We all know that every system has its failures. Socialism, capitalism, communism, what have you. Just look at human history.

But from where I'm standing, a lot of people seem misinformed when talking about socialism and capitalism.

People call the U.S. capitalist but fail to mention the fact that we're #17 on the index of economic freedom which means we're not really capitalist at all. We're more socialist than anything. Our government's too damn big.

Futhermore, people love to use European countries as an example of how they think socialism works but conveniently leave out the fact that they're very capitalist in nature (almost to the point where some would call them extreme) which is why they're able to have those things that socialists want so badly.

Personally I think a mixed economy is the best system to have and it works. Just look at countries like Sweden. They have it and they're the only western country operating on a budget surplus right now. Preferably leaning more towards capitalism.

What do you lovely intellectuals think?

I think mixed economy could work in the United States, I'm personally all for reaping the fruits of your labor, as long as you play by the rules

According to Google, socialism is "a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs." while capitalism is "an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state." Using these definitions, we can infer that socialism rewards people based on how well off they are, what they need, why they need it, etcetera, etcetera. Capitalism, on the other hand, says that things are privately owned, and instead of money being given to the state for the benefit of the poorer community and the like, it is given to the owners. Therefore, I think socialism is better because it gives benefits to the people who need it, rather than the ones who want it.
