Distance Heritage, Attempt 2

"good job" Mariah said when Silvan got into the car as she got in and Leon got into the passengers seat, and then she heard about the smoke and thought for a second "well, but we can better have a car with blue smoke which isnt known by the police, rather than driving with a suspect vehicle" she said as she started to drive towards the church, sure the car did leave behind a trail of blue smoke. But more older and not so well maintained cars had the issue.

The car that they were in would soon stop at their tracks once they arrived at the church. They would step out as Viola would stand there, glaring at the old church that was their hideout. It was aged and kept to its old architecture, but interior may tell a different story. Soon they made their way to the church after a moment of gazing at the church.

Mateo followed Riley to the front door. He nodded shortly at her, before glancing backwards seeing Viola, her mother, Violet and Alex had also made it to the church. He held out his hand out, indicating for them to wait before he entered the church with his hand on his gun. “Hello, we arrived,” he called the secret password as soon as the door closed behind him. His voice echoed through the church as he walked further into the church as he carefully looked around to see if anyone was already there.

Lyanne sat silently in the car, her phone tightly in her hands. Waiting for Mateo or Riley to do a message to indicate everything was safe. Let it be safe, Lyanne thought. She knew what to do when it wasn’t the church was just plan A. There were multiple places inside the town to hide and wait it out. They were less secure than the church though.

"Walk under the shade of mother nature's palm tree." One of the church members said he was just in the middle of mopping the church area near the entrance. "Did something bad happen this time? I'm assuming that it would be over the news. The priest is inside in his office" He said casually, placing the cleaning utensils down.

Riley stepped inside right of the church, recognizing the person in an instant. "Hello, Tom," Riley said. Everything looks safe for a moment. "Did anyone else step inside of the church before us? Or were there any strange calls or messages of some sort?

"No one stepped inside of the church, but you'll have to ask the priest if there were any calls or messages," Bob answered immediately.

-----------------------------------------

Silvan sat down in his position, rather casually and made sure not to breathe too much. There was nothing for him to do, he just looked out of the windows, essentially counting the cars that they passed. The boy took a deep breath, within just a few extra minutes, he realized that they weren't being chased by any police vehicle at all, and in some more time, they had arrived at the church. Silvan saw Mateo's signal to remain where they were so he did just that. Not bothering to open the door at all.
------------------------------------------

Violet continued to sit down in the car, with Alex right by her side. She sighed, waiting for the okay to go inside the church. The kitchen usually dad foods prepared, and a few ladies always made the best cakes.

Mariah and Leon also saw the sign of Mateo right before he walked inside, as Mariah parked the car on a parking spot and looked around to see who were already there waiting, as she soon spotted the other cars and people who were still inside them

The hand signal was given and viola's mother instantly reacted. She quickly took a hold of Viola's shoulder as she was walking towards the church. Viola stopped when hand was put on her shoulder. ''Wait. The guy at the door gave us the sign to wait. We need to wait until the necessary message comes to tell us that it's safe to head in.'' Viola's mother said. Viola nods, sighing as she sits back in the car to kill some time.

Mateo nodded at Tom, “Thank you,”’ he said before he walked straight to the office of the priest at nocked firmly at the door. He crossed looks with Riley for a second and hold his had on his phone as a silent question. Till now everything seemed safe but, he wanted to be absolutely sure. On the other hand standing outside for too long wasn’t necessary safe as well.

The priest opened the door as quickly as he could. "I see you've made it relatively safely." He said to the both of them, then proceeded to open the door to allow them to step inside.

"Thank you," Riley said, proceeded to step inside very quickly. She looked around the office. "So, did you get any suspicious phone calls, or see any suspicious activity?" She asked the priest immediately.

"No, not at all. I just received a message you were coming, that's it." He replied, "I assure you, it's safe here."

"Good," Riley replied, she proceeded to text message, everyone, that it was safe to step inside.

-------------------

Mariah got the text message and reads it as she puts her phone away and faced the boys "alright, we got the sign that its safe now, lets get moving but also keep our eyes open" she said as she got out of the car first, looking around before heading towards the church
Leon was the next to get out of the car and followed his mother to the church, also keeping his eyes open for anything that could happen or spy on them,
once the two entered the church, they went straight for the office of the priest to eventually enter the room and join the others

They waited and waited until they heard the news: They can enter the church. Viola smirks.''Oi look. That's some good news in a while.'' She said as she stepped forth as they made theri way to the church.

They entered the church as Viola paused to look around at the typical church property that is seen here - paintings of varying saints and a donation box. After a while they continued along and followed others to the offuce of the priest. A gentle realization begun to strike Viola: They can't go back to their old lives. Viola started worrying, wondering if others have any types of plan B for them to continue living while hiding.

Mateo opened up the door and looked around the room. “Lyanne and Maria will come soon, did everyone made it, without being followed?” he asked his voice sounded cold emotions. hiding the storm of emotions inside. There was no time for that, not yet.

Most of them made it but, he wouldn’t be able to relax before everyone would be here. “Did anyone heard anything from the people at home?” he asked thinking about the other siblings and caregivers of the demigods. They would be a danger too.

While waiting Maria pulled out her phone as well and posted an emoji of a cat. They would know where to go. They were already outside of the city so it is easier for them to get away. A neighbour would take care of the farm. Everything would be fine. They be all fine as soon as they could get away, they would get to together again.

Lyanne’s phone vibrated and with a short look on her phone, Lyanne opened the car door. “It is safe, come,” she said to her aunt. Together they walked through the streets in the direction of the church. Both keeping a close look at their surroundings while still trying to look like everything is all right. You are just going to walk to the church. You are allowed to walk here. Everything is fine. Lyanne repeated in her head as a mantra as she walked as fast as she dared.

"My husband's out of town, but I don't think it's wise for me to call him. I think they can track phone calls." Riley commented. She looked through her phone quickly, waiting for everyone to step inside of the church.

"You may be able to stay here for the night and be safe, but the police would likely begin searching here within the week." The priest advised

"You're right. We're going to need another adult meeting, just to decide what our next step would be." Riley said immediately, she faced Mateo, "Maybe we find a way to get out of the city. Perhaps to a place a little bit more rural."

------------------
The church itself was very, very big. Almost like a large theatre that can seat at the very least a thousand people comfortably. There were other rooms beside the priest's main office. For instance, one room was recently refurbished with beds to be used by the public encase of a natural disaster such as flooding. When Violet stepped inside, she gravitated to the room climbing right to the top of the bunk bed.

Silvan followed soon after, proceeding to step inside of the church. He looked around for a short moment, just staying still for a couple of seconds, at least until something happens of course.

Leon nodded "nothing chased after us once we lost the single cop car, we checked atleast twice" he said to Mateo, "and we dont have anyone at home" he added, to the comment that other family members needed to be informed

"the biggest problem we will be going to face is to get out of the city and to hide inside of the city" Mariah said, as the police most likely blocked every exit and will swipe through the city in the next days

The pair made it into the office of the preist were others were. ''I think everyone that was in the meeting made it, yes.'' Viola's mother said as they started to take their position around the office. Violet looked around at the fancy bookshelves that were in the office before looking at others.

''Oi! About home. What do you think we should do about our relatives that are still at our homes? I have a cat - Bill - that's still in my apartment.'' Viola suddenly said with a worried tone in her voice. ''What should we do to get her to safety?'' She asked.

Mateo nodded at Riley and leaned against the wall of the office. “Your cat will be fine, we have bigger problems than getting a cat into safety,” he said looking over to Viola.

“You are right,” he said nodding to Riley. Then he looks over to the other people in the room, “It might be better to get rid of our cell phones to make sure they don’t trace us, would Silvan and Violet be able to do something to prevent that?” he asked at Riley.

He nodded at Riley, “Yes we will,” with a short look through the room he made sure all the minors had left the room. Then he looked over at the priest, “You have any contact with another group of demigods, or any other organisation somewhere rural where we could hide?”

-----------------------------
It wasn’t a very long walk to the church and within about 5 minutes, Maria and Lyanne walked up to the front entrance. Maria opened the door and walked inside, “Hello, we arrived,” Maria called her voice echoing through the church.

"Yes. The twins should be able to dismantle the phones. We should give them it when we can." Riley replied immediately. She began to think for a little bit.

"There are other demigod groups scattered around the country. One of them near the forest so you should go there." The Priest replied immediately, he then looked through his desk looking for a couple of things. One is a very simple map. And another is an amulet. "There are some abandoned tunnels connected to the church, it runs along the entire city. You should be able to sneak under the police easily. But, quite a lot of gangs, mafias and homeless, making it a bit risky."

"Oh, that sounds risky."

"No worries, another demigod roams the tunnels near the church, you'll just have to hand them the amulet and you should be escorted without too much problem."

-----------------------

"Good day. Ms Maria" Violet responded quickly, she proceeded to look around a little bit.

Viola nods as she took seat at one of the chairs in the room, soon irking at a thought.''...You want us to sneak through mafia and gang land? That's crazy and stupid. You're kidding right?'' She asked, soon realizing that they're honest.''Us rescuing my cat is bound to be less dangerous than this. Are you sure this trip is so safe?'' She asked.

Leon looked at Viola "if the plan would be to dangerous and crazy, the Priest woulnt have suggested it right?" he said and then thought about the cat cation "and that means going out while the police goes through the city to safe the cat? thats really crazy and dangerous" he added

When Mateo heard his sister he opened the door and gestured her to come inside, "Come, we are in the middle of a meeting, Lyanne can you go watch Violet and Silvan?" he said.

Lyanne frustrated by being put aside with the children again was about to protest but, when Maria shook her head she swallowed her words. Frustrated she watched Maria walking inside and closing the door behind her. Lyanne took a deep breath and looked over to Violet. "Hi Violet, you know where Silvan is?" she asked, if she had to watch them she better do it right.

---------
As soon as the door closed behind Maria Mateo started speaking, "The priest knows a group of demigods in the forest where we can hide, there is a demigod that can get us through the tunnels to that group. I think that be our best chance. Staying here for too long would be even riskier after all."

Maria nodded shortly at Mateo, "I trust your opinion," she said her voice trembling.

Mateo give his sister a short nod before he looks over to the priest. "when will this demigod be able to get us through the tunnels?" he asked. "I suggest we at least stay the night here," he added. Going to the tunnels at day time was risky going at night was well stupid. Almost just as stupid as setting up a rescue mission for Viola's cat. He truly started to think it might be better to raise the age to go to the meetings to 21.
