Deus Ex Machina Character Sheets and Acceptance

Monster the Vamelfaer

Sells all the Shubi
The character limit has been removed!
Enjoy.

Obviously, characters must be approved by a GM before they can be put into play. I would ask that if you’re creating a Demi that you tell us ahead of time who you want their godly parent to be before you fill out the character sheet, especially if you’re making a new god for them.

Try to keep characters and their powers reasonable, and remember that we’re aiming for Victorian/steampunk style in all of this. This applies not only to appearance, but also names, technology, or otherwise.

Name: Edward Littimer
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Class: Demi
Godly Parent: Malitia, Goddess of Trickery.
Relationships: TBD
Role: Scam Artist/Thief

Personality
: He can be described as a social chameleon. He will be whatever makes him fit in. He is calm, cool and charming; the perfect gentleman. But that is as far as his good traits go. Underneath it all he is a greedy selfish coward. He is willing to do anything to get what he wants, so as long as it doesn’t mean getting his own hands dirty.

Appearance: Edward is very tall and very skinny. This combined with his extremely pale skin and long, greasy black hair, gives him an almost ghoulish appearance. He has stunningly deep blue eyes and a calm, almost friendly demeanor. He dresses well and almost always in black. He owns velvet top hat and an ebony cane; both of which he is very fond of. He has a very large serpent tattoo on his back and a serpent shaped earring in his left ear.

Gear
: A cane sword and two flintlock dueling pistols (“I’ll kill you snotty”).

Abilities
:
Soothing – Edward is able to make people more willing to do what he wants. The more he talks with them the more they are under his control.
Teleportation – He can transport small objects from one place to another. For example, he is able to summon his cane from the other side of the room by just snapping his fingers.

Combat Skills
: He his very adept at sword fighting and a very skilled shooter.

Weaknesses
: Because of his frail body, Edward doesn’t have the best stamina in the world. Blood also makes him quite nauseous. He needs to be talking to someone for at least five minutes before his soothing ability can take effect. His teleportation is limited to only objects that the average human can lift with just one hand. He has to see the object and he can only do one at a time. He also has a tendency to bite off more than he can chew.

Other Skills
: He his is skilled at slight of hand magic.

Bio
: Edward was born in the Sun Level and lived there until he was sixteen. His father was banker, so he lived relative comfort for many years, but he was restless. Even though he had all he needed, he wanted more. He wanted attention, power, and money. So when his father told him who his mother was, Edward immediately left home to seek his own fortune.
He moved to the Moon level where fell in and out of several gangs. He learned and mastered his trade and gained followers and soon had his own operation. His closest partner is Matrix-13, his automaton. He drifts between levels as he pleases; always on the look out for some way to make more money or become just a bit more powerful.

Name: Mors
Gender: Male
Age: Immortal, usually looks to be in mid-20s or early 30s
Class: God
Role: God of Death

Relationships:
Medella - Mors has an interesting relationship with the Goddess of the Living. Most would swear they hate each other, while some would say otherwise.

Personality: Mors has an overall careless and lazy personality. He tends to be fairly apathetic, and it takes a lot to get him truly interested in something or someone. Understandably, the one thing that really fascinates Mors is death itself, which intrigues him in the same way a child might burn an ant under a magnifying glass.

Appearance: As a god, Mors has many different forms. However, he is often portrayed as being a tall man with a skeletal face, dark hair, dressed in black robes, with giant raven’s wings sprouting from his back. Nowadays, he prefers a slightly more modern (and humanoid) look. Still tall with black hair, he has yellow-colored eyes, a human face (adorned with stubble), and an average body type. His skin isn’t bone-white as it once was, but he’s definitely on the lighter end of the spectrum. Usually, he’s wearing a black trench coat over a dark grey suit. The soft plumage of the raven wings have now been replaced by solid, mechanical wings with razor sharp metal “feathers.” Each “feather” (small knives, really) is black in the center with a copper-colored edge. When fully extended, these wings are as wide as Mors is tall. The wings are also capable of folding up upon themselves like an accordion, storing themselves into a compact, metal pack on his back.

Gear:
Wings - Mors’ metal wings are useless for flying, of course. They’re far too heavy. However, the metal is practically impenetrable, and serves as an effective shield. The blades that make up the wings are also capable of detaching and shooting out in every which direction with nothing more than a shifting of his shoulders. This can trigger either one or many of the feathers. It’s possible to shoot out all the feathers at the same time, in which case returning the wings to their pack would allow the wings to reload the blades one time before he ran out of blades.
Reaper - A scythe with a copper-colored blade. The scythe has two forms; a pole and a flail. In its pole form, the scythe is even taller than Mors. This pole can break into chain-like sections in order to become a flail. However, other than just being a super cool way to slice people to bits, Reaper has another purpose. This scythe can cut the bond a departing soul has to a body, allowing it to pass on to the ether.

Abilities:
Soul Searching - Mors can literally see souls. A living soul is usually hard to spot, but a dying soul lights up in his vision like a beacon, allowing him to know when to cut it free.
Reanimation - Can turn a dead body into an undead being. Does not work on gods or automatons.
Soul Recollection - On rare occasions, he can place a soul back into a body, but only if it has been removed recently. Godly power.
Leeching - Upon physical contact, he can drain a person’s life force. It takes about 10 minutes of constant contact to fully drain someone. Does not work on gods or automatons.
Death Aura - When he wants, he gives off a general aura of fear and death, which often presents itself with the faint scent of rotting flesh.
Shapeshifting - General godly power. Can shapeshift into any living thing, humanoid or animal.
Immortality - General godly power. Does not age. Can only be killed by another god.

Combat Skills: Doesn't have to fight too often, so his skills might be a little bit rusty, but Mors is very good with melee weaponry. He's not so great with guns though.

Weaknesses: Mors' greatest weakness is his laziness, which can often lead him to take shortcuts or perform a shoddy job. Due to his apathetic nature, though he could likely win most fights he stepped into, it's possible he would just avoid the fight altogether because he didn't care enough to get involved. He also doesn't often think through the consequences of his actions, which has led to... Problems in the past.

Other Skills: What, being a god isn't enough for you? Please.

Bio: Mors would be qualified as one of the "ancient gods,” meaning that he wasn’t really born so much as he just appeared out of the blue. (Don’t ask.) Though there have always been questions about Mors’ origins. Is he actually Death incarnate, or is Death merely his charge? Not even he seems to know for sure, although he fancies that Death is an actual person. Needless to say, in addition to his dubious origins, Mors has never really got on well with the other gods. His careless nature tends to irk them, and one particular incident a few centuries ago only further fanned the flames. He’s still trying to pay penance for that, but Mors has always felt a little more at home in the mortal world than he does in Caeles. Being the God of Death and all, living in a realm filled with immortal beings is hardly interesting. He often goes down to Auroris to release dying souls from their bodies, but doesn’t usually interact with the people too much more than that, although he’s been quite the subject for ghost stories. Really, humanity is basically just his personal science project…

Name: Matrix-13
Gender: Male
Age: Created 5 years ago
Class: Automaton (Steam-powered)
Godly Parent: N/A
Relationships: Edward Littimer – Owner/Partner
Role: Business Advisor, Campaigner, Bodyguard

Personality: When not putting on an act for the sake of selling Edward’s latest con to the masses, Matrix is a bot focused purely on the facts, not putting up with fools and idealists for very long. His analytical nature makes him a quick learner, and he puts efficiency above morality when it comes to achieving his owner’s ambitions.

Appearance: Matrix is quite the large Automaton, his hulking frame built explicitly for combat, but his clothing and facial modifications show his more sophisticated upbringing. The hair mods he requested give him a more human look and the top hat along with the upper portions of a suit help express a rather dapper feeling from this machine.
View attachment 1182

Gear: Steam-powered limbs, Enhanced brass fists, durable brass body

Abilities: N/A

Combat Skills: Pugilist (Boxing)

Weaknesses: Being Steam-operated, if someone douses the flames in Matrix’s energy core, he will shut down. He’s also a purely close range combatant, so long range fighters will give him trouble.

Bio: Matrix-13 was created for the soul purpose of being a bodyguard, nothing more and nothing less. But his creator left a peculiar imprint on his personality, the ability to quickly absorb knowledge. So when Edward Littimer bought Matrix, the Automaton quickly adapted so that he could excel in the craft that made his owner’s fortune. Matrix grew to be so knowledgeable on the subject of scams that Ed eventually allowed Matrix to be his partner, a promotion which Matrix found suitable. Together the two of them have ripped off quite the number of suckers, with Matrix always being there to defend his owner should any unhappy customers come looking for a refund.

Appearance: Tries to dress as a simple street urchin. For clothing has a dirty brown vest over a soot-stained white shirt. He has matching brown tattered brown pants as well as a brown messenger's cap. The clothes though slightly dirty are actually expensive soft cotton imported from a distant land. Archie himself is short and thin being about five five and a half feet and weighing slightly above one hundred pounds. His youthful face curves down to a slight heart shape with bright yellow hair, a perpetual smile, and bright blue eyes.

The Third born son of a wealthy Aristocrat who made his fortune in trade overseas Archibald wasn't actually expected to do much except smile at parties and maybe get married off to some woman he doesn't know once his family's found a worthy house to use him as a bargaining chip. And so Archie lived a bored and solemn life being taught and trapped in his mansion at the sun district by stick in the mud tutors and stick in the mud classes where he learned literally nothing. His only solace was his books where he would read of amazing thieves stealing the jewels of rich oppressors and giving to the poor and needy, Of terrifying brutes with kind hearts prowling the streets to deliver justice to those that do wrong and charming rogues who with hearts of gold always doing what's right. One night when Archie was about eleven he decided to sneak away to the moon district where luckily some thug had not found him and instead he met a company of young urchins. He joined their gang but had to leave although he did return to visit the moon district every few days. Even now that he was older he's still held a friendly relation with the orphans usually giving bread, cheese, and pastries to them.

Name: Luna
Gender: Female
Age: Immortal, but appears to be in her mid thirties
Class: Goddess.
Relationships:
Sol – Her husband
Aurora and Dilcos – Her children.

Role:
Goddess of the Moon.

Personality: Luna has a very two-sided personality. At times she is quiet, reserved but somewhat friendly. Other times she is abrasive, cold, and closed. She is never one open up even when she’s in her friendlier moods. She always keeps her distance. She carries herself with an air of superiority, which is not surprising, considering that she is a goddess.
Appearance: In her human form, Luna appears as a tall, graceful woman in her mid thirties. She has long silvery hair that is kept back in a simple braid. Her eyes are grey and her skin tone is light. She wears a simple long dress and sandals. Her expression is usually unreadable. In addition to her human form, Luna also favors two animal forms: a small black and white border collie, and a white cat. She retains her eye color when she is in either state.
Gear: Twin curved swords.

Abilities: Aside from shape shifting and immortality Luna has the following abilities:
Hypnosis – Luna can send any human or demi into a trance. In this state, the victim stares blankly into space and can’t hear or speak. The longer they are in this trance the more likely they will go insane once they are brought out of this. No matter how long they are in the trance, they are never the same again.
Night Vision – Luna can see in the dark.
Summoning – She can summon any nocturnal animal to do her bidding.
Light Bending – Luna can manipulate moonlight into solid shapes. An example of this would be armor made of pure moonlight. This is at it’s most powerful when the moon is full.

Combat Skills: She is skilled with her two swords and hand-to-hand combat.

Weaknesses: Her hypnosis abilities only work on humans and demis, not on gods. It is more difficult to put a demi into a trance than it is a human because of their godly DNA. Her ability to bend moonlight is dependent on the phases of the moon. If the moon is in it’s crescent phase she can barely create anything. Luna also has a very, skeptical, distrusting nature, which makes it hard for her to form alliances.

Other Skills:
Goddess. ‘nuff said.

Bio:
Not much is known about Luna since she is hardly one to share. The person who knows her best is Sol, and even he doesn’t know much. All we know is that she is the Goddess of the Moon, wife of Sol, and mother to Aurora and Dilcos.

Name: Victor Ayre
Gender: Male
Age: 31
Class: Demigod
Godly Parent: Mors
Relationships: Was mostly trained by his artisan mother and holds close relations with the mother. She is his main source for a prototype form of bullets known as hollow-point bullets. Relations with the father are more of a...fear relation. Victor is afraid of his father. One can argue him having daddy issues.
Role: Private Detective
Personality: Victor is a craven man, afraid of death and getting hurt himself so it lead to him avoiding combat as much as possible. When forced to combat due to his job, however, he prefers to fight from range. He is calm and calculative of his actions, resulting in him being patient and sometimes acting almost too late.
Appearance: A man around the height of five feet and a half with a brown loose coat on top oh him. His body is slightly muscular, though he is slightly overweight. He has grown himself mutton chops and tends to wear a cap to cover his baldness that he is not proud of.
View attachment 1210
Gear: Alongside his typical clothing he has transplanted metal into his chest to make him be more protected from incoming bullets and knives. The transplant was not perfect so he feels constant chest pain. He carries a Colt Single Action Revolver always with him that is modified to fit in the prototype form of bullets known as hollow-point bullets.
Abilities:
1: Re-animation for clues. Through a short re-animation of the dead corpse, he is able to see the dead one's last moments when they were killed, allowing him to scoop out some hidden clues about the murders.
2: Death Aura. Good for hiding as you smell like a corpse.
Combat Skills: Though not a fan of close combat, he got the basic training in it required for him to survive long enough to make a run to distance.
Weaknesses: Fear of death can make him be irrational in combat, with him possibly running away from it. Him bleeding is a good way to spark his fear of death. Constant chest pain keeps him always stressed.
Other Skills: His hobbies are whistling and drawing. He is interested in defeating death, and because of this he wishes to find a way to communicate with his father so they can work out a deal. He has found a possibility in defeating life with transplants, but he knows that the transplants are not advanced enough to replaces organs.
Bio: Victor is a simple man born out of a relationship between Mors and his mother, Valencia. He was never said why they decided to do it. He spent his childhood at a local school for which the mother paid with the money she had earned with her line of work. Throughout the years Victor was suspectible to bullying, as it was not told to the school that he was a child of Mors, and neither did mother allow him to. The years of abuse had lead to him being afraid of death, as he knew that it means he is closer to being taken by his father that he never got to know. He soon got the idea that the bullying and abuse he experienced there was his father's attempts at killing him. He has daddy issues.
Years have passed and his fear of his father had temporarily dissapeared, and it was during this time when he took up the job of being a private detective and the fear was gone. That was until an accident that happened six years ago. During one of his investigations the man that he was tracking was holding explosives. He thought his simple bullet to the chest killed the serial killer, but it did not stop him so the chase continued until it was too late to stop the explosives. Result was falling boxes from the explosion, with the contents of them shattering the ribcage of Victor. It was a miracle that he survived long enough for help to arrive.
After working in the job of a private detective for twelve years now his daddy issues have resurfaced as he is afraid of death and close combat due to the issues. His experiences with the ineffectiveness of the normal bullets has made him contact his mother, who accepted the deal of making the prototype bullets that she had thought up few years ago. These bullets are hollow point and they are ment for causing as much bodily harm as possible. He still continues his field of work, but with extra caution once more.
Additional Info: For the needs of Jrusso he is single.

Name: Julius Granville
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Class: Human
Godly Parent: N/A
Relationships: TBD
Role: Blacksmith

Personality: Julius is a jolly but often brash man, he’ll be your best friend if you give him coin or a bottle of Whiskey, but if you wind up getting on his bad side, you’d better watch out. He’s got the mouth of a sailor and smells like a brute but he’s great company to have around.

Appearance: Julius is a short and gruff man. Standing at 5’4 his hair is short, black, and spiky, with a full beard complimenting his ice blue eyes. His skin is well tanned from being out in the sun all day and his hands and muscles are well defined from working hard in the smithy. He wears a plaid tank top and red shorts, with a smith’s apron to protect him from stray coal when he’s working and his left foot wears a steel toed boot.
View attachment 1218

Gear: Mechanical right arm and right leg. Mechanical eyepatch with a zoom feature for more refined smithing. Various standard blacksmith tools

Abilities: N/A

Combat Skills: Experienced maul user and can use his smith tools as weapons, including Wrenches, and Blowtorches.

Weaknesses: All of his vital organs are exposed so if you harm them, Julius will easily fall. He tends not to think before he acts, which has landed him in hot water most of the time.

Other Skills: Loves to drink and play cards, even though he’s terrible at the latter

Bio: Julius never really had anything going for him besides his ability to make weapons, be they physical or ranged. His dad was a deadbeat drunkard and his mom barely made enough for her and Julius to get by once she kicked his dad out of the house. So he began selling his amateur weapons in the Moon Level to gain a little extra so he and his mother could live somewhat decently. His products were a hit, so he began to make more and more until eventually, the Granville Smithy was the premier place to get weapons forged on the Moon Level. Some even say that Julius must have been blessed by Narat himself, for no one other than a god could seem to match his smithing prowess.

Name: Leonard Masagrove
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Class: Human
Godly Parent: N/A.
Relationships: He has his brother and that's it. He is devoted to his little bro, and is willing to do anything for him. Aside from that, all others are expendable.

Role: Known terrorist. He has a rap sheet a mile long, and is responsible for dozens of Demi-Human deaths. He has a multitude of underground connections, mostly maintained by those of similar hatred for Demis.

Personality: For all matters that do not concern his brother, Leonard is an utterly remorseless monster. He holds no qualms about mass death, and believes that as many Demi casualties, no matter if they're good people or not, makes the world a better place. He knows he is damned by the public, but he continues his mission to wipe the Demis and respective gods from the face of the earth. He will push himself towards the brink of death if it meant one more dead Demi or grieving god, a vision of hatred and rage incarnate.

When around his brother however, he is a cheery man, dedicated to making sure nothing and no one harms a hair upon his head. He is always smiling around him, and readily has a joke available. This disappears the moment they are no longer alone though.

Appearance: 'To defeat a monster, you must become one'. This quote perfectly resembles Leonard. Where there was once a whole person, there is now a walking abomination of steam, metal and flesh. His right side is normal, with white, muscled flesh and bright green eyes with a mop of brown hair hanging low as a fringe. His left arm remains human, with only light scarring crisscrossing the flesh. His left leg, often covered by long legged pants, is also entirely a prosthetic, and he walks with a pronounced limp.

The left side of Leonard is the truely horrifying sight however. Scar tissue from various burns, cuts and pierces intermingle with technology that has seemingly been placed haphazardly all over his right side. Most of his internal organs on his left side are out of place, moved by an inbuilt generator that hums softly, and his entire left arm is a prosthetic. His left eye is filled with the whirring of cogs, the iris and pupil held inside simply for aesthetic features. The skin and hair on the left side of his skull has been burned away, replaced by the technology required to accompany accompany his eye, where various whirling and ticking machines clamour over where there was once ears and a face. His smile is slightly longer on the left side than the right, jagged and improperly healed.

Gear: Leonard's right prosthetic arm houses an experimental weapon called a 'Steam cutter'. Essentially a water jet cutter using scalding hot steam instead, he is able to utilise his internal augments in order to send out a burst of steam capable of easily slicing through metal if the target is within one metre. The steam lasts for five metres before losing its effectiveness..

Leonard's prosthetic eye is also a weapon. Used as a last resort, the eye can be ejected and primed to act as a sort of area of effect taser. The eye is broken after this, and cannot be re-installed without grave damage being done to the careful balance of electric and mechanical engineering house inside and outside of Leonard's head. The eye is, understandably, incredibly expensive and hard to replace. The eye occasionally shocks Leonard, to a noticeable degree.

Combat Skills:
An old friend: Pain is something Leonard has been forced to grow with. He has an almost supernatural tolerance for pain. Odds are, the only way he's staying down, is if he's dead. This does not mean though, than he is any less susceptible to death. Just that he stays awake longer.

Adept Boxer: While he ain't no Batman, Leonard has practically mastered the art of boxing, allowing him to lay into his opponents with a flurry of heavy hitting punches while simultaneously protecting himself.

Weaknesses: Steampunk Prosthetics: 'Face it, its steampunk. He basically strapped a ticking time bomb to himself, and no one knows when it's going to go off. What they do know, is that it will be disastrous when it does.' Leonard's prosthetics are haphazard, and can easily break down (To potentially lethal degrees) should they receive the right amount of damage in the right place.

Demi Hatred: Leonard is easily manipulated, as long as you tell him it's for the cause of slaughtering the Demi gods. He often relies upon his more perceptive brother when it came to things such as negotiation because of this fact.

Other Skills: Protecting little bro, killing Demis.

Bio: Orphaned and horribly scarred at a young age due to a minor argument between powerful Demis, Leonard has dedicated his life towards the complete and utter genocide of all non-human mortals. Forgoing a life of peace, he has spent years, even as a child, learning and building connections. He killed his first Demi with a prototype of the Steam Cutter at the age of fifteen, and it has only increased in there. Nowadays he is a known terrorist, wanted for the mass slaughter of Demis upon five different occasions, and well as suspected to be behind multiple missing Demi cases.

Name: Marjory Collingworth
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Class: Demi
Godly Parent: Tempest, Goddess of Storms.
Relationships: TBD.
Role: University Student/Nurse in training
Personality: Marjory is outgoing, enthusiastic and a fairly likeable gal overall though, she tends to get carried away sometimes. She can be a bit loud and sometimes overly affectionate. She is the touch type and expresses her affections via hugging, or even kissing, regardless of how well she knows the person. She may not appear to be the sharpest tool in the tool shed, but she is smart and a quick problem solver. She is very good at thinking on her feet.
Appearance: Marjory has a short, stocky gal, standing at around 5’3’’. She has a wig made of long brown hair with two braids on either side. It hides metal plating that covers the top of her head. She also has this metal plating on her back as well. She has sparkling, grey eyes a freckled nose and a round face, which gives her a cheerful expression. She tends to wear simple dresses and a bonnet occasionally.

Gear: A single, large, flintlock pistol that she keeps on her person for self-defense and a first aid satchel.

Abilities:
Storm Sense – Marjory can sense if there’s a large thunderstorm coming.
Storm Amplification – She can amplify the intensity of any storm.

Combat Skills: She’s a heck of a shot.

Weaknesses: Marjory’s storm manipulation abilities are limited by time and distance. She can only sense if a storm is coming if it’s twenty-four hours away at most. She can only amplify a storm if she’s in it. Her enthusiasm can get her into trouble, as she tends to jump into situations with out realizing what she’s getting into. She gets overwhelmed easily. The metal plating on her back restricts her movement.

Other Skills: She has advanced first-aid skills and can pull off a decent Irish jig.

Bio: When she was two years old, Marjory’s father handed her over to her aunt and uncle and disappeared. She was raised in a household of eight and never wanted for much. Her growing up years where happy, however, when she was sixteen there was an accident with a barrel of acid at the factory where her uncle worked. As a result, the top of Marjory’s head and her back is covered with metal plating. It took several years for her to recover. She currently attends university where she is training to become a nurse.
