Luka lived comfortably in the Arthegian middle class with his mother, Myndill Degare, and father, Draaven Degare, who served in the Terran military. While he never seemed to be all that big or tough, he could handle the schoolyard bullies easily enough with his silver tongue and sharp wit. Despite his loss of sight in his left eye, the boy viewed the world optimistically, acknowledging his werewolf abilities as a blessing rather than a curse. He seemed to find the good in every hopeless situation.
That was until his mother died in a freak car accident. He was left in his usually absent fathers custody and they left their painful memories behind in Arthegia for a clean slate in Lutetia. Luka discovers that the hardships there cannot simply be solved by a few well placed words and is completely discombobulated by his new surroundings. Then, he is introduced the Bloodstone Pack.
