Even though he's usually scared of things, he isn't going to run (at least not tactically).

History:
Taylor is raised as an only child in the house of an anti-mutant and anti-magic mother, a native to Azoria. However, the concept of someone being outside of the norm has always interested him. He used to avoid contact with mutants before his mutations surfaced, but he doesn't outright hate mutants. It was something that had always bothered him ever since he was a young child, the way mutants are treated in his city.

After about fifteen years, Taylor started experiencing terrible headaches for extended periods on a daily basis. He was given some pills for his headaches, but it always comes back after a few hours. He stayed in a hospital for a few days, checking his condition to see if there's anything causing the headaches. He accidentally used his powers on a passer-by. And, after realizing what had happened, he searches for the answer even more.

Relying on his mother's reaction whenever he brings up his father into a conversation, he begins searching for his father. Well, he still hasn't found him yet but, he found his grandmother from his father's side. There he learned about his slight mutant heritage from his mother's side, and hits some sort of moral conflict.

Should he continue his life as ignorant as ever and forget about everything he had just found out? Or, maybe... Defend the mutants? He's a mutant, after all. Maybe that's his calling? He's still unsure about the path that he chose to walk in.

Other:
  • Only his mother's side of the family dislikes mutants. His father's side of the family has some mutant genes. Taylor's grandmother from his father's side in particular has the ability to extend her fingers. A distant cousin of his is also a mutant.
  • Because his family is native to Azoria, it's actually possible that there's also mutants in his mother's family.
  • Taylor really likes knit clothing. The whole concept of knitting interests him. His grandmother knit him his hero sweater. She took a peek of his notes one time, and the words "Heavy Rotation" was scribbled everywhere with an emblem. It's not like she knows what it is, she just thought it was a band name that he really liked.
  • He stopped going to school ever since his mutation surfaced. He actually kind of liked school, but his constant pain doesn't allow him to focus. However, he takes online courses. (They aren't really academic, though. They're more for his hobbies.)
  • He's nicknamed Klutz because he has a tendency to fall and drop things on accident when his vertigo comes back. His other nickname Doilyhead is because he has made multiple doilies used around the house with his knitting knowledge.
(If you don't mind, I have ideas for multiple characters! If this Taylor gets approved, I'll submit the others to you! Though I don't know if I'm going to use all of them.)

He is approved. You're free to have as many characters as you wish to make for this.

Excuse me, I have a question: When this roleplay begins, is there any particular time of the day (and in what timezone) will it be active? I'd like to know so I can try to be present when the story's moving. I may not be able to show up much because of time differences.)

Hello there. There really is no set time for it to begin. What timezone are you in?

Name: Alistaire Artis

Nickname: Al, Art, or The Traitor

Superhero Name: Switch
Supervillain name: The Trader

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Appearance:

View attachment 5566

Powers:
  • Ability storage
    • "All I have to offer is all I have to offer", anyone who says these words to Alistaire whilst in physical contact with him transfers their ability or mutation to him, essentially "curing" the individual of their divergence from a normal person.
      • Alistaire has functional use of these abilities, however is only as familiar with them as a novice, having no mastery of them
      • The main purpose of this ability is serving as a storage for abilities rather than as a user
      • There is no technical limit to how many of these abilities he may store and for how long, however, the more there are and the longer he keeps them the bigger the toll on his body; organ failure and necrosis are likely side-effects
      • He may trick people into saying the activation condition
    • "I bequeath my responsibility", when Alistaire utters these words, he gives his stored abilities to another individual he is in contact with, however he cannot give the ability back to the original user without an intermediary
      • For example an ability can be transferred from A ---> Alistaire ---> B ---> Alistaire ---> A, but cannot be transferred from A ---> Alistaire ---> A
    • Current stored abilities: the ability to turn invisible
Gadgets:
  • Due to a previous incident of storing too many abilities for too long, he experienced cardiac atrophy leading to his heart mass to decrease, so he has a cybernetic encasing around his heart to ensure normal heart function
  • He has inhalation supplements that he takes in the form of a mock-cigarette that inhibits the side effects of over exerting his storage capabilities, however, these are in short supply and can only be obtained from Government scientists

Personality:

One word to describe Al would be analytical, he prefers to observe rather than participate in conversation. The way he approaches situations and people is to obtain as much data about every variable in order to construct a whole picture of a person or situation before approaching - in a way, he dissects to learn the minutiae and then acts on this knowledge.

Alistaire is slow to anger, and is usually mildly amused by people rather than annoyed. He demonstrates strong emotions very rarely, whether they be positive or negative, and instinctively remains aloof in a friendly manner, speaking to others in a manner one may speak to a coworker rather than a person no matter their status.

History:

Employee number: #B54FV
Code-name: Trader
Handler Name: Dr Bernard Huxley
Medication: Formula 9M
Handler's Report:

"Studying to be a languages teacher, Alistaire led an ordinary life for the majority of his life since his ability had very specific activation conditions: as far as he was concerned, the world of mystical powers, mutants, and crime was something he would never encounter - that was until his fiancée revealed she could turn invisible. Although initially slightly shaken by the prospect that his highly conservative family would find out and object to the marriage, they knew that hiding the truth would be easy and carried on with life. Flash forward to Christmas Eve, and the Artis family are hosting a dinner that served as a family gathering. It was a typical family reunion, with offensive mutterings from the older folk about the younger folk and a bit too much hard alcohol and one event led to another, and following a heated argument about mutants, the truth was revealed. His parents reported his fiancée to the authorities and she became a fugitive to the law. Prior to her arrest, the pair decided to have an impromptu wedding ceremony as a symbol of their love and she uttered those fateful words, stripping her of her ability without knowledge - that was the last day they ever saw each other.

Alistaire saw good potential in his powers - to cure people who didn't want their powers, to save people from persecution if they wanted to. He could empower the powerless just as easily, but he was reckless. He stored and stored and stored and his body felt it, his organs shut down and atrophied and he was recovered by the organisation.

That is all that is known about Alistaire before the contract. The details of the contract were simple: take powers from the prisoners and give them to the people in power. In exchange, he would be paid handsomely, and given the supplements to keep his body going.
A foreign prime minister is in their final years? Their new-found longevity was worth a lot of money. This garnered Alistaire a bad rep among the mutants, becoming known as The Trader, often pronounced as "The Traitor", he served as the boogeyman who could rob you of all your powers and leave you helpless. The rumours were exaggerated, but it didn't matter to him. He has managed to separate his emotions from his work, which is good - we can use him. Recommended course of action: transfer to Azoria base.

-Dr Huxley"

Current status: Missing

Other: He's a polyglot.
