Entrance Hall/Sorting Room

Rowan turns her head to the commotion of three people and see one of them rip up a page. She blinks, wondering if she should intervene. She decided not to since there were adults around. She sighed and glanced and glanced around, wanting the meeting to end soon. She wondered if they would have roommates like the year before. Would they even have dorms? It seemed like they always changed something every year that she came.

Rayne had already been through this experience the year prior, she remembered the nervousness of walking up on the stage and choosing her gift. She had no doubt in her mind at the tie that she had an affinity to water. The pride of being able to confirm that was something she had never forgotten. She glanced across the room, her twin, like a ball of energy as he yelled a yay to give each new student support. She knew he was excited, but, she had wished they could have been in the same elemental class. Rayne missed her twin dearly, he turned his head spotting her and gave her a cheeky grin waving. She smiled giving a smaller wave of her own. He truly was a fire student, so much brighter in comparison. Her violet eyes turned away from him to glance at the students walking towards the stage one by one. It was crowded, she wanted to go visit the garden afterward and finish her book. Letting out a small sigh she turned her attention back to her book, going into her own little world as she read.

Zayne was excited, cheering on each new person as they walked on stage. He remembered walking onto the stage, a pep in his step. The excitement in the pit of his stomach. He had stuck his hand into the fire first without any hesitation wearing a proud smile and raising his fists in the air. He felt someone watching him, turning his head he found an identical pair of violet eyes bearing into his own. The tips of his blonde hair bounced enthusiastically as he waved to his twin. He gave her a big comforting smile, she must have been feeling lonely with him gone. They had been connected by hip since birth. Zayne thought it might be good that they were separated, she could make new friends even if she didn't want to. Though he wouldn't hesitate to protect her if needed. Seeing her attention turn back to her book he let out a small laugh, that was just like her. Always in her own world, content that she was safe he turned his attention back to the stage rooting on the next young person that walked on the stage.

Amalia sat at the staff's table smiling, she was excited to be able to teach again. She was wearing a pencil skirt, it stopped a little high along her upper thigh and a white dress shirt that exposed plenty of her cleavage. Looking over the mass of students she saw familiar faces, though most new. And turning her attention to the staff she saw plenty of handsome men. Her inner self beamed with delight, she enjoyed the eye candy. Turning her attention back to the students she clapped happily as each student went up unable to hide her excitement and curiosity. The sorting process was by far her favorite activity, as it only happened during the new school year she always looked forward to it. Thinking back to some time ago she remembered her own, excitedly reaching her hand out to each element to find she had been water. Graduating and then studying to become a teacher. All were part of the joy in her life. Turning her head she saw Jeun Matre, he was a teacher like her and a childhood friend. His stoic expression was always the best thing to see in the morning. She wanted to say hello but knew he would scold her for it. That stubborn man was always focused on work.

Jeun sat in his chair his notepad neatly placed in front of him pen propped behind his ear. His jacket was neatly folded over the chair he sat in and his expression was stoic as usual. He glanced at the table of Air elementals, there weren't many but he didn't mind. The mass of students entirely would enter his class looking to learn about the Elements. He hoped he didn't have too many trouble makers, his eyes shifted across the tables as he watched a Pink haired girl rip a page from another book causing the other girl to run crying. Looking at the girl he recognized her, Sakura, she was a fire student. Quite the personality those with fire elements had, they often were the cause of his migraines. He wondered if he should go to the crying girl and comfort her or leave her be. Closing his eyes to rub his temples he felt a headache already forming when he opened his eyes he was met with blue one staring at him from across the table. Amalia was staring at him again, he frowned, though they were childhood friends they couldn't be more different. She was a loud, irritating, and unnecessary flirt. But, that was why they were friends. He offered her a nod before turning his attention back to the stage,

Rhylihans foot slowly rose and sudden stomped into the ground sounding out a loud steely clap as well as an 'soft' earth ripple out to the student body in hopes of startling them. Single Deep inhaling to fuel the shout he had ready filling into his chest..

" Si-LENCE" he demands of the students "you may speak and chat with your fellow students after, please stay calm till this is over. Now then You lot may come before the alters"

Rhylihans naked left hand coils out from the ragged robes that drape pointing out to a small handful of students. (Anna., Aki, Huku, Hale, Sakura)

The lively bunch should be stopped for now with the alter but they group as a whole seemed full of energy, not a bad thing but a troublesome one. Spotting the manic wave of one student (Rayne) he gives the child a firm pointing to silently conveying 'Sit' only to then see the wave being returned by another student. Once more and with zeal he jabs out a finger and a iron eyed leer, the type that could be felt even without being seen right at the student Zayne. In all this now the upset group fighting over pages or drawings or something came to the forward of Rhylihans mind fleeing his gaze out to other teachers. Passing a glance Amaila who seemed to be thralled with her own goal, eyes then went to Jeun Matre who seemed to be alert to the fuss. Venting a face the said 'please help me keep sanity in this room' while he sluggishly moved to face the students that would come before the alters cutting a leer into their backs as they would work each making sure they do not hurt themselves.

Rayne and Zayne both looked at the man, quieting in their seat glancing at each other before sighing and bringing their attention back to the stage. The movement of their arm to use as a prop for their head made it clear they were twins, they moved at the same time. with the same arm, expression, and positions.

Amalia's head snapped to the man yelling, Rhylihans was always so serious and had a booming voice. She spared a glance at Jeun who looked much less amused than she was. He saw the man's pleading stare and furrowed his brows sighing. He glanced at the group of people that had caused a fuss, with another huff he placed his hands on the table pushing himself out of his seat. He looked over at Rhylihans ith a glance that said, 'You're bothering me by asking for help.' Jeun moved his gaze from the man and walked over to the girl that was roaming, he stopped him in front of her crossing his arms. "Miss if you could sit please. I would be grateful."

"Finally some quiet," murmured Altair as she continued reading her book. She wondered when the teachers would tell them to stop being so noisy. She wasn't worried about the sorting at all, she already knew she would be a water-user like the rest of her family. But there was a nagging voice in her head, why was it that she hadn't felt anything when she played in ocean with the rest of her siblings? And they felt at home at the beach house while Altair liked climbing trees and feeling the wind flow through her fingers. She shook her head and continued reading her book.

Theodore kept to himself, book seemed to always be in hand. He wavered around others as he made his way to his causal standing spot- somewhere with a decent amount of space, a.k.a. less social interaction. His green gaze slightly glancing over new and familiar faces as he wandered past the clumps of conversing students. Friends was something he'd lived without for the majority of his life, so he didn't consider making one a necessity. His goal was to focus on his work, learn and build, and graduate with enough knowledge to survive in this world.

Liliana laid back in her seat, bored. When would it be her turn? She didn't know. Liliana glanced around, looking at the students and teachers alike. "Hopefully, this is going to be a fun school." She muttered to herself, lying back in her seat and 'resting' her eyes.

Caleb looked around the hall and took in the sights. There were many students here, both new and old, and it felt like most of the newcomers were filled with a delightful mix of anticipation and excitement. Of course, nerves were high since today was a defining moment for many of the students, and some may be disappointed with their results - his certainly were after he had been awakened as an air elemental user rather than water. The excitement was palpable, but it was also ebbing as the whole process was time consuming and he was certain students just wanted to get it over with. As a teacher of mixing elements he hoped that friendships would start to blossom now rather than later, teamwork was integral to his course and it was impossible to participate without a partner.

The other staff were dealing with a minor kerfuffle, but it seemed to Caleb that some of them were secretly having fun as though they themselves were still students at heart. He understood the sentiment of being young at heart, he was only in his thirties after all, but something about being in a room of tweenagers and adolescents made him feel much older than he really was. The other teachers seemed to be a bit more busybodies but Caleb popped open the cork from one of the bottles hanging by his belt and had a sip of the alcohol substitute he had brewed in his spare time - removing the negative aspects of alcohol was incredibly hard, but worth it if it meat that he could have a sip or two on the job. "If anyone else needs a drink, let me know." he offered generally to the other teachers.

Solomon and Loki looked at the teacher at the same exact time. Loki smirked while Solomon rolled his eyes and continued to watch. Both of the boys weren't really paying attention to the ceremony but stayed anyway. Loki probably should be looking but he honestly had a tough enough time getting his other siblings out of bed. The ones that were actually sleeping that is.

"What kind of drinks are you offering?" Loki would never do this if he was not tired but now is just the time to put use to his name. Loki, the mischievous Element Officer had a ring to it. "Ah. My name is Loki Nova. Next to me is my brother, Solomon, if you didn't already know."

The grounds of the academy were massive and a sight to behold, so much so that the cries and greetings inside the main building were hard to hear. A few names were shouted out here and there, followed by brief stints of silence until the students that filled the hall continued their individual conversations with each other. However, after the latest name which he hadn't caught the hall was noticeably quieter - the headmistress having grown quiet, and the only reason Arthur took note was because that voice stood out from all the others. It had to, the headmistress had to keep attention and be heard by all but after they kept from speaking again he found his way back through the main doors; slipping in between a few bodies before he chanced upon a slightly older student who bumped against him.

"Sorry! Sorry, was in a rush-" Arthur began with a rather cheery smile, the child's smile widening before he reached out a hand to greet the stranger. "Arthur Maelstorm, pleasure to meet you." His introduction was met by a blank stare, followed by a sigh as the elder student explained to him that his name had been called and he had to make his way to the front. With a start Arthur sheepishly laughed it off, bowed for a moment then continued to edge his way through the crowd towards the stage.

"Present!" Arthur shouted, sliding his hand behind his head and running his fingers in the back of his hair.

Danae-Alisse:
Danae-Alisse calmly watched the proceedings. While her hair was that of flame, her affinity was for the fluid, ocean element of water. A slight smile plaguing her lips that just reached her eyes. Just. While it happened every year, the wonder and joy of the students who looked about the halls never failed to wash over her in a torrent of liquid energy. A stark contrast to the mirror flat surface that was her calm. From it, or rather, upon it, she watched the proceedings with a resemblance to interest as the teenage girl knew that, regardless of how many joined to the house of water, she would seek to take care of them. She knew too well that, after all the wonder had faded, issues would begin to sink in. Some would be homesick, others would struggle to manifest power, and others would struggle to control it. At the thought of control, a single ripple pulsed from the depths to the surface of the pool. A soft shiver ran down Danae-Alisse's spine, but she focused all the more on the proceedings. So long as things continued to appear in front of her, there was no need to consider looking at the pool upon which she sat. No need to consider what lay within it.

Durran:
The young man avidly worked throughout the whole proceedings. A great grin shone through his young beard and belied a booming laugh. The man was, given by his eternal, rich accent, a foreigner. Under his tongue, the English language was handled in a manner that could only be described as archaic. Although, he wasn't speaking now as, most certainly, now was not a time for waggling tongues. Now was the time for paying attention. Not that there wasn't a time for paying attention, but special attention had to be payed on tonight of all nights. After all, not every day was the day that fate revealed elemental affinity. Although, in the man's case, when he was sorted a short five years ago, there had been no question in his mind as to his fiery affinity. He just had to show it to others and, when he had been called up, simply forewent all the other elements and stuck his arm into the flame.

But none of that had anything to do with what he was doing. Pencil in hand, notebook cradled in the other, the young man furious sketched. Working to catch the likeness of each and every student to be cross-referenced against numerous other sketches he had. Friends called it an art-obsession although, while true, the young man named Durran considered it of utmost importance. Without the proper faces, it was hard to match what he saw in the flames to the precise places.

"There's no need to be so serious, Rhylihan. After all, it's the start of the year, and the students are surely giddy. Hello, Arthur. Go ahead and go into the sorting room." Lily advised Rhylihan then encouraged Arthur, keeping her expression soft and caring with the young boy, "Just in case you missed my explanation, if you break the surface of the water, you're a water user. Pick up the stone and throw it down. If it bounces, you're an earth user. If the ball of mist falls but does not break when you touch it, you're an air user. If you put your hand in the fire, and it does not burn, you are a fire user. Make sure to do fire last."

Esther moved from her spot. Her intrigued and curiosity got the better of her. She silently cursed herself before moving over to the male who seemed to be scribbling in a notebook. Esther hummed a tune which made the vines that previously wiggled towards the male due to its master's curiosity, dwindle back to it's home. Esther tapped the male's shoulder with a smile. She saw him in the halls before but now her father's jobs for her were a bit quieter as they waited for the new kids to be chosen.

Esther moved her hair so it was out of her face and looked at Durran's drawing but stood far away so that it wouldn't be too close for comfort. She just loved drawings. If she had her sketchbook, she would be drawing but Solomon said she wasn't allowed to. She was really silently debating whether or not to just run back to her room to grab her book of wonders.
