Entrance Hall/Sorting Room

Wolfy Dalfyry

SCREEEEEEEE
When students, both new and old, come to Ardin's School of the Elements, they are first welcomed by the current headmaster/mistress, then the new students' elements and thus houses are determined. The way a student is sorted is: One by one, the new students are called to enter the sorting room, a completely stone room that has a spiral cut into the floor, with alphabetical order of their last names. There are four pedestals in each corner. The water pedestal is more of a bowl with water inside, the fire pedestal has a piece of wood burning, the earth pedestal has a rock, and the air pedestal has a ball of mist floating above it. The student who's in the room then goes to each pedestal and touches the element on that pedestal, fire last for the student’s safety. If the element they touch does the opposite of what it normally does, then the student belongs in that house. With water, it would be harder to break the surface. With earth, it would bounce. With air, the ball of mist would fall, but not break. With fire, it wouldn't burn the student.

The start of the roleplay will be the start of the year, with a welcome to the students, and the sorting of the new students.

Rules: No being rude, no godmodding, ask for consent to kill, script style is okay to use, one-liners are okay but try not to use them unless there is absolutely nothing you can think of, any amount of paragraphs is welcome, and most importantly... HAVE FUN!

Lily walked in front of the large group of students, and held up her hands for silence, "Hello and welcome to the students, both new and old, of Ardin's School of the Elements! A new year means a new amount of information to learn, and more fun to have! I am Lillith Ann, though you all can call me Lily, the current headmistress." She smiled warmly, her eyes sparkling as they surveyed the crowd. "As always, new students will need to be sorted, as that determines what element they control. As you all will see, and the older students will remember, the sorting room is to your left." She took a folded up paper out of her pocket, clearly not in a rush, and unfolded it. "Here we are... Only a few new students, but new nonetheless! The first to be sorted is Cherry Garcia!" Lily called out to the crowd.

At the back of Lilith Ann Rhyilhan loomed semi bent on his earthen staff waxing his eyes into the new student body, This would be to see the hint of prowess of his new students. Brooding fascination of these new children before him over took him and fed into a smile and unblinking stair that may be misjudged as some mad leer to any one student who would step forward and test themselves at the alters.

'Oh what hoy is it to see these new minds, wonder is it then what hints I may glean off of these youngsters in their curious minds' He thought as he stood in silence waiting the first student to impose upon the alters.

Roan glances around at her familiar surroundings. She looked at all the new students. Even if she did not know their names, she liked to have their faces memorized. She would put names to their faces later. She looked around for the people she knew that were in her age groups. She did not talk to them but she considered them friends nonetheless. She felt giddy for the new year, and anxious. She always wanted straight A's but it took a toll on her. Even though she was excited her face showed no sign of this.

Sakura nervously crept into the Entrance Hall, ashamed to be so scared. As much as she hated to admit it, she really was terrified. Of course, she had been here before but she didn't know anyone anymore, they had all left to pursue their real dreams. Most of her dreams turn out to be more of a nightmare.
She awkwardly stood around, unsure of what to do, when a boy with messy, blond hair came up too her and smiled.
"Hiya!" He beamed. "Scary isn't it..." he looked around at their strange surroundings before turning back too her.
"No!" Sakura said a little too quickly. "Uh, i'm not scared at all!" she pouted and avoided his gaze.
The boy laughed and held out his hand. "I'm Aki."
Sakura stared at his hand, feeling angry.
Aki withdrew it, slightly embarrassed. "well, uh... your name is?"
"Sakura." She said, folding her arms. "Now would you kindly leave me alone?" She snapped.
Aki was taken back by her rudeness. "Yeah, sorry..." he looked at the ground and walked away from her. once he felt as if he was far away enough, he leaned against a wall and sighed. his first attempt at making a friend had failed.

Mavis was buzzing, she could not wait to start the new year at a new school. She looked around to take everything in, her best friend was next to her, and she was shaking with nerves. Mavis smiled at her and took hold of her hand made Cherry jump and turn quickly to Mavis, she whispered to Cherry “don’t be nervous, it’s all gonna be ok” with a smile across her face before she squeezed her hand gently. Cherry and Mavis turned their attention to the headteacher as she spoke. Cherry’s eyes widened as she heard her name. Mavis shook her hand which made Cherry’s arm shake a bit and still whispered “It’s you Cherry!”
Cherry turned to Mavis and whispered back in a panic “M-Me?!” Mavis nodded quickly giving her a little shove “Go on!” Cherry froze in her seat and shakily asked Mavis a question “Come w-with me?..” Mavis sighed shaking her head and whispered back “You know it has to be one by one, you’re a big girl now, you got this! They’re waiting for you!”
Cherry was still frozen in her seat, she tried to get up but she is was just too nervous. Mavis not knowing what else to do, knowing that Cherry was keeping everyone waiting, gave her a little shove. Cherry on instinct shover back gently. A moment later everyone in the hall could hear bickering from Cherry and Mavis who where clearly still trying to be quiet. After about 3 seconds Cherry realised how much more embarrassing this was and quickly stood to her feet, she got out of her row and into the clearing between the chairs. Immediately hanging her head and clasping her hands together for protection, in a way to make her feel less scared “I’m s-sorry for the delay” Cherry slowly started walking towards the front so she could either be told to go to the room or given other instructions as she wasn’t sure whether to head to the room directly or not

Liliana nervously fiddled with her fingers as she was sitting down. She looked at the ground, staring at her feet then she looked up, watching the Headmistress introduce herself. She watched her pull out a small piece of paper, acting like she had all the time in the world. Liliana, looked back down at the floor, glancing at a picture she held in her hand and she chuckled to herself. Putting it away. She crossed her legs, and looked back at the Headmistress, suddenly brimming with confidence.

Seren walked into the Entrance Hall quietly. Her gaze flickered all over the room both examining the structure of the building and the other students. When the headmistress began to speak she turned her gaze towards her with rapt fascination. Magic was something completely new to her and she wanted to absorb all the information about it that was possible. Seren just kind of stood their awkwardly among the group of other first years awaiting her turn.

Altair didn't know what to expect as she walked into the Entrance Hall. She looked around and when she spotted a group of students that seemed new too, she stood with the group of the new students and pulled out her book. Hawks and their Habits read the cover, she tuned out all the chatter and flipped to the first page.

Lily kept the smile on her face as she watched Cherry, "Don't worry if you're nervous, because everyone is on their first day. Even I was nervous when I became the headmistress, but I digress. Just go into the sorting room, go to each pedestal, fire last for your safety, and touch each representation of each element. If the ball of mist falls but does not break, you're an air. If it's hard to break the surface of the water, you're a water. Pick up the stone and throw it on the floor. If the stone bounces, you're an earth. And if you can put your hand in the flame without being burned, you're a fire. Again, fire last for your safety, and do not worry."

Rhylihan was rooting for his own element while being overwhelmed with the sight of the students working the alters, It was always a good show both in watching what they do to the alters and their reactions therein. His grim appearance supported the weight of his eyes that he rested upon the student Cherry, Her nervous stride made him smile be it ever so slightly. His arms pan out as to direct Cherry to the alters as his snake Loaf poke his head out from and flicks out its tongue to the young girl.

As cherry would move to the alters passing Rhylihan he would speak out to her "Mind your self, Child. Having to pull you back should you be reckless is troublesome."

Cherry smiled at Lily before walking to the alters. She listened to what Rhylihan and nodded at him before going towards the first alter. Cherry goes though each one. The ball of mist falls and shatters as she touches it, the sound shocked her a little making her whimper a bit but she quickly moved onto the water, when she puts her hand in it breaks through the water easily. So she moves to the next, earth, though when she throws it, it doesn’t bound. She freezes for a moment, slightly shocked that she could be fire. She slowly approaches it closing her eyes and looking away as she dips her hand towards it. She feels nothing. Turning her head she opens her eyes and sees that her hand is in the fire and it isn’t affecting her. She takes it out and turns to Rhyilhan

Lily watched, and her smile widened when Cherry put her hand into the fire, "Fire users are always fun to be around. Usually energetic and spontaneous in a good way! Go ahead and join the crowd again. So then, the next to be sorted is Seren Lightwood!" She called the name to the crowd after looking at the paper once more.

Rhyilhan gave Cherry a silent nod as from his robe hands swept opening it to show an iron spine book that was exhausting to just look at, heavy and thick with pages frayed and old with iron bolts along its edge. Holding it in the steel gauntlet of his right arm while the left took his stave and slowly stank it into the stone worked floor turning it into pedestal, With a cold clap he slams the book to this pedestal, opening it and scribing something upon its pages before turning a silent gaze to Lillith.

Hoku stood next to Haleigh, holding her hand while he watched the ceremony. Esther stood next to Solomon as they watched on. She gave a thumbs up to her little sister with a calming smile. She could see her little sister's nervousness. Loki was in the shadows just in case someone's magic got out of control. He always knew that trouble makers would be around.

Hoku read his book as he waited for something to happen or someone to interact with while Haleigh hid behind his figure in the crowd. The flower crown that her sister made her, calmed her. After all, the smell of lavender mixed with roses always comforted her. It was her older sister's signature smell.

Seren walked forward quickly when her name was called. She entered the sorting room and paused thinking about which one of the altars to touch first. This was the part she had been most excited about; finding out what element she possessed. She decided on water first, but her hand passed through the surface of it. Next the young girl approached the air altar which fell and shattered when she touched it. It was at the earth altar that she finally had luck. She threw the stone like instructed and it bounced. Seren grinned brightly.

"Cool,"she said.

Eyes snap to the sound of the stone balls bounce Seren had tossed, glee in his grin seeing it. Another user of Rhyilhans own element but apart of his grin gave no other show of approval. Speaking at Seren with a tone that seemed to hide a sarcastic jab.

"Yes, Very."

That was it, cold rather bitter as Rhyilhans gaze fled back down to his iron back tome writing something in it once again.
