Welcome to the war torn city sixty-three years after the start of the apocalypse. The world is in chaos. It is currently 2047 and the world has been ravaged, destroyed...

It's not well known exactly how it happened, though lots of stories are told. The most common theme is that there was a scientist that was creating a machine, the reasons behind it vary, but the results are well known. Doorways were created between our world and... something else and from it came the end of all things. Cosmic horrors beyond our understanding. Nightmares made of flesh, they washed over unprepared humanity in a writhing wave of insanity and death.

In the heart of what used to be New York City, living in a hotel where the name is no longer clear, a community has been set up, originally run by two girls and now just the one, Samantha Walker, alongside her closest adviser, Dorian MacManus.

Community Rules:

- The generator is run at Sundown. This is the best time to get in your shower for the day, if not you will have to wait until the following day.
- Everyone in the community must work and do their part. Whether it be keeping things clean, helping cultivate food in the green house, hunting for food, being part of defending the community, being part of the scavenging team, etc. This is a community and everyone is required to contribute.
- All decisions will be made in terms of what is best for the community.
- Sam and Dorian reserve all right to change, add to, or update any of these rules as they see fit.

Details on the monsters (currently there are ~13), the hotel set up and security, and other relevant information will be relayed in the main thread after we've gathered enough interest to officially start. Currently we are only allowing characters living within the community. Options to play raiders, cannibals, and other things may open up at some point.

Additional Info: The world ended in the 80s, so be aware that anything your character has or might have found would have to be in existence in that time (i.e. don't go trying to get internet working or finding an old smart phone and using it for parts). Because ammunition is pretty scarce, most guns are kept under lock and key as well as the bullets. Some characters might have come in with their own weapons, but as far as the community as a whole goes, most often the people with a firearm of sorts will be those in charge of security or on the scavenging team. The latter turn theirs in when they return from trips and the former exchange theirs when their shift is over.

Name: Samantha Walker

Age: 24

Role in the Community: Community Leader

Appearance: Five foot, seven; 134 pounds. Long wheat blonde hair, usually pulled back into a braid or ponytail. Bright green eyes, with a long scar running from the tip of her forehead down over the left eye, stopping just even with her slightly upturned nose. Sam has a slight athletic build from rigorous training enforced by her father and suffers from a severe case of resting bitch face.

Weapons: She carries a hunting knife tucked into a sheath strapped to her ankle. Other weapons usually on her person include a hammer, shoved into a loop in her pants and easily accessible.

Skills: She is an effective leader, able to make decisions quickly and usually can make the right choice for the good of the community. Proficient with her hunting knife and up close combat. She does not work well with a bow and arrow and has terrible aim with a gun (which are kept locked up tight with the only access being given to the security and the scavengers when they are out of the community). Decisions are made rationally and decisively. She is disciplined and controlled.

Standing at roughly 5'10, weighing in at 141 pounds, Marcus keeps his head and face clean shaven. Even when indoors, he almost never takes off his googles, so its hard to tell if his eyes are a dark-dirty green, or some shade of brown.

Weapons:
5.56 Assault Rifle (HK G33E) with a semi automatic 9mm pistol (Browning GP35) sidearm. When his weapons are stored in his personal locker at the armory, he is never without his trusty surplus grade hatchet.

Skills:
An excellent marksman, a proficient (though not the best in the settlement) hand-to-hand fighter, burgeoning leadership qualifications, and last but not least, a tried-and-true survivalist, having lived in the city alone for years before finding the Hotel.

Second In Command, Head of Security

Appearance:
Almost 6'4", with about 180ish pounds of meat on his frame. Ashy-blonde hair, steely blue eyes, face covered in tattoos from his time spent as a raider, and a silver dyed beard.

Weapons:
Either always carried with him in hand, or strapped to his back is a fireman's axe with a crescent wrench duct-taped to the end. Refers to it lovingly as his 'lady wife'. Also keeps a 9mm sub-machine gun (Milkor BXP) tucked inside his coat almost all the time.

Skills:
Close quarters fighting with man or creature. Good at mechanical repairs for the generators and the water lines. Charismatic, a natural leader. Can keep calm in a crisis and won't falter on telling who to do what.

Appearance:
1'93 meters tall, with darkish skinskin, dark brown eyes and long black wavy hair he always has collected in a ponytail or a bun. He's a rather muscular man with several scars, burns on his skin but normally seen with a gentle smile on his face

Weapons:
A medium sized hatchet, its blade rubbed with poison, a hand gun, and two daggers that got the same treatment as the hatchet.

Skills:
The practice of medicine and surgery within the limits of the setting, medicine making, although not an expert in hand to hand combat, he can stand his own and defend himself efficiently, he also posses an outstanding amound of stamina.
 
Name: Selene Dunham
Age: 26
Role in the Community: Scavenger/Defense
Appearance: standing at 1'75 meters, Selene is a redhead, with bluish grey eyes and pale ish skin. The amount of freckles on her body is pretty average, she's got a strong complexion because of being in the defense team.
Weapons: a variety of daggers, karambit knives and push daggers for close fighting and a FN Scar assault riffle.

Skills: hand to hand fighting expert, efficient at medium range fighting, scavenging useful bits and pieces and extremely agile, with great reaction time and higher than average strenght from years of training.

Name: Emily Tucker

Age:

Role in the Community: Janitor

Appearance: Emily is 5'6" and around the normal weight for a girl in a post apocalyptic society - probably way too light. She has a sharp, very dark brown bob with bangs and light brown eyes. She has a strong jaw and bushy eyebrows. She is quite pale, since her hobbies and job usually keep her inside. She is usually seen wearing a stinking, dirty, blue janitorial jumpsuit that is plenty sizes too big for her, a pair of black trainers and some old rubber gloves. She wears her dad's old uniform.

Weapons: Has access to all sorts of janitorial equipment; wrenches, mops, etc., if she needs a weapon that will 'make do'. If she's lucky and sneaky enough, she can steal her father's old rusting switchblade for some sort of real protection, but never for too long.

Skills:
Very good at cleaning, and always available to clean even the nastiest of things up. Has a strong stomach and a sense of smell desensitised to a pretty big level. She follows orders well and knows when to keep her mouth shut.

Age: 16

babysitter and bomb maker

Appearance:
Somewhere between 5'2'' and 5'6'', it's hard to tell because she's usually slouched or hunched over some project. Far too thin, malnourished, and usually has a faraway look in her eyes. Light brown hair goes down just past her shoulder blades. She has dark brown eyes, and no distinguishing features or marks.

Weapons:
If she leaves the community, which she tries to avoid, she generally has something explosive on her, ranging from deadly to just very loud. She also always carries a small switch blade on her person.

Skills:
Making bombs and traps. Also really good at making small children laugh.

Name: Gabriel Leong
Age: 24
Role in the Community: Gardener

Appearance: is a 1.65 m tall thickset man with a dark tan and short black hair that he keeps combed back. He's got a stubbly chin and bushy eyebrows. His hands are more often than not covered in gardening gloves. Often seen dressed comfortably in a simple tee-shirt, sweat pants, and sneakers.

Weapons: Garden machete (mainly used for gardening purposes, obviously) and a handgun.

Skills: Has one hell of a green thumb and knowledge of most crop plants. Has a lot of physical stamina.
 
Name: Father Jackson O'Donnel
Age: 52
Role in the Community: Priest/Cook
Appearance: 6'0", thin with a shallow face, a scruffy beard and medium length pepper hair. Dark blue, sunken in eyes and teeth going crooked and yellow. Often wears a worn brown long jacket, dark blue sweat pants, combat boots and fingerless gloves. Looks his age if not a bit older and suffers from a limp.
Weapons: Pocket knife ( doesn't know how to use )
Skills: Well versed in scripture, strong in faith and difficult to startle. Has a downplayed talent for cooking, getting maximum efficiency out of whatever he can get his hands on, avoiding or purging rot or disease and trying to make everything palatable.

Age: 28
Role in the Community: (gardener, scavenger, security, etc) Scavenger/teacher
Appearance: Felix is 5'11 with an athletic build. He has darkly tanned skin, shoulder length, wavy brown hair that he usually keeps tied back, and light brown eyes. He has a scar along his jaw, and usually has a few days of stubble.
Weapons: (carried on person) Shit tonnes of knives, for throwing and for stabbing, pocket knife for getting into places, and he alternates between a bow and arrow and a crossbow.
Skills: Felix has impeccable aim, hence his preference for throwing knives and arrows, and if he really must, a gun. He is a great climber, very agile with lightning fast reflexes, though he rarely gets into one on one scraps if he can help it. He is also a very good tool builder and user, able to throw together anything improvised from scrap, and come up with a shoestring and gum kind of way to fix issues whether in or out of the community. He is an excellent teacher and conversationalist, and people tend to open up to him. He is intimidatingly clever, and uses that knowledge to try and learn as much useful stuff as possible, and keep everyone educated in more than how to fight and hunt. He's willing to help everyone, and has enough knowledge to be of some kind of use in most areas like medicine and carpentry, though usually in an assisting role. He takes orders well, but holds himself and others to very high moral standards.

Name: Anthony Daughrty

Standing at 6 feet, Anthony was rather tall. He has shoulder length white hair, extremely pale skin, and pink almost red eyes. Obviously, the guy is a full-blown albino. As such he typically wears clothes that cover his entire body. When he goes out scavenging, he has his own set of equipment that he keeps exceptionally clean.
Weapons: (carried on person)
He is always carrying 5 throwing knives on his bandolier.
When on jobs he carries a long-barreled rifle with a 10 mm pistol.
Skills:
Anthony is very good at ranged combat, be it with thrown or fired projectiles. He is also the best at throwing knives in the hotel. A rather accomplished cook, Anthony downplays his skill in that area. He prefers to only cook for the children he takes care of and people that he likes. Anthony's calming personality allows children to both relate and trust him. He can call down any child rather easily. He is also really, like really, good at keeping things clean. He will always clean his weapons before and after a job, and his room in the hotel is immaculate. Anthony also likes to tinker with old vehicles and has always wanted a motorcycle.

Name: Felix Ari

While, in theory, he could be a good driver, it's unlikely that he will be allowed to use a vehicle. They're loud and draw too much attention from raiders and monsters and scavenging missions should be a little more... stealthy. Also, there's the issue of gas. The hotel has a few generators so all gas that is found goes to the community and is rationed accordingly. :> Other than that, no complaints.

I think we'll leave it open and see if we can get a few more players. At some point, soon, Caer will be posting everyone who has or has not been accepted.

Role in the Community: Scavenger

Appearance: Black hair is cropped short and spiked up. She's small and thin, flat as a board. All bones and corners. Brown eyes, and a constant smirk in place.

Weapons: A small knife. Her aim with a gun is completely atrocious, but she's working on improving. For the time being, even when scavenging, she doesn't carry a gun.

Skills: She's quiet and stealthy, and can fit into small places which makes her a good tool for scavenging. She's not great at fighting and only has about average strength for her height and weight. She's scrappy so she won't go down without a fight, but she'd prefer to run away than get in a physical one on one fight.

Appearance:
Alexis is around 5'2. Though she has a stocky frame, rationing means she doesn't carry a huge amount of weight. She perpetually keeps her hair tied in a ponytail, and the amount of stress she's under can be determined by how much of her forehead is visible. The more of her forehead is visible, the more pitted acne scars you can see on her face. Her eyes are rimmed with red and often fail to maintain a single point of focus for more than a moment.

Weapons:
Too anxious to go without a weapon in spite of not having received more than the basic training, she carries a few rocks she determines to be the right size and shape with which to club somebody unconscious.

Skills:
Doesn't feel the cold much, and her stocky build means she has the reserves to go without food for a couple of days if need be. She has startling retention, which means that when she's inventory-ing people she can note them down without having to bring productivity to a standstill. She's very alert and though not trained to a huge level, can throw a solid punch; she will not care where she aims if her target is too tall for her to reach their face.

Part time scavenger. At times he fills in for jobs that don't require a ton of specialisation when someone is sick or they are in need of extra help.


Appearance:
Albino, pale skin and intense blue eyes, with long white straight hair and a slender complexion.

Weapons:
The ocassional dagger and or knife, two handguns, brass knuckles.

Skills:
Abel's swift, flexible and resistant, as well as good at quick thinking. He's good at doing quick jobs that don't require a lot of strenght. He's also capable of operating as any other sort of non specialised helper under supervision.
 
@_BB_

Hey, just a quick heads up for you. Your CS is great and we're excited to have you in the RP, but I feel its only fair to warn you that driving will almost never be a thing. Gas is one of the more scarce resources, and when it comes to using it, most survivors think along the lines of "why use gas to drive when we can walk, when we could be using that gas to restore power to a building, run water, help our crops grow, keep warm during the winter."

Not saying you have to change your character, but letting you know that one of the skills you picked might never see any use.
 
Hey guys, all g! I wasn't sure whether or not driving was going to be a thing, but figured it would be a useful thing to know if it was haha. I'll edit it out of his bio now!
