Akashic Arcana CHAPTER I - Genesis || The Combat Examination - Team Solaris - ARCHIVED

Not open for further replies.
It had just been an hour after the long written examination. The students had been given a short break so they could prepare themselves mentally for the combat trials. The group of what was left of the first-years had been split into two teams. Solaris and Lunaris. Each team had to face one or two 3rd-year students in order to pass the next test. As Team Solaris stepped out of the Mage Colosseum Gates, what awaited them outside was a whole different world.

Team Solaris Battle-Stage

Within a short moment, the gate where the members of Team Solaris stepped out from disappeared in a wisp of blue arcane residue. They were trapped here until the examination is complete. For as far as the eyes could see, they were trapped in a desolated desert. Sand buried to their ankles, the intense heat that the sun radiated. Yet, with all these strange sandrock and mountain formations, it wasn't a place known to Earth. Which means, it is an artificial stage created by the school. Should someone with Flight Spell attempt to fly up 20.000 feet altitude, they would hit something hard, a dome-like glass that reflected the illusion of a clear sky with an intense artificial sun. By this concept, the entire space was a finite size, meaning that it was covered in same illusion glass to make it appear infinite.

Many of the students started to look worried, as they couldn't find Viktoriya or Xena anywhere. The space seemed hopelessly vast as well. And did the temperature just get hotter?

A huge clock appeared in the skies, counting down from 22 minutes and 30 seconds.

Omnipotent voice: Welcome students to the Solaris Arena! In this final examination, you will be facing the Student Council President and the Council Secretary in this open battle arena! The minimum condition of passing is to last for 22 minutes and 30 seconds. However, if you wish to score extra points and merits, you will be graded on teamwork, the number of passed students and individual performance. However, if you manage to knock down both the Council President and the Secretary, you will receive maximum points! - And one final note, the whole battle is being monitored. It is all being shown LIVE for the entire world to see!

With that announcement, many of the First-years were panicking, yet, a brave or perhaps foolish bunch started to gather in a group.

Tess: "We should overpower them! They are just two against us! How many are we? Hundreds?"
Dylan: "Hell yeah, screw the third-years! Let's do this!"

Team Solaris Mentality (excluding players): Morale High, Majority wants to charge in blindly and overpower Viktoriya and Xena.

Battle Arena Temperature: 47 °C (117 °F), Arid.

Masego:

This is it. This is what he'd trained for. As Masego Zulu stepped into the vast alien battleground, he could hear his heart pumping the blood through his body, ever faster as he felt his excitement building. Looking around at team Solaris, he noticed that the girl with the pretty hair and little Artoria had also been assigned to his team. He waved the two of them over, a huge smile on his face. "This is going to be great! We're going up against the Student Council president and Secretary on our first day here!" The boy could hardly contain his excitement.

Then the battlefield got warmer. It wasn't bothering him nearly as much as the other students, his travels through the heart of Africa helped him build a resistance to scorching heat, but he felt the fear of many a first year in this group, and others with the foolhardy plan to simply rush in blindly. He needed to put a stop to that.

Calling on Shaka's strength that dwelled within him, he sent out an aura of courage and power that washed over Team Solaris, coercing people into looking towards the young man. "Listen, my friends! Do not underestimate our opponent, they've sent these two against us because they know they can beat us. But we will not fail here! We will fight for our place in Arcadia, we will defeat the student council!"

He beamed with pride as he felt some of the students let out a cheer, his confidence growing. "Flyers take to the skies and find our opponents. Everyone else, split into two teams and scour both sides of the battlefield. If we can trap them in a pincer, they'll be overrun. Make sure each team has a defensive mage with them. Lets do this!!"

Xena:

Xena and Viktoriya were on the opposite side of the wasteland. Xena had changed back into a tank top and fatigues and was currently stretching out her limbs. She could faintly hear the sounds of a battle cry in the distance. "Sounds like the first years are ready to play. Shall we give them a proper welcome?" She asked her partner, a devilish smile on her face.

In the sweltering heat, Artoria fanned herself with a hand to try and cool down. This was really brutal weather compared to what she was used to in Britain. She recalled some of her lessons with Lancelot regarding combat in inclement conditions. The soft sand around would bog down her movements, and she was in danger of quickly tiring herself out due to dehydration if she exerted too much too quick. Not to mention the heat would feel even worse once she were to suit up in her armor. Speaking of which..

Extending her arms out, the Princess called upon her Divine Magic, wordlessly casting her Summon Armaments spell. One by one, pieces of her armor appeared in a flash of golden light upon her body. First the gauntlets, then her greaves, then her thigh armor, then her cuirass, followed by her pauldrons, and finishing off with her visor. Finally, her right hand opened out and her weapon of choice, Caliburn, was summoned to her hand in a similar fashion.

Once she was fully prepared for battle, she dashed off to join up with Mago, who had beckoned her over. She would look like a real knight, pulled right out historical legends, even if a bit on the small side. Once he delivered his.. speech.. she nodded and scanned around the area. "I need solid ground to fight on, or I'm going to be less effective." The mountainous crags in the distance looked promising, though they were a fair bit away. The thought of having to fight Viktoriya formed knots in her stomach.

Ugh. First that test and now where are we? The Sun? It's tooooo hot.

Viola hadn't even stepped foot into this new world for a few minutes and she already hated everything about it; there was too much sand, not enough color and it was too damn hot. She was sweaty and felt way too gross for her own comfort. She wanted a nice long bath to scrub away the evilness that was bound to be growing.

She looked towards Masego as he spoke, glad that someone was on top of their game, because she felt like a wilted plant. Everyone gave some shouts of excitement when orders were given around and since she couldn't think of anything else that could be considered a good strategy, she nodded her head.

"Should there be some kind of signal if we find them? Or should we just fly back down and let you know?" She glanced up at the sky, just imaging what it would feel like to get some wind blowing against her. She didn't spend much time looking at the girl in the armor...she didn't need to think about how hot it would be in there.

"My little sister is there too and if I hold back, she will not learn what it means to survive." Viktoriya looked towards Xena with a stern expression, her eyes shifted from silver to a soft mellow red. Viktoriya's adaptive body made sure that this heat was nothing to her, after all, she could survive in highly radioactive areas if need be. She took a look at her slender right hand before she started her transformation. The tips of her fingers began to break down. Flesh, bone, blood, and biological material began to look like a myriad of tendrils of gore. This wave of deconstruction spread from her hand and all the way across her body like a wave of millions of ants. It took some time, but as her flesh was being reconstructed, it also began to assemble.

In a wisp of blood red mist, Viktoriya finished preparing her transformation. She took the appearance of an armored monster. The metal had a calcium white color to it, but without even feeling it, the armor looked to be harder than steel. Her hands had morphed into those of wicked claws at the size of daggers. She flexed her right hand before its entire shape began to change, the arms looked like molten chrome before it formed itself into that of a wicked blade.
VLhJU3H.png
"Xena, make sure that not more than 4 people get to pass." Her voice was distorted, the transformation made her vocal cords feel hollow, sending a stark chill down people's spine as she looked ahead with a murderous glare. "If anything tries to fly, take them all down. The sky will not aid them."

Viktoriya kneeled down, as she placed her left hand on the sand, she focused a huge amount of mana within her body. Powerful surges of internal explosions could be heard as Viktoriya triggered several Mana Bursts within her armored shell. Within this shell of steel, all of the pressured power was being contained and begging to be released. The sand underneath Vikki has blasted away after the 4th Mana Burst, at the 6th burst, Xena could feel a shift in the wind and sense the pressure inside Viktoriya. The 10th Mana Burst caused her outer armor to brittle, soft sounds of cracks could be heard resonating across her form.

The moment Viktoriya released all of the built-up internal energy into a jump, the ground beneath her exploded as if someone had detonated a C-4 bomb at the location she stood at. Sand was being released in a pillar into the air, and even followed Viktoriya's form as she flew like a missile into the air.

-------
The First-Years were astonished by Masego's inspiring cry, they hesitated for a moment and gathered around him since no one else seems to have as much presence of a leader like he does. However, in the far distance, they could hear an explosion, followed by what looked like a large area being turned upside down with a large pillar of sand being released into the air.

Tess: "W-What was that? An accident?"

Viktoriya was fast to act before they could establish a leader, let alone consider making strategies, she attacked them 3 minutes after they all got out. Several first-year students looked towards the direction of where the explosion came from, resulting in many missing the fact that Viktoriya was above them, and descending down towards their tight packed group.

High above in the skies, Viktoriya morphed her right arm into that of a massive hammer. She punched down towards the group of students, striking towards the epicenter of their gathering. Within moments, Viktoriya smashed into the ground with her hammer into the middle of the First-years' group, sending a massive shock blast from the point of impact that knocked away dozens of students with high velocity.

Students who were taken unaware and close to 10 meters of Viktoriya had been sent back with such a high force that they were crying on the ground in pure anguish. The shockwave emitted from Viktoriya was the same as if a plastic demolition satchel had been set off in the middle of their group. The wave of invisible force penetrated them, damaging their internal organs as well as adding concussion power. One by one, the downed students were teleported by the Academy Mages, who monitored the battlefield, as well as saving students from dying.

From the crater that Viktoriya created was a husk of a creature. Its armor had been destroyed by the impact and now revealed extensive damages. Its limbs bent in completely opposite directions. Bones had been shattered, blood pouring from flesh lactations and the entire face of Viktoriya resembled that of a human anatomy doll, with its flesh and eyeballs showing without lids. With several moments of painful noises of Viktoriya snapping her bones back into place and correcting her position, it was making many of the surviving First-years looks in horror. Tess could barely speak, she was crying for her life as she watched Viktoriya's broken body put itself back together. Bone by bone, flesh by flesh.

Viktoriya finally stood up, her armor repaired and her form restored to how she was before the fall.

Masego:

Mago looked to Viola, who'd just asked him about a signal and whether it should be used. "That depends on how fast you can fly. If it's quicker to fly back and tell us then do so. If not, then any sort of obvious warning will do as a signal. Alright everyone re-" He didn't even have time to finish his sentence, a loud sonic boom resounded throughout the arena. Whatever it was, Mago knew it was bad news. "Flyers! Take to the air! It could be a shockwave!" He ordered, trying to save as many students from what was coming as he could.

He called upon the strength of the elephant, his muscle structure warping until he resembled the Incredible Hulk. "If you have defensive magic, get it up now!" He ordered again, bracing his body for whatever came next. It turns out that what was coming next was in the air as a creature that seemed to be made of pure metal was descending towards them. "BRACE YOURSEL-" The impact shook the earth, a blast ripping through helpless students left and right.

Mago's own body stayed firm and upright, but many minor injuries started to pile up all over his body. Trying to keep his mind from getting concussed by the force of the blast brought him to his knees as well. He was dazed for about long enough that when he finally rose to his feet again, his hulking form was facing that of the armored demon who wiped out so many. Looking around to see who was left, he cracked his knuckles together. "Stick to the plan, be wary of the other Council Member. I'll keep this one busy."

With that, Mago charged at Viktoriya, despite his size he was still pretty fast, unleashing a punch that would break any bone in a human skeleton towards the Student Council President.

Xena:

It turns out that Xena didn't have to worry about fliers interrupting whatever Vikki was planning to do. Those poor freshmen were probably milling about trying to find a leader to rally behind, or worse panicking and fighting each other. Still, Vikki's words stuck with her, no more than 4 get to pass. "You sure you don't wanna bump that number up a bit? Remember, Amatsu's proctoring one of the other groups." That man was ruthless when it came to battle. She hoped that no one fighting him would die.

She didn't get to hear an answer from Vikki, as the president seemed to rip the ground underneath her asunder and rocket into the air, exploding onto the first years like a bomb. "Reckless idiot." Xena muttered to herself. Prepping two Zeus' bolts, Xena moved forward, moving at 3/4 speed and sticking to the shadows. She wasn't a horde fighter like Vikki was, so kept herself hidden, raining bolts down on any student who entered the air. Only the quickest among them would be able to dodge the lightning javelins.

"Let the games begin."

The explosion and dust cloud in the distance caught Artoria's attention. Remembering a vague lesson on artillery magic, she quickly got a Barrier up, surrounding herself with a golden bubble of magic. She and anyone behind her would be protected from the resulting shockwave of Vikki landing just a few paces away. She kept the protective shield up, just in case of a follow-up attack. Instead, she froze in shock when she saw just who had performed the dynamic entrance. "V-Vikki?" She cringed slightly as the President popped herself back together, thinking just how painful that must feel. "Yeesh, talk about hardcore."

Once she got over her initial surprise, Artoria would leap into the fight alongside Mago. "She's really strong, you can't take her on your own!" Pushing off with her right foot, her enhanced strength launched her over Vikki's head, where she would perform a twirl midair and attempt to bring Caliburn down onto the homonculus' right shoulder from behind. She'd let out a shout of exertion as she did so, and the strike would feel much more powerful than should be possible from someone of Artoria's age and size. If the strike was blocked, there would be a slight ripple through the air from the impact.

Viola loved to fly and when she flew, she liked to go really fast. As fast as possible at all times. So it goes without saying that she has incredibly reaction times and has the nice ability to pick up small details in quick succession.

The explosion off in the distance and the rising sand pillar off in the distance were things that even a normal person could spot. What was that speck though? It was far off, but getting bigger at an accelerated speed.

That's trouble.

Viola threw herself away, activating her flight ability but still keeping low to the ground. She didn't know what was going to happen or who would show up, caution would be the best option.

Viktoriya's impact was enough to throw her further backwards, spinning her around in an awkward tumble that she was just able to gain control of, landing a little sloppily on her feet as supposed to her butt. Still though, the effectiveness of the attack was too obvious: some of their fellow students vanished. Viktoriya's body was rebuilding itself in a way that made Viola regret both having eaten a breakfast and drinking all of that tea.

The self-appointed leader of their group wanted the flyers to go into the air, to keep track of the other person that they were fighting.... Viola didn't feel that this was a good thing. The third year student they were fighting was a monster. They needed all the help they could get.

Keeping her distance from the fighting itself, Viola focused on manifested a spell. It would take a little more time than normal, as this was not what it was used for... but she had a plan that she felt could work. Carefully, she began working air into the sand. She let the fear of combat and Viktoriya remain on her face. She wanted to look like she was already beaten.

Viktoriya just regained full bodily function as a massive hulk of a beast came charging down the crater in a frontal attack. "I'll bite..." She thought internally as she clenched her right fist. Her armor reconstructed itself in a chrome-like liquid, this time, only creating several layers of metal. At the same time, her entire right arm started to twist, the metal began to expand, as her muscle mass was growing exponentially. At a biomass level, it would appear that her muscle had turned into a hardened metal like crystal, only further twisted together into several fibers that attained the same flexibility and toughness of modern carbon muscle fiber.

The Student Council President charged towards Masego, their fists connecting at the middle between them, and a huge rift of a shockwave cracked from the impact with a thunderous roar. Viktoriya's feet dug into the air as she shifted her weight forwards to avoid being sent back. The result forced her back several meters, but even Masego should had been sent back from the blow with cracked bones, given the state of her own arm.

From Masego's inhuman strength, Viktoriya's arm bursted from the pressure that traveled from her knuckles. The entire armor that covered the armor were shattered into pieces of flesh and steel. People could see Vikki's arm as if someone had ripped off all of her skin, and only flesh and white lines of fat tissue remained. The blood that dripped from the limbless and shattered arm was a ghastly sight to behold.

Vikki smirked deeply underneath the metal of her helmet. Her arm began to rapidly regenerate, almost instantly after the severe damage was done. However, the metal armor that protected her took a little while longer to form. It was a beautiful sight molten chrome spread from her shoulders, and all the way down to her fingertips before it hardened into the same metallic armor.

However, her battle instinct was already on high alert as Artoria performed her aerial assault on Viktoriya. The President swiftly lowered herself to one knee, before raised her left armored hand to block the sword. The resulting impact of Caliburn and Viktoriya's steel was teeth shattering. It was like the sound of ice being pressed together, just amplified by 200x times. Her armor was bent inwards, shattering and chipping off. Blood sprayed into the air, as Viktoriya's claw eventually closed around Caliburn, keeping Artoria in the air if she didn't let go of her sword.

Viktoriya's right hand started to morph into that of a wicked blade, twice the size of a medieval halberd used to slay armored troopers or cavalry. Swiftly, she attempts to slash Artoria in a diagonal line across her stomach and chest, her movements were extremely fast. Meaning that her Strenght and Speed were at a minimum B or even A-rank in body enhancement.

Internally, Viktoriya knew she was facing difficult opponents, hopefully, Xena could keep the skies clear for her.

Xena:

Viola was wise to stay out of the air. Within the span of thirty seconds, almost every capable flier in the group of students was incapacitated, perfectly circular holes in their clothes complete with electrical burns on their flesh were visible as they were teleported out of the arena. Her main job done, she quietly moved in to survey the area that Vikki was fighting in. It was not pretty, currently Vikki was being assaulted on both sides, by a hulking beast and a little armored girl, whom she could only assume was the little sister from earlier.

That's when she saw a mage staying in the back prepping a spell. Xena saw her chance, her arms and feet bursting with electricity, she dashed forward, moving past Vikki and her opponents within seconds and aiming right for Viola with a flurry of physical attacks. It would take her a total of 7 seconds to cross that distance, so if Viola noticed her in time, she could dodge Xena's flurry.

Masego:

The impact sent Mago flying a good few meters. He would've been able to land on his feet had he not been distracted with an excruciating pain in his right arm. As such, he landed hard on his back and was sent sprawling to the floor. He twisted in pain, feeling as though his entire right arm was on fire. He couldn't move any part of it, every bone had been broken. All things considered, he was lucky that his entire arm didn't shatter upon contact with Viktoriya's impressive metal armor, but his right arm was now useless in combat.

He managed to pick himself up in time to see a quick flash moving towards Viola, and Viktoriya catching little Arotria's sword. "Watch your left!" He called out to Viola, before charging at Vikki again. His speed in this form was C level, but he was fueled by adrenaline. With a diving leap he aimed to catch Vikki's sword with his left hand, stopping and redirecting it's momentum away from the young girl. He only hoped his durability could let him catch the sword without losing any fingers.

The force of the impact was felt throughout every inch of Artoria's body. She'd never felt such pressure before, but managed to stay wary and alert. Then something triggered in her vision. She saw herself falling to the ground, with a deep laceration carved into a good portion of her torso. Thinking quickly, she planted her foot onto Vikki's closed claw, and swung Caliburn as hard as she could towards the incoming blade. No, too late! "BRAVE SHINE!" A golden light erupted from the sword, and the claw's thumb would be lopped off, and the oversized weapon would impact with the conjured magic projectile that was flung from Caliburn. This wasn't enough to stop it, but it gave Artoria a split-second to avoid the worst of the hit. She was still sent flying from the attack, sprawling into the sand.

Her blood dripped onto the ground, though the wound was thankfully shallow. She placed her left hand over the cut, summoning forth her healing magic to mend it up. Her magic armor would reform itself soon after, making it look as though she never got injured in the first place. She glanced over at Mago who was engaging Vikki again, but his right arm looked absolutely terrible. She needed to heal it for him to have a chance, but would the President give her an opportunity to do so? Picking herself back up, she sprinted back toward the fight, this time circling around behind Masego.

Unless Vikki stopped her, she would dash behind him then close to his right side, placing her left hand upon the broken arm, shrouding it with golden light. Within a few seconds, it should steadily heal up.

Viola's spell was ready. The visual image she needed had been completed and the mana required to use it had been reached, and then some. Even with the slight modifications, the spell was not a complicated one.

There were, however, two issues: Her comrades were too crowded up against Viktoriya for her to use, not without getting them caught within its effects. Then there was also Xena, who had called her bluff and was moving in to get her while she was vulnerable.

Viola smiled. Her new target would be easier to get anyways.

Poof.

She activated the spell in front of Xena, letting the wind she'd been moving through the sand to form into the shape of her Wind Poof spell. However, instead of being on top of the ground and shooting upwards, it happened just under the surface of the sand, and it shot further into the ground.

The change was subtle, the surface layer not disturbed by the churning winds until Xena stepped foot on the ground. Then it would become an instant sinkhole.

The sand underneath Xena's feet would give away, not allowing for any footing to run or jump off from, as there would be nothing underneath it. The hole was small, almost about the size of Masego, except the walls were in continual motion, spiraling downwards as the winds dug deeper into the ground.

If all worked correctly, Xena would find herself buried under 8 feet of sand before she knew what hit her.

Viktoriya groaned out in pain as her thumb was sliced off cleanly from the magical blade. The magic of Brave Shine met with Viktoriya's blade, the two forces collided, and her motion was put to a stop, straining her muscles, and giving Artoria enough time to avoid being slashed by Viktoriya's blade. The spell eventually died down and Viktoriya could move once again. However, the massive stride of Masego did not go unnoticed. I need more speed.

From Masego's perspective of trying to aid Artoria, he saw Viktoria merely standing still, motionless. Should he collide with Viktoriya's form, the entire shape of Vikki just crumbles into a hollow shell of metal. Hiding from behind the vision of her armor, Viktoriya had exited her protective form and looked just like how she did back on the train station. The President looked human, her long raven hair swaying in the arid desert breeze. She smirked towards Masego before she activated her Mana Burst ability. A sound of a pressurized explosion could be heard as Viktoriya built up internal force, which allowed her to dash away from Masego's vision within a short moment. The force was so great that it created an explosion of sand from beneath Viktoriya.

An obvious attack would have been from behind. But should Masego look out for Viktoriya, the girl didn't attack? From above then? Nothing either. It was as if she had retreated, thus allowing Artoria to move up and heal Masego.
-------

Flashback to the moment when she used Mana Burst

After Viktoriya had given the impression of disappearing, all she did was creating a smoke-screen. As she used her magic and Bio Morph ability to burrow herself into the sand at rapid speed, she created the perfect optical illusion of her retreat. Due to her advanced Bio Morph Ability, Viktoriya was digging a tunnel underneath Masego and Artoria.

As Artoria would still be mending Masego's broken arm, it was time to show them the cruelty of war.

Due to the sand dunes and terrain, the hole in the ground closes swiftly due to desert sand, which is mostly quartz sand, which is a bit under 50% silicon. So, ultra light and covers her tunnel hole.

--------

As Masego and Artoria were licking their wounds, several spikes shot out from beneath them. The spikes were made of the same metal that Vikki's armor had been compromised of. A total 10 of finger-sized spikes were firing upwards at the speed of a bullet. Each of these spikes attempted to pierce into Masego's Hulk body from below. They were designed to pierce his skin, and once they penetrated deep enough, either into his feet, legs, thighs or arms. The spikes would detach themselves, burrow into his wounds before they morphed into a black algae microorganism that acted like a paralytic poison. Biological warfare.

The black algae inside Masego's wounds would keep expanding, and due to it being living organisms within Viktoriya, they would keep expanding into his bloodstream.

Masego:

Everything seemed to go as Viktoriya had predicted. When Artoria freed herself, Mago turned his grab attempt into a left hook to the back of Vikki's head, which caused the armor to crumble to dust. He turned around just in time to see the president smile, then burst into sand. He quickly looked around, then up in the sky. No sign of her. There was only one place she could be. "BELOW!" Shaka screamed in his mind.

Before Artoria could even near him to start healing his arm, Mago had used his strong legs to propel himself high into the air. His next act was to consume a lot of mana to transition him from his elephant form into his eagle form. His body quickly and unnaturally reformed into it's original size, while the wings he'd shown off in the train regrew out of his spine. This time was particularly painful, as the broken bones in his right arm had to shrink along with the rest of him.

He didn't have time to warn Artoria and watched in horror as spikes flew up from the spot where he once was. He could only hope that his sudden leap in the air had kept the young girl away from that spot.

Xena:

Meanwhile, Xena stepped through the pitfall that had been placed for her, slamming into a wall of sand hard enough to daze her as she fell into the sinkhole that Viola had created. She found herself ankle deep in sand by the time her senses had fully returned and unable to grab a foothold of anything.

"Clever girl." Xena admitted with a hint of respect. With no grip, the Wings of Jupiter were useless, meaning that unless she got help, she was stuck sinking into the ground. "Vikki, HELP!" She yelled out, hoping her partner could hear her, while also making a mental note to give Viola extra points for immobilizing her so cleverly.

For the brief moment that she was blocked from Artoria's view, Viktoriya had vanished. Her attempts to heal Mago were rejected, as he had suddenly lept up into the air out of her reach "H-Hey!" She stepped a couple steps back from the dust cloud he kicked up, then suddenly realized something was off. She quickly scanned around, before reaching the same conclusion that Shaka had. She dashed backwards, just in time to avoid the multiple spikes that exploded from the ground, shooting up towards Mago. She dropped into a defensive stance, watching the ground below for any disturbances that might give Vikki's position away.

There would be a brief moment of distraction as Artoria looked over to where Xena had shouted out, and was quickly sinking into the ground. Alarmed, the Princess worried that the Secretary was in a very dangerous situation, even if she was her opponent.

Viola's trap sprung successfully, trapping Xena in her improvised sandpit. Soon enough, she'd be trapped under way too much sand to move. There was dangers in this plan, she knew that. She also thought that there would be someone there to save the students if something were about to go wrong.

She still may be able to do something from there. I should fall back and think about what we should do next.

Viola pushed herself off of the ground and activated her flight mode, quickly ascending to a height where she could get a good view of the battlefield without being in a reasonable range of most long distance attacks.

All we need to do is stall for time.
With that thought, she understood another way she could use her abilities to help out. Focusing her mind on a single concept: simple complexity.

So they saw through that one? Not bad. Viktoriya thought to herself as she tunneled herself out of the ground. She exploded out from the ground, several meters away from Artoria and Masego. As she did so, she heard Xena's voice echoing throughout the arena, and as she looked towards the source of where the shout came from, she was impressed with what she saw. Viola had created a sinkhole by using the terrain, and Xena was down below it. She'll have to note down extra points for using the battlefield to her advantage.

Viktoriya flexed her right arm before it began to twitch violently from the inside. The bones were being broken, shattered, and dematerialized into an elastic material. Her arm changed color into black and began to resemble a mass of black tendrils. Her fist turned into a blade, and within seconds, she had morphed her arm into a whip-blade. Swiftly, she launched her weapon into the air, her arm stretched to impossible proportions as the mass of tendrils almost looked like it could stretch for an eternity. It wasn't all however, it changed directions while in constant motion. Viktoriya commanded her whip-fist to dive into the hole where Xena had been captured, if Xena allowed it, the whip would coil around her mid-section, before Viktoriya would recoil har arm backward, lashing Xena out of the whole with impressive speed.

If all went as she wanted it, Xena would be pulled to Vikki's side.

12 minutes left of the examination

Xena:

She was happy enough to let the whip coil around her and pull her up out of the sinkhole to Vikki's side. Letting out a sigh of relief, she patted Vikki on her armored shoulder. "Thanks for the save. I like that one." She said pointing to the now airborne Viola. Looking around the battlefield, she saw a couple of students left cowering in fear, while Masego, Artoria and Viola were actively trying to fight.

Xena made quick work of the remaining stragglers, officially making it a 3 vs. 2 match. She saw the winged boy flying, his arm a mangled mess, but decided to focus on the girl who'd trapped her. Far out of range of her lightning Javelins, Xena decided to take a more unorthodox approach and disappeared in a flash of electricity. The next thing Viola knew, Xena was falling from the sky, shooting lightning from her fingertips at the girl.

What Xena had done was activated the Wings of Jupiter, moving at the speed of lightning, she'd found and scaled the wall of the arena using her momentum, and managed to hit and run across the roof of the battlefield before deactivating the wings and letting herself freefall. Should the shocking grasp connect with Viola, it would paralyze her, sending the girl into freefall with Xena.

Masego:

The boy was down to almost half his mana by this point, in his least viable form and with a broken arm. Looking at the clock, he could see that they were down to 12 minutes. "Keep Viktoriya busy!" He called out to Artoria as he began flying towards the roof of the arena. It would take him awhile to reach a height he desired, and he needed to hope Viktoriya would hold still long enough for him to put his plan into action.

Artoria breathed a sigh of relief as Xena was rescued by Viktoriya. Upon Masego's call, she would nod at him then charge forward at her sister. Her magically-enhanced powerful legs launched her forward at great speeds, closing the gap within a few seconds. Mago asked her to keep her busy, and she intended to do just that. Still charging forward, practically leaping with each step, sending sand flying into clouds with each impact, she yelled out, "Face me, sister!" then unleashed a warcry, aiming to clash blades with the President.
