Symbolist: A master of written magic. Symbol magic is used to instill magic into weapons, armor, and items. It can be used to create wards and circles. Symbol magic is often referred to as ritual magic since it takes 10 minutes if completed quickly to do any Symbolist magic. Symbolists do not adventure often as a result as their magic is poorly suited for battle. If they battle at all it'll be with items they crafted or in an area where they've had time to set up their magic ahead of time. Symbol magic is more powerful than other forms of magic but it takes much longer to employ All of it requires materials and magic instrument for drawing the incantations.

Name: Dhalia
Race: Human
Occupation: Red Mage
Gender: Female
Age: 30
Description:
Dahlia is an eccentric woman who fancies herself a mother to all. While she isn't inclined towards anger most of the time, if sufficiently enraged she has no issues with making the source of her anger suffer. She sees the best in most everyone she encounters with the hopes that perhaps they are redeemable through past trauma, though she is not naïve to the fact that some are simply too far gone to be saved. Since she has begun living in her hovel, she has taken up some mundane hobbies - herbalism and alchemy, mostly - but also some more fey ones. Much of her free time is spent collecting the bones of prey animals that have been freshly killed and creating fetishes out of them. These trinkets are more superstition than anything, but she is adamant in her belief that they ward off evil spirits and the haunted souls of those who have something keeping them around. A large plot of her garden is primarily hallucinogens and depressants from which she concocts brews that put her in a trance-like state. She claims this allows her to commune with the world around her, to learn from it and ask it for favors. She has few traditional vices, though she often struggles to manage her drinking when she indulges it.

Often mistaken for some kind of hag or witch at first glance, Dahlia is incredibly tall compared to her peers and family. Standing at a nearly inhuman seven feet tall, she often has to hunch in order to come through most doors in the cities and villages proper. Her similarities to hags and witches ends at her height, though. She keeps herself well-groomed and perfectly clean despite her lack of access to more 'modern' methods, and is uncannily pretty to the point where some believe it to be a glamor. More often than not, she is encountered wearing her robes that are meant to camouflage her into the tall grass around her hovel. The fabrics are entirely shades of green, with the body being made of a solid green while the hood and scarf are a darker shade of it. When the hood is pulled up entirely, it hides her face and head so that only the lower half of her face is really visible. Beneath the robes she wears tights and a loose bodywrap that are both made of the same material as the robe.

Specialty: Dahlia's intensive study and experimentation with herbalism and alchemy has lead to her ability to infuse some concoctions with a portion of her magic in order to enhance its effects or preserve it for long periods of time. She keeps most of the materials she needs to make these brews and concoctions on her, though she has to find the herbs for the catalyst. Her most prominent accomplishments in this study has lead to her intimate knowledge of creating:
  • Restorative brews that can close wounds rapidly, and even remove some minor toxins.
  • Brews infused with minor enhancements to physical ability, mostly in the vein of minor speed and stamina increases.
  • Explosive concoctions that are far more volatile than their base creations.
  • Many more nonmagical concoctions and brews that primarily function as medicine and longer-term care, and more mundane performance enhancements.
As a consequence to her study, however, some of her skills have atrophied. Particularly, she has given up focus on most defensive magic in favor of these alchemical studies. Using abjuration magic that isn't commonplace becomes more of a feat than anything. It takes her twice as long to prepare and cast spells of this type, and she can only maintain them for half as long. She also is incapable of using higher-level protection magic without someone to assist her during the casting process.

Dahlia keeps much of her past shrouded and hidden. What little is known about her comes from what she lets slip and the things that people still in the cities know about her. She comes from a small city of mixed races, mostly humans and elves, and was once an accomplished mage in the service of their leader. Eventually she grew tired of the politics and married her late husband, Damon, to settle down on the outskirts of the city. When he passed, she decided to leave the city altogether and travel to a small grove in the nearby forest whose grass grows to be taller than a human; the grove is said to be blessed by the fey, though these reports are unconfirmed. She cleared out a large patch of the grove and built herself a small home, one big enough for herself and one other person, and has lived off of the land since. She still shows up in nearby settlements occasionally, peddling her alchemical creations and buying some ingredients and materials she simply cannot get on her own. She never stays more than a night in any place, though, always returning home as quickly as she can manage. For longer journeys she often recruits trustworthy young adults to tend to her grove while she's away. She often acts as a foster home when troubled children are refusing to settle into their new homes, helping them work through their issues and find a way to cope with their situations.

Name: Jin Feras
Race: Elf
Occupation: Red Mage
Gender: Male
Age: 237
Description:
In a private setting and in the company of those he knows well and cares for, Jin is fairly outgoing and usually very caring. He usually tries to do things for the ones he cares for, like making them laugh and being sure that they are doing well, even if it means he is not. He finds it difficult, however, to socialize with and care for strangers. In more public settings he is usually very quiet, though his mind is consistently running a mile a minute. He is a deep thinker and a fast learner, though he keeps his thoughts mostly to himself. A vengeance streak a mile wide -- if you hurt someone he cares about, you'd better be prepared to die.

Height: 5'7
Weight: 150lbs/68kg
Jin is lean and muscular, his stature short and lean. His short hair and high cheekbones only serve to make him look more intimidating, having been mistaken for an Elvish grim reaper before. He tends to be clothed in all black most of the time, his style fairly bland so as to avoid being distinguishable in a crowd.

He bears the mark of the empath, being able to physically sense people's emotions by just being near them. Also his magical abilities are stronger in the areas of black magic, though he can heal sufficiently.

Name: Illian Delamryx
Race: Elf
Occupation: Ranger
Gender: Male
Age: 162 (Appears 35)

Illian has bronze skin and stark white hair, although his hair is hidden under a Stetson most of the time. He is quite large for an elf, about five and a half feet tall and, and muscular, coming in at about 150 lb. He dresses more as a human than as an elf, as well; if it was not for his ears, many would likely confuse him for a human based on his size and choice of clothing. He wears a dark leather vest over a slightly yellowed white cotton shirt. He normally wears the vest open unless he is going into combat; in those cases, he uses buttons to close it up so as not to interfere with his bow. His trousers are of brown wool, held up with a thick leather belt, matching that of his vest and his leather boots, into which he tucks his trousers. A tomahawk dangles from the belt at each hip and an inline sheath on the back of his belt hides a hunting knife, easily accessible by reaching his right hand behind him. The sling of his quiver crosses from his right shoulder to his left hip, and he often carries a composite bow, pre-strung, in a compartment inside his quiver just large enough for it.

Illian does not speak much. Unless riled strongly, he often bears a stony countenance and listens. His time in the wilds have tempered his tongue and perked up his ears. The same experience away from the rest of civilization has also atrophied any social grace he ever possesed. When he does speak, it is short and to the point, perhaps even brash. Instead of the soothing lilt with which most elves speak, his voice has a low, gravelly tenor. In combat, he is tenacious and ruthless, often the first to strike, and he does not stop until his opponent is dead. Illian almost never lets people get close to him. However, he will defend those who he does befriend with the same vigor and desperation as he would himself.

Illian's job as a tracker in the wilderness has afforded him the ability to track almost anything, and in combat, while he's reasonable with his bowmanship, he is a force to be reckoned in melee with with his twin axes, using them in an art which he's honed over the last century and a half. His preferred fighting range, however, is mid-range, hence the strong-pull composite shortbow and his throwable tomahawks.

Sorry I'm a bit late to the party, @Norwaven. Hope I'm not too late. Anyway, let me know what you think of this.
