Dawn Garden

Alysa glanced back to Daniel at his assessment before her gaze returned towards Diarneus. How were they going to get the ash out of the man? Would he die before he gave them any more information? Would that be their fate if the orb in her hand gave out? She bit hard on the inside of her cheek, chest tightening up like a vice. It took every ounce of her being to keep from growing hysterical and she silently remembered just who she was and where she came from. Those like her didn’t cry. Not in public at least.

Don’t fall to pieces now, Alysa. You’ve been in … well, not worse situations, but shitty situations before and they turned out alright. Rubbing her stomach with her free hand idly, Alysa noticed that Diarneus had yet to answer her or even Daniel, the male staring at the orb in her hand that was annoyingly still outstretched. Why was she standing there like a dolt like that? The answer wouldn’t come and her arm remained exactly in the same position.

Not even the reassurance that they weren’t trapped was enough to make Alysa feel any better. How could he be so sure? She chewed once again on the inside of her lip, the vice tightening around her chest the longer it took him to answer about Tatiana. When he let them know she sacrificed herself, Alysa couldn’t stop the gasp that slipped out of her lips. Whether it was that little bit of niceness that was still tethered deep inside of her or it was hormones due to the baby, Alysa full out started to cry at the news.

“No…” She whimpered softly, watching as Diarneus used some sort of energy to pull the orb out of her hand and into his. Once her hand was free, her arm dropped back down to her side and she just stared off at nothing in particular, struggling to handle the news. Not wanting to hear any other bad news, she tried her best to tune out the conversation between her teammates and instead just stared off at the ash storm around them, starting to feel like this was by far the worst mistake she had ever made.

“...Fuck, what now?” Grimacing, expecting more disastrous ash people or whatever they were, Alysa turned around to see what was causing the wind to rush through the area. Blinking at Diarneus, she just blinked, unsure what was happening.

Daniel sighed to himself as he listened in on the conversation between Alysa and Diarneus, having lost a team member was a detriment to itself and he let out a long drawn-out breath as he worked to put the loss away. He didn't know her before this, heck, he hardly knew her now and during this but having lost the individual that picked them up and got them started still made this rather difficult.

As Diarneus took over and analyzed the man below them, his conclusion to what was happening to him was disheartening and unfortunately dealing with that kind of technology was way out of his league. The biology aspect he may have had a hope for, and his only idea here would involve destroying the man in hopes of recreating everything at a later date.

"If he's too far gone then there will be little we can do, you said that we're not stuck here - let's hope that's correct." Daniel spoke aloud as he watched over Diarneus and his show as the wind picked up around them. It seemed as if he were attempting to rebuild the ship to an extent, which, if possible my provide them an effective means out of there. The only issue would be that whatever shot them down in the first place may try again, at least this time they would have Diarneus to hopefully help intercept it but that still left a threat lying out there in the ash waiting for them.
